NL101, I agree that most of this needs to wait til it's seen in real life for an opinion, but speculation is still a lot of fun. :p

Oh, I'm all for speculation; that's half the fuel this forum runs off of! I was merely stating that such events as the ones described in the trailer could turn out cheesy/weird or could be awesome/touching, and there is really no way for any of us to know until we see it, but I'm sure you knew that. So please, speculate away!

As far as making the trailer "christian" just to please a certain audience: I can't really see them doing that. They would have to go to a lot of work to make a whole trailer for "Chrisitan" events and then another for "non-christian" events. And if they didn't make two trailers then they'd risk scaring away the "non-christian" audience with an overtly christian trailer. I'm guessing they just made the trailer to summarize the movie as best they could.

I'll always be a,
NL101 :)

*The "trailer" starts with a sweeping view of a church with lion gargoyles, 20th century people exiting the doors below. Aslan's voice speaks in the background about times changing.

I wonder if this means there will be a prologue/epologue in this movie? Or else perhaps Aslan's voiceover is just for the sake of the trailer.

(I still get upset about certain parts of PC and other movies and will rant about them to whoever will listen). After VDT comes out, I'm sure my fellow NarniaWebbers will have to put up with a bit of complaining from me. (My family thanks you for listening to some of my complaining so they don't have to listen to it repeatedly ;)) )

I assure you, you are not the only one who does that. ;))

No, you certainly aren't!

The production chose to save two casting announcements until 5 months before the previous movies' releases. Liam Neeson as Aslan and Eddie Izzard as Reepicheep. It looks like they picked Ramandu as the special announcement for VDT so I don't expect to hear anything about him for a while.

In that case, I bet we won't see anything about Ramandu until maybe July.

I can see how making there be a driving force of urgency added to the movie would help to make it a better film. As someone said (Sorry, I can't remember who! :( ), it could get dull, going to one island and finding one lord, then traveling to the next island and finding another lord. So as much as I don't like the idea of "having to save Narnia AGAIN," I can see the need for adding something "to tie everything together."

Just so long as there isn't this "Soul Eating Cave of Doom" that people are mentioning on this thread.

I'm thinking that Ramandu has been cut as well. Nuts.

From an interview on Aslan's Country:

Cy: Would you know, by any chance, who’s been cast as Ramandu?
Ernie: I know, but can’t say anything beyond that.

The interesting thing about that interview/Q&A session, is that the questions were specifically designed (i'm assuming) to be very direct and to the point in the hope that we could get some definitive Yes or No answers to some of the key issues.

However, even though Ernie Malik gave very direct answers in response, almost all of them included sufficient "wiggle-room" that you could interpret them in a number of ways, despite them appearing to be very exact answers. For example:

Will William Moseley and Anna Popplewell have any role in Dawn Treader?

Ernie: Another rumor? They do not appear in the book.

Although it seemingly gave the impression of being a definitive "No", we now know that both William and Anna do appear in the movie. All he actually said was that they aren't in the book.

Similarly with the Ramandu question, all he said was that he "knew". He could for example know that nobody has been cast. I suspect if he had wanted to, he could of phrased the answer in a less ambiguous way, but he seemingly chose not to.

That said, i am still holding out hope for Ramandu. Though i wouldn't be surprised if he was cut either.

I am strangely less worried about Harold and Alberta though. We've yet to hear anything about either of them either, but i'd be reasonably certain they will be in the movie. Given that they have expanded the opening earth-based scenes beyond just the bedroom scene, i couldn't really see it working without them.

As FriendofNarnia2 pointed out, we are having a bit of a problem with the number of Islands. The only island we haven't heard anything about is Burnt Island. Two of them must be combined. I could almost see Dragon Island and Dark Island being combined.

I posted a story in the Rumors section of the forum a week or so back which may give a clue as to which islands might have been combined. It was a story about some early level design maps for the DawnTreader video game. Although alot of it is now very out-of-date (and alot of it would only be relevant to the video game anyway) it does show that at some point in time they were intending to combine two of the islands in the video game (click on the link below and read the story to find out which two) and since we now know they have combined at least 2 of the islands together in the final movie (as none bar Burnt Island appear to be missing) i would wager it was the same pairing....

Maybe it was one of the Lords that stole the Stone Knife [...] Maybe the Knife is considered an ancient relic that protects the Lone Islands (after all, it has Aslan's blood on it), and without it the Lone Islanders are vulnerable (or think they are vulnerable) to attack. The Calormenes [...] are maybe threatening the Lone Islands - Calormen wants to invade Narnia or something, but they need the Lone Islands to help (ships?) and they're using the Lone Island's vulnerability without the Knife to coerce them? And Caspian needs to return the Knife or the Lone Islands will revolt and go over to Calormen.

I think that's a pretty plausible explanation, especially the part about the Lords stealing the knife. Good idea!

I am getting a little bit worried about Ramandu now. How much did we see of Aslan and Reepicheep before their voice actors were revealed? (Alas, I did not follow LWW and PC at all and so do not know) Of course, that's different, because as a human, Ramandu would be easily recognizable, whereas if Aslan and Reep just stayed silent in the early footage, nothing would be given away.

Arrrggg! I'm desperate for a trailer!!! It seems like December is years away! I'm not good at all this waiting.

I am glad that Eustace will be writing in his journal! they seem to be paying very close attention to small details from the book! I am encouraged by this! :D

I'm excited about the journal too, although I wouldn't really call it a small detail. It was an entire chapter of the book.

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

I did notice that. He seemed very evasive so I'm taking things with a grain salt.

right! yeah, it was a big part.....what I mean is that the journal isn't exactly the most crucial part of the plot and if they had left it out it wouldn't have ruined the story, but it's nice to have it there! :)

I agree. It's nice how they're including it in the movie. I liked that chapter a lot when I first read the book (it was cool to be in Eustace's head for a while, even if he was kind of annoying).

^^ I like it on the Focus On The Family Narnia audio books because the kid who does Eustace reads it aloud and it's kind of funny :D
