The vet tried to rip my mom off today. They were going to charge over $150 to fix one of our cats. My mom called another vet, and they charge only $60. I also believe that the second vet treats the animals just as good as the first one. At least my dad's friend says so. I also need to give my cats flea baths. I'm not looking forward to that.

$150 is cheap for a spay or neuter at a vet's. The low cost spay and neuter clinic is around $50 I think. At least that's the pricing around here. I'm sure it varies from state to state; rural vs. cities; that sort of thing. It also depends on the options (like pain medication; lab work; etc) and if they have to have vaccines or not.

150$ is very very cheap to get an animal fixed. When I took my dog to get him fixed it costed almost 300$

But that's good that you found a place cheaper. I wish I can find a price like that around where I live.

^^ Well, I guess around where I live it's very expensive to pay $150 to fix a cat. $60 is what you usally pay for a cat and $90 for a dog I think. That is why I was shocked at them wanting $150 to fix my cat.
Anyway he is at the vet right now. I hope he isn't too scared. He's never been to the vet before.

Oh okay those prices would make sense to me then considering I didn't have a cat as a pet for very long because I'm allergic to them. That really bites too, because cats are so cute.

Please excuse my ignorance but what does it mean to have your 'cat/dog fixed by the vet'

Fixed is where your pet will not have children or give another animal children.

We found a places to boared the pets while we are gone for our summer trip. My grandmother agreed to take my turtles and our neighbors kindly agreed to take the birds (a big thank you to them). It's so quiet in our room now that the pets are gone, our rooms looks so bare without the usual cage and tank that stand in the corner I miss them already , although it will only be three weeks till I see them again. I hope they won't miss us, Robby sometimes refuses to eat when we are gone for a long while. However our neighbors also have a parakeet so Robby and Sophie will be able to make a new friend. I also hope my turles will be ok, Fedya also sometimes refuses to eat when I am gone, but he knows my grandmother quite well so I hope he'll be ok. I often wish we could take our pets to the sea with us, but I know it would be a huge headache to take them, and I am sure they'll be fine till we come back....but still (sighs)

Big hugs to wild rose! I have to leave my pets for 2 weeks at the end of next month when I go on vacation. I will miss them! (Although I will be having an awesome time!)

Yeah I'm about to leave my dog Caspian with my mom for a week when I go to California next month. I'm going to miss my cute little doggy so much I wish I can take him with me but it's expensive to bring a pet on a plane.

I know Rachel Marie (ramagut) is going to miss her dogs terribly so. Rachel Marie snapped a pic of me and her little dog too. I am impressed her dog held still.

Thats a real cool picture

We got our birds back today, but it's only for a little more than a week, cause we're leaving for another camping trip. I think we might get my turtles tomorrow, or we won't get them at all, just wait till we come back from our trip. I guess we'll see. Due to the heat our birds have been rather calm, Sophie ain't as loud as she used to be, I'm glad, an active bird is nice, but a loud and angry bird ain't much fun
