Happy Belated Birthday to Cinnamon and Sugar!

Kittens are cute, but they can also be a lot of trouble. :p When we got Myst and Shad we didn't leave them home alone for a while. We decided the next time we got cats we would get older ones. Now I'm not so sure. I'll be move it to my own place some time soon (Provided I get a job). We don't want to separate Mystery and Shadow so they will be staying with my parents. My sister might move in with me later so we could take Myst and Shad but they are getting older and Shadow needs medications, so it might get expensive. My mom doesn't want to stick us with all the costs. Anyway, back to the point. I'll be getting my own cat or cats. My mom said it would be a good idea to rinse my cat occasionally to remove some of the allergens. I think that works better if it is started when the cat is young.

My sister's friend spent the night last night. We gave her a key so she could get if we weren't around. Shadow was out when she came back from running errands. Shad sat on the stairs and stared down at her. Later she was napping on the couch, and Mystery came through. She stopped short when she saw the strange person on the couch. She cautiously approached until she had her front paws the couch and her nose very close to my sister's friend's forehead. My sister's friend started and Mystery jumped backwards. ;)) It was pretty funny. Showing themselves that much is very good for Myst and Shad.

When I went to college and came back home after several months, I found out I was allergic to cats. (We had cats my entire life, so my immunity was built up). After several years, I decided to get a cat: I got a white, very young one, bathed him regularly and now I have 3 cats and 2 dogs; so it does work. I haven't bathed him unless he needed it for years now; I only had to do it when he was young. And I don't know what it is about the white ones, but that's supposed to help as well.

I wondered if you bathed all of your pets regularly or if you didn’t have to anymore. That would be a lot of work if you did. When you got your other two cats did you bathe them too? I wonder if our current cats would let us give them a bath. Shad has a dandruff problem and Blitzen’s fur gives me problems sometimes. Our cats like to play in water but I’m not sure how they would like getting soaked. Mystery didn’t like the bath she took, although that could have something to do with the circumstances. ;)) I don’t think I’ve told this story here (it’s one of my favorites) but if I have feel free to skip to the next paragraph. A few years ago I was taking a bath. I had the shower curtain closed on the outside of the tub. My mom and / or sister needed use the sink. Mystery decided to walk along the edge of the tube on the inside of the shower curtain. Shadow was on the outside of the shower curtain. She saw Myst moving and pounced, knocking Myst into the bathtub. =)) It didn’t take Mystery long to leap back out of the tub and leave the room. =)) I yelled for my mom and she had to find Myst to dry her off.

It’s shedding season. Blitz sheds noticeable year round (her fir is everywhere and some always comes off in my hand when I pet her) but in the spring she goes into hyper drive. 8-| Luckily she loves to be flea combed. The other two don’t like it so much that makes trying to remove extra fur more challenging. Mystery puts up a fight and protests loudly. 8-|

Nope, only had to bathe the first one. I got the second one about 1 1/2 years later and by then my immunity was back up.

They do make dandruff shampoo (that's what I use on my dogs), but cats aren't fond of baths. When I have had to bathe them (even the one I used to bathe regularly), it's not a fun task. Luckily, they don't mind being brushed, except the oldest one. He has a lot of mats in his fur right now and I'm tempted to take him to the vet to get him groomed (they can sedate him for it). When I try to brush him, I end up bloodied; and he is declawed (only the front, though). I have to wear my oven mitts that cover my entire forearm!! ;)) His name is DC (Darn Cat), but we call him "Landshark." =))

When we had our cat my mom would sometimes give her baths if she got really dirty (Like once she ran away for a week and came home all gray) but she really hated baths and it was dangerous buisness bathing her. My older sister was best at it, she has a special knack with cats :)

Sophie was trying to get to know the turtles today but they didn't seem to interested in her (much to her annoyance ;)) ) . Sophie behaves like a real princess, she is our only female pet. Both turtles are males as of course is Robby.

Here is a cute picture of Robby and Sophie

Thank-you for the birthday wishes, Ramagut and Patterwig's Pal! =] I've given them to the two, eheh.

Those are really sweet birds, wild rose!

For giving cats a bath, we bathe ours maybe every four months? We used to do it more frequently when they were kittens, because they would get really dusty often. (However, they hate the bathroom and if carried in there, will panic immediately. Sugar goes in more casually on her own will to hang out in the bathtub when it's dark. I guess she likes playing wild cat in a cold cave having sudden outbursts of energy, or something. :P ) We haven't given them one recently, but if we do, Sugar's probably the only one who will need it: Cinnamonloves to keep clean and is not as anxious to go in dusty places.
I'm still cautious of using regular store-bought cat shampoo or any soap. Their soft, abundant, shiny fur is the pride of the family and I'd hate it if it got stiff, dull or worse, fell out. So...yeah, a warm water bath with some gentle scrubbing proves sufficient to remove dust. ;))

Robin is the bluish one and Sophie is the green one

My sister and I took the turtles outside today, the first time this year, we were waiting for the weather to be warm enough. When we take the turtles out it has to be one person per turtle. They crawl super fast and one person alone just can't keep track of the two of them (They also have this bad habit of crawling in different directions ) And they are easy to lose due to the fact that they are green and blend in well with the grass in the back yard.

Here is a picture of Fed outside
(He's kinda hard to see, sorry about that, like I said due to his green color he blends in real well with the grass. Good camouflage in the wild though)

Today is also significant because Sophie finally decided to enter the cage on her own. We let them fly around the room in the afternoon, and in the evening Robby goes to the cage himself but Sophie would never enter with him and I would have to catch her. She was smart though and would hide herself between the pots of my cactus plants and I would p***k my fingers and at times get cactus splinter thanks to that. Now thankfully that procedure has ended. :D

Today was very rainy so I had my dog indoors most of the time and when i went to a store and came back he was sitting on his side of the couch looking so sad and bored I went over to give him a cookie, turned on the TV and sometimes he'll let me rest my head on his back when he lays down. this time he knocked me straight off the couch. =))

He was so mad and bored that it was raining. :(

A couple weeks ago, Fiona managed to cut her paw open on something sharp... we don't know what. So while she's been healing, we've been having to figure out how to keep an eye on her so she wouldn't mess with her bandaged foot. At first we used the 'cone of shame' and that worked well for a day til she figured out how to get her foot around in front of it.

So then it came down to keeping an eye on her 24/7. Well the awake half of the 24 isn't so bad, but the sleeping half is kind of a pain. My husband very kindly volunteered to sleep downstairs on the couch and keep an eye on her overnight while I kept the cats in the bedroom with me (Fiona normally sleeps outside but couldn't these past two weeks because it's been raining and her foot has to stay dry).

Well the cats kept me up all night cause they didn't like to be locked up, so I started propping the door open a few inches and then setting a suitcase behind the door so Fiona couldn't push it open. That way if the cats needed to get in and out they could, but they'd also have a place to go overnight so Fiona wouldn't chase them.

Over the weekend, I was sleeping, and all of a sudden woke up to this large 83lb ball of fur jumping onto the bed and covering me with snuffly kisses. It's a really fun way to wake up I can tell you... Apparently she had to go out to use the bathroom and couldn't wake my husband up, so she shoved the door open and came and got me instead.

I will be VERY glad when she can go back to sleeping outside. #:-s ;))

I'm sorry Fiona hurt her paw, I hope she gets better soon

Today at four in the morning the birds got scared of something (seeing as it was still kinda dark in the room and there was a blanket covering the cage the only guess that I have is that they had a bad dream or something like that), they started flying around in the cage and making a huge noise. They woke me up with all that noise and I had to get up turn the light on and try and figure out what was wrong. As soon as I turned the light on Robby calmed down immediatly but Sophie continued to make noise (she'd fly around the cage and her wings would hit against it) I spoke to her gently and she settled down. I covered the cage again and went back to bed. I was glad they calmed down so soon, sometimes they fly around like crazy and won't settle down for ages.

Well, I am now bird-less. Ceppault took our mustache parrots to a friend of ours (former NarniaWebber) as we are trying to cut down on the number of animals we have in order to be more "mobile."
The house is so quiet without them and I miss them, but I know they went to a good time and they will get A LOT of attention! This is very bittersweet for me. Cuts down on food costs/cleaning/number of animals I have to give my attention to, but I miss my Alex giving me "kisses." *heavy sigh*

I have two boy cats that are half brothers. One is 1 year old, and the other is 2 months old. They play and lick each other. It's the sweetest thing! The kitten acually kinda beats his big brother up, but he don't fight back much. He just swats back and licks him. :) You would think they were mother and son the way his big brother treats him so gently.
