*sighs* Lucy is officially half a year old, I can't believe how fast time flew, she used to be so small, fit right in the palm of my hand

and now she is so big, and reading books

well just another six months and she will be a year Although I am so glad she is growing, there are time I wish she would remain small

I don't have any new pictures of Chester and Teyla (it's hard to get pictures of two Jack Russell Terriers!). But they are getting along splendidly! They play together all the time! The worst thing is that Chester has chewed up most of Teyla's squeaky toys. And plush toys. So now I have to buy toys for them that are the "Kong" brand so that he can chew on them but not destroy them! It's been interesting getting used to having 2 JRTs, especially walking them!

Yesterday I caught my bird Billy pretending to peck Jeffrey on the head, when Jeffrey wasn't looking. He wouldn't dare do it for real, since Jeffrey is tougher than he is. I didn't know parakeets had violent fantasies.

I remember when we still had Alan, Robin and him would get into constant squabbles, one time Robin got so upset that Alan was bullying him (Alan was a real bully) so he completely lost it and jumped right on top of Alan, in doing so he fell from the stick onto the floor of that cage. Poor Robin, he was so shocked, he couldn't tell what happened and why he was now suddenly on the floor.
Birds really are amazing creatures, they've got the most amazing personalies, I hope to film Robin and Sophie one day cause they are just hilarous.
Today I introduced Lucy to the birds, they weren't too thrilled with her, but Lucy was quite curious

We have two crazy cats. Rusty, a seven year old American Short Hair, and Rio, a one year old other Short hair.

Rusty is a cat from a different adoption seven years ago with another cat, his brother Jake. Rusty is like a little dog to be honest. He begs from my dad at the table all the time, especially for the meat products. He used to fetch door stops he pulled off when he was younger, but he's lost interest as he's aged. He's a usually well mannered cat, who sleeps very well with people at night, but recently he has been acting like a young kitten, by jumping on the counter even though he knows he's not supposed to. I think he's been influenced by our younger cat, Rio.

Sadly, on my birthday, about seven years after their adoption, Jake died. He was kind of an over weight cat, so he may have died of a heart attack. I was not having a happy birthday at all. Rusty didn't even seem that upset, surprisingly, although I did see him sniff around a little.

A few days before Christmas, we adopted young Rio from a Camp Companion event at a PetSmart. For the first few days, whenever they came into face to face contact, Rusty would sniff him, then hiss, then run away. I think it was Rusty who was rather scared than Rio. A few weeks after Rio joined the family, we saw them snuggling together, which is very unusual for cats who've only known each other for a little while.

Rio is a very hyper young cat who also has allergies to certain litters. He always moves around every few minutes, though I think he's been getting better at staying still. At night, he comes into your room, sniffs very loudly, jumps on your bed by your head, and sits there, paws at you, and annoys you to death. I've had to shut my door up at night now. For some time, Rio would just sneeze so hard, he would sneeze up globs of mucus and get a bloody nose. We found out after experimenting with certain cat litters that this was the cause. Now it's not so bad.

I've always loved cats a lot.

Just a question - does everyone else talk to their animals? I do regularly to my cats, without thinking about it, talk to them in a baby voice, but as if they were alive. I call them by their full names (my last name at the end of theirs), and scold them, explain things to them when they're puzzled - it's actually really funny.

Ummm...I hope everyone talks to their animals, because I do and always have! (Even my fish!)
Animals are companions and I believe most people talk to their animals. This is very normal! Different people talk to them in different ways.
As a matter of fact, last night I saw an 8 year old explaining to a cat (wearing a "cone of shame") to behave and not get his tongue stuck in the cone (where the cone comes to together)! It was so cute!

Ela, I talk to my pets all the time, especially Robin, our male parakeet, he's been around the longest (six years in october) and at the moment the only boy in our room (cause the other pets are all female ) I talk to him as I would my best friend, ask him questions about why or what, if I do something that annoys him I always apologize, he's a real companion to me, I talk to Sophie and Lucy too, but they are still both very young, also Lucy is spoiled and Sophie is psycoligically unstable so you have to deal with them in a special way

I think it's time for me to get a new pet I have my heart set on a rabbit, the only hard thing is getting my mom and dad to approve *sighs*

Don't you have a young guinea pig????? You are so like me, I would have a huge place just for my animals! And a ton of animals to fill it!!!!

Sure I have a guinea pig.....but I want more and I read that rabbits and guinea pigs can get along very well together, even live in the same cage, so it really wouldn't take up to much space

My little golden parakeet, Irene, was strong and healthy yesterday. Tonight she's dead. Days after the death of an older parakeet...
