I'm interested in discussing the "Eustace and Reepicheep" duel that you can see on Aslan's country.com. The link for it is at the end of the Ice Palace report under "sneak peek".
Anyone have comments on this footage? When I first heard about a duel between Eustace and Reepicheep, I thought it took place when Reepicheep confronts him during the food shortage. But now it appears to be a friendly sparring match--instructional even due to Reep's line at the end "Good match--I'll make a swordsman out of you yet." and the way Eustace smiles at him. But what is that weapon he's using? Something tells me that's not Caspian's second best sword. It looks like a huge kitchen knife.
What do you all think?
I honestly don't know, but I don't think we shouldn't be too afraid about this until we see more. I was a bit concerned when I saw Eustace grinning after Reepicheep said something, but I feel a bit better about it since it's not as nice of a smile as we have seen him do later on after he changes. I think this will really be a scene full of humor and comedy ("It's like a dance, partner, a dance!"), but I still hope that after this we'll still see the tension between Eustace and Reepicheep.
Besides that, I bet this scene will be awesome!
If I'd known I would have asked about it when I interviewed Will on Friday.
But he did say:
GlimGlum: Was there a favorite day of filming?
Will Poulter: I really enjoyed the whole experience. But one of my most favorite days was actually the fight with Reepicheep on the boat. I absolutely loved that. That was such a really good fight.
So whatever the context or weapons, Will had fun doing that scene and it took a whole day to film.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.

My guess is Eustace will smile and then realize he's smiling at a talking mouse and start scowling at him. A hint to show that there's a real boy yearning for adventure under his skin.

My overview of VODT: http://lady-lirenel.livejournal.com/151965.html
It could be when he changed. We don't know they could take some time at the end of the film before they go to the end of the World. It really would be a nice show of how Eustace is trying to learn how to be useful now that he is a boy again in battles.
The entire clip seems really cheesy, I hope it doesn't come out that way in the movie.
It seems to be more of an instructional type of thing. Like, how Eustace learns how to use a sword during his time on the DT, after his transformation. I kind of would rather see the fight being over the food and all that, before he changes, but this would be cool to see as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think it has to be before his change because he is wearing his English clothes.

I believe the basis for the Reepicheep/Eustace fight has been revealed in a few of the spoiler based reports, such as the following report from LatinoReview:

A similar basis for the duel is hinted at in the Leaked Script where:
I don't like the idea of the duel before he changes at all. It looks like it happens before he changes based on the clothes and the spoiler icarus posted. I don't think Reep would be that playful after someone grabbed his tail.

It would be absolutely terrible if they portrayed a noble character being nice to someone after that someone has been unkind to them! Reep playing around with the pre-redeemed Eustace?! What is that?! Are they teaching kids to love their enemies and be good to those who are unkind to them?! What is this world coming to?! *sarcasm not intended to offend so please don't take it that way*
I have to say, as a Christian who is pretty fond of morals and such, I really don't have a problem with this particular deviation from the book. Being good to those who do wrong to you is a good moral even if that particular act of kindness toward Eustace was not in the book. I say if the filmmakers found yet another way to teach kids (and adults) morals and values, GOOD FOR THEM! I'm proud and I think Mr. Lewis would be as well.
^Bravo, AslanIsOnTheMove!
We can't really draw out what's happening here(darn cut-down editions! ), but I think there's more to what's going on here then what we're getting. When we finally get a better look at this in less than a month, I'm sure we'll feel better about this scene. Like I've said before, I'm not really concerned about Reepicheep being nice to Eustace, but how this affects the two's relationship(although I feel better about it now ).
May this scene rock when it's really revealed!
You all need to go on over to AslansCountry once again! There are FIVE new clips up, and they are great! They even have one up of Aslan's dialogue with Lucy, and it is better than I was expecting!
