1. Old.
2. As someone who enjoys research, yes. Grammar/editing, knitting & crocheting, books, and history (particularly ancient history, WWII history, and American History) are the areas I am usually approached about.
3. Same question.
RL Sibling: CSLewisNarnia
1. Prehistoric
2. Yes, as a qualified reference librarian, I was paid to be a go-to expert in finding information, often in fields that were not normally my cup of tea, or area of expertise, such as business, heavy and light vehicle technology, and accounting. I did help ESOL students with English spelling etc, as part of the job, and one of my strengths, but informally, I was - and still am - a go-to person for archaeology, and British, European and Australian history.
3. Same question.
1. Neanderthal
2. A number of people seem to expect, just because I work in IT, that I know everything about computers and can, and will, fix their computers for them. What's more, they expect me to do it for free, when I suspect that if their central heating went wrong they wouldn't expect a plumber friend to help them without some compensation. People say that it's OK to say "no" once in a while; but if I say no, after a hundred occasions of saying yes, then they say I'm a thoroughly nasty, selfish person. It really gets on my nerves.
Oh, and I'm also an anorak about all things Gilbert & Sullivan.
3. Have you ever been on TV? (Closed-circuit in the supermarket doesn't count.)
1. Cave man
2. No (as a random note though I was only a few feet away when they were shooting an outdoor scene for the movie The Mighty Ducks).
3. Is there a field in which you'd like to be a go-to expert?
