Thanks for sharing that, Watchful Admin.
I am fortunate in that most of the newer stuff and even Gael's character don't bother me. I've posted before that after I first read VDT, I always imagined Lucy making friends with another girl as the book says they did encounter other people in the slave ship's hold.
Also, I like the touch about snow and Lucy in Coriakin's house. It connects LWW and VDT. And as far as Ramandu's daughter glowing blue, blue is my favorite color and people who are stars or related to them should have some kind of visible aura around them. (IMHO )
The above quote also mentions a dragon's shadow. But mentioning the importance of the Dark Island is good because that means it will be in the movie. But how its siginificance is altered in the movie version I am definitely curious to know.
What would bother me most would be the "unfathomable fate" fate concept. I just hope it is interesting and not another save-the-world scenario because it is not in the book and it has been overdone in so many movies now. I just hope that in The Silver Chair that Eustace, Jill, and Puddleglum are only seeking Prince Rilian.
Overall, VDT is looking good to me.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.
Does this confirm Lucy's crush on Caspian will be in the movie as well? It seems likely, considering that from only about 2 1/2 minutes of footage they can already show so much that was in the leaked script, the rest is not too far off.
*gag* Let's hope not. Is there really that much from the leaked script in there?
I think this could work, but it would be much better if it was done sarcastically:
Eustace: Right. Minotaurs, fauns, and talking animals exist. *turns to seagull* I suppose you're the first mate?
Though, why a Narnian would laugh at someone talking to an animal as if it could talk back...
True. I guess, in my mind, I would think they would want to show a very bratty Eustace, not a butt-of-other's-jokes-Eustace. Meh, it doesn't bother me that much, overall.
This would seem to support the idea (one thats come up a few times before) that at the start of the journey, Caspian's only objective is to reach the Lone Islands. Otherwise, why would Caspian not reply "Oh perhaps you've been sent to help me on this dangerous journey to the edge of the world i'm about to attempt" rather than "i've been wondering the same thing".
I took it as more along the lines of reminding the audience that this film is bringing Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace to Narnia so that they can learn the various things they learn (in the book, at least); rather then saving Narnia, as Adamson somewhat focused on them doing in the previous two films. I can understand what you're saying might be the reasoning for a later reveal of the plot, though.
Cep, the only reason I'm not overly concerned about the lack of a dragon is because they is mention of still being green tights and the CG that's there is still rough, so (hopefully) Dragon Eustace just isn't far enough along to show yet. Either that or they want to hold back showing the dragon until later. The trailer honestly sounds more like a teaser then a super trailer, at least based off of what's been shared in the descriptions.
Yes! I can't imagine Eustace talking to an animal by choice.
Exactly. It may just be a change, due to their being more then just Reep on board this version of the voyage.
Ooh, very nice, FK! Thanks for sharing.
Apparently, the writers have combined some of the episodes in the book to create a goal to defeat the "darkness" that threatens Narnia. It seems that they have to land on the dark island and follow a "blue star" to Ramandu's island.
Meh.
Eustace sitting among some barrels, writing in his notebook. He asks an albatross on a barrel if he talks too, and a nearby minotaur laughs at him talking to animals.
Now, that sounds a bit better. And, he has his diary!

I would probably agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that it later mentions that the fate of Narnia depends on them reaching Ramandu's Island... Clearly there is some sort of change in circumstances that takes them from a situation where there is no threat to Narnia, and Caspian is unsure why the Children would even be there in the first place (which as you say would be much more in line with the book), to a situation where they realise the entire fate of Narnia depends on them getting to Ramandu's Island (which is much more in line with the whole unfathomable fate thing).
The most logical place for such a plot development to occur would be on the Lone Islands, where Lord Bern will surely provide ample amount of exposition to establish the basis for the quest.

Meh.
Yeah, Meh indeed.
However, that said, i'd be much more in favour of having the Dark Island be the background threat that is putting Narnia in danger, rather than say have it be the LOTGK.
Hey, is Eustace already redeemed when he's tlaking to a bird? If so, awesome!

I do wonder what is up with Eustace talking to a seagull and then the minotaur laughing at him. It should be the other way around.
Is there really that much from the leaked script in there?
Lady_Liln, I do wonder just how much of the leaked script might be in there. I believe in that script, Lucy gets caught on the rudder of the Dawn Treader, and it sounds like that may be what's going to happen.
I suspected that the blue star and the stone knife additions would make it in. While on one hand I like Ramda being in more scenes to set up her part of the story more, I'm wondering what the entire movie will turn out to be like with all these new subplots.
Being that the Stone Knife is the one that killed Aslan, it is supposed to be "held in honor" and never touched. I'm thinking a big plot line may have sprung out of that particular part when Ramda talks.
Edit: No sign of Ramandu yet? Odd.
However, that said, i'd be much more in favour of having the Dark Island be the background threat that is putting Narnia in danger, rather than say have it be the LOTGK.
Me too! I'm glad to see news of Dark Island, especially since I had thought it had been cut from the script!
I am so happy! it sounds awesome!!!!!
not sure what to think of the bit with Lucy and MLG.....I will have to see for myself whenever the real trailer comes out!

Odd. Why would they change it?

Times changing? Sounds too much like "Everything you know is about to change." But that could be just me.
*Edmund and Lucy in Narnian clothes in Caspian's cabin. Edmund wonders why they have been called to Narnia if there is no war or trouble.
From this it sounds like the original intent of the voyage has not changed, but something changes along the way. I assume the something changing has to do with the Stone Knife.
*Coriaken unrolls a huge map, his voiceover telling them of the perils ahead. Apparently, the writers have combined some of the episodes in the book to create a goal to defeat the "darkness" that threatens Narnia. Okay, so while they're out at sea something happens in Narnia and they get word of it. How, I don't know, but that's not important. It sounds like Dufflepud Island is going to be closer to the beginning than the end. As for the blue star.....bleh. I don't mind a glowing star (after all, they are stars ), but blue?
*Eustace sitting among some barrels, writing in his notebook. He asks an albatross on a barrel if he talks too, and a nearby minotaur laughs at him talking to animals.
Sounds like they're keeping Eustace's diary. This scene sounds really funny.
*A dragon shadow swooping across a mountainside.
Finally!
*Ramandu's daughter emerging out of light. She welcomes the group to Aslan's table.
If the light is the light coming out of the hillside then it sounds just like the book to me.
*Coriaken with the crew of the DT. He throws some white stuff in Eustace's direction and says something, maybe a spell. Lucy asks Coriaken what the white stuff was, and he replies, "Lint, but don't tell him that."
The overview of the trailer from subjectofthehighking helped clear things up a bit for me. Not really any specific plot points, but it gives me a better idea of the overall feel of the trailer/movie.
A lot of this stuff I simply have to see/hear before I decide. Some of the dialogue seems weird, but a lot can depend on an actor/actresses delivery, so I'll wait and see. I tend to think it just looks odd written out, as none of the reports said anything about it looking weird/strange/etc.

The "trailer" starts with a sweeping view of a church with lion gargoyles, 20th century people exiting the doors below. Aslan's voice speaks in the background about times changing.
I wonder if this voiceover is actually from the end of the film?
*Edmund and Lucy in Narnian clothes in Caspian's cabin. Edmund wonders why they have been called to Narnia if there is no war or trouble.

I think that, Although I still do not like this change, it could have been much worse. This way, they don't mess with any of the character's motives. Caspian, for instance, still leaves Narnia to find the missing lords only, not to save Narnia from an evil fate. Also, I think I can live of the darkness itself being the enemy. This way, they are not really making up something new, but they are just expanding and adding stuff to what Lewis wrote. And, it's not like the lady in the green Kirtle is behind it, unless she summoned the dark Island. And darkness itself is pretty original, moviewise, which is always important.
As the blue star is RD, it makes sense to have the darkness being pouched back by the light of a star, a star that had to stay in Narnia to protect it. But then, what in SC, When she dies?
*Footage of Gael and Lucy. Gael says to Lucy in a ship's cabin, "When I grow up, I want to be just like you." Lucy replies by putting her arm around Gael and saying, "When you grow up, I want you to be just like you."
I don't know why, but arm around her makes it feel less cheesy.
*Eustace sitting among some barrels, writing in his notebook. He asks an albatross on a barrel if he talks too, and a nearby minotaur laughs at him talking to animals.
Great, Eustace actually has his diary! Fun little detail.
Reepicheep climbing a mast.
sounds like a cool shot!
Ramandu's daughter emerging out of light. She welcomes the group to Aslan's table.
Lucy looking on a door that opens out of nowhere, with light beyond, presumably the door in the sky.
Sounds like some cool visual effects.
The footage ends as other trailers have, the Narnia logo sweeping away, this time made of finished stone.
Stone, cool! although water would have been cooler.
I agree with NL101; I want to actually see the trailer before I make any real assumptions about it. So far, it sounds pretty good, though I'm not really sure about the MLG/RD/stone knife subplots. They don't seem terrible, and at least it's slightly better than the "unfathomable fate."The scene with Eustace and the seagull sounds very funny .
Now I've started to get really excited again! It can't be long until the trailer comes out!
Just for the record, there isn't actually any direct evidence in the trailer reports that says there will be any sub-plot involving the Stone Knife
It was merely me making an assumption based on the fact that one of the descriptions apparently says the fate of Narnia depends on them reaching Ramandu's Island (coupled with the pre-existing evidence of the Bell Tower scene from the leaked script). There could however be other reasons why reaching Ramandu's Island is so important to Narnia's fate.
For instance, none of these reports have mentioned anything about the Seven Lords' Seven Swords which came up in the previous footage screening.
Ooooh, spoilers spoilers SPOILERS!! *dances ecstatically* I really needed this.
My thoughts are... very mixed. Mostly positive though. These reports really make me look forward to seeing the movie... lots of things that sound really great!
And then, of course, theres those few parts that make me cringe a bit. The "Unfathomable Fate" deal has been bugging me every since it showed up, and now as we're starting to get small glimpses of what it could be, I'm still annoyed. I guess they think they need some sort of over-arching plot to connect the segments of the story better... Just exploring and finding seven lords isn't enough, I s'pose. But still, if their main agenda (as the reports seem to indicate) is to reach Ramandu's Island, why even continue to the end of the world? Seems like the new plotline kinda reduces the Aslan's Country bit into a little anti-climactic add-on at the end or something. With the fate of Narnia on everyone's mind, I don't see how there could be much fanciful longing to see the end of the world or anything. I hope it doesn't turn into a sort of "Oh, hey, while we're so far east, why not drop in and pay Aslan a visit in his home, eh?" thing. But, I have faith in the filmmakers... I trust they'll make sure it's not like that.
As for RD glowing blue... Say what??? I don't really hate the idea, I guess, it kind of makes sense... but it's weird. Anyway, I'm really excited by all this news, and I can't wait for more... Bring on the trailer!!

Here is what I think of every single line of this trailer:
*The “trailer” starts with a sweeping view of a church with lion gargoyles, 20th century people exiting the doors below. Aslan’s voice speaks in the background about times changing.
Hmm…….why a church? Are Aunt Alberta and Uncle Harold going to come out of the church with Eustace and act really weird. Or will Aunt Alberta be gossiping about the Pevensies.
*Edmund and Lucy in Eustace’s bedroom. Edmund asks Lucy if she has seen the ship in the picture before. Lucy smiles and says it’s very Narnian.
Well, I got to say that is pretty accurate to the book. What else can I say?
*Eustace, Edmund, and Lucy in Eustace’s bedroom, with water pouring out of the picture frame and filling the bedroom. They swim in the water and emerge at the surface with the Dawn Treader.
We already knew they were changing this. I am not surprised.
*Edmund and Lucy in Narnian clothes in Caspian’s cabin. Edmund wonders why they have been called to Narnia if there is no war or trouble.
Edmund never says anything about wondering that in the book. That’s all I have to say.
*Lucy walks down the hall to the magician’s book. She opens it as Aslan’s voice speaks in the background. Snow falls as she gazes around in wonder.
Well, it could be that these things are not even related. I don’t know since I didn’t even see the trailer. Lucy does walk down a hall.
Another clip of the book includes Lucy looking on the page of the spell of beauty beyond the lot of mortals, and her image in the books morphs into an image of Susan.
Really weird. Unless her looking beautiful beyond a lot of mortals is looking like Susan, and I hope beyond hope I am wrong, that doesn’t make any sense.
*Coriaken unrolls a huge map, his voiceover telling them of the perils ahead. Apparently, the writers have combined some of the episodes in the book to create a goal to defeat the “darkness” that threatens Narnia. It seems that they have to land on the dark island and follow a “blue star” to Ramandu’s island.
Huh? Really the ‘‘blue star’’ is true? Come on guys, the reason everyone was enraged about the leaked VDT script is partly, because of the ‘‘blue star’’ element.
*Footage of Gael and Lucy. Gael says to Lucy in a ship’s cabin, “When I grow up, I want to be just like you.” Lucy replies by putting her arm around Gael and saying, “When you grow up, I want you to be just like you.”
Just like Lucy. At least she isn’t out of character.
Another scene includes Lucy comforting Gael as she misses her mother by telling her to trust in Aslan.
This seems to confirm the Slave girl theory.
*Eustace sitting among some barrels, writing in his notebook. He asks an albatross on a barrel if he talks too, and a nearby minotaur laughs at him talking to animals.Okay, is this before or after he changes? Wait, I just had a thought. But I hope this isn’t it. Eustace liking beetles pinned on cards, is now a sorta of scientist in this movie and is writting down all the facts about animals in this new world.
*A dragon shadow swooping across a mountainside.
Okay, cool. What color is he?
*Coriaken becoming visible again: a table of books begin to blur as his image moves, not blending in with his surroundings anymore. We see him become visible? Wow, ruins the fun there.
*Reepicheep climbing a mast.
Really cool.
*Ramandu’s daughter emerging out of light. She welcomes the group to Aslan’s table.Hmm….From the book. But who is Ramandu?
*Lucy looking on a door that opens out of nowhere, with light beyond, presumably the door in the sky.Could be cool if it really is that.
*Edmund, Eustace and Lucy on a beach with Aslan, presumably at the end of the world. Lucy asks if they will return.Yes! Another accurate part to the book, brawahaa!
As more clips play, Aslan’s voiceover speaks the line of them knowing him by another name in their world. We already knew that, I wish I had seen this part.
*Coriaken with the crew of the DT. He throws some white stuff in Eustace’s direction and says something, maybe a spell. Lucy asks Coriaken what the white stuff was, and he replies, “Lint, but don’t tell him that.”So, they meet Coriaken after Eustace changes? I assume this is to make Eustace think Coriaken made him either brave, courageous, or something to that effect.
*The footage ends as other trailers have, the Narnia logo sweeping away, this time made of finished stone.Maybe the rock that King Caspian threw the golden arm bracelet to is this one. Cross your fingers.
I am not disapointed I am excited but I am a Narnia Purist.
At this point, considering we've seen nothing of Ramandu and have not heard any casting announcement, I'm ready to assume he has been cut from the film. Probably think it would be too confusing to the audience or some such nonsensical reasoning.
Unloads all the anger over all the disappointing things in this movie so that I will never have to do it again and completely ruin my movie experience: Screams, bangs head against walls, throws stuff, takes a picture a Gael and pins it to the dart board! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Okay, so I might have exaggerated a bit, but now I am done and nothing can come along that will annoy me because I have already been annoyed by it and expended my anger.
Now, I have nothing left to say but that I am so STOKED! From the Dark Island, to Coriakin and his great book, to Dragon Eustace, to the picture in the bedroom, to the end of the world and Aslan saying "There I have another name", you name it, it is there! That is so awesome!
