Jenine turned away from Lya with a scowl.
Sam sighed. "We are obviously stuck together in all of this weather or not we want to be. So let's make the best of it and get this mission over with!"

Jenine's gaze softened when she looked at Sam, who was just trying to keep the peace. She made a face then linked her arm in his "Your right.....let's go."

Lya scowled at Jenine then put her ands on her hips "I think I know where the first clue lies. And if the library is still intact the book we need to find this weapon, should be there"

With a toss of her head, Lya lead them out of the room and into the hallway. Another roar was heard and the ground trembled beneath them.

Sam looked up at the roof sharply as a sound like a pistol shot through the air. "It's gonna collapse!" he cried, "run!" A huge crack had split the roof down the middle.

Immediately Lya picked up her heavy skirts and put on a burst of speed that would do an Olympic runner credit. Jenine released Sam's arm in a panic that sent her flying after Lya with a pace only desperation can bring. Sam on the other hand did the best he could, but a raging headache and still weakened limbs left him far behind.
He heard the roof crumbling above him but did not look up. Chunks of stone began to fall around him. The girls were too far ahead to notice his peril, but it didn't really matter to him anyway. Something inside of him told him it was OK.
He glanced up in time to see a piece of debris detach itself from the roof and fall just a few feet above him.

The mind works so fast. In an instant he knew there was no avoiding it and it would strike him on the head. His nerve quivered, then steeled again. Not my will, but yours, he thought. A fraction of a second later...

The rock crumbled and showered pieces of stone upon his head. Something had caused the rock to shatter and spare his life. His heart swelled as he realized he must have been spared for a reason. All around him though, the roof continued to fall and the floor crack in some places. He shook himself back into reality and rushed down the hall after the girls. He wasn't fast, but he was alive and that was what mattered.

When he came to the first door, he entered it and shut it quickly behind him. A cry came from somewhere in the dimly lit room and he was brought tightly into Jenine's arm, who met him in an embrace. "Oh Sam! I though you had surely died!"

Lya came from the shadows and looked at the him with cold eyes. "Took you long enough. It's dark in here so seeing that book is hard but we'll do it. I'm not sure why this room has been spared destruction"

"Just like my life was spared" Sam said.

Lya gave him a cold stare. "Your life was spared for an entirly different purpose."
suddenly, Lya vanished!
Jenine screamed.

Sam gripped Jenine's arm "I don't think she's gone for good. I believe we'll see her again" he looked around. "I think we should search for that book. We need to stop this evil"

Jenine sank to the floor and slumped against the wall, shaking.
Sam stood there, unsure of what to do. "It'll be alright Jen, you'll see!" But he wasn't convinced even of his own words.

After a moment of looking rather helplessly at Jenine, Sam turned his eyes up at the shelves.
"Well, might as well start lookin' for that book."
"Look where?" exclaimed Jenine in an irritable tone, still shaking a little but beginning to regain her temper.
"Um... Let's ask that pink bunny!"
"Ask the what!?"

Jen looked where Sam was pointing and saw it.
it was indeed a pink bunny but it stood on it's feet like a human and wore a red vest that clashed terribly with it's pink fur.
"Um, hi," Sam said.
The bunny spoke. "Greetings! I am Banglow, at your service!"
Jen said, "Hi Banglow. If you will, we need your help."

He needed his nose wiggling "Banglow is always happy to help. What do you need help with?"

"We need to find a book. A special book. To stop the destruction of this castle" Sam said slowly. Even though he had suggested talking to the bunny it felt awkward

"Oh no! That dangerous book is not here! It was taken! You must find it!" The Bunny cried

"Taken! Taken where?" Sam exclaimed.

"Down the hole, down the hole!" Banglow chanted. The bunny pointed his pink nose toward a gaping hole in the side of the mountain. It was too small to be a cave, but too big to be a burrow for a rabbit. A strange golden smoke floated upward.

Jenine went to the wind and gazed out indeed seeing a large whole in the mountain. She sighed "In there? Are you sure!?" she didn't feel like going on another dangerous trek

Sam put an arm around her shoulder "Alright pink bunny-

"Banglow" The rabbit corrected

"Banglow" Sam said with a nod of his head "Thanks for telling us. We'll get the book. Then what?"

Banglow twitched his nose. "Well, I never - you two are the first to even speak of going down in that hole!"

"Is it dangerous?" asked Jen

"No," said Banglow, "But there's lots of black spiders in there."
