Good mortereve, all!
Oh my goodness there's actually a "talk to the hand" icon???
Well, I didn't get to DC after all. I ended up in the ER instead. Esophogitis. That's what they said it was anyway. Oh well!! I got to hang out with my daughter for a few days at home til I got better. In the process, I discovered E. Nesbit. Nice! But, sadly, Cep, no airport shopping for me. And I was told there were doughnuts. *sigh*
The humidity is thick as peanut butter today. And I think I must have missed the time when Violet Vale was convinced it was a good idea to mix peanut butter and oatmeal. Actually, that doesn't sound so bad...
I miss Violet Vale's very Anne-of-Green-Gablesesque posts.
On my hiatus, I also discovered Amazon's uk site won't let me order anything from their marketplace. Piffle. I was just shopping for films - since I got an All Regions player for a birthday present - but then discovered cornish blue cups, egg cups, tea cosies, biscuit tins, cake tins (and for what sort of cake I might ask? that can be stored in a tin and then be eaten? fruit cake? some sort of dense cake), NARNIA action figures, etc. All there - but unavailable for shipping to little ole me.
It is so hard to look right at Peter sitting on a unicorn and know I can't order him.
Of course, this might be a blessing in disguise. If I COULD order, I think I'd break the bank.
It is remarkable, though, how many films there are in the uk that are never released here. My first order of business: a cooking series called "Two Hair Bikers." Two hairy bikers travel the world (even to places like Transylvania) and dine from the comfort of their motorbikes on the side of the road. Rustic cooking at its finest. This show looks like a hoot. Or a hairball. Whichever you want to call it.

I wish I could respond to everyone, but I cannot. Therefore, I will go with the ones that stood out to me the most:
Have Cymru and PA stepped back out? Awww, looks like I missed them! It was nice to see two old faces about the Square, anyways. (Note: "old" as in "beloved former denizens" ... not "aged." ) If either of you pops back in, hello!
Nice save.
So, I'm a "beloved former denizen", am I? Well, don't I feel special now?
I really didn't know you missed me that much! Maybe you should pm me, next time you get to missing the "Golden, olden days of Ditto Town".
Sorry you missed your DC trip, Cymru! Glad you got extra time with your family, though. Bet they loved that! And E. Nesbit? I only discovered her books in recent years. Cool books, huh? (oh, and I miss Violet Vale too. miss lots of the people that were here in those days, in fact.)
Hmm... lemme think. What else to say? Well, not much is going on I'm afraid. I'm rather bored this week, and tired(ish) at the moment. (yet, not ready for bed)
Oh! Thanks to those who prayed for my sister! She's not all recovered yet, but she's doing much better! And it's nice having mom and dad home too. They loved their vacation, but miss it. (I understand the feeling, I'm STILL not over camp) Did you know daddy brought me some Taco Bell today?! and there was a funny story with that, too... but I don't remember all of it, and don't feel like typing it out. (besides, if any of you have me on facebook, you've seen it already... I made it my status)
Well, I'm outta here. Maybe I'll make some more graphics, who knows? I'll try and come back in here sometime soon! Until then: Love ya!
Kat,
After you mentioned that flower to me, I googled it. What an ugly beast!! It made me think of that flower in Dennis the Menace that only blooms once after like eighty years or something. The one in Mr. Wilson's garden.
It would be great in a book. I may have to thank you for the idea later.
Oh yes, and Ly, nice to see your old face about too. BTW, JillPole asked me very politely if I could send her a write-up of the old Ditto storyline with Cymru and Giles just to see where I was going. I finished them a couple of weeks back. Notice I said "them." It took several emails because there was so much story left. Anyway, if you want them, I can send them your way as well. Stargazer also said he wanted a copy. I admit, it was sort of cathartic getting it all out. Just PM me if you're interested.
I hope your ex-mod status means you have zillions more hours available for writing?!
I am currently enjoying a cup of creme caramel tea courtesy of a good friend over the pond. However, I must have a terrible strainer, as there seem to be a ton of leaves floating. I've never had them floating in the tea, just dribbed at the bottom of the cup at the end. Maybe I did something wrong. Smashing tea though. Lovely lovely smell.
Today, I am busy putting together the final pieces of a class I'm teaching tomorrow and going between fits of nerves and worries and thinking, oh this is done I wonder what's on television? I really have no even keel. It's an introductory class - which means you mostly introduce what you're going to talk about later. In a way, that's sort of my favorite thing in a whole series - besides the last one that wraps everything up. Goes the same with books I think. I like it when they introduce themselves to me and then when they finally reveal all their secrets. The bit in the middle is also important - especially if you want the ending to be worthwhile, but I can't help myself for liking the best bits can I?
Anyhoo, I'm hoping I just don't say too much - or too little tomorrow. The opening lines are everything.

Good Mortereve everyone!
I had a random Narnia moment this week. We were studying invertebrates in class and we discussed the three functions of the gastrovascular cavity in cnidarians. When I wrote it down I pronounced it slowly in my head "gas-tro-vas-cular." And I discovered that Peter is only half right. Gastrovascular is Latin and Greek.
*giggles at the Ali-Ben conversation* You two are hilarious!

Ooh, sounds deliciously Hobbity! Even though I don't like mushrooms.
That is quite a flower, starkat. I've never heard of it before. I bet my biology teacher will talk about it at some point; he likes plants.
I have cut a foot off my hair!
I remember when I did that. My head felt so much lighter afterward. Did you donate it?

I forgot to write that yesterday, our Spanish exchange student left . We were all so sad when we dropped him off at the airport. I was crying so much but I was trying not to actually sob b/c...well I was the only one crying...until I made the other student we had for a couple days cry. It was so sweet. I like it when guys cry . I'm still sad they left, but hopefully we'll keep in touch somehow and see each other again. We also got out Japanese exchange student yesterday morning. She's very sweet and nice but she speaks hardly any English at all, so we've been using an internet translator . It's going to be tough but I'm sure we'll have fun with her .
Also I ended up not going to that ball today . My parents are exhausted and tired of driving. But Libby's coming over so we'll have fun tonight anyway .
Libby: I'm sure I will be!
Cool .

Mortereve all!
For those wondering where I've been last week, I was up at a camp called The Wilds with several other teens from our youth group.
Yes, Aiden, I quite like hockey, but not as much now as in my teen years, when I was quite a fanatic. Vive le Montréal Canadiens!!! (And especially #20, Pete Mahovlich. )
It seems like someone who likes hockey would like soccer as well, since they're very similar sports.
It was chicken, grapes a little (believe it or not) cookie dough and then a ton of Iced Tea. So after I completely and I mean completely filled myself up on that I felt a little weird and then when I got home I felt a little worse then... ...
Aw, that's too bad. It's strange that those things made you get sick!
yep . So the other night, my sisters and I finally watched the first episode of Robin Hood (season 2)! It was pretty sweet- I hope we get to watch more soon .
Awesome! I saw about the first five minutes of the first episode when I was downloading it. It looked pretty cool. As usual, though, I'm still waiting for it all to be uploaded to YouTube.
Ah, I see. My bad. I do wish we had a faster internet, however; it would have been wonderful to watch the World Cup! My sister was rooting for Spain, so she was... excited, to say the least.
I was rooting for Spain, too! It was a great game!

*Ruby and Winter peer into the Square*
Ruby: Where did the announcer go?
Ruby: That's right. *sighs* Well, what are we going to do with the show now? Our special effects manager dumped us after the little--erm--explosion last time. And now our stage announcer is gone as well.
Ruby:Hmm...it's a bit dark on this stage. How about we just broadcast from the coffee shop and have a nice...um...talk show.
*Suddenly a beam of light shoots across the stage and blinds Ruby*
Ruby: Ow! My eyes! Ditch the flashlight, Winty! Do you honestly think I'm going to stand on this stage by myself and--
Ruby: Okay, Winty, if you seriously want to sit on that beam all night and collect splinters, that's fine by me. But I'm going to the coffee shop and getting some iced coffee!
*Ruby exits stage*
Ruby: *peering onto the stage* You know, you can come with me if you want! I mean...tomorrow is my birthday, if you hadn't forgotten. AND I haven't seen you in what? A week?
Ow. Well, I guess that's one way down.*Winter jumps up, dusts herself off and follows Ruby off stage*
*Scene cuts to Ruby and Winty sitting in Random Coffee Shop*
Ruby: So, we've had a pretty exciting last couple of weeks, haven't we, Winty?
Ruby: I'm a bit sad I missed the second week with the mission church, but helping out with the first week of VBS was still nice. Can't say that my week at church camp in the mountains was as nice. I mean, the mountains were nice and all. But getting sick for half of it was so much fun. And of course I missed you.
Ruby: Well, that's good to hear. Yes, I missed you and all the square. It's strange not knowing what you're up to, I mean, because usually we're doing everything together.
Ruby: I can't think of anything particularly important. I was just thinking that it was about time to wrap this up. What an occasion! Our very first Ruby-Winter hour of Utter Simplicity!
Ruby: Well, it was either "simplicity" or "boredom". *grins cheekily* Perhaps I'll change it if our Fellow NarniaWebbers think of anything better. But in the meantime, I think it's about time for you and I to "bottle off".

What an interesting plant, Kat. I googled it and, like Cymru mentioned, it immediately reminded me of Mr. Wilson's from Dennis the Menace.
There were a few incidents along the way, but all's well... No one was seriously injured, only one person fainted, and no one died...
*snorts* See if I want to ever be around that VBS... May I ask under what circumstances the faint occurred?
