I can help you tell. See the little colored piece of skin above his/her beak? If it's brown, white, or brownish white, it's a girl. If it's blue, or purpleish-blue, then it's a boy.

Unless it's a baby. In which case, it's pink and you can't tell yet.

Edit! nevermind the mom got him

So glad the mom got him! I could give you pointers on all of that; I raised a kitten from the time he was a few hours old. And, yes, we had to do that. And he is now 12 or 13 years old. He lives with my mom (his human). His picture is here. His is the first one, DC.

Of all those animals that I had then, I now only have my dog, Teyla, who will be 2 on June 16! All were rehomed or died (Takiah).

When I bought Sophie I was told she was a girl, when we left for summer last year I left her with the neighbour who said her nose was bluish and that it is a boy, now her nose is a brownish color.......so I am very confused

Lucy is just being plain mean, she won't let me sleep from seven to ten and then she suddenly shuts up for a couple of hours

That's normal. A lot of my female parakeets go through a short phase where their nose is a little blue-ish. But it turns brown after that. So your bird is most likely female.

That's a relief Ithilwen!!! Because the last "female" parakeet we had turned out to be a male. And he died the same day we found out. We always joked that the parakeet died of shock

So I took Neville to the park for the first time today, usually he just goes out with his family in our yard. He was a big baby, refused to walk. Only kept coming to me to be picked up:

He is so cute! And has grown so much! And he loves you so much that he doesn't want to walk!

Is that cake a people food cake or a dog food cake?

It's a people food cake (from Wal-Mart) that is a dog. It's one of those made of cupcakes (2 cupcakes and TONS of icing). She got maybe a quarter of the white cupcake and a little frosting. She loved it so much, she nearly licked the "Happy Birthday" off the plate!

Robin and Sophie have started some quarrel over the mirror and it's been going on for a week, and still they can't divide it between the two of them. Sophie hates it for some reason and it trying to get rid of it, while Robin, horrified at her ill treatment of his 'precious', squakes at her angrily, she replies in like manner and they start arguing, it's just going on on and on, and the rest of us are suffering from it, there is only comlete silence in our room when I cover the bird cage with a blanket. Sometimes they do get distracted from that silly mirror, but sooner or later Sophie attacks it once more and the whole thing starts all over again
I suspect she is jealous of the mirror cause Robby spends more time with it then with her and has decided that the only way to get all of Robin's attentio is to simply destroy it......but Robin loves his dear mirror, his precious, and doesn't allow her to do anything with it
