Gilgandra, NSW, Australia. Where the 1915 Cooee March started from. This was a recruiting march over 515 km which started with 25 men & reached Sydney with 263 men. Gilgal means "waterhole" & in the Wiraduri language may mean "long waterhole".

Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The site of Australia's best known gold mine. According to the Internet, it is accepted that Kalgoorlie probably comes from a Wangkathaa Aboriginal word "karlkurlah" meaning 'silky pear', a plant common to the area.
