2. WHY is soccer so popular? Soccer is the sort of popular football code not confined to a particular nation or particular locality, unlike Australian Rules, played from Western Australia (formerly known as New Holland) to Victoria, but not in NZ, NSW or QLD. It has the biggest following of any sport with a prestigious and International competition to promote it. It is also a sport which has brought considerable glory to otherwise little-known Latin American countries as well as European ones like Spain and Italy. Soccer is also very popular within UK and Australia, whose International team is called the Socceroos.

Because with all of the road signs, motorway interchanges and so on that we have in the UK and in other countries that drive on the left, it would be enormously expensive to change over to driving on the right now, and then we'd be bound to have problems with people getting used to it... :D
