"Aber" is a river mouth in Welsh (and Cornish) — not sure about the "main" part, as Wikipedia doesn't tell us where the name comes from and it doesn't seem to be named after anywhere in Wales!
Sounds like any amount of names here, where such terms are attached to place names which reflect occupations & industries, rather than a nod to culture. Strathfield for instance sounds like a tautology (needless repetition?)

We get those even in Britain, don't worry — particularly "River Avon". Avon is actually the Welsh and Cornish word for "river"!!
Yanakie, Victoria, Australia. (A small town just before the entrance to the wonderful Wilson's Promontory National Park — or as we Gippsland locals all call it, "The Prom" — which includes the southernmost point of mainland Australia.)

Anglesey, an island in north Wales, famous for lovely beaches, historic spots and the second longest placename in the world.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Dharruk, NSW, Australia. A suburb of Sydney, named after the Aboriginal people who owned that area before 1788.
Koonwarra, Victoria, Australia. A nice little country town in South Gippsland (my home region) with a name that is reportedly a local Aboriginal word for "black swan".

Ambleside, a small town beside Lake Windermere in the Lake District of northern England. It's a picturesque and historic place, and tourists love it.
I have memories of it as the place I began my first annual reading of LOTR. I was last there in September 2018, on Hobbit Day (22nd). I had just finished my annual read for that year.

Ooh, I've been to Ambleside too! I love the Lake District. (Haven't re-read LOTR there, but that would be fun.)
