1. Charleston (as in the dance... I guess since it's a dance from the early 1900's, and jitterbug was another dance or dance phrase from around the same period)

2. That is one tough question . I've read so many good ones over the years... The Hobbit comes to mind as a fav, as do some non-fiction books I've read over the years. But I'm going to go with one of the Sherlock Holmes compilations of cases. First read those a very long time ago, and they sparked quite an interest in that genre. But ask me again tomorrow and I might give a different answer .
