2. Hmmm, that's an interesting/tough question! Probably writing stories that make people think about hard questions and impact humanity in a positive way. I'd also love to have a job that's primarily done over the internet, so I could have a lot of flexibility and work anywhere in the world.

2. Off the top of my head—Shasta from HHB. He always seemed like a very nice kid in spite of having a pretty crummy parental figure for the first several years of his life. I think Shasta's troubles early in life are part of what endeared him to me, honestly. I'm quite tempted to call it the Harry Potter effect, since I remember Harry endearing himself to me in a very similar way because he had such a sad childhood, yet still was a decent kid.
