NG: I hope your orthodontist appointment goes well!
gazer: I hope your dentist appointment goes well! (Too!)
littlgriz: Welcome to the square! :)

And now I must go finish my math, reply to a PM, practice piano, and write a few thousand words. Oh, and get a large tall glass of water....

Salutations to all!
The other night I finished up a book I've been reading...
When I was almost done, I looked at the clock and it was 11:15pm. I shut my book. But I couldn't stop thinking about what the ending would be like. So I got a hand full of pixy stix to help me stay up longer and read! :)

Now, for some catch-up:

Hello, littlgriz, haven't seen you around much! Welcome to Town Square! ;)

Oh, I see. My bad.

:p

GeorgieXOXO, yeah, I always say ketchup instead of catch-up. :D
I listen to the Gaither Vocal Band on YouTube sometimes too! I love southern gospel music!

I might have to try the ketchup thing sometime! :)
Who doesn't love southern gospel music?! ;)

*Steps into the square after viewing the old Town square on the Old NW*
Oh they were good times! I like the old NW better you can look at the old conversations at http://209.210.60.109/forum/forum_posts ... 22522&PN=1

Wow! I never posted in the old Town Square. But those posts are super short...how are you able to view the old topics like that anyway?

Well, better go! Goodbyes to everyone!

Hello all! *waves*

As you may have guessed, I'm not dead. :)
However, between school, NaNoWriMo, my own laziness, and computer troubles, I haven't been around for a while. I am not going to cacth-up just now. Actually, I may never catch-up. :p Anyhow, I jsut wanted to say hi!

See y'all!

*Walks in* Boring, I know. ;)
Today has been a rather boring day. :P I finished school...then I had nothing else to do. So I've spent most of my day on the computer or reading. :-s (Not that I mind spending the whole day on Nweb and reading, but I don't feel like I've accomplished much today. ;) )

*waves to pogginfan*
How was your weekend?

*waves back* Welcome to the Square! :D I'm usually called Poggy around here. Do you have a nickname I may call you? :)
Thanks, my weekend was really good! Mmm, so you like to bake? All those things you baked sound delicious! :) I'm afraid baking/cooking is not one of my talents, as I always tend to do something wrong. :-s :p So I admire you. :)

Oh my, in one sitting? ;))

Heh, I wish I could write 10,000 words in one sitting. ;)) But I'm afraid I don't have the patience. All these word wars I'm doing are really helping, though. :D

Ella! Yours and Bella's posts seem to be getting rarer and rarer. :(
Thanks for dropping by and letting us know you're still alive. ;)

The other night I finished up a book I've been reading...

May I ask what book that would be? :D *Hasn't had a pixy stick in a long, long time* :P

Edit: Hey, Winter! How have you been? :) *wonders if it's cruel that she said that because now Winter will have one more thing to reply to* :P

I like the Gaithers too! Have you ever heard of Ernie Haase & Signature Sound? They are my favorite guys group!

I have heard of them, but have only listened to one of their songs. *don't remember which one though* :p

It's always sad after a book that good is over! Especially if you finish a whole series. :)

Hello again everyone! :-h

Gosh, reading about everyone's nanowrimo experiences is making me really sad. I've wanted to do it for the past three years, but it always comes at the worst part of the year for me. Seriously, why couldn't they have done it during July or some relatively normal month? November is so awful for a college student. If I write at all these days, it's for my research papers; I have four of them due at the end of this month/the beginning of the next! :((

Hmm, I see there's a P&P '80 vs. '95 discussion going on. I must confess that it's been too long since I saw any of the adaptations for me to really express opinions on them (except for '05, which I caught on TV a few months back and didn't really like, though I considered it my favorite when it first came out). Mel, poggin, is Rintoul really your favorite Darcy? I remember thinking his looks perfect for the role, even better than Firth's, but he was so stiff. This worked at the beginning, but not at the ending. His stern countenance never really melted, and why Elizabeth fell in love with him eluded me a bit. Again, though, it's been a while.

Going waaaay back ... malkah, I haven't seen the full '08 Sense and Sensibility, but I have watched clips, and in response to the query you addressed to Mel, I really didn't like the Edward. He was much too forward, and not awkward enough. He seemed more like a Willoughby. :p As much as I'm not a Hugh Grant fan, I do think he came much closer to the character.

Cor, I'm glad you were able to see Gaslight! I really like that one. :D I want to see Nosferatu and Lawrence of Arabia, and maybe Psycho. Meanwhile, I continue to frown upon your absolutely ridiculous recurring criticism of West Side Story. :-q

And, moving back to the "present day" ...

lys, why was the toilet bowl cleaner anywhere near the washing machine?

It wasn't. But you see, living in a small dorm room inevitably means that many things will get stored on the high shelf in the closet, including the laundry detergent and toilet bowl cleaner. I merely grabbed the wrong bottle. :p (And by the way, I didn't particularly like the '95 Mr. Collins, although the actor makes for a great Mr. Lush in the BBC miniseries Daniel Deronda.)

Please don't think me incredibly cruel, Lys, but I was really laughing at your post.

Yes, you are cruel. You are all cruel. Poor disconsolate me! :(( =; [-( x_x :-l Seriously, what kind of friends are you, to laugh at a story of my misery (which I told for your entertainment ;) )?

I actually don't remember too much about the 2007 Elizabeth. ;)) Didn't she look quite a bit older though? I do think it's interesting that both adaptations have done a good job with Mary

Really? '07 Mary was one of the things that annoyed me most about that adaptation, along with the pretty-boy Wentworth and the completely ridiculous Bath Marathon sequence. 8-| She was completely ridiculous, and not in the way Austen wrote her. Mary had her issues, but come on, she wasn't mentally ill, which seemed to be this actress' interpretation! And yes, '07 Elizabeth was black-haired, pouty, and not at all attractive. She should at least have a sort of faded, "fashionable" beauty, though Anne should be more naturally pretty, at least near the end.

littlegriz, I don't mean to be rude, but did you know that as a rule you aren't supposed to post more than once in a row? If you ever need to add something to a post, you can always use the edit button too. :)

Whew, this has been a long post. I really need to get back to schoolwork now; however, I've enjoyed this very much.

Mortereve, all! :)

I really have no valid excuse for keeping out of the Square apart from NaNoWriMo, but if you asked me why I've not been writing no NaNoWriMo, I might say something related to that. ;) (Except I'd insert in "Facebook", and no one can accuse me of being missing of there. *blushes* )

I'm a terrible sport, but I'm not going to catch up from where I left off. Because I don't remember what page it was, and I don't feel like it. What's new? ;)

We just finished watching UP (Oh, how I love that movie! It's the sweetest, most wonderful, most beautiful movie. :) ), and now I'm scouting about for any screencaps! I badly want one of when the weather's fair, and the house is up in the clouds. I suppose I'll wait 'till some kind soul uploads them.
I'll catch up... oh, 2 pages from this one:

*waves to GeorgieXOXOsmile* I don't believe we've met. :) You can call me AitB or Bella (not from Twilight), whichever you'd like. *extends hand in greeting*

Do you guys realize that Christmas is in a like a month and a half?! I'm so excited...I can't wait. I've been listening to tons of Christmas music this week.

Oh, yes! :D I can't wait for it, either. I haven't been listening to Christmas music quite yet, but I have been playing some. :)

Fanny, I heard you got over 50k today! Wow! :-o Conga-rats! *takes fedora off in honor of Fanny* ;)

RE: The Princess and the Frog: Eh, I'm not sure if I'll watch it or not. I'm sort of one of the people who doesn't like all the new Disney stuff lately, but we'll see.

Goodness, Lys, that experience sounded terrible, albeit amusing! (What a pity for the sheets, I can sympathize. ;)) )

Hey Bella! How are things with you?

*chuckles* I'm sure you mean Ella, not Bella. :P

*skims the rest*

I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling up to catchup today, plus I'm tired so that doesn't entirely help, either. But, a big hello and a hug to all the dear SquareOnions!

I'll be around.

I've made no-bake cookies, chocolate chip cookies, corn bread, and even oreo heaven balls!

You have been busy! ;) What, may I ask, is an oreo heaven ball? :)

*waves back to narnianerd*
Conga-rats on winning the Senior Bowl! So is the season over for you?

*waves to CSLN* I'm so glad you stopped by! Come back soon! :)

What was your name on there again?

My name's silver_fire. :) I'm somewhat the same way; almost halfway through and my story is just getting started. ;)) Which is nice, because I'm not lacking in plot, but I don't think the novel will be finished at 50K.

Thanksgiving is coming up soon too.

What do you do for Thanksgiving? :)

How did the orthodontist appointment go?

Welcome to the Square, littlgriz! :)

I'm not dead.

#:-s ;)

How's NaNo coming for you?

I wish I could write 10,000 words in one sitting. ;)) But I'm afraid I don't have the patience. All these word wars I'm doing are really helping, though. :D

For that matter, why not write all 50,000 in one sitting? Never mind, I don't want to even think about that. @-) ;)) Ditto that, thank goodness for word wars. :)

I really didn't like the Edward. He was much too forward, and not awkward enough. He seemed more like a Willoughby. :p As much as I'm not a Hugh Grant fan, I do think he came much closer to the character.

I agree that Grant is much closer to the book character. He's so painfully awkward, though, that it's hard for me to accept him as Elinor's love interest. I have the same problem in the book, so perhaps it's inherent in the character. ;)

I didn't particularly like the '95 Mr. Collins

:-o Truly? I thought the '95 Collins nailed the book character. Would you mind explaining why you don't like him?

She was completely ridiculous, and not in the way Austen wrote her. Mary had her issues, but come on, she wasn't mentally ill, which seemed to be this actress' interpretation!

'95 Mary is far better than '07 Mary, for sure. It's been quite a while since I saw the '07 Persuasion, but I don't remember thinking she was mentally ill. :- Too loopy, yes, but still with a basic grasp of Mary's character. Maybe I need to rewatch some of it. ;)

*waves to Bella* :-h

*has been doing word wars and as a result, is really happy with her NaNo word count*

Have a lovely night, everyone!

Yes, well, the women have always been the most interesting characters in S&S, but I don't really hold with the Andrew Davies assumption that they're inherently bad characters and should be rewritten.

With Mr. Collins, it's not a matter of him being "right" or "wrong," or even faithful or unfaithful to the book. I just find the '95 version of the characters so slimy and odiously disgusting that I have a hard time watching him. It's really at the point of caricature.
