A second-hand vacuum cleaner. But of course at the time, that second-hand vacuum cleaner was the birthday present I had to have, like it or not. That vacuum cleaner has bitten the dust long ago, and now I have a more useful one for sweeping up dust.

Sticking to the bus timetable and the wait to see if the bus will actually arrive, plus they never seem to exactly co-ordinate with one's exact destination.
