Is it possible he did it with his talons or beak by accident? I'm glad that he seems healthy otherwise :)

:( the cut seems to have reopened, cause this morning I opened the cage and there is more blood that last time :-o my mom said we should disinfect it again and if this keeps up we'll take him to the vet. At the moment the cut is still bleeding I'm trying to remain calm, but it's really scary to see all that blood, my poor Robby :( We've had him for six years and I'm very close to my dear little bird. He's a very shy and gentle bird and I can see that his leg hurts but he's very quite about it and looks a little scared but calm.

Edit: The cut stopped bleeded and we disinfected it, Robby didn't really enjoy it, I guess it stings, I still not exactly sure where the cut is, but I think I have located it. I also think I know what it reopened, Robby tends to pick on it with his beak.....I'm not sure how to get him not to do that :) At least it isn't bleeding anymore and though I can tell he's very unhappy he's behaving very calm

Poor little thing!
I'm trying to think of a way to keep him from picking at it, but birds tend to do that! ;) If you can get the gauze that sticks to itself (Coban), you can put that on his foot. But their little feet are so delicate that you have be so very careful when putting it on.
Something that you can do, especially at night until it heals, is to put him into a box (we used a clear plastic box from the pet store) with a towel in the bottom. We put it in a room that could be closed off. If it's cold, you can put a heating pad on low under the box. Oh, and make sure you put water and food in! ;)) We did this whenever we had ill or injured birds per our vet's recommendation.

thanks ramagut, I like the box idea *is in the process of finding a suitable box* the cut is getting better, it didn't bleed this night, we disinfect it two or three times a day :) Robby is a bit more cheerful today too

Glad to hear he is doing better.
This is the kind of box that we used. The largest one.

My parakeet, Rosie, is now the proud parent of an imaginary egg. ;)) She is very loyal to it, and sits on this egg-that-isn't-there all day, every day. And attacks anyone who comes near it.

Her sister, Irene, has decided she is the father. She helps guard the egg, and takes care of her sister during this time.

(I think my birds must be really bored or something....???)

An imaginary egg? That's hilarious!!! =))
We had a sun conure that would lay eggs and ignore them, but the male cockatiel would protect them like they were his own!! ;))

Ithilwen, An imaginary egg? that's great :))
I've never heard that one before. I wonder what made her do this. It's odd.

My parakeet, Jeffrey is afraid of anything outside his cage. If you leave the cage door open (which most birds would view as a chance of escape) he'll get really upset and scared until you shut it again. He also seems to be afraid of heights. Every afternoon, about 4PM, he has to go to the top perch, go all the way to the left and look straight down to see how far up he is, and then he starts freaking out. He does this every day. (By the way, he's about four feet off the ground)

Today, Jeffrey's girlfriend Irene decided she wanted to be just like him. She followed him around, watched every move and sound he made, and copied absolutely everything he did. She even went to the side of the cage, looked down and pretended to freak out, just like he does every afternoon at 4PM. ;))

LOL guarding an imaginary egg....that's so funny. =)) =)) It's cool how Irene copy-cats Jeffrey....I wonder why she does it :p
Birds are very interesting creatures, they are a lot of fun too :)
Robby's cut is almost better and he's gone back to his usual self, he did do a really weird thing yesterday though, he started yelling at himself in the mirror, I don't know what came over him and usually he is very nice to his reflection, gently chirping to it and kissing is (he has a very special love for his mirror and the reflection that is in it). After yelling at himself for a while he calmed down but now Sophie has revived an old fued she had with the mirror, she doesn't give it any rest, she attacks it over and over, :- Sophie is a weird and wild bird.

Lucy has become extremely demanding these past few days, if I'm eating something she immediaty tries to get me to give her some, she really wants attention too and gets unhappy when left alone for a long long time :D

I did notice that Robby is very jealous of Lucy, if I'm talking to her or playing with her he sits and watches us with a look of utter hate. He is a very gentle bird and very easy going so I am quite suprised that he is so jealous of Lucy and doesn't seem to like her very much.

Hah! That reminds me of Patchy after we got Daisy... who knew a rabbit would be so jealous of a hamster. He would totally go crazy if I even touched the hamster's cage... either demanding attention, or being so insulted as to ignore my presence altogether... unfortunately for him, I found it to be hilarious, which didn't help.

I forget whether or not I mentioned this here, but our house is officially pet-less :( The hamster got out of her cage and there hasn't been a trace of her for two weeks, which means that she probably isn't coming back :((

So Neville was playing around in my bedroom. I kept calling him towards me, but he wouldn't listen. Of course he's still a puppy. Anyway, it wasn't long before my mirror fell on him, (thankfully not flat on him, but at an angle). He of course screeched and cried. I picked him up and checked him. :(

I left the mirror down, when I went to put it right- I had Neville in my arms. He started to wiggle madly. I set the mirror right, stood and put Neville down. He ran away from the mirror faster than lightning. ;))

awww I'm sorry Wolf, I hope you get some pets soon I know what it is like to be petless, after we gave our cat to my grandma we didn't have any pets for a few years

I'm glad Neville is alright :) I bet he'll stay clear of that mirror for a long while ;))

Robin's cut is all better :) I'm so glad :D . He and Sophie started squabbiling a lot though :( One of the reason's is that Sophie never seems to be happy with anything, she's one of those type of girls whom you can just never please, I'm really surprised at Robin's patience with her, he's really the kindest bird I've ever known :)

Has anyone here ever had any pet snakes? I have always wanted one, so it would be interesting to talk to someone who has experiences with them as pets.
