They were in a magical land.

"You know, this place seems familiar," Jen said. "It seems like I read a book that took place here."
Suddenly they all gasped, for they realized that they were in--

"Oh, this was written by G. J. J. Klarience! And it's awesome ! Where are all the Piggli-wonks? And where's that wonderful Clariscope Machine?" Jen shouts.

Suddenly, a big, hairy-

-spider landed on Tom's back!

"Ack!" Tom squawked and tried to buck it off. "Get it off me!"

Sam, trying to help Tom, grabbed...

-onto the spider's leg by accident and the spider swooped him up and carried him off to-

its web, strung high up between four huge trees. The trees stood in a perfect square. The spider had strung several webs horizontally between the trees, creating a sort of building with levels, just like a normal building. It took Sam to the very top level and -

-dropped him into a mass of gooey, slimy blue goo.

"Help!"

Jen cried, and everyone was hauled off to a spider's tree by different spiders. Each spider had different colors of goo.

Once everyone was up in their spider's web, the spiders gathered together in a circle. At first the children thought they were going to discuss plans. But it soon was obvious that the spiders were beginning to sing. They sang --

"What a bunch of luck we got,
Three lads and a birdy thing!
Get the turnips to throw in the pot,
For now this is what we sing!

"Prepare them a feast, for it might be their last,
Because as the Spiders of Simona know,
They may fufill the prophecy and hopefully fast!
We're close to the treasure, and we must go!"

A paticular ugly spider climbed over to them and whispered,

"Are you ready for the challenge ahead of you if you ever want to be free,
Or esle, I must tell you, you fate, I'm sure you'd rather not dare to see!"

Sam just smiled and said, "Oh, yes Smoog, I'm sure we have everything it takes!"

The spider staggered back and stared, thunderstruck.

Sam continued. "But, you must know that you will *never* get the Clariscope Machine! Never!"

The spider-

flung Jen into a pile of dead leaves.
Sam ran to her side, but just then the spider blocked him and flung him into a thorn bush.
Cayley flung a -

-potato at the spider. Suddenly wondering 'where did that come from'? Of course, she had forgotten the chapter about-

- The magic powers the girl gets. Potato throwing! She was an expert at it because she had read a book on it and won fist place in a potato throwing contest. It hit the spider square in the face. It then landed in a heap on the grass covered ground. She screamed in delight as the spider magically disappeared into thin air. All the other spiders -

-quickly ran away, the quest suddenly forgotten. Suddenly a pitiful cry of "help me, please!" was heard. Tom was stuck under-

"Help!" he cried again.

Jen looked around, and saw a river. Then she got an idea.
