I voted for there I have another name. We have thought so long that he wasn't going to say the rest of the lines that came with this line, it was just so exciting to see what he does say. I loved the we have nothing if we don't have belief clip. But I was disapointed by the song. If they had to give Reepicheep's verse have a tune, lets have it be calming and not sing songy.
Yea, I didn't like the tune for Reep's song either, it just doesn't sound right.
Frankly, I like the tune. I think its a lot better that the BBC version...
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
I liked the Reep singing clip as well. But #1 was my favorite. I started crying. The genuine emotion Lucy and Edmund displayed was overwhelming. They totally got this part right!
Reepicheep earning his way to Aslan's country: you can't earn your way to heaven! Faith, not works! Yet faith without works is dead. You show your faith by your works. True faith will be displayed in good works. Yet people can have good works and go to hell. Lots of paradoxes. Anyway... I also wonder if Reep will have a character arc. Remember that Aslan asks him if he wants to go or something (in the movie) and Reep says yes. There's no mention of him earning the right to get in.
Dark Island: Coriakin was overbearing. I can understand danger, but honestly. His performance was too much for me.
Lucy and Gael: the conversation was honest. It didn't seem forced.
The Gail/Lucy scene was fine. It's been done a few billion times before, but there's nothing really wrong with it beyond that.
UGH! The way Reep is singing his song is horrible. He sounds like he should have a little tuxedo on and be dancing like a mouse version of Fred Astaire to it. Terrible tune. I love Reep's line about belief, but having Lucy doubt the very existence of Aslan's Country is quite possibly the very stupidest thing they have done in this film. Couple that with Reep's line about earning passage into what's basically heaven and this scene is just cringe-worthy.
Eustace is the only good thing about the Dark Island clip. Every new clip of Eustace I see, the more impressed I am with Will's portrayal. It's like book!Eustace came to life and started walking around.
I listened to the End of the World clip with my eyes closed and got goosebumps. Liam Neeson really was the perfect voice for Aslan. With my eyes open and looking at the CGI lion, the clip just doesn't have the same effect.
The end of the world clip is most amazing. It's literally breath taking. I have extreamly high hopes for this movie just because those things were said. My hopes are a good deal higher than I think safe because the chace of disapointment is so high, but I cannot bring myself to diminish that hope because of this very clip because I know that what I've considered to be the very heart of Narnia is said aloud at the end.
The transition to Narnia is fine. Nothing great and nothing terrible.
Two things I really love about this clip is Will Polter. It seems like his performance alone is going to drive this movie in a very good direction for us purists. Secondly I absolutly love that map. The clouds are ridiculous and they are only there for the 3D effect but otherwise the motion and the showing of the islands is just like I pictured it. I also really like the moving picture at the bottom (though it seems a little too Harry Potter), it looks really cool.
I've never really been able to put Reepicheep's song to a tune myself so I think I'd be alright with any tune they used, at least within reason. I have issue with that last line, earning the right, and I know my mom will make the biggest deal out of it, but I almost feel like it's just miss spoken. There's a difference between getting into hevean and hearing "well done" said to you.
The conversation between the girls looks exactly like the one Susan and Lucy have in Prince Caspian, which makes it look pathetic. The conversation is fine but they couldn't think of anythin original?
"And this marvel of all marvels, that he called me Beloved, me who am but as a dog-" -Emeth
Well, there are definitely works needed, just belief would not get you any where. Tis a fine line.
Agreed. See James 2:14-17
These clips are not necessarily exactly as they appear in the film. The transition is a bit longer in the film than is shown in the clip.
I like the transition into Narnia....the special effects are amazing!
"We have nothing if not belief"
