There was a book my dad read to us when I was really little called The Children of the New Forest, where, as you probably figured from the title, some children had to hide from guards, I think, and so they went and made a home in the forest. I remember liking the book and the idea, though I don't remember much else. /end-ramble So...I probably would want indoor plumbing, but otherwise it sounds fun.
