Ben Barnes I'd say is kinda used to accents by now. So far, to my knowledge he has done Russian, American, Telmarine and I think I'm forgetting one. Oh well. Just thought I'd throw that in the conversation. As I've said, I love the accent. I hope they keep it and have different accents on different islands :D that'd be great imo

Elijah Woods had a British accent? I didn't know there was a such thing.

have you ever seen LOTR? he faked a British accent the whole three movies and did it amazingly well!

They should keep the accents, but please tone down Caspian's!! It was so fake that it distracted from what was going on.

I think Bookwyrm was saying that there really isn't a "British accent" per say because in the UK there are so many different dialects spoken that it's hard to really define any given one as being the British accent. ;)

I have mixed feelings about the Telmarine accents. On the one hand, I see what Andrew Adamson was trying to do with them. On the other hand, some people were annoyed by them or distracted by them or thought they were inconsistent or over the top.

But I am also big on consistency. Can't ,ake up my minf about them for VDT and beyond. :- So it will be interesting to see how the filmmakers decided to handle this.

So everybody keep a sharp ear out for what is spoken and by whom when the trailer comes to theaters (aka the cinema :D). And if any additional footage is shown to special groups, please listen for those accents. ;)

Yep, bkey is right. There is no such thing as a British accent. What you're thinking of is an English accent.

i dont think Ben Barnes's spanish accent sounded bad. A lot of my friends thought he was Mexican and we are Mexican so if we thought it was authentic, then it couldnt have been that bad.

CorazonBandido, you leave me without a leg to stand on. You seriously thought the accent sounded real? Well, ok then. All I can say is that as an American I thought it sounded fake and very forced. I desperately hope they pull back the accent. Though, admittedly, for the sake of consistency it should still be there. I just wish Adamson hadn't chained us to this bad idea in the first place. I'd love to hear all of the Telmarine lords have rich cultured English accents.

true..... :p yeah, I guess, I generalized the accents in the UK......

I think Ben Barnes did an awesome job with his accent in PC! my dad thought that was his real accent and I had to explain that he was faking! :D :)

I don't think the Australian actors would use their Australian accents, since that would be just weird and out of place. Since ben barnes would be sounding different to them....

I definitely voted for LOVE and keep!

It was a wonderful addition to me, another detail deepening the insight into the Telmarine cultures, the way they were based off Spaniards/Italians (could they be a lost ship of Spain en route to America after Columbus? :p ), and combined with the BREATHTAKING costumes by Isis and the set and all other details, it was simply stunning. I must say the deep exploration of Telmarine culture overwhelmed me the very first time I saw the film, which is really something, as I was mostly focused on the film itself.

And so, I definitely hope the accents will be kept, it was a charming addition to the Telmarine culture!

I've seen the movie 9 times!!! (PC)

Well, Im sorry you feel that way. But I thought it wasn't a bad idea we were chained to, but rather, a wonderful addition. Aslan's world is filled with different cultures and I found it fascinating that they explored this concept in PC, rather than have a mono-cultural fantasy world. I hope they continue to expand on this concept in future Narnia movies. To an extent, they will (box office permitting) since Calormen is so obviously different than Narnia...

I agree with Beginte and CorazonBandido55. Adamson bringing the Spanish ethnics and accents was the top best thing that he did for PC. Really I mean who wants ordinary world throughout the movie/series, that would be completely boring. It was best to bring in diversity and Caspian's accent didn't sound fake to me except for one split second that didn't bother me.

Um, have any of you actually read the books? :P The book Telmarines are descended from Polynesian islanders and English pirates. That's a lot more diverse than some guys with mismatching Mediterranean accents. :P ;)) Besides, the presence of their accents was a logical absurdity. If the Telmarines have been in Narnia for ten generations, why would they still have accents? And that's ignoring the unlikelihood of conquerors abandoning their native language for the language of people they've tried to drive into extinction.
