Hi everyone! I am new to this forum, but I have been a true Narnian for almost ten years now. I know Aslan, by His "other name", in this world as well. :)

I would like to dedicate an entire thread to this subject alone because I have only seen it briefly mentioned in other threads.

How awesome were all of the Edmund and Caspian scenes in the movie?

I was pleasantly surprised when the writers and director decided to dive into this specific character development. Especially when the Peter and Caspian scenes in PC left most people feeling disappointed because Caspian actually ADMIRED Peter in the book. If fact, he admired ALL of the Kings and Queens of old.

Well, I believe that we get a glimpse of that admiration in VODT with Edmund and Caspian.

There were SO many great scenes between the two that I cannot mention them all. My favorite scene, however, is when Caspian tells Edmund that he thinks of him as his brother. It was very touching...and very appropriate since this is how Caspian feels about Edmund in the book, and vice versa. Then Caspian touches it off by giving Edmund Peter's sword; believing that Peter would want Ed to have it. In a way, I believe that this scene made up for the lack of apology for the boy's harsh behavior at Goldwater.
Also, the hug at the end between Edmund and Caspian was one of those unforgettable scenes. You can actually see that they care about each other, like brothers should. :) Anyone else notice that he hugged Edmund first?
What do you guys think? do you agree with me? what are your favorite Edmund and Caspian scenes? Please discuss it all in this thread! ;)

omp!!! The scene at the end!
I could handle the Pevensies leaving. I was ok with the goodbye to Aslan. I'd read the book. I was prepared. I knew that He would be with them in their world so that was ok.

But then Caspian said that they were all the closest thing he'd ever had to family. And then there was the hug between Caspian and Edmund and it was so bittersweet. I didn't cry but this made me come very close to it. In fact I'm about to cry now just thinking about it. It was so sweet and so sad because they'd become so close and they would never see each other again this side of Aslan's Country. :((

All I can say about that particular friendship is well done!

First of all, it's great to have you here! Welcome to NW! (I too know Aslan by his other name. :) )

Secondly, I agree with you on your favorite scene. That touched me a lot, and I felt like it made up for what lacked in Prince Caspian. It was also a good way to "undo" the scene and their resulting behavior at Deathwater Island. For me, that was the apology.

My runner-up would have to be their hug at the end. That tied up any loose ends or doubts that were left about where they stood with each other. It was very sweet, and I absolutely love how these two characters were developed. Caspian & Edmund's relationship was very well done (probably one of the best developed in the movie, in my opinion). I couldn't ask for it to be done any better. I only wish I could have seen more of it! :)

The friendship between Caspian and Edmund was one of my favorites in this film. I was pleased that it didn't form into conflict like Caspian and Peter in Prince Caspian. It mdae my day to see them get along so well.

I think it's very nicely done, one of the subplots that is very well-developed. Given the fact that in the book Caspian is very devastated when he has to part with Lucy/Ed, their friendship in this movie justfleshes that out :)

I thought it was probably one of the better parts of the movie. I enjoyed their friendly duel, the 'brother' discussion', Caspian handing over Rhindon (and offering twice!), and the hug at the end. line removed by mod request

But, as a fanfic writer who wrote a PC 'fix-it' fic with Caspian and Edmund becoming more brotherly in the previous movie, I squeed at their friendship in this one and am looking forward to possibly writing a sequel-fic!

Oh, I loved this element of the film! Their relationship was so beautifully fleshed out after the shallow get-alongs of PC. My favorite moment was when the two were arming up and Caspian tells Edmund he looks at him like a brother. It was so...perfect, I loved that. A job very well done on both their parts.

I was just so relieved that they didn't go with an alpha male struggle in this movie. Because of this, I loved any scene that made it clear that Edmund and Caspian were friends. And I liked the way they did what the book called "a very grievous parting". I perhaps would have liked that scene a little longer to build emotional impact but it was very good.

I thought the scene that most showed that Caspian thought of Edmund as a brother was just one word: where he screamed his name during the serpent battle. Good raw emotion like that can often say more than the most eloquent speech.

@Lirenel: Please do--I really enjoyed your PC fic.

I like their friendship in the movie. Especially the scene where

Spoiler
Caspian gives Rhindon to Edmund and they forgot about the fight they had

You're right promise777, oh REALLY!

I like the way Caspian and Edmund interact throughout. I'm so glad they didn't do what they did with Peter and Caspian in "Prince Caspian." I think the relationship between Caspian and Edmund in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treador" is well-represented in this movie. It's touching how close they become despite a few struggles with temptation. It's sad to see them part for the last time, but they leave on great terms, considering each other like their own brother. That is really cool.

Dear Liberty Hoffman, and MountainFireflower, thank you soooooo much for your warm welcome! I LOVE this forum! :)

Fireheart209, I completely agree with you. I've watched the movie three times now, and that is still one of my favorite parts in the movie.
I would also like to add that I enjoyed the part where Caspian pushed(tackled) Edmund out of the way of the sea serpent. Caspian was willing to put his life in jeopardy to save Edmund, which made me think of a particular passage of the bible. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13.

To everyone else who wrote something in this thread, thank you so much for all of your great comments! I love them all!
I hope to hear from more of you!

Before the battle at Dark Island, Caspian tells Edmund that he "thinks of him as a brother". omp if i didn't have tears in my eyes before that, I certainly did then! :)

I thought it was OK, but the whole brother thing was a bit to much, if you ask me. It just seemed a bit strange.
