Tomorrow, CBS's 60 Minutes will air their interview with Greta Gerwig. They shared this image to their X (Twitter) account with the caption;
"Barbie" smashed box office records to become Warner Brothers’ highest-grossing film of all time. Now, filmmaker Greta Gerwig is putting her own stamp on two “Chronicles of Narnia” movies. 60 Minutes, Sunday.
Do you think we'll actually get any insight into Netflix's Narnia plans? Will you be watching? Post your quick prediction below on what (if anything) will be teased/revealed!
"Tollers, there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to try and write some ourselves." - C.S. Lewis
My bold prediction; Gerwig will share a personal story as to why she wants to adapt Narnia and her favourite book
My expectation; a variation of her "I'm still processing it all and I'm terrified & excited" quotes we've heard before 😉

Ordinarily my expectation would be the same. She's been remarkably consistent in what she's said so far!
However, if they do have the intention to get this into production sometime next year, then they will have to do some sort of big "announcement" event sooner rather than later.... and if they are smart they will make sure that the announcement comes before the Awards Season starts, so they can ride the free publicity of the Greta Gerwig hype train all the way through to Oscar Night.
Also, if LWW is one of the the two movies, then having that confirmed for more free holiday season Christmas press coverage seems like a smart move as well, and 60 Minutes feels like a big enough platform to start with.
I'm not banking on it, but I'd say there's perhaps a chance of something genuinely substantive.
If 60 minutes has an interview, she'll need to give them SOMETHING new and exclusive that hasn't been heard before. That doesn't necessarily need to be a Narnia related thing, but I bet we'll get some kind of tidbit. Or maybe some big bombshell?!?!??!? One can only hope.
I'm expecting for her to say something and probably a bit more than we've heard her say at any other point so far, but how much more than that?
If Netflix would like a soundbite where Gerwig explains what these mysterious two Narnia films are going to be, then 60 Minutes seems like a great platform to do that. The clip can travel all over social media immediately afterwards.
So, we'll see! Fingers crossed...

I didn't say it, but I am really, REALLY hoping that's exactly what they reveal.
Next, Gerwig is taking on a big franchise. She's directing and writing two "Chronicles of Narnia" movies. She confessed putting her stamp on the beloved C.S. Lewis classics is giving her nightmares.
Greta Gerwig: Yeah, whenever I'm stuck, I go for walks--
Sharyn Alfonsi: Do you get--
Greta Gerwig: --which is most of the time?
Sharyn Alfonsi: Do you get stuck?
Greta Gerwig: That's all I've been--
Sharyn Alfonsi: I feel like its flowing out of you–
Greta Gerwig: That's all I do. I only get stuck. That's all I re-- that's why I'm always going on walks. (laugh)
Whatever she's doing, it's paying off. Greta Gerwig is the first woman to solo-direct a billion dollar movie…an idea that once seemed as far-fetched as Barbie in Birkenstocks.
That's all... After reading @icarus comment, I think I let my expectations grow 😆 You can read the full transcript of the interview here.

@impending-doom hahaha. Sorry about that!
I still stand by my awards season prediction for them to do a proper announcement by Oscar Night though - would be a huge missed opportunity not to
Watching it back, I get the sense that 60 Minutes was told NOT to ask Gerwig about Narnia, because the narration just recaps what's already publicly known about the project (two films, she's having nightmares) and then cuts to a clip where they're talking about something that doesn't even seem particularly related to Narnia.
Sigh.

That is disappointing. Mind you, I wasn't expecting much for reasons others have mentioned. I didn't even watch the interview since I was confident people on Narniaweb would transcribe anything of interest to me. Still...even if she couldn't say anything new, the interviewer could have mentioned it, and she could have rephrased what she's said before in an interesting way.
For better or worse-for who knows what may unfold from a chrysalis?-hope was left behind.
