"Okay now," Sam said, "do you know where this book is?" "Of course!" Glitter said. "Well, then, where is it??" Sam said. "It is down a tunnel in the side of this hole. But before you get the book, you have to defeat Dunbar," Glitter said patronizingly. "Who is Dunbar??" Jen said.

"Dunbar is a wild dog. He lives in the bowls of the tunnels where the book is kept. He has lived down there for over 500 years. We cats never ventured down there. But there was a legend of two young humans coming someday to defeat Bundar and retrieve the sacred book"

Sam nodded "Alright, that's all well and good. But how do we defeat this dog, Dunbar? And after that, where will the book be kept?" He kept a firm grip on Jenine's arm this whole time. She was getting pretty upset and keeping her close would be good.

"We don't know how to defeat him. He's huge, and ravenous, 5 cats were taken by here recently and never returned. They were eaten." Glitter said, quaking just thinking about it

Jen sighed. "Let's just get it over with, Sam."
Sam looked at Glitter. "You had better be telling the truth."
Glitter looked annoyed. "Why would I lie?"

"Maybe to set us on the wrong track," said Sam. "How do we know that's where the book really is? Maybe it's right here, but you want it for yourself!"
Glitter's eyes suddenly burned with fire, and suddenly he transformed into Dunbar himself!

Jen screamed and jumped back, but Sam grabbed a stick off the ground and pointed it at Dunbar. "Tell us where the book is!"
Dunbar growled. "Never!"
Sam lit the end of the stick on fire with one of the torches that flickered on the walls.
Jen turned and saw -

The other cats lifting a barrel of Gatorade and dumping it on Dunbar's head!
He shrieked, "I'm melting! I'm meeellllttttiinnngggg!!" and he melted away, leaving nothing but his embroidered vest.
"Thank you for showing us who the evil Dunbar was!" cried the cats to the astounded Jen and Sam

a tall cat came forward and handed the shocked Jen a bag.
Jen opened it and found the Book!
Sam smiled. "I told you it would work out!"
just then, the walls began to crumble!

Jen gave a shriek and began to run - the wall was collapsing toward her! Sam turned to follow her but he stumbled over the bag Jen had dropped and fell heavily to the ground. He rolled over shielded his head with his hands as the wall came crashing down!
But the tall cat threw itself bodily over the boy, stretching out to cover him. As the dust settled, both rose - unharmed!

"Jen!" Sam coughed as he stood in the rubble. "Jen, where are you!?"

he heard coughing a little ways away. "Jen!"
Sam dug in the rubble. He saw Jen's hand and the worked frantically to clear her face.

Suddenly the tall cat gave an enormous sneeze. The force of it was so strong, it blasted the rubble off of Jen entirely! She coughed again and stared open-mouthed at the tall cat.
He wiped his nose daintily, "My apologies."
"Lets get out of here!" urged Sam.

the cat, who's name was Cal, pushed Sam and Jen through a hole in the rubble. Jen could feel warmness above her and as she crawled, she could see sunlight above her!

But when she got above ground and looked around, she saw it was not the sun of their world, but a different world -- a world completely unlike their own, because when they got up and looked around, for as far as their eyes could see, the ground was covered with...

Glass. Jen stepped onto it as Sam and Cal crawled out. yes, it was glass and she nearly slipped and fell. the glass that covered the ground seemed to go for miles. it covered the ground as far as Jen could see in any direction.

"Oh NOOOOO!!" wailed Jen, "Now how do we get back??"
"Why does it matter?" asked Sam, "We can't get back, so that's a load off our shoulders."
Jen paused to think about that for a moment, then said, "But, but isn't that- I don't know... dishonorable?"
