Wouldn't it rather depend on what sort of work the dog is able to do?

Haven't you heard of sheep and cattle dogs, of police dogs, guide dogs, plus sniffer, hunting and rescue dogs?

But would those service dogs be of use with broken-down spaceship?

Wouldn't a dog be useful to keep watching sheep, cattle and kangaroos at bay, plus fetch spanners, wrenches and other tools on command?

Would one dog be sufficient for that kind of work?

Would two dogs be enough?

Wouldn't that depend on what dogs are available and what sort of relationships they have with the men fixing the spaceship?

Wouldn't it also depend on the sort of work the dogs were trained to do?

How would even a formidably well-trained dog get along with space aliens anyway?

Wouldn't it depend a fair amount on the space aliens and their intentions?

Why does the world usually assume that space aliens have hostile intentions?
