Many foods are healthy for animals, though.

Over in Asia, bamboo shoots are a popular vegetable!

Popular they may be, but they have very little nutritional value.

Quinoa is as exotic as bamboo shoots but is used in cooking more often.

Somehow I still prefer lovely fried rice, with bits of hard-boiled egg, little prawns, green peas and other bits and pieces.

Using leftover rice, meat and vegetables is how I learned to make fried rice from my Japanese-American sister-in-law.

Various ways of using still edible leftovers include a dish called Bubble and Squeak, or just putting them in a jaffle.

Xenophobic people, who said Chop Suey was made of leftover Chinese food, would put leftover meat and vegetables in a jaffle, another name for an enclosed toasted sandwich, made in a jaffle iron.
