Since enough people seem to be seeing this now and Movie Aristotle had an interesting theory about it, I thought it merited its own discussion. (If the GMD mods don't mind. )
Quotes are from the original THREE CLIPS!!!!! *SPOILERS* thread.
After watching clip #2 recently (for the umpteenth time), I noticed something interesing that I don't believe has been mentioned yet. At about 5.5 seconds something dark and mysterious clearly comes into view at the extreme right edge of the picture frame and at a height just above Eustace's head and only for a brief moment
It's a jawa!!! Actually, I don't know what it is. Anybody have a hi-def version who can get a better look at it?
Edit: I looked again and this time I did spot it at 5 seconds. It could be larger than I thought at first.
What I find really interesting at 5.5 seconds is the rock. I can't decipher what the shadow on the right side of the screen is, but it does look like the rock is moving up and down, or more accurately, like the rock has been digitally erased and the background replaced a little in each frame so that to us the rock appears to be moving. Generally they do this sort of thing in post-production right before they add in a digital creature. And notice that Eustace is looking in that direction when the clip begins. In fact, he could be travelling from that rock as the clip begins. So, putting all of these new observations together, I would guess that they are going to put a dead dragon into the scene and that this shot comes right after the first dragon dies and Eustace inspects it. This would be consistent with the book, but inconsistent with the theory that the smoke in the bottom right corner of the frame at 33 seconds comes from a dragon, -unless they throw in a Hollywood surprise and have the dead dragon not really dead.
Any other ideas?

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.
Took me ages to realise exactly what it its you were referring to - you have to be really quick to notice it, and its only really noticeable when you are watching it at full speed, but yeah, something black definitely moves up then down again behind the rock to the right.
It could just as likely be a glitch as anything else - if you noticed in the Locations thread, we determined that this one scene was likely shot across 3 different locations (4 if you count the boat), and whilst i think its an unbelivably seamless edit between them considering, there could still be some rough edges to sew up.
Alternatively, perhaps its the "Malevolent Mist" which has come to steal his soul? (slightly joking, but also slightly not. hahaha )
It's a Jawa! Okay, I'll stop telling that joke. I think Movie Aristotle's idea is a good one, perhaps when he turns around he discovers he has a tail.
Seeking comic book artist, PM for details.
The malevolent mist. That sounds about right.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
I don't think it's anything that's supposed to be there in the final film (ex: a member of the crew following him), and I think most likely something will either be added in digitally, or it was just a glitch.

Whatever it is, it's bigger than I originally thought and can be seen from the moment we see Eustace and to his left/viewer's right. It is just above the rock formation to the right of the screen and moves ever so slightly up and down along the length of that formation.
The motion of it is more like that of... a wing. Perhaps Old Dragon's? Or is it some technical rough edge that needs some sprucing up or removal?
I will definitely be looking forward to this scene when watching VDT for the first time.
(Interesting that the first evidence seen by the Dawn Treader crew of (most likely) Dragon Eustace is a shot of flame over the top of a rock. )

Actually, I think that the dark shape is the old dragon, alive. That's why Eustace is startled at first. Then I think that the burst of flame is the old dragon's last flame, before it dies.
That's just armchair speculation, though. We've no evidence.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
Whatever it is, Eustace is clearly looking at it when the clip starts. It could be that something happens just before this clip. Personally I don't think it's the dying dragon, simply because Eustace barely seems to react to it.
It also could simply be, as Icarus pointed out, a glitch in the effects that needs to be smoothed out still. Perhaps they needed to add a rock to the scene to cover something up (Crew members, set pieces, etc) or to add continuity?

Maybe Eustace reacted to the dying dragon earlier in the scene, and he has seen it struggling for so long, that he is no longer intimidated by it? I highly doubt this theory, but just thought I should suggest it!

Unfortunately I can't even guess what it is because I missed it when I first watched the clip and now the video has been removed!!!
The discussion seems intersting though.

I don't see it.... you say it's at the beginning? At 5.5? I looked there, and I don't see it...
Could someone get a screenshot??

It's a possibility, and I had thought of that, but if you read my post HERE, you'll see my theory is that the smoke at 33 seconds is from the other dragon, so I don't think this could be one, unless I'm wrong, which is a definite possibility.

Eustace+Jill, Unfortunately I came too late and that link has been removed as well, but thanks for trying.
Can anyone describe it? Size, shape, color, general location? I'd appreciate it.

^^ it looks like a shadow and if you are not looking for it you don't see it in the clip.....
