I did understand it. It's just that my understanding came after I said I didn't understand. 
(and now the bits and pieces I remember from when I had to learn 99 Luftballoons in German class are stuck in my head and it is driving me nuts because I can't remember many of the words. )
Now World War III is starting because you and your neighbors lost the 56 Luftballoons.
