How have you been lately? Back to school today?
Lady Courage, thanks! I'm usually not very good at bowling, so I was surprised and pleased to get a higher score.
I hope you had a nice Christmas?

Mortereve all!
@ NN. I'm doing very well, both now and back when you asked the question before Christmas.
Yes, actually. I made a list of soundtracks and of DVD's that I wanted.
Speaking of which, I am now the proud owner of the following:
Batman Begins 2-disc edition (DVD)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Expanded and complete edition (CD)
Back to the Future (2-Disc/complete score) (CD) *
Haha, I'm glad to hear that.
That doesn't surprise me a bit!
Batman Begins... is that a pretty old movie? I think I may have seen that.
Anyway, I love the music from Back to the Future and Star Trek! I know Alan Silvestri did Back to the Future and, did Jerry Goldsmith do Star Trek?
We went bowling yesterday with some friends...
We went bowling on New Year's Eve, too!
NN95, glad you had a nice Christmas!
I'm sad now that the holidays are over though...it's my favorite time of the year.
And now we have a couple months of cold, windy weather and snow and ice ahead of us...anyway, I'm so excited that it's 2010. 2009 flew by way too fast.
Thank you! Yeah, it's a shame. I agree, it's a great time of year! Cold, windy weather and snow and ice? That sounds lovely! You're right, it seems like every year goes by faster, huh?
I'd rather have braces than a retainer. For me, the retainer would always shift around in my mouth...it was really uncomfortable.

FF, yeah, spending time with family is lots of fun at Christmas. It's a great time to relax and have fun.
Ah, yes...winter is coming. It was cold outside for us yesterday too.
Hear hear! I couldn't agree more!
I hope the rest of this school year goes well for you and stuff!
Do you have any more snow?
How are things for you in the rest of your life?
Aw, and here I thought I was finally ahead of you. So, there are only 5 seasons, huh? That's great that you've got them all! But you're still in Season 3, huh? Well, we've been watching through some seasons of some other shows, so it'll be a little while before we start watching Season 4.
Haha!
Yes...I guess there was only 5 seasons (the last episode of season 5 I think will be a little bit sad, knowing that there's not going to be any more after that and all....) But then there's the couple episodes from the Get Smart "sequel" series of sorts that Don Adams and Barbara Feldon did later on...I wonder if that's any good... What other shows have you been watching?
Welcome to the Square, Lady Courage! Do join us often!
@ Fanny. Mmmhmm, kind of funny, yes?
Exactly! We (that is, the Royal Family) try to keep our movie viewings to relatively clean films. There are a few movies with more content issues that we like (Hunt For Red October, Indiana Jones 3, Wind and the Lion) but overall we try to stay away from films with lots of content problems. Which is hard when some films are great, but they just have a ton of cursing in them or one "racy" scene in them.....
Anyway, I'm doing very well, thanks. Our Christmas was actually very quiet, which was nice. We visited with both sets of grandparents and one set of cousins. On Christmas, we ate lunch with my grandmother and then just stayed home for the rest of the day.
How about you? How was your Christmas?
Indeed!
Yes- it is really sad about such content- and I'm not sure anymore that one type is actually worse than the other. I used to think that having one inappropriate scene that could easily be skipped was better than having quite a bit of swearing/foul language (as that so easily gets into one's mind, even after one viewing! We recently watched a movie of that sort, which was alright but had more language then I would have liked, and whenever I think of that movie I think of all the lines with swearing, which doesn't help any because I think those words....it's really hard getting over the mental swearing habit!) but now I'm not so sure. To me it's almost (whether it's accurate or not) saying one kind of sin is "better" than the other- such as saying lying is better than something big- such as robbing banks or something. What do you think?
I'm glad you had a nice Christmas! We had a quiet one as well, we had thought about going to see relatives (who live about three/four hours away, I think), but we were due to get some bad weather that day so we stayed home. We're not super big fans of Christmas travelling, I guess. I suppose the potential stress of it all is something we want to avoid- especially on Christmas.
So we stayed home, watched a movie or two and had a good time.
Yes, it's been a wonderful and lovely break! No school, no homework, no violin lessons/practice... hurray! The braces-removal ceremony went splendidly, thank-you!
I looked quite bewildered, I'm told, upon feeling around my actual teeth for the first time... but, I've gotten used to it.
Hurray! And now here's a question that's rather smacks of killjoy, when do you go back, if you haven't already?
I'm glad the removal of the braces went well, it must be nice indeed!
How is life for you on other accounts?
I hope all is well!
Yes, I am enjoying it so far! For me it's not terribly hard---yet.
It helps that I know piano pretty well.
Siblings liking the gifts is the best part.
Christmas break is going well, thanks!
It's been a lot of fun, and my sister and brother-in-law with their daughter have been here almost constantly for 2 weeks, which I don't mind.
That's good! I've heard that if one knows the piano it does help in the learning of other instruments, I wonder why that is? *ponders, a little*
Oh yes! It really makes me happy when they really like what I get them.
I'm glad your break went well! Do you return to your school work soon?
Annnd I suppose I should be off. There's so much I have to do now, I wonder what it will be like after the holidays for my family are over! (We have another week off...) Cheers all!

I hope everyone had a happy new year and Christmas! It feels absolutely terrible to be starting school again after such a long break. Oh well. Thanks so much everyone who wished me a happy birthday! I really appreciate it!!
I gotta get back to it once I'm done catching up

Haha, no problem... I quite enjoyed it!
Narnia girl, that's so cool that you got an mp3 player! Don't you just love having one? They're the best
EP, haha, yay for iTunes shopping sprees. Thanks for the (belated) birthday wish! Oh, I remember you posted a while back that none of your radio stations played Skillet. Have you tried air 1? You can go here to check if it's in your area: http://www.air1.com/Music/StationList.aspx
but yeah, they play Skillet fairly often.
Miss Rose, you guys got a wii too! It seems like so many people got one for Christmas this year. My dad got our family one, but I think he enjoys it the most
Oh! and I saw National Treasure 2 a couple weeks ago. I liked it but not as well as the first. (I've only seen the first once though, and it was a while ago, so my memory may not be serving me too well)
Congrats on getting off your braces!
That's all for now, see you all later!!
Hello, hello! From browsing this thread, it seems like everyone had a lovely Christmas!
I had a very nice one myself. I got The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (my dad surprised me with that one
), War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, the new Casting Crowns album, the new Switchfoot album, a football, a guitar stand, and the third Indiana Jones movie.
Moreover, it was really lovely to see my uncle again, who lives quite a few states away.
I had an excellent time spending Christmas with my family and celebrating Christ's birth!
I have a couple other songs that I have done, but I haven't asked my parents if I can upload them yet. I might be able to, but it's kind of doubtful. . .
I love your new avatar, btw!! It's gorgeous!
Okay. I'll still be looking forward to more from you. I'm the type of person who enjoys covers of songs, and I love them even more when it's from someone I 'know'.
Thank you! I don't think I'll be changing it for quite some time, because I love it too. Much thanks to your sis!!
The pictures of your new niece and nephew are adorable!! The stocking one is very cute.
Thanks! It's shorter than the lists I would make when I was younger. Had a lot more things that caught my interest years ago....
Vern hasn't asked for much this year. Mostly just cooked meats from the kitchen with Lady A's special blend of spices.
![]()
I know, isn't that true? It took me almost an hour to figure out 8 things I wanted for Christmas this year.
It used to take me about 3 minuets to figure out 20.
Looks like you were bound to have a good Christmas, Vern! I hope you're enjoying those meats...if you haven't ate them already.
Happy sweet 16, Kat!!! It sounds like you had a lovely birthday!
By the time I get around to answering this, the answer is... I'm recovering from being sick.
Aww! I hope you weren't sick on Christmas? I was actually in the same boat as you and was trying to recover as fast as I could before Christmas.
Mhm, I'd have to say Ever After was worth 50 cents
How did your Christmas parties go?
Quite well, thank you.
Yes, I saw Ever After with my mom and she's calling it one of her favorites. Thanks for recommending it to me! By the way, have I told you I love your avatar?
How is 2010 going for you so far?
@Lucy It sounds like you had a great Christmas! That Lucy ornament sounds really neat, I didn't know such an ornament existed.
Sunday we found out what play we're doing this year. Little Women.

Ha! That's such a guy's reaction. I would be ecstatic, because I love that book.
I'm sorry you find the play so unappealing.
@Ed P. Whoa, sounds like you had a nice Christmas! Black Friday can be a wonderful thing.
@Lady Courage I really enjoyed that 'No White Christmases in Housten' video! I can totally relate...no White Christmases here, either. Thanks for sharing.
To all the Jane Austen fans in the Square......... PBS will be airing a new BBC miniseries of Emma staring Sunday Jan 24.
Just thought y'all might like to know that.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for sharing that!! I was hoping they would air it here in the States. Are you an Austen fan yourself?
Ryan Seacrest (the host of American Idol) somehow found my Fireflies cover, and posted it (with a few others) on his website!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, that is sooo awesome!!! Your cover really is unique.
I think you're on your way to becoming an internet super star.
You've got TAN, Jon Foreman, and Ryan Seacrest all watching some of your stuff!

Mortereve, all!
Here's that catchup post that I kept promising.
So the first day of school of the year went by well. We finished early, so it was nice to come home from acting class and to have no extra schoolwork to finish.
Don't know if I've mentiond this, but over vacation we watched Night At The Museum 2 (Haven't watched the first, though) and National Treasure 2. I liked them, for the most part. Although, I think I enjoyed the first National Treasure better. (Although I do like this one much; very suspenseful and interesting for a history buff like myself.)
Catchup (The laptop doesn't have a touch pad, so I won't be able to to many copy-and-paste quotes...):
Thanks for your prayers for my mom, Miss R!
I've been doing rather well for the most part, thanks. That sounds like it was fun. I haven't watched any versions of Pride & Prejudice, but I'm hoping to watch the newer version sometime soon.
Well, I hope you had a good Winter Break! I know I did; I've been crocheting and knitting the entire time so I got credits for highschool for 100 hours for art, which was a surely a surprise, but a good one.
This Christmas we stayed home and had a quiet, relaxed time. We have several traditions such as reading the Christmas story, Mom making cookies and a special Christmas cake, waking up on Christmas morning to open gifts and such... What about your family?
What you had been up to then certainly seems interesting, Mel. How cool you're writing another novel!
And the Christmas program sounds neat. How did it go?
Aw, you play handbells? I love their sweet, hight sound. And those are some favourite carols...now I miss Christmas.
Ditto, NG! The break from schoolwork was nice. How was your first day of school?
Aw, thanks!
--From page 90-- D'aw, thank-you for the hug! I feel special. *returns the hug*
Yes, our church gathering was neat and fun!
What did you do for New Years? (Sorry if you already said though, lol)
Princess- Yes, I think I was prepared for Christmas then. I got everyone something they liked, so that's always something that makes me relieved.
Anyways, what's been going on for you lately?
*waves to sweeet* Favourite kind of apple? I'm going to agree with stardf here and say that I like Fuji apples best. I love eating them with goldfish crackers; toddlerish but delicious.
Thanks, Djaq!
I've been doing swimmingly lately! Lately I've really been into crocheting and making little animals; it's the most random but fun hobby.
All right, no worries, I won't be using that colour anymore. But I rather liked it.....
@Cor: That was a right guess then! (I was thinking it was from somewhere else...
) It was an amusing part from a great movie. Another part that has me laughing is when she's trying ever so hard to pronounce "A" and is in the most miserable, disheveled state. And when she sings "Just You Wait 'enry 'iggins". (All put together, I enjoy that movie muchly.
) What have you been up to latley?
How interesting, now I have a better visual of how you look, Vern! =] Do you have a green cousin in Irelan? Well, I suppose that makes most sense...
Thank-you for your prayers, Kate! She's about all better except for some pain in the upper arm, but nearly all her fingers are well again, so we're very thankful for that. =]
Thanks so much, Fanny! The update on how she's doing is above. ^ You have no idea how much your compassion and prayers are treasured by me.
*chuckles* I share your feelings of the new year! I'm glad you're so excited for it. (Aw, I'll dance with you if you want...except I don't know how, either. So we'd better not.
) I've been doing splendid, thanks! I've been learning more crocheting, and I've also been reading more Jane Austen which I've been enjoying a whole lot. ^.^
*skims far too much than what should be allowed, but there is no limit and it proves convenient at the moment*
*waves back to Aiden*!!! We haven't talked in so long! How was your Christmas, New Years, and all that? =]
I think I'm finally done with this catchup I didn't think would come to be; and it took me less than an hour! Hurrah! (And it certainly helps that this new laptop doesn't crash unexpectedly...)
I have no unique exit thought out, so I'll just say I'll be around for a bit and then I'll leave.

*dashes into the Square* Eep! The Square went fast yesterday! This will have to be a hurried ketchup...I have schoolwork this morning...ack.
Lol, yeah, Benjamin. I wish Christmas break could go on and on. Now it feels like the holidays are really over since we're starting school again...
NN95, oh, you went bowling on New Year's Eve too? Sweet! Do you go bowling often?
I know, I can't stand cold, windy weather...and it was really windy outside yesterday. We were shopping yesterday afternoon, so we were walking in and out of stores, and the wind was whipping my hair everywhere, and it was so cold.
Thanks, FF! Nope, we don't have anymore snow. Well...we started school again yesterday. All I can say is...it wasn't fun. Now that the holidays are over, it's gonna take a while to get back into the swing of things.
MA, yup, having an MP3 player is awesome. I have tons of songs on it now. And now my sister is jealous, so she wants to get one for her birthday in February.
Poggy, yes, I did have a nice Christmas! Sounds like you had a nice one too! Yeah, I was really surprised about the Lucy ornament, it was really neat. If you google "Narnia Lucy ornament" you could probably find a pic of it.
Bella, my first day of school wasn't too bad...it could've been better though. We were busy yesterday afternoon, so I didn't get all my schoolwork done, which means I'll have to finish it up today.
Oh well, it'll just take me a few days to get used to school again.
How'd school go for you?
No prob! Well, we were at home on New Year's Eve, and I stayed up till midnight (though it left me utterly exhausted afterwards). And on New Year's Day...let's see, we went out for lunch. I think that was about it.
Whew, glad that's done with. *exits the Square listening to "Where No One Stands Alone" by the Gaither Vocal Band on her MP3 player* Have a lovely mortereve, all!

Ah, I see. I doubt they knew there wouldn't be any more episodes. And even if they did, they didn't necessarily write a closing episode. I've seen the last episode of a lot of shows and none of them indicate that it's the end. I doubt it'll be any different with Get Smart. Ah, that sounds neat! I, too, wonder if that sequel sort of thing is any good.
We've been watching shows like Perry Mason... that's one of my favorites.

Lol! Before our director announced what it was, she said, "Alright guys, I don't want any noise out of you..." Eh, I don't care. I love being in plays, no matter what they are. Although this and Anne of Green Gables, which we did two years ago, will by my two least favorites.
Don't know if I've mentiond this, but over vacation we watched Night At The Museum 2 (Haven't watched the first, though) and National Treasure 2.
That's great! I'm glad you liked NT2. As for NatM2... it's ok, but you should really watch the first one; it's much better.

You're right, it's been forever since we talked! Last I remember, we were discussing guns and keeping people in boxes. What lovely topics. My Christmas, New Years, First Day of School, and such... all went very well! How about yours?
