Worst:
~ Dark Island. It felt so... silly. Except for the looks of the sea serpent. And there was no meaning to the albatross!
~ The Narrowhaven battle. ARGH! So unnecessary and the shots were cut far too quickly.
~ The Green Mist sacrifice. Enough said.
Best:
~ Lucy and the Book - minus the GM, at any rate. I liked the snow spell.
~ The Silver Sea of lilies at the edge of the world. Stunning.
~ Caspian and Edmund's "Duel" That scene has the overall tone I wanted for VDT.

Worst (I can go on and on about this, but I will try to keep it simple.)
1. Lucy's and Edmund's character. Especially the part when the picture is coming to life, and Edmund and Eustace are arguing in the background we hear Ed say that he licked all of the sweets Eustace stole....WHAT????? Is that what a king of Narnia would do? And I won't even start on Lucy. I was very, very disappointed.
2. Ok, the mist and swords! Ugh, they couldn't think of anything more cheesy and stupid. *&%^$@!%!!!! And I didn't know that Father Christmas gave Peter Sting? Where did he get it from . And that Aslan cloned seven more and gave them to some Telmarine lords who didn't even believe in him and hated lions. Hmmmm it's amazing how mixed up the minds of the scriptwriters where. Do you know if they are the same ones who are writing The Hobbit? Maybe they mixed up the papers or something
3. Dragon Eustace. I didn't like the fact that Eustace stays a dragon when they set out for sea. It's amazing how the directors love to do exactly the opposite of what the books say. In the book Lewis goes through a long description of why they can't take dragon Eustace with them. And in the movie, that's exactly what we see them doing!
Best (Yes, I have to admit, there were SOME nice things there)
1. The transition into Narnia. It was well done, I loved the way the water filled into the room and then they pop out in the middle of the ocean.
2. Eustace. He was everything I thought her would be. I just loved how one hated him in the beginning, and then loves him in the end.
3. The transition from Narnia to our world. I really liked how the water goes down, but they're all dry. The whole last scene, with Eustace putting the picture back was very touching.

Best.
1) The Silver sea where the children speak to Aslan again right up until the end of the film. "And we will all miss them till the end of time."
2) The transition into Narnia.
3) When Lucy gets captured by the dufflepuds and speaks to them outside the magicians house and then enters and speaks to the magician.
Some much hate, but let' see.
1) The fact that Eustace earns his undragoning.
2) The dialogue where Lucy says it is tempting us. I think that was after the Edmund/Caspian almost fight in the cave or maybe when they talk in the hold i can't remember which.
3) The dialogue where Lucy speaks to the little girl about forgiveness. I mean talk about heavy handed. Just terrible.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
Worst:
1) The Green Mist Sacrifice. Enough said.
2) Eustace's transformation back into a human- If he didn't fly into the air I'd be happy.
3) The clash with the slave traders- complete turnaround of what the book says.
Best:
1) Transitions to and from Narnia. I love the water flowing into the rooms.
2) Edmund and Caspian's Duel
3) When Reep comforts Dragon Eustace on the beach. <-Love love love that scene!
I was going to make a favorite scene thread the other day, but gP beat me to it

I am going to completely agree that the Green Mist is the thing about the film i dislike the most, but it wasn't really a moment so i didn't put it on my list.

Sorry...am a bit over 3 items per best and worst!
Best moments in VDT:
1. Entrance into Narnia, cool execution staging and effects-wise.
2. Eustace's scenes with Reep, particularly the Duel and the Fireside-Dragon-Can't-Sleep-chat. All of Will Poulter's scenes as a boy.
3. Magician's Mansion set with the interactive voyage map and Dufflepuds
4. Exit/Farewell to Narnia with great water/special/visual effects and scoring, and good acting all-around.
Worst moments in VDT:
1. Green mist...
2. Edmund "Goldwater/Deathwater" scene with Caspian ("I'm tired of being second fiddle....")
3. Lucy wanting to be pretty like Susan.
4. Dragon-Eustace Revelation scene (I AM EUSTACE)---drastically different from the book; no Ed and Eustace moment after the undragoning, Dragon-Eustace pulling the DT by his tail, and Eustace fighting the sea serpent as a dragon instead of as a boy...

Best:
As good as the painting entry into Narnia was, and the return back into Cambridge, I don't think I'll list them. I'd also feel I was only repeating what everyone else said if I mentioned Eustace putting the picture back on the wall. I much prefer that ending to that stupid linking arms thingy and collectively looking at something in the middle distance that movie endings sometimes involve. (cough! cough! HPDH2 & Empire strikes back)
These are the three moments I chose:
1. Eustace making fun of the quest to Ramandu's Island whilst running away from work on Ramandu's Island - no, anything to do with Eustace and especially with Reepicheep.
2. I loved the Magician's Island scenery, especially how Coriakin's mansion and the Dufflepuds became visible. I also loved the Magician's book, Lucy reading it, the beauty spell and the cleverness of the spell to make things visible. I even liked the way the film dealt with Lucy's temptation to use the beauty spell.
3. The Aslan's table scenery was also spectacular and I loved the artistry in the vegetating 3 missing lords.
As annoying as people found the green mist and the Narrowhaven sacrifice to it, I'd prefer to come up with different criteria:
These are my choices for worst:
1. Edmund poking his tongue out at Eustace. This is a childish gesture which looks worse on the screen. There are other ways of showing displeasure. Even Edmund's giving Eustace the finger would have been more dignified and age appropriate.
2. That scene with Eustace talking to the bird and Tavros and Rhince making fun of him. Why shouldn't Eustace have a meaningful conversation with a seagull? There are other talking birds in Narnia.
3. Not enough dialogue in the undragonning. Sometimes the audience needs to be absolutely clear what is going on.
Worst: (hard to choose just three)
1. The Aslan/Eustace fake-out: After the mist is destroyed, Edmund says "it wasn't just us though." Yay! They're going to credit Aslan somehow! Lucy: "You mean..." and we cut to Eustace in the water. 100 to 0 in an instant. It felt like a practical joke from the filmmakers. A good, hard kick in the stomach.
2. Lone Islands fight: It's like they were intentionally trying to destroy this part of the book. A very cheesy scene.
3. First scene with the mist: *facepalm*
Best: (not necessarily good)
1. The Baynes credits: Very fun to see Pauline Baynes artwork, subtly animated with added detail.
2. The second big wide shot of the Dawn Treader: Really powerful shot, and the VFX are seamless. The nostalgic music is used perfectly. They even follow it up with Lucy walking into Caspian's room and seeing the cold carving of Aslan. It's a nice "so good to be back" moment. (And then she has to ruin the moment by saying the obvious: "Aslan." She then proceeds to narrate the rest of the scene for us)
3. The Picture in the Bedroom transition: Seamless effects, fun scene. (ruined by terrible VFX when Lucy surfaces)
Best:
the whole Dark Island sequence
the whole entering Narnia sequence
everything else in the movie
I don't have anything that I thought was worst...

Best:
1. Eustace for the whole film. A lot of the scenes were cheesy and didn't make sense, but Will's acting was fantastic. A perfect Eustace.
2. "In your world I have another name." The effects were really good for the end of the world, but I didn't like the dialogue and how Reepicheep earned going to Aslan's country and all that, so it's just that one line.
3. The credits- I love the illustrations
Worst: (Do I really need to cut it down to three?)
1. Lone Islands. Haven't they read the book?? The whole point of the scene was to use a clever plan to outwit the governor and NOT fight! It was fast paced with plot holes.
2. The dark island. Was it nightmares? Was it temptations? Was it their fears? It didn't make sense. The green mist itself was terrible, but especially during the dark island scene. It didn't make sense and why was the White Witch there? She wouldn't be a temptation for Edmund. He got over her in LWW after she tried to kill him and his family and clearly didn't want anything to do with her in PC. The sea serpent didn't make sense either. Why was it Edmund's worst fear? Why didn't anyone else's worst fear/nightmare/temptation come to life? Why didn't the swords being placed on Aslan's table stop the mist? Why was Rhindon blue? Why didn't Aslan get any credit?
3. Eustace's undragoning is my favorite scene in the whole Chronicles of Narnia. It has taught me so much spiritually and is one of the most important scenes of the book. Whatever message they were trying to convey, it didn't come out. I saw a dragon scratch its belly like my grandpa and then turn into a boy like Beauty and the Beast and Pinocchio.
Best (Hmmm...were there any??? Ok, there must have been some)
1) I like many of the shots of the Dawn Treader sailing through the seas. She did look magnificent just by herself on the waters.
2) I liked the duel between Caspian and Edmund on the ship. It was well-filmed, nicely done, cleanly performed. It was enjoyable and entertaining to watch. It did seem to stick out a bit in the plot (was it really necessary for us to see that Caspian and Edmund were equally good sword-masters?) but on the other hand it was nice to get your eyes away from all the horrible plot twists and actually get entertained.
3) Definitely Eustace. He's the only thing I wanted to finish the movie for.
Worst -
1) I agree with De_De, and think you listed them really well. I really couldn't stand Lucy's character for 5 minutes after I first saw her. her faces and lines were way, way, waaay to cheesy, they were cheaply performed...she was just too weak. Edmund did a much, much better job in PC...here he was just too weak and his lines and character were too tweaked and corny. No offense, but they were bad.
2) Narrowhaven. Bad, bad, bad. Too little people, too stupid of a plot - the whole thing was just random. Why did ALL THE KINGS AND QUEENS GO OFF ALONE INTO A CREEPY, OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS PLACE???? Does that even make sense??? That's why kings and queens have scouts!!! One thing is if it's like in the book where they're going on island they know (or presume) to be empty and want to stretch their legs on dry grass, but entering a gloomy, haunted-looking, dreary, frightening and creepy city??? Even I wouldn't do something like that! And there were too little people n the slave market, everything was just too weak.
3) Everything from the blue swords, Ramandu's Daughter, to the Dark Island and Green Mist. RED LIGHT RED LIGHT RED LIGHT!!!!! Just bad.

WORST MOMENTS
1. Green Mist.
I am going to agree with everyone here and go with the "Green Mist Sacrifice" ugh it was aweful.
2. Caspian's Cabin.
When Lucy, Ed, and Caspian are in Caspian's cabin in the ship. There are a number of dumb moments in this scene Including some poor line delivery by GH ("My heeling cordial and dagger" - so awkwardly delivered. The whole susan reference, and the whole thing where Lucy sees the face of aslan and does this awkward pause and touch.")
3. The Entire Lone Island sequence.
If I am watching the movie by myself I just fast forward it.
BEST MOMENTS
1. Transition to Narnia.
It was Magical, exciting, creative and well cut.
2. Coriakin's Island.
I know it was changed a lot from the book, but it was so cool. The dufflepuds were some much needed comedy, the animation was amazing (door in the garden, the invisible mansion), It was insteresting and exciting. It seemed to me that the people in the theaters were very engaged with the movie during this scene (I saw the movie eight times so I liked to watch people's reactions).
3. The closing scene Near Aslan's country.
It was vivid and surprisingly not cheesy (except for the blantant Christian reference by ASLAN).
I loved the animation. I loved that they didn't show a lot of Aslan's country, they kind of left it to our imaginations. That made it better for me.
It's far easier to name the "worst" scenes over the "best", but so very hard to name just three when I could elaborate for days. I'm going on a two view critique, so I guess that doesn't say much in my analysis, but I don't know if I can endure another viewing of the film.
"Best":
1. The transition into Narnia. The effects look incredible in this scene and I really like the fact that the ocean pours into the room out of the painting.
2. The end of the world. Again, stunning visual effects and the color scheme is beautiful. I also like the shadow effect as Aslan walks up to the group and then appears before them. Georgie's acting in the farewell is one of her better ones for VDT. I am glad that some sense was talked into those in charge to include Aslan's monologue about knowing him by his other name.
3. Lucy and the Magician's book. I really like the effects here of Lucy's image fading into Susan's. One appreciates how much the two actresses look alike and how they really could be sisters. I dislike the fact that this becomes more of Lucy wanting to be Susan rather than being beautiful like Susan (such as seen back on board the Dawn Treader when Lucy recites the spell and appears as Susan). However, I do like that we still see flaws in Lucy's character- that she's not the perfect person as some people view her in LWW.
"Worst"- it's hard to pick just three, so I have to go with what comes to mind first.
1. The green mist. Okay, it's not a scene, but it's basically been made into a main character, so I have to mention it. The visual effects are terrible, it's almost a joke. It's well worth noting that when I saw this film with a friend (this was their first viewing), when the green mist appeared for the first time, my friend clearly stated: "wow, I can't take this film seriously". I have to mention this because the first two films could be taken seriously. You need the serious factor to be able to take the Narnian creatures seriously (that they are real and that there are perils in their world). The real problem with the mist becomes "the devil made me do it". The thing is, when the characters do these acts in the book, no one is telling them one to do, no one is bewitching them, they act on their own accord. With the mist, suddenly we have perfect characters who have been "bewitched" by the mist and therefore have not faulted. In the book, the characters realize their mistakes, feel bad about them, but are able to move on and learn from what they have done.
Such repetition of the mist appearing when a character does soemthing wrong becomes too predictable and unthreatening. Isn't that what the mist is supposed to be, evil and threatening? If that's the goal, well, the mist has become more of a joke rather than anything that should be feared.
2. Dark Island. What's great about this in the book and the BBC version is that Dark Island is a mystery, the crew of the Dawn Treader enters a strange mist (a kind far better than the green variety) and gets lost within it. Their fear comes from the unknown, they've been lost in the dark and fear they have spent too much time getting out. In the film, we have a dark, sparkling green mass. Ramandu's Daughter points to the island to tell the crew that this is the source of the "evil". Shouldn't that be obvious, a big dark blob in the middle of the ocean? It seems cliche and silly. Thankfully it wasn't an oppurtunity to use Edmund's line again, the one with the invisible mansion ("what dark island?"... "Oh, that dark island." Ugh.)
3. Eustace being undragoned. Another perfect cliche- he rises into the air, we pan around him and there's gold sparkles everywhere, he then falls to the ground as a human. This format is probably used in every fairy tale movie we've ever seen (Shrek, Beauty and the Beast, need I say more?). However, I do like the use of silence in this scene. We've come from a battle against the serpent to a serene scene with no dialogue between Eustace and Aslan.
Best: (not necessarily good)
1. The Baynes credits: Very fun to see Pauline Baynes artwork, subtly animated with added detail.
I agree, but my problem with this was in fact that the illustrations were included. It seems disrespectful to attach beautiful illustrative work to a mediocre film. The two shouldn't even be connected- they're in two different groups entirely.

Best
-Lucy and the book, especially the snow spell
-The Aslan's table and the appearing of the blue start
-Reepicheep's courage and how he left everything for going to Aslan's nation
"Worst"
-I don't remember Lewis mentioning a green mist and sacrifices...
-Why they put a bird? (I think an albatross) on the dark island? Was It Aslan help?... oh I understand now...
