It's time for some catchup!

I see where you're both coming from, but isn't [Mr. Collins] supposed to be someone that's utterly repulsive?

Some P&P talk here? I'm making my way through the book, and I must say about Mr. Collins:

Spoiler
The part where he insists that Elizabeth's rejection of him is just her "playing hard-to-get", so to speak, is so repulsive that it's hilarious. I think someone's read too many romance novels here and might want to find this thing called a "reality check". Perhaps he can order some through his local bank?

That said, I absolutely love Mr. Bennet's response to all this, after his wife calls him down to try to convince Elizabeth to change her mind: (paraphrased) "Well, Elizabeth, you have quite a predicament in front of you. From this point on you must be a stranger to one of your parents. For your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do."

Absolute gold.

Conga-Rats to everyone who successfully completed the NaNoWriMo challenge! I was too busy to fully participate this year and the year before, but I remember winning NaNo two years ago and it was certainly a very fun experience.

My younger brother (Bravo) has a super amazing voice, but he wants to go into the air force!

Well, for the record, I'm at a Navy training school and am regularly involved in a (volunteer) choir here. Granted, the Air Force might be different, but your brother might have an opportunity to use his voice and be in the Air Force too.

At the very least, I'm sure he'd make a great cadence singer. ;)

I am training to be a firefighter. While you are a Volunteer you are constantly training.

Interesting. I remember getting some firefighting training in boot camp and it was easily my favorite subject there, with the practical sessions being among my most enjoyable experiences. Hope you enjoy your firefighting training!

...and I hope you never try to use a solid stream of water to fight a Class Bravo (flammable liquids) or Class Charlie (electricity-based) fire.

One Word...

SNOW

I heard about that. Craziness, definitely. And I'm hearing we might get snow here on shore-side southern California... which I don't think they've had for, what, a couple decades?

I'm sure the Navy aerographers (AG) are having a field day. And not in the cleaning sense.

And why is it odd that your sister is 19?

I think it's because there really isn't any major milestone associated with being 19. 16 you can drive a car, 17 is kind of insignificant but it does mark the age you can watch an NC-17 movie (not that any of us would want to watch such a movie...), 18 is the big turning-adult age and marks when you can vote, 20 is just a nice, neat number and marks the end of your "teenage" years, and 21 is that infamous age where you can consume special potables that have the potential to make you do crazy and dangerous things.

What's associated with 19? Pretty much nothing. :p

The two famous places I'd still really like to visit are the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls is an awesome place. If you do ever go there, be sure to look for this particularly amusing landmark.

I've never been to a football game, but everything on your list can also be applied to baseball Stardf...

Everything, up to and including volunteer opportunities for us military folk to hold a giant flag in the middle of the field in exchange for watching the whole game for free?

I'll have to see if my detachment offers that one, too.

Oh, in relatively big news, my dad bought a truck on Saturday. It's a red Toyota Tundra. It's really cool...and very loud!

Ah, trucks. Trucks are definitely cool.

And there are definitely people who should've bought a truck.

*gives stardf a limp and soggy salute* Nope, I wasn't cut out for the military.

*salutes back* (o_o7) Just remember, upper arm parallel to the floor, and bend at the elbow 45 degrees. ;)

Hey, I didn't think I was cut out for the military, and I managed through just fine. :p Granted, there's the whole psychological aspect that's tough as well, so I won't blame you.

And... secure from catchup.

*skips into the Square with a big grin on her face* Yay for Saturdays!! No school! *does a happy dance*

Yesterday evening I watched Star Wars: A Phantom Menace. I love that movie! It's so sad when Qui-Gon is killed, though. :( I also watched part of Prince Caspian last night. Hadn't seen it in a little bit, so I wanted to watch it again.

I checked out the first Ranger's Apprentice book at the library today. I loved that series so much that I'm gonna read it again. ;))

Ketchup:

*waves back to Libby* How are you doing? :)

Benjamin are you serious?! Your brother got to see parts of VDT?! I'm so jealous!!!

Jojo, lol, we don't get snow days either. *sighs* That's what happens when you're homeschooled. :p
Oh, that's cool that your church is doing a Living Nativity! Our church used to do that too! I was one of the angels once. :D
Well, for Christmas our family is visiting both sets of grandparents and lots of cousins and relatives. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. :)
NaNoWriMo inspired you out of writer's block? Then I should do NaNo next year, because unfortunately I get writer's block a lot. :p
I've heard of "The Zion Covenant" series before...is it good?

Djaq, is National Treasure 2 good as well? I was thinking about checking it out at the library...

*gasps* Is it really? Yes, it is! The Torch!! It's been so long since you've been in here! How'd your NaNo go?

EP, well, I'm going Christmas shopping on Tuesday (yes, I know I should have gotten it done earlier, but I haven't had a chance :p ) and next Saturday we're going to visit my grandparents for the day...then the day after Christmas we'll be visiting my other grandparents...it'll be quite busy. :p

FF: The snow arrived, but alas, some of it melted in the package! ;) However, I have salvaged what was not melted and put it in our yard. Of course, it doesn't cover all of our yard, but I put it outside my window so I can see it when I get up in the morning.
Thanks for sending that! ;) :p

PrinceCor, you haven't had much snow since 1993? I live in the South too but we're not very far down South, so we get at least one or two snows every year.
In the winter, though, we always get more rain than we get snow. :p 'Tis very annoying - I'd rather have snow than rain.

*waves to stardf* Good to see you around! How are you doing?

*enters the Square singing Your Love is a Song by Switchfoot*

*squees with delight* My sister just bought Switchfoot's newest album Hello Hurrican!!! It is AMAZING!! Enough said.

Ah! It's so good to be back in the Square amongst sane people! ;) How is everyone doing?

I was doing well today, until I looked at the enourmous ammount of catchin up that I have to do. :-o *GAPES* Oh well. I guess it's my fault for leaving the square for so long. Here goes.

Have fun with that! But at least you got the 50,000 words.

Yeah, I've actually started the re-writing process and am through the first four thousand words or so. :D My story was so, so horrible, I just had to change it. None of my characters were in character (can't stand that) and so I decided that I at least had to rewrite the beginning (the worst part). I'm terrible at beginning stories and finishing them. Who wants a story to end?

Hmm, I'll have to see if I can drag her in here at some point.

That would be most entertaining if you could. :)

Yes, indeed! I'm playing the piano for my church now and we're starting to play some of my favorite Christmas songs!

How fun! I wish I could hear you play... :)

starkat, snow is always really, really exciting!! :) If you have the spare time, could you send some if it my way? We haven't gotten any snow yet... :(

Ruby, that's cool that your uncle gave you his old piano books! Are you learning any Christmas songs, since Christmas is coming up?

Yeah, he's really sweet. Haha! I don't think I could possibly keep myself from playing Christmas music even if I tried. Yeah, I'm learning Christmas songs and I'm enjoying them very much. :) Who doesn't like Christmas music?

OH! I'm so glad that everyone enjoyed our Christmas Part I Ruby-Winter post! It was tons of fun to make! :D

Hehe. He might change his mind! My family's the same way; both of my younger siblings are really talented musically (probably moreso than I am) but neither of them has any interest in it.

I hope he does. He's got too much talent to not use it. :) Haha! I think that's so funny about your family! :P

Everything you listed, for starters! I always love decorating our house, baking lots of cookies, and driving around to look at Christmas lights. And Christmas music! And watching someone's face light up as they open the gift you gave them is something I look forward to all month.
I think overall I just love the feeling of Christmas; how everything, even the normal daily routine, is somehow more special than during the rest of the year.

Gift-giving is such a joy! Christmas shopping is fun too! My family has this thing where for Christmas each sibling has to buy a gift for the sibling just younger or older (alternates each year). My youngest brother (eight) was so sweet to shop with, because he got to buy for my oldest sister. :P Anything sparkly or pretty he wanted to buy for her! It was so cute!

You've definitely had experience with it, then. Yup, it will come soon enough, and it's already a stressful enough season when you come to it--there's no good in starting the stressing earlier than needed.
A lot of the stress is due to the fact that, because of both where I live and what I'd like to study, my college options are just...requiring a lot of work. It's all worth it, of course, and I know that God'll give me the grace to handle it, but it's just rather frustrating right now. I'm looking forward to having it all done!

Yes, at times like these it's good to remember that the more hardships we face, the more grace we will receive from God to keep us through thos hardships. But at times like these, it's hardest to remember. I will definitely be keeping you in my prayers. My sister has been struggling with something very similar, what with choosing the right college for her field of interest, but also one that she can afford...will be praying for you!

How's your cold coming? I hope you keep feeling better! And I'll be praying that your research paper goes well!

My cold's come and gone, though I have a slightly sore throat still. And I got my research paper finished (first draft :P)! :D Yes, my research paper is the reason for my absence. I actually have an excuse this time. :-o Haha! I'll be glad when my paper is completely done.

Wal-Mart at night? That's always interesting...

Haha! Yes, it is. :P

*waves to Ruby* Love your new avatar. Sorry you have a cold. Colds are no fun...I have one, too, now.

*HUGS NG* Thanks! Djaq is so talented with graphics...and thanks for all your concerns! Oh dear! You have a cold? Ugh. No fun. How is it coming? I hope you feel better soon. :)

I'm glad you're taking piano lessons, Ruby! You'll learn a lot.

Thanks, Miss Rosario! :) I am learning a lot already. And I'm enjoying it a lot! :P How have you been? I've been gone too long...

My, my... it seems that Ruby and Winter have begun a tradition.

Haha! Yes, it would seem that we have! It's a very fun tradition, though! :)

That's cool! I agree, time off is great Everything's going fine, thanks! Got our first snow this week, so I guess winter's here now and Christmas is just around the corner, so that should be great. Conga-rats about winning NaNoWriMo!! That's great!

Leafy!!! So good to hear that you're doing well! Oooh! Everyone's getting snow but me! :(( You really, really have to send some our way. Please? :P And thanks for the congrats on NaNo! It was a lot of fun and I've actually started the re-writing process... :) How have you been doing?

Ruby and Winter... you two are the best. *applauds* Looking forward to the next---*ahem*--"show".

Aw! I'm so glad that everyone enjoys reading them...because they are so much fun to write! Thanks MissR!

Congrats! *cheers* That must be a relief.

Yes, it is! A big relief!! #:-s

Well, we have it now! I've been doing great, thanks, and you?

Humph. No need to brag. [-( ;) I'm doing great, MissR! A tad sore from dance yesterday...and my feet are freezing (need socks), but other than that, I'm fantastic! :D

*waves to Aiden* How are you? Looking forward to Christmas?

Haha! Did I really ask for that ? I thought I was getting the Screwtape Letters? and what about my Blu-Ray Prince Caspian? Come on, Ruby and Winter, take the list back to Santa and he'll tell you what the list says--maybe you should talk to him about that handwriting too...

=)) Hahaha! Hey! It wasn't our fault that Santa had the tags all labeled incorrectly! We'll try to make ammends within the next episode... ;)

The Screwtape Letters? Those are good. I've just started reading through them.

*returns Ruby's hug enthusiastically* Hey there, you! I know, I was terrible and actually forgot about Narniaweb for a while there, with so many other things going on. I know just how you feel, it WAS great to finish NaNo strong, wasn't it? :D <--it made me glow. ^_^ I've been doing well, thanks. I've been working at our friend's candle-store at the mall quite a bit lately, which is terribly fun, especially as it gets closer to Christmas. Tomorrow's my last day of babysitting too, which makes me kind of relieved. And how are you?? Do you get a long Christmas-break from school?

Jojo!! *HUGS*You work at a candle store? Wow! You know that actually sounds like a fun job! I love candles...they are so beautiful. Oh! And I can imagine how lovely they get around Christmas! And they smell so nice too. Haha! Babysitting is always hard work and very tiring. Little children have this way of draining your energy.

I'm doing very, very well! I've finished up my research paper (first draft), just took my final Latin quiz of the year, my final Geometry test, and I'm going to have a final Biology exam next week. And then it's Christmas Break!! I get to go visit my oldest sister with my family over Christmas! So excited!

How about you? Looking forward to Christmas? I hope everything's been going well. :)

*hugs back* I'm doing fabulous! How are things in your neck of the woods (or, town, depending on where you live)?
Nice double post with Winter, btw!

Things are pretty good around here! We're all looking forward to Christmas break. School has just been crazy this year. Good, but crazy. And Christmas is always lovely time for family. How about you? I hope you haven't died or something in my long absence...I would really hate it if you did. :P ;)

Haha! I'm glad you enjoyed the joint-post. They are so fun to write. You and Djaq going to do another one anytime soon?

Aiden! Did I miss your birthday? :( I'm sorry. Did you have a good one?

Well, for the record, I'm at a Navy training school and am regularly involved in a (volunteer) choir here. Granted, the Air Force might be different, but your brother might have an opportunity to use his voice and be in the Air Force too.

At the very least, I'm sure he'd make a great cadence singer.

I hope he does. His problem is, he's too talented. His main interest right now is in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture. He's very creative and a really, really good artist. But, hopefully, with the help of my mom, he'll get a little musical experience. :)

Well, that's all for now! I really need to be off and get dressed! Haha. It's a Saturday and so I'm still in my pajamas. :P

God bless, everyone!

Benjamin are you serious?! Your brother got to see parts of VDT?! I'm so jealous!!!

Yes he did, And I,m really jealous too! Why he got to see it was because they ( My brother and one of the main producers of VOTD) just joined in a contract to make a movie together, So The producer took him up to his office ( 16 story's up ) ( with My brohters partners too) and showed them some of the VOTD! He said that parts of it was always playing in his office! He said it was really cool!

Good Mortereve everyone! :) I hope everyone has been having a very pleasant day! :) I have been, although our uncle left today. Ah well.

@ Fanny. The ones that always stuck with me were: I'm just an Ordinary Man, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where you Live and The Rain in Spain. :)

Glad to hear you have been doing well. Ah well, at least you got to see your uncle.... that is a good thing, right?

The Rain in Spain is certainly a(n)...(I want to call it fun, but I'm not sure that that is quite the correct word) easy to remember one, eh? I forget the title of it, but I like the Just You Wait Henry Higgins, Just You Wait song quite a bit. 'Specially the part where he's marched down the stairs to face the firing squad. ;))

Thanks! Oh yes! It's always nice seeing my Uncle. :) We always have such fun, he and our family. :)

There's plenty more from where that came from. ;)

Ironic how a "smart" car is being used for something very... well, not-smart.

On that note, here is someone else who should definitely have bought a truck.

By the way, I've heard much talk of Skillet in this thread, which reminds me that I need to add them to my "possible bands to buy an album from". So, for all ye Skillet fans: please recommend me a good studio album from them. Something to keep in mind: I'm the type of person who loves those deep album cuts that most people seem to forget about, so try to recommend me albums that are overall favorites, or otherwise have really good songs that aren't singles or whatnot.

Good mortereve, all. I have been absent for far, far too long. Not really sure what's been going on here anymore.

I've been doing well. Working, doing stuff with the fire department. We had an ESD (Emergency Services District) Christmas party last night; have our Driftwood Battalion party next Saturday.
We put up our Christmas decorations today. Always do it on the twelfth, as a way to remember the day our younger brother died. Oldest sister and her family came out today, saw the kiddos. They are soooooooo adorable. Getting so big now, oldest one's starting to talk, younger one's starting to walk........
