Clear as mud?
Quite. So, based on your choice of majors, I'm guessing you're interested more in the acting side of drama? Or do you like directing and that sort of thing as well?
*would dearly love to see some of Mel's Narnian character portraits*
Well, you've already seen four because I remember you gushing over them. I'll bring the sketchbook to the Moot so all y'all can tell me who wants Narnian cards for a Christmas present.
Also, I found an old sketch I should send you... *puts it on her to-do list*
Our instructor was trying to convince us joining 4-H for the sake of showing with them would be fun. She wasn't terribly successful, we're all so terribly busy.
![]()
I am biased, of course, but joining 4-H for the horse project is not the best idea. The horse people are so accomplished and busy and... intimidating. I bet it's not quite like that where you are, but yeah. I usually did general exhibits in 4-H. And the general livestock bowl because our team won trophies.
Lex is the horse friends loaned me because they knew I'd always wanted to show horses and it was my last year and... yeah. He was a nice horse. I only fell off once, and that was while practicing. Have you ever heard the saying that you're not a real horseperson until you've fallen off and gotten back on about twelve times? My grand total is only two.

*comes in to make a morning post before heading off to work*
Good mortereve! It's Friday! Hope you're all doing well!
I have news! The Rosario Household has been enlarged. We now have a new kitten! *squeal* (Interestingly, she looks almost identical to 'Momo'). We're so crazily excited --- well, minus our other cat. Hopefully he'll accept her with time.
Aww, how fun! Baby kittens are so sweet. Might there be pictures? And is she...grey, then? *is trying to remember what Momo looks like*
Woww. What a... post...! *blinks* Just how long did it take you to do all that? (And you're not the only person who dislikes heat. Heh. Join the club!)
*checks the dates of all the drafts* It looks like--four or five? And then every time I was nearly done, the Square would take off and there'd be three more pages to go through.
I had no idea it was quite so long, though...
(Eh, it could be worse. Heat is still far better than cold. And it's an excuse for ice cream. )
And I wouldn't mind PMing you a recording in the least.
Thank you! I'm excited to hear it!
Indeed, indeed! I'm so excited (to put it... erm... mildly). And yes, believe me: there will be a huge long rambling jumble of paragraphs about the concert in the Town Square when I return.
Have you heard any of David Klinkenberg's work? He's a Christian violinist, and although I'm not sure he's as good as Joshua Bell, he is very, very talented. Djaq and flambeau are major fans of his.
It has been so hot here also!
You just graduated?
And we're not even to the hottest part of the summer yet. At least, we don't have much humidity. Having the dry heat helps.
Is it humid where you live?
Yes, I did, a couple of weeks ago. I was homeschooled (like 97% of Narniaweb
) and loved it!
It's a family business
Definitely and Tan/beige color, for some reason we do that all the time!
Ah, I see! That's great you're able to work on it as a family! (I'm guessing only with dad and brothers, though?)
Really, a tan/beige color? No pink? I might have guessed white, but that 's not too surprising, now that I think about it.
When it actually happened
It does seem that people that made such good first two seasons would do better, but I was told they did far worse, so I did not even watch the third season.Spoiler(Marian getting killed), it was not near as hard to bear as I thought, for I knew it was going to happen and I thought I would be very mad at whoever mad the seasons! lol
Wait, so

And good for not watching season 3. You didn't miss anything.

*waves to malkah*
*waves again* How're you doing? Is your summer going well so far?
I really did scream I screamed so loud that my brother left the room!
My sister and I watched it together, and although we didn't scream, there was plenty of squealing and gasping and cries of "NO!" My poor dad and brother were not overly thrilled about the interrruption to their baseball watching.
What was your favorite part of the trailer?
Nope, I didn't. I haven't seen it out of theaters either... Have you?
Yeah, I figured that might be why they had the odd names. And it was probably smart of them to do so.
Thanks!! Anything new with you?
I did see it in theaters, with my mom and sister. We loved it. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous (I could not figure out how they managed to get some of the shots). And the evolution-pushing is fairly subdued; I remember maybe one or two mild references. Anyway, it's a good one if you ever get the chance!
Mm, not much! I've been mostly working and trying to come up with some summer projects. And then a close friend of mine was in town last night and I met her for dinner (after getting lost for an hour and a half
). I hadn't seen her for two years, so that was a very special time.
How about you? What have you been up to?
*waves to Lady Amalthea*
*squeaks* ONE?! Now THAT is impossible!
So I thought. So what other bands do you like, besides The Rocket Summer?
Aww, thank you for the 'm's list! 'Twas most marvelously magnanimous.
haha I didn't . I'm done now and I really really loved it .
I saw that in the Books thread. Yay! I'm so glad you liked it! Who was your favorite character?
On Fondant: The worst part (other than that melted plastic spread over the cake would probably be more eatable) is that you have to TOUCH the dratted stuff so much to get it to go ANYWHERE. Who knows how many hands (and where have those hands been?) have been all over your piece of cake?
on the scene by the wave, it looks like only Eustace, Lucy, Edmund and Aslan are there...
I'm fairly sure there are only four shadows next to Aslan by the wave as well. So unless Reepicheep isn't casting one of them, maybe Caspian's not at the very end of the world after all. And hopefully, that means Peter and Susan aren't there either...
I understand about the heat! It's been in the upper nineties this while week. Talk about sweat and heat. We had to slip in the air conditioners yesterday. It's again hot today. Tomorrow is supposed to have heat indexes of up to 102 so we'll see if you we don't melt. We're filling our pool today though which is great. Maybe we can get some swimming done! I'm a water person. Though this heat really has rolled in the storms. They've been extremely bad this month. I hope they calm down. How have you been?
102 is just wrong. Did you melt?
And I'm not quite sure what "slip in the air conditioners" means--do you have portable ACs that you move around?
You have a pool? Lucky, lucky. The winters are too cold here to have them (the concrete cracks), but that must be wonderful to cool off whenever you feel like it!
I've been doing well, thank you! My summer's been busy but very enjoyable so far. How've you been?
*waves to Betsie*
I'm frightfully sorry if I missed anyone. Just make a scene, or something, and I'll probably notice you....
*promptly makes scene* You missed me!
Although I must admit, it's probably my fault that I was not mentioned, as I think your "hiccough" was shamefully overlooked in my last post...
Your book cover is beautiful! How awesome to have a book you wrote sitting on the shelf! This is why I must actually finish next year's NaNo...
What's your novel about, may I ask?
The first was excellent, and I do believe is now my favorite Austen.
Isn't it lovely? Such a quietly beautiful, romantic story. Have you seen any of the adaptations?
Hello and welcome to the Square, daughter of the King! I'm malkah or Mal, whichever you like. Hope you stop by often!
Eesh, summer school...that is intense! What are you planning on majoring in?
EDIT: Oops, I see you already told Mel. That sounds like a fun major!
Do you know what you'd like to do with it?
*sends a wave and a hug to Winter*
we're going to show in the county fair this September! Well, if we can get everything together by then... The only classes in my age level are walk-trot-canter, and I can't canter, yet, so...
You get to show horses in the fair? How fun! Good luck with the cantering! It's definitely interesting to learn; nowhere near as fun as a gallop and yet still not as controlled as a trot.
And I'm guessing you ride English style?
*sends another wave-and-hug to Valia*
Greenleaf! It's good to see you in here again! How's everything going?
I got my braces off!!!!
Yay!! That's fantastic!
Artistically, I've been working on 54 portraits of Narnian characters. I'm... a third done? I did a bunch and then kind of lost interest.
...54? My goodness. That's impressive! Are you working with oils? Pastels? Pencil?
Congratulations on your graduation! I hope it was a memorable party?
Thank you! It was, very much!
We had it at a butterfly zoo not too far from our house. So between the butterflies, and a lot of dear friends who were able to come, we had a marvelous time!
Trouble is, I dislike anything peach-flavoured, even though I love peaches, themselves. Here's a solution: you can have my peach milkshakes, and I'll nab your vanilla ones.
That's too bad! But I know what you mean; anything cherry or watermelon-flavored I find very unappealing, even though both of the actual fruits are delicious. And its a deal! But, but...what will we do about chocolate?
Well, I'm rather excited for the Reading Group--"Til We Have Faces"! Haven't read that book in a few years... And I've never taken part in the discussion or reading before really... So I've decided to this time. I think.
I'm excited for it too! Especially since it's one of the hardest books Lewis wrote--it'll be wonderful having others' thoughts on it. So it'll be fun! I just need to actually find the book in the wilderness of our basement first.
And I must be off. Duty calls! (Or chicken sandwiches and lemonade, rather. )
*waves to all present and absent SquareOnions* Have a lovely Friday and a fantastic weekend!

I am so hyper right now! it's so hot too.....
last night was the Wake for my grandmother and my cousin, Corinne, (whom I have not seen for a long time) and I were talking quietly. we saw a staircase leading down to another sitting room, so we went down. next to the sitting room was a hallway and we went down it and saw a door. curious, we opened it - and got the shock of our lives! in the dark room were caskets! we freaked out and ran for the stairs!

Mortereve, all!
*waves to winter* Hullo! Wow, it sounds like you've been b-u-s-y! *wonders what yellowbooks are*
And congrats on getting your braces off! Now you have retainers, I suppose... fun, fun, fun.
Yes, daughter of the king, we have two cats! The kitten is very new (one of our older cats disappeared last February), and we're enjoying her immensely. My sister is slightly allergic, but as long as she doesn't get cat hair up her nose she's fine.
Hey, Greenleaf! Yes, it has been awhile! Hopefully you'll be able to drop in more often. And I'm doing pretty well, thanks! Yourself? We finally managed to handle the animals, and they are all "tolerating" each other now.
Little baby anythings are just way too cute!
Exactly! She's grown so much the past week, however -- it's insane. Chico is finally putting up with her now, and they have even played together a bit. And as for the dog... well, she's still trying to make friends with both cats. No injuries have occurred yet, however --- so far, so good! (And yes, 'Momo' is a fictitious cat).
*is curious to see the tapestries Louise the First saw in town that would suit Archenland's castle so well*
Hmm... would a description suffice? (I'm afraid it'll have to.) Basically they were the long, flowing, down-to-the-floor kind. They seemed to be a deep red (almost burgundy, but not quite -- more red) velvety material with gold embroidery. Very exquisite and elegant... definitely fit for royalty.
My goodness... I love those Narnia character portraits, Mel! Wow. I love all the detail you put in, especially in the tables and drapes. Edmund's paper, Susan's chess set... it's all so neat! (I love to draw as well, so this is really exciting).
Fantastic work!
Certainly, malkah! I'll PM you a bunch of pictures if you don't mind, because some have me in them.
And yes, she's grey (with some black stripes and a bit of white on her chin, stomach, face, and four paws).
Hehe. Well, I like the cold. But yes, ice cream and swimming pools are definitely big pluses about summer!
And no, I've never heard of David Klinkenberg. I'll have to find out more about him! (And about the concerto... if you're interested, here's the link to a youtube recording of it that I found. At least you'll get a feel as to how it sounds!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stARHAJwz7Y&feature=related

@ WinterStar: Oh yeah, forgot about the retainer bit.
And safe traveling to each of your family who is venturing out this summer.
Want to post a photo of the blouse, Queen Susan?
Well, you've already seen four because I remember you gushing over them.
I'll bring the sketchbook to the Moot so all y'all can tell me who wants Narnian cards for a Christmas present.
Also, I found an old sketch I should send you... *puts it on her to-do list*
Yes, I did gush and am proud of it because those drawings really deserve gushfulness.
But there are 50 more yet to see!
And I know right now I'd love a Narnian card hand-drawn by our own Mel-y-poo for Christmas. (Grateful hobbit thanks for the sketch!)
*gawks in awe at malkah's post, especially as it was written in the morning before she headed into work*
How lovely! A butterfly zoo. We have a few of them around here and I am always in fascination when I go. (We call them 'butterfly conservatories' up here.)
What'll we do about the chocolate milkshakes? You can have 'em, as well, 'cause I don't care for them either, despite the fact that I adore ♥ chocolate!
Whoa, Liberty, that must have been quite the ... shock!
Heehee, sounds like a fun household with all those pets, Louise the First. And the tapestries sound simply gorgeous. Yes, fit for Royalty ... but not for Vern's mouth or stomach.
Mmm, I do so enjoy that concerto you linked to, Louise, but then, you already know that.

Hi! I am soooo tired right now. We went to the Monkey Trunks today, which was really fun but really exhausting (mentally and physically). Even though my arms are still kinda weak from it, I did enjoy myself .
That's really cool GtG! It sounds busy, but really fun
![]()
yes I"m sure it will be great .
Haha, those wee peas are quite square, aren't they?
*adores eating peas like that, fresh out of the pod*
ditto! At the farm we go to we pick our own snow, snap, and shelling peas. We end up eating as much as we bring home .
GtG, 93% is excellent! Is that your average? And interesting to read your thoughts on the Voyage trailer. Many of your points are similar in my mind as well.
Thank you . Usually I get 95% or higher, but 93% is ok. Ooh I'm glad! I like it when people agree with my extremely book-purist point of view
.
GtG, how exciting about your exchange students! I hope you make new friends in these two people. May it go well and smoothly. Also, just think how they're feeling, coming to a new country and living with an unfamiliar family. I'm sure you will all make them feel very welcome.
And wow, one of them is only 12 years old! That's quite young for an exchange, I would think.
Yes I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves .Yeah I'm sure they're much more nervous than I am. I would be very scared to go to a strange country by myself (and a strange family
) so we'll definitely all be trying to make them feel at home
. Yes she is very young. Everyone in her group was 10-14 years old, which was suprising. I've never heard of exchange students that young. But I'm sure she'll do great, she seems very outgoing and friendly
.
*wonders where Aiden/NN has got off to* Probably just really busy ...
DITTO! He must come back!
So I thought.
So what other bands do you like, besides The Rocket Summer?
Haha. Well I really really love Relient K. They are my favorite band ! My third fave (TRS is my second
) is Deas Vail. They are very awesome. I also like Switchfoot, Flyleaf, Phil Wickham, Anberlin, Mae, Skillet, The Almost, Owl City, Swimming with Dolphins, and Josh Groban. I could go on but I think I'll stop there
.
Aww, thank you for the 'm's list!

hehe. Wait did I have magnanimous?! If I don't I should have remembered it, it's one of my favorite adjectives .
I saw that in the Books thread.
Yay! I'm so glad you liked it! Who was your favorite character?
ooh that's hard! Probably Judd Cauley- I loved how utterly book-ish he was .
Ugh ditto about the fondant! I love watching all these cake shows on tv but I would never eat on of those cakes. It's like they massaged the whole thing *shudders* ! Just gross, especially since they don't wear gloves. I don't care how many times they wash their hands .

Thank you for the welcome, jo! School is alright for the most part. I did get one low test score and I want to bring my average back up, but other than that all is well. Summer school here is two six-week sessions, one in June-July, and one in July-August with no break in between the two.
giggles at daughter of the King's "Ding-dong" bit in her sig. YES!!!
You're actually the first person to comment on it. I was thinking about starting a club, something like The Honorable Society for Witches Who Are Dead to Stay That Way.
So, based on your choice of majors, I'm guessing you're interested more in the acting side of drama? Or do you like directing and that sort of thing as well?
That sounds like a fun major!
Do you know what you'd like to do with it?
Both! I really enjoy acting, especially on stage, but the acting business is dreadfully hard to break into. I did direct a student video last semester, and it was hard, especially because we didn't have very good equipment, but it was fun. I was thinking I could combine communication and drama and do commercials or advertise for a theater or something like that.
*waves to malkah* I am definitely going to try to stop by regularly. Already I didn't get on one day and this post is getting long!
The kitten is very new (one of our older cats disappeared last February), and we're enjoying her immensely.

*realizes she forgot to mention her nicknames to anyone* I have two nicknames: daughter (I believe 220chrisTian was the first to call me that), and dotK (it was either GTG or DiGoRy KiRkE who first called me that, I don't remember which). That's ok, rambles are awesome. Yeah, well, we aren't joining anyway, so no big deal. I've never fallen off, unless you count the time Bandit started walking off while I was mounting, and had only one foot in the stirrup. His girth was too loose, the saddle slipped sideways and I landed on my feet. Not really a fall.
*sends a wave and a hug to Winter*
You get to show horses in the fair? How fun!Good luck with the cantering! It's definitely interesting to learn; nowhere near as fun as a gallop and yet still not as controlled as a trot.

*Sends a wave and a hug back*
Hmm, you're scaring me now. I have enough trouble with the trot, as it is. Actually, I just had to switch to a new horse who has a really fast, bumpy trot and I can't find the rhythm. I had down really well on the horse I was riding before. Yeah, I'm riding English.
*waves to winter* Hullo!

I think it'd be kind of fun to do commercials, but I suspect that they're a lot harder to make than they look or sound. Would you prefer to do radio or TV? Or would the same company do both?

*waves to greenleaf* HEY! Have not talked to you in a LOOONNNNGGGG time! How are things with you?
Ben, "CGI" is "Computer-Generated Imagery", I believe. And "LotGK" is "Lady of the Green Kirtle" from The Silver Chair (my favourite of the Narnian Chronicles, btw). Oh, I see GtG responded to you on this, as well.

I have not clue which one is my favorite! It is so hard to decide!
Are you looking forward to the upcoming movie? It releases July 1, and I am quite eager to see it. I've watched a few episodes, but the DVDs are hard to come by up here, it seems. Thanks to stargazer and Aravanna for getting me on to the series.
I'm kind of looking forward to it, I'm hoping that they do not change much about it! But from the trailers is looks like there will be quite a few things different. But I'm stilling looking forward to see if it is good!
Only a few episodes? Oh you need to watch them all! Hope you can find some DVDs!
So you like what you have seen?
And we're not even to the hottest part of the summer yet.
At least, we don't have much humidity. Having the dry heat helps.
Is it humid where you live?
Yes, I did, a couple of weeks ago.I was homeschooled (like 97% of Narniaweb
) and loved it!
Yes very humid!
<---- see the sweat coming off the hands?
Well congratulations! I like homeschooling too!
Really, a tan/beige color? No pink?
I might have guessed white, but that 's not too surprising, now that I think about it.
Nope not much pink lol!
Yeah it is kind of funny how so many people pick the same or close to the same color.
Wait, so
Spoileryou knew that Marian was going to be killed?Did that make it better or worse? I'm still amazed that they even considered doing such a thing. It's like making Pride and Prejudice and killing off Elizabeth!
And good for not watching season 3. You didn't miss anything.Unless you like being disgusted, shocked, traumatized and throwing things at your screen.

It probably made it a little better to bear but watching the whole thing knowing that she was going to be killed was not that good.
lol yeah!
No, I would not say that I like being and doing that ;
I'm fairly sure there are only four shadows next to Aslan by the wave as well. So unless Reepicheep isn't casting one of them, maybe Caspian's not at the very end of the world after all.
And hopefully, that means Peter and Susan aren't there either...
If they have Caspian there they had better have a good explanation! AND PETER AND SUSAN!
THEY BETTER NOT BE THERE! That would be COMPLETELY Against the books!
Alright that took a little while...
I'm going to go read the latest news on the NW homepage...
See you all later!

*Cor and Vern enter the Square after yet another busy week*
Morteve all! Well, Life continues to be rather busy for the Royal Family of Archenland. Oh well, at least I'm able to stop by once a week. I'm beginning to greatly sympathize with LL and Lys about not being able to be in the Square as much as they would like.....
*The Prince and Dragon acquire some chocolate from the over ripe chocolate tree and then take their seats at the fountain*
Thanks for letting us know that the chocolate tree needed picking, Rose!
*munch, munch* Alright, time for a catch-up post!
*A most excellent idea, Cor.
*
----------------------------
@ Mal. Very well. Vern was greatly looking forward to dumping you in the pool, though....
*I was not!! I was greatly looking forward to dumping you, Mr Cor, into the pool or fountain. Either one works for me. *
*No, spam s'mores are quite definitely not on my list of edible foods. Though I do have a brother-in-law that might like those....*
Same here! Merlin's such a lovable, heroic goofball.
If you've only seen a few episodes, I can definitely understand you not liking Arthur. He is, to quote Merlin, "a royal prat" for much of season 1.
How would you like to see more of the dragon? I'd like to see an expanded role for him as well, but since he's attached to a chain underground, his usage is a bit limited.
Too true! Though, he's a likable goofball.
I'm not too sure exactly which season I have watched, since it's mostly been random episodes. But yeah, so far Arthur just gets on my nerves.
I'm not too sure... Probably just more of having him in each episode instead of seemingly there as a plot device.
Y'know, I think you did. Sorry about that! Anyway, that's great! I know so many people who are taking the community college route--it's such a good way to work towards where you want to go (and save money!). And you get to live at home.
So do you have any idea what you'd like to do eventually?
That's fine. I'm used to people constantly asking that question now. Thanks! Yes and as you said, it's cheaper and, from what I've heard, not quite as big of a jump as from highschool to college.
I really don't know. For the longest time I wanted to be a film director, but recently I've discovered that I really don't want to be a part of that area..
@ Rose. Quite welcome, miss Rose! Yes, the weather has been quite unpleasant around here as well. Mostly in the humidity department....
*"Barney-like dragon"? Well, I suppose the hug will make up for that... Ah alright, the hug definitely makes up for that.
Vern sends a
back to Rose*
@ Ali. At this time, no. I'm planning on taking my basics at the Community College for a few years and then moving on to actual college. So, choosing a college is still a few years away.
Most welcomed, Ali!
@ Becca.
Thank you!!!! I'm so very glad to be in it! It took awhile, but I'm there. Thanks for reading the post! I'm hoping to write more with her soon. How have you been? Looks like Cor and Vern are will.
Yes, it took what... two months or longer? Anyway, glad you're finally writing with us! Unfortunately, you seem to have joined during a prolonged lull in writing.
Very busy, but good. The rest of the family has been the same. I think Lady A may be stopping by later....
@ Betsie. *laughs* Yes, that would have been... unfortunate if you had dubbed me Mr. Bennet. Hopefully I don't resemble Elizabeths father.
*As Cor is fond of saying: Life. Mostly the usually, helping around the castle, making sure Cor behaves himself while he's off and trying hard not to burn any of Lady A's tapestries. I still have yet to live that one down...
*
@ Daughter of the King. Welcome to the Square! My names PrinceCor or just Cor. Tis a pleasure to meet you! *bows* You seem to be fitting in well here in the Square.
@ Winter. Long time no see! Glad to know you're still alive! Hope you can start stopping by more regularly.
@ Greenleaf. Welcome back! Long time no see!!
@ Jo. Quite welcome, Jo. Glad you seem to be enjoying it.
*Perfectly alright, miss Jo. I understand that sometimes it's a bit hard to figure what a dragon will like and not like. *
Thank you, Jo! *bows*
Well, I have answered the summons... again. (BTW, I did not tell Vern about that most unfortunate typo)
-----------------------------------------
Well, I believe that covers everything. I hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend! Talk with everyone later!
*Cor and vern exit the Square*

*Lady Amalthea scoots in to the Square and parks her scooter under the chocolate tree*
I must get back to the castle to finish supervising supper preparations, but I just had to stop by.
@Miss Rosario: The tapestries sound quite lovely! I'll take a dozen - for starters. Hopefully they are flame retardant.
@Mel: The portraits you did of the Royal Family of Narnia are exquisite. Perhaps you could do the Royal Family of Archenland sometime. They would be nice to have with the new tapestries.
@Johobbit:
As for the "dead" typo, mum's the word. But I did enjoy it!
Must get back to the castle now. King Lune is bellowing, um, I mean calling for his supper.
*Lady Amalthea lingers only long enough to laden her basket with fruit from the chocolate tree. Fortunately the scooter engine has recently been modified with a turbo*
