2. (and it's actually a chemistry question ) Substances with charges do not dissolve in subtances wo charges or vice versa, which is why water can't get oillipdsgrease out of clothing. Oilgreaselipids are purely covalent compounds (no charge) so they don't dissolve in water, which is a polar covalent compound(has a charge). Soap is ionic on one end(has a charge) and polar colvalent on the other, so it can get the oillipids to dissolve in it, then the soap can dissolve into the water thereby pulling the stain out of the clothe.
