Well, there is a setup for Eustace coming back. Lucy asks Aslan if Eustace will never come back either and Aslan replies "Child, do you really need to know that?" Which implies that he will. Eustace is critical in VDT, if they don't get his character right, then no one will want to see him in SC and LB. So far though, he seems all right.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not. But, I think that it would make the most since with the Calormens invading Narnia. And I also think that could tie in with the 'unfathomable fate'. TASH. Perhaps the Calormens have called Tash up and then Tash wants to put a curse over Narnia?
That seems the most probable to me.
I met Georgie and Skandar AND saw the film in one evening.
The thought of the curse got me to thinking. What if the LOTGK doesn't show up in this movie as a character, but is mentioned as part of a plot to overthrow Narnia? My ideas are very random at this point, but it might be some ways to provide a cliffhanger, set up for the Silver Chair and involve the Calormenes. Maybe the Caloremenes have decided to get a bit of magic on their side and have made a deal with the green witch. And for that matter who is the LOTGK. What if she were a fallen star perhaps even Ramandu's ex-wife who has been banished to the North of Narnia (remember the inscription of all being "under me" from SC). Perhaps the Caloremenes have gotten her to curse the Narnians ( perhaps she has been seducing and selling Narnian slaves in their markets???) Maybe one of the 7 Lords has been a slave in the Tisroc's palace and learned of this (maybe he escaped or is an additional Lord or Narnian or not included in the 7) Perhaps getting to the end of the world, marrying Ramandu's daughter, etc. are the only way to render this witch powerless--making it so she can never lead a human army or country. This could all be said by other characters and have the LOTGK never seen or even specifically described so she could still be a surprise in SC. This could also explain her reason for subjecting the gnomes (not human) and her rage against Narnia, Caspian and Ramandu's daughter as well as her need to rule by proxy--Prince Rillian who is human. Anyway, a rather bizarre idea, but if we have to have a connecting plotline and smacks in any way of LOTGK this is the kind of idea I could live with.
Well, it kinda sounds like they are trying to make the story tie in with the other books, so it makes more sense.
A Lady of Narnia Always a Lady of Narnia
oh I hope they don't change it too much
I hope they don't too, but since we know they are going to make some changes, I'm trying to come up with scenarios that don't make me lose my lunch I still hope they stick as close to the book as possible, that's why I would prefer "changes" in areas the books are not completely clear about instead of changing what is specifically clear.
I think there's a steady line through the whole book: Finding the seven lost lords. That's the whole point of the trip.
Aslandaughter, that sort of idea is so out of step with what CSLewis wrote, that it would never be considered by those who have to approve script ideas.
How could the character in a book that Lewis has not even thought of (he expected VDT to be the last story) be part of the essential action of this film?
I can assure you that such ideas and links will NOT be part of this film.
In fact, they are close to being considered fan fiction.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
Someone mentioned an idea to me the other day that I thought I'd mention here....
What if this unfathomable fate somehow has something to do with Tash?
What if this unfathomable fate somehow has something to do with Tash?
Yikes! That would be weird. I don't know. To me, Tash seems more like the one creature in The Thirteen Clocks(sorry if you haven't read it, it's a good book), that lurks around in the shadows and eats evil people who weren't as evil as they could have been, rather than someone who plots to take over the world or destroys things. It's possible, I guess. But I somehow doubt it.
Was it ever "confirmed" that the Lady of the Green Kirtle WOULD NOT be in the movie?
Or was it confirmed that that specific script with her would not be used and everyone assumed that meant the LotGK would not appear in it?
And even if they said she wouldnt be in the movie at one point, they could have always changed their minds before finishing the final draft.
Winter Is Coming
Was it ever "confirmed" that the Lady of the Green Kirtle WOULD NOT be in the movie?
Yes it was. Can't tell you if it won't reference her in some way or another, but she will not be in the movie.
I know she was in the early script, but I doubt the Lady of the Green Kirtle will even be mentioned, seeing that the events of The Silver Chair are meant to take place several decades after VDT. Its not very believable, in my mind, that she would still be relevant during the times of SC if she is causing problems so many years earlier.
There were lots of reasons why that leaked draft script was utterly rejected; the idea of introducing LOTGK was only one of them.
You can trust Narniaweb on this - we have impeccable sources even though not everything they tell us can be posted on the site!

Please let me clarify that my crazy LOTGK idea was not what I would actually want in the movie. My first preference is that they simply stick to the books. I always thought the quest to find the missing lords (and Reep's desire to reach the end of the world) was quite sufficient as a plot line. I've just been wracking my brain to think of ways they might change it based on what has been said so far that wouldn't totally shred VDT's existing storyline. I'm glad that those more in the know than I, don't think such a scenario at all likely. I like expanding the Caloreman/slavery idea the most so far. I really hope that the "fate of Narnia" doesn't rest in the balance. It's actually one of the nice things about VDT. A country enough at peace that they can focus on other matters. The only one of the Chronicles of that kind.
