Glenstorm, I think celiac tests are much cheaper than general allergy tests, and that you can get them at most doctor's offices. I could be wrong, though. As for my cell phone, I actually found it yesterday - nonfunctional, in the washing machine! :(( I needed to switch over to a cheaper service anyway, but it's a bummer to lose all my contacts.

sleepy grammer

I think you mean "grammar." :p (Sorry, couldn't resist!) Haha, I love that term. It's great.

I was figuring all of you would be around here last night, waiting for the trailer. I'm a workin' boy, so I had to go to bed so I could be all alert for lifeguarding today.

I ... wait! What is that? In the sky over Ditto Town!

It's swamp gas! It's a UFO! It's

... the International Space Station? :-o

(Sorry, just had to tie that in. ;)) )

Oh, Booky, you're such a naughty NarniaWebber. =)) I have to say, I was a little upset when they named Ramandu's daughter, but hey, it's better than Star Girl. Although it looks like they're reusing some of that material.... I'm fairly ambivalent about the trailer. Parts of it look AWESOME; other bits make me think they just don't "get" it.

Congrats! :) 5 years.. wow. :-o I'll be... *thinks* 20 by the time I've had 5 years on Narniaweb. :p

Thanks. :D I joined young. ;))

I don't think it's quite 90%, but there are a lot of us here. ;)

;)) Thanks for the congrats on my anniversary by the way. :D And it's great to see you around here once again!

Oooh, a very special happy [belated] fifth NarniaWeb anniversary to you, Queen Susan! (Wow, that was a mouthful of a sentence.)

;)) Thanks!! :D

Queen Susan, how was the mini-conference (which was *checks QS's post) today?! :)

It went really, really well! :D I was babysitting my niece the majority of the time--the conference was mostly about communicating in your marriage, solving conflicts, etc. So the majority of people there were married. I was the only minor (hehe) there, minus two babies. ;)) I "sneaked in" and listened to some of it though. ;)

Haha! That's great about my parents!! =)) I trust after seeing there profile pictures you realized they were my parents and not sibs?

Hehe, yeah pretty much. ;)) It took me a little while. :p Your dad doesn't always have himself in his profile pic I don't think. And from the little thumbnail of your Mom, I still thought she was your sister. ;)) I think I realized when I looked through your birthday album. :p

Ooh, happy belated birthday, Glenstorm!! :D

Betsie: Hello. I shall not scare you by screaming in ecstasy. ;)) But it's so dreadfully nice to see you here again!! :D Convince Destined to come when she has time. ;) Ooh, may I see the cover for your book?? I don't believe I have yet...

Aw, I'm sorry you were sick, Miss Rosa. :(

I agree; I might get bugged if I got that many comments. Unless, of course, I was as funny as him; or as popular!

;)) Yeah, really. :p I read something about a new album--do you know when that's coming out? :) (Josh Groban)

Hey ho on this Voyage Trailer Day! :D I'm pretty much of the same opinion as lys when he said that some scenes were simply right on (Dufflepuds, the ship herself, the Magician's library, the sea of lilies ♥ ... ), but other parts I went :-o and almost keeled over. December 10th will tell the true tale. Overall, though, I'm more pleased about this film from the trailer than I was for Prince Caspian. And I like the brightness and colouring of it.

But now, back a couple of pages for a quick ketchup:

Granted, it's even worse in the theatrical cut where the Witch King says "I will break him" and nothing... ever... comes of his threat. :p

*whispers to Jo to checkout Star Trek II and Legends of the Fall by Horner*

Yes, that silly part in the theatrical film was just ... dumb, when the threat goes absolutely nowhere. :P

Okay. *marks down those two soundtracks* :)

Ooh, my humblest apologies Vern. A bit too much protein there, hmm? Okay, how about this tasty feast? :D Better for the digestive system, I trust? And this way you get a turkey and your veggies in one go. ;))

Yes, I have read about Shore scoring the new Twilight film, keeping regular touch with Mr. Shore's shadow, Doug Adams' blog. His book on the music of The Lord of the Rings is to release sometime this year ... a long-anticipated release!

@ Jo, again. I'm here! I'm here!! Life happened, so that's why I'm late. At least, that's my excuse.

No worries, whatsoever. As cep wisely says "Life happens". Just wanted to let you know you were missed.

*belatedly wishes Aiden/NN a wonderful vacation*

And GtG, even though I sent wishes to you elsewhere, I now declare publicly that *stand up straight and does a little jig* I hope you had a very wonderful birthday! :D

Hehe, that's funny, considering Michael is Canadian. ;) For sharing a name, we don't have same taste, which is most saddening! When I think Keira, I think Val, so that's why I like Keira, I guess.

I don't necessarily like all 33 million Canadians. :)) And just to clarify: I still like Val, even though I don't care for Keira. ;) Well, at least we have the same taste in first names! At least, our parents did! B-)

stargazer, were you able to stay up to see that ISS pass?

Bella, I also recommend the heavens-above.com. Every week we track both the ISS and the Iridium flares. Such fun to see in the night sky! Although there has been quite a dirth of them for awhile now and I miss 'em.

*chuckles at Bella's and stargazer's late night conversation* ;)) I was on the forum then, but didn't think of popping in the Square.

Bella, there are Lion Parties held all around the world. Last time we had one in Erie, PA ... a grand time. :) We went out for dinner first (the Olive Garden ♥), then saw PC all together. I think there were about twelve of us. I hope there is one near where you live. Or ... consider planning one of your own. Maybe you have some NWebbers living close, and neither of you know it yet. :D

RuralNarniaFan, great to see you again! How have you been keeping?

:)) at Booky's and lys' Lilliandil funnies! Except that this looks more like a flare than the ISS. ;))

Sounds like a very beneficial and positive conference, Queen Susan. :) And ... how old's your niece?

*chuckles affectionately at how QS thought the King and Lady were PC's siblings* ;)) That is a great honour for KL and Lady A, to be sure. They just became 30 years younger!

A huge WAVE to everyone else. Even though this isn't very short, I barely skimmed, so apologize if I missed something directed to me.

and cheers for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader!

*stumbles into the Square* - Hey, I was up till almost 4 this morning. ;))

...the International Space Station?

Wise guy! ;) It looks like the Nova of 1054. ;))

Yes, jo, I did get to see a little bit of the ISS pass. The sky was about 80% filled with clouds but I saw the best parts of the pass through a small clearing.

I agree with many of the other opinions expressed about the trailer...some parts (especially the Dawn Treader painting) seemed a little rough, but other parts, like the actual ship, the Magician's library, and the duffers were much better. The sea of lilies especially was my favorite.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Mortereve, all!

Well, I finally had the chance to see the trailer this afternoon! I love the ship and the sea of lilies (as well as the dufflepuds! They cracked me up.). I'll wait for more, though, before I get too excited or upset. ;))

I'm also feeling better today. :) Yesterday (as well as Tuesday) weren't fun, but... that's all behind me now. And besides, I got to re-watch National Treasure II while on the sofa. ;) Fun stuff.

"The fire alarm's gone off."
"Uh-oh. God save the Queen!"

How nice, Jojo! We have our own vegetable garden and raspberry patch (as well as some wild blackberries in the woods), but strawberries surpass all of that by far. Ah well. We have good U-Pick farms nearby, so it's not too terrible. And besides... boxes and boxes of 'em are in the fridge at the moment. ;)

Hmm, and what happened to that story you were so eager to share? ;))

Good point, Mel. The one woman had a slight advantage, though... she had attended one of his concerts two or three weeks earlier. ;))

And thank-you! I still feel a bit dizzy when standing. Aside from losing seven-ish pounds, however, no harm was done. :)

And MissRosario, that's too bad about your being sick. But -better out than in? Sorry that's not entirely helpful. ;)

Well, helpful or not... it gave me a laugh. Which was quite nice after being in bed for over 48 hours. :D ;))

(Dear, when did you all get me to start using this terrible pun? I was against it for so long ... and now I've crossed over to the dark side!)

Shame, shame. ;)

And you have my admiration, those of you who actually stayed up to await the VotD trailer. I, for one, was comfortably in bed. ;)) Staying up until 2:00 didn't particularly strike me as appealing.

*waves to RNF* Hullo, it's great that you could drop in! It's been awhile... long time, no see! And I've been doing pretty well, thanks. Yourself? Life going well?

*would love to attend a lion party as well* Anyone nearby in Michigan? ;)) Heh.

*waves to everyone not mentioned* Annnnnnd, I'm heading out. Mortereve, all!

You thought the painting seemed a little rough, gazer? Do you mean purely from a CGI perspective? Because other than that, I thought that scene looked great! :D My opinion of it as a whole has improved upon subsequent viewings ... right now the thing I'm most concerned about is the whole Ramandu's daughter/Star Girl thing. Otherwise, I'm fairly content with the trailer.

THE TRAILER IS OUT! m/
So over all I was really excited about it though a few things I was kind of wondering about...
The white witch talking to Edmund and then Edmund with the glowing sword and then that one lady that is glowing.....
Edit: Okay so when the white witch is talking to Edmund looks like it is in the dark island so I'm not confused about that anymore.

Okay I need to catchup!

Hiya, Ben! Aye, the "Tales before Narnia" is very good. It's a bunch of writing that influenced Lewis. =]

I'll have to check it out!

lol we always have something to talk write about ;)) .

Yeah! lol

ooh, hard question! Either ice cream or these delicious pumpkin gooey cake bars we make every thanksgiving :D .

Ice cream is good! Pumpkin gooey things? Sounds kind of good....

not til you posted that! Eeeepppp!!! Now to convince my parents to let me stay up that late ;)

I stayed up still 12 o'clock then i realized that it was PST instead of EST! I was soooooooo disappointed! I would have had to stay up till 3, and I had to work in the morning! So I just watched it when I got up this morning! w did you like it? Ho

you should read it :) .

yeah... :(

A sequel? I haven't heard of that...I'll have to look it up :p .

I'll have to check it out next time I have an opening for a book ;))

Yes you will need to... Then tell me about it :P

I am Liliandapalooza! I come upon you ploddy mortals with my neon star glow of doom! I bring unto you great tidings of fearful knowledge! Want to hear them? Huh? Huh? Huh?! Okeydokey!

kthxbai!

Okay who is that lady? That was one thing that really threw me off in the trailer!

*goes off to watch the trailer again*

Edit: So Susan is supposed to be more beautiful than Lucy? Well I must say that Lucy is a lot more beautiful!

Good to hear you caught a bit of the ISS pass, stargazer. It's fun trying to catch it between clouds.

I was noticing the same thing about the painting, 'gazer. It seems a bit unfinished as yet (yes, lys, from a CGI perspective, imo, because you're right, that entire scene, itself, was so excellent). Glad they have another few months to clean things up. Whew, how are we going to wait for December 10th?!
*still get the goosebumps every time she thinks of the sea of lilies, for it's straight from the book* :D

Hurrah, Louise the First, about seeing the trailer! We sure seem to all agree on the things we like ... and, on the other hand, what we're wondering/puzzled about.

I'm so glad you're feeling better now! It was possibly that National Treasure movie that helped, you know. ;)) Wow, you lost seven-ish pounds? That's a fair bit. *wouldn't mind losing that, herself* ;)

*would love to attend a lion party as well* Anyone nearby in Michigan?

Well, we're hoping there will be one in that general area, Louise. :D/ There are a number of members that could possibly attend ... from Ohio, Michigan, Ontario. :D Wouldn't that just be awesome?! Come fall, we'll begin getting down to business about planning one.

Hello, Ben. You're not alone: a lot of us are wondering about the White Witch being in this film at all (grrrr), as well as the glowing sword ("and it's times like that, Frodo, my lad, when you have to be extra careful"). ;)) If they feel they have to continue using the WW in the films (another 'grrrr'), then if they restrict her to the Dark Island, I guess I can handle that (barely), but if they bring her elsewhere into the voyage, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. :p

That glowing lady is Lilliandil, Ramandu's daughter. It appears the filmmakers may have expanded her role, somewhat, from the book. (Wup, lys answered you already.)

Yeah, that 'weirder and weirder' line of Eustace's is the best. ;)) And I can't wait to see more of the Dufflepuds. "That's right, Chief, that's right: you couldn't have put it better. Anyone can see that." :))

Awww, Queen Susan, how sweet. *dearly loves babies*

But I've had to take second glances a LOT of times, to see who was posting.

Yeah ;)) no kidding!

So, good weekend to all! to you dear SquareOnions.

EDIT: *waves cheerily to Fanny, who just posted below her* You must be getting so excited for your trip! :D

Good Mortereve all! I hope you each have been well, I most certainly have been. :) I've been somewhat busy packing for our trip, so I apologise if I've missed anybody who said anything to me in the previous posts.

*waves to Fanny* How are you?

I am well, thank you! And yourself? How are things for you?

FF, I like quiet summers too...a nice quiet break from school! :p Are you out of school yet?

Heh, yes! :) I am indeed out of school, and you?

We've started Season 3. Where are you guys?

Our next episode is Episode 14, on disc 2. Where are you?

*sends a Ruby's way* It sounds like you have been having a somewhat eventful time, is your bathroom all fixed up and such? Cold showers are not fun. At all. >_> ;))

Right now I'm reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. It's the first Austen I've ever read, though I've seen a lot of the adaptions on film. I'm really loving it and hope to read more of her work this summer. Also, I'm hoping to read a book called A Severe Mercy soon. I can't remember the author's name, but I know that he was a friend of C.S. Lewis' and some of Lewis' letters are in the book. And I've heard really good recommendations for the book, so I'm looking forward to it. :)

Hurray! :) I'm so glad you're enjoying Mansfield Park, it is a wonderful bit of Austen's work, eh? :) I especially like Fanny Price, she's a good person to emulate, me thinks. :) Will you let me know how A Severe Mercy is? I have that one sitting on my shelf as of yet unread, so your thoughts on the book would indeed be most appreciated! :)

For mission work, I'm going to be helping with a couple of childrens' Vacation Bible Schools and then our youth group usually goes door-to-door and talks to people/asks them questions about faith and life and what they believe about God and we hand them pamphlets and stuff about our church. I really love working with younger kids, so I'm looking forward to it. :)

That sounds like it will be a wonderful and fulfilling time! :) Have you started any of that yet? If so, how has it gone? :) I hope it goes immensley well and is fruitful! :)

Thank you so much for your prayers! Do you have any plans for the summer?

You're welcome! :) I do have a few plans- I'm leaving with my Mom, sister, and Aunt for a trip to the States shortly, in which we shall visit friends and have fun, I hope. ;) It should be fun! :) Other than that, I don't have much, I'll probably be working quite a bit, but I like that, so it's all rather good. :)

Fanny: Thank you, I did pretty well on my finals overall. :) And ohhhhh yes. I'm SO happy to have that splint off!! I wanted to have a huge ceremony and bury it outside in the backyard, but I figured that wasn't really wise... in case I needed it again. ;)) So I have some exercises to do for my thumb, and it's already feeling much better. :) I have that string workshop coming up next week from Sunday through Thursday, so I'm excited!

Hurray! :) That is good about your finals results, yes indeed! :) And even better about the splint- I think a huge ceremony (complete with mournful music) would be a wonderful way to say goodbye to your dear (*cough cough*) splint...mayhaps you could always bury it later, when you're sure you won't need it or something. ;) How did your string workshop go? :) :)

Not as soon as I'd like, but yeah, 3 more weeks. :) And the next 3 weeks won't be very work-centric. :p

That's always good! ;) It must be even less than three weeks now, I take it? :) I hope all is well for you!

*waves with great pomp to none but Fanny* How've you been faring? I hope well! Victoria Day does sound interesting! I'm not sure when this was posted, but I had read some of what you and your siblings did last year-- how perfectly delightful! Did you dress up quite Victorian? :)

Bella, how farest thou? :) *waves with pomp back at Bella* I have been faring beautifully, thank you! :) We tried our best to dress up Victorian, although now that I think of it we probably ended up more Edwardian than Victorian, but no matter, Edwardian is just as cool. :D Alas this year we didn't do much in that way, maybe next year. :)

Yes, we probably had 80-100 guests! :D Quite a few aunts and uncles from my Dad's side, and then a ton of friends from church and our old church and various other places. ;))
The fabric I got is blue for one skirt, and brown with a bit of red raspberries or something for the other one. ;)) Right now I'm still trying to finish up a green blouse though. ;))
Anything new? :)

Hehe, wow! That's quite a few, eh? Did it go well, all in all? (I rather forget if I've asked that already)

It sounds like all your sewing projects are lovely! :) :) I hope they are going well?

Hmm, what's new here. Well... the weather has been nice, we have some small repairs to be done in our upstairs bathroom, and I've been enjoying the summer so far. You? :)

And with that, I'm off. Cheers all! :)

Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,

*Two familiar figures enter the Square discussing the new VDT trailer while also commenting on the weather....*

Mortereve all! Tis been quite hot and humid in Archenland as of late.... #:-s It's times like these when you're greatfull for having so many lakes nearby.

*Speaking of water, you know the Ditto Pool has not been opened yet.... *

Oh yes! We have a pool in the Square! I completely forgot about that. #-o Well, how about we open the pool, eh Vern? ;)

*Sounds like a plan....*

*Cor and Vern work for several minutes cleaning the pool, starting the water pump.... and waiting.*

20 minutes later

It's done!! :D *clears throat* By the power invested in me by myself, I hereby declare this pool.... open!!! :D :D

*the Prince, being the Fine Lad That He Is, takes it upon himself to test the pool out first. For safety reasons, you know.*

Ahhh, a pool feels soooo good today.... B-) Alright, now for catching-up! *borrows some of the ketchup from Lys*

-------------------------

@ AC. Well, I thought you would have figured it out.... sooner. ;) :p

*twiddles* Soo, what have you been up to as of late? :)

@ Becca. Congrats on joining UI!! :D :D/ *reads Becca's first post* Very good introduction. Sounds like an interesting character. :)

@ StudyMate. Heh, don't worry. You're not the first person to think Vern was a different color. ;)) Most people seem to assume that he is green for reason. :-??

@ Betsie. Greetings and welcome back, friend of Destined's who bestows nicknames!! :D Hope you can stop by again soon!

@ NN. Hehe, yeah. Oh well, I'm glad it was helpful at least. :)

@ Mel. Great! Glad you enjoyed your first trip to a Cracker Barrel! :-bd KingLune and Lady A recently went to the Bulgy Bears Cracker Barrel without me.... granted, I was at my cousins, but still. [-(

@ Ali. *waves* I'm doing very well, staying busy with preparing for attending the jr college in the fall plus other odds and ends around the house.

Also.... HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!! :D :D/ :D

@ Lys. *reads over his friends soundtrack list* Good list there! Granted, I'm more partial to my own list, but anyway.... :p BTW, have you been able to listen to all three LotR scores yet? If I remember correctly, the last time you were here you had not heard them all. Granted, I may be completely off...

Glad you're doing better now!

@ Booky. =)) That was a GREAT random post!! You could have added "It's a Bad Moon Rising!" ;) =))

@ QueenSusan. Yeah, Dad usually has a picture of James Stewart as his profile picture. I go for soundtrack covers. :p

Well, glad you finally realized they were my parents.

@ Jo. Yes, It really seemed out-of-place in the film. :-

Let me know what you think of those two whenever you get a chance to hear them! :D

*Too much protein and stingers. :| Vern graciously accepts the replacement treat. Hmm, you don't see one of these everyday. :p Thank you most kindly, miss Jo!! :D *

Drat! I thought I knew something about Mr. Howard that you didn't! :(( ;) I'm actually quite excited for the Eclipse score to come out. Sounds really good from what I've heard! Several of the tracks sound like LotR, which is to be expected. :p

Well, I was going to post yesterday, but I lost my post.... :-s So, now I'm back. :)

*waves to Ben, Fanny and Rose*

@ Rose. I hope you're feeling better now!

On the subject of the VDT trailer: I neither love the trailer nor despise it. It served it purposes, gave us a bunch of random scenes to speculate over and raised some questions about the adaptation. For me, I'll hold on judging the film until I've seen it. I really don't see any reason to jump to conclusions on the adaptation based entirely on the teaser trailer... /:)

----------------------------------

Well, I think that gets everything for me. Time to go and listen to Legend. B-)

Talk with ya'll later!

That was Ramandu's Daughter, Ben. And I think the issue is not whether or not Susan is more beautiful than Lucy, but that Lucy thinks Susan is.

Oh okay. I just think that maybe that was too much of a glow...
Yeah that is true... Did not think about it from that perspective! It's good to have people to talk about it with so they can point stuff like that out ;)) .

lol that is what I thought of ;)) (Frodo's sword; sting) .
I think I can bear it if they just have her in the dark island but anywhere else... WATCH OUT, I WILL BE GOING STRAIGHT TO THAT DIRECTOR! ;) lol.

I figured maybe it was her but I think that they made her glow a little too much /:) .

Good mort'reve, all! :) How has this Friday been for you so far? :)

It is hot, hot, hot here! :-o We've had upper 90s this whole week, and we're only halfway through June! :(( (<---sweating, distressed face) Other than that, there's not too much going on. We had my graduation party a few days ago, which was a lovely time, with all sorts of dear people I hadn't seen in forever. :) It's really sad that it takes your graduation, wedding, or funeral to bring everyone you care about together. And you don't even get to attend the funeral. :( ;))

*decides to dunk her feet in the Pool while she ketchups and waits for the VDT trailer to load*

I love milkshakes ... vanilla only, though.

Have you ever had a peach milkshake? They are AMAZING. =p~ Vanilla used to be my favorite, then I tried the peach, and now I'm forever spoiled. ;))

Aww, what a lovely list of 'm' adjectives! I suppose I was more thinking of all the adjectives that start with 'mal'. I feel very cheered up now! :D

Pardons if I have asked this already, but are you in high school or post-secondary?

I don't believe you've asked it, so no worries! :) I'm newly graduated from high school and homeschool. :D

I did not know this. I am right-handed, as are most in my family, but my mom and our youngest son is *gasp* left-handed. Well, mom is 82 this year, so ... prove the stats wrong, mom!

Good for your mom! :) My grandfather was also left-handed, and nearly eighty when he passed away. So I have to think the statistic is a bit skewed (since lefties are a minority, the averages can't be even, can they?)
At the least, it must be because left-handed people live such full lives. ;)

My mom bought me some homeopathic allergy medication and it's been helping. Last year I took Benadryl but it just completely wipes me out and I'm way too tired to do anything.

I'm glad to hear that! :)
And I know what you mean! Benedryl should really be marketed as a sleeping aid, instead of for allergies. ;))

THREE?!?! ;))

I was originally going to make you choose one! :p You should consider yourself lucky! ;))

ditto, minus the "m" adjectives, seeing as mine would start with "a" or "g"

Alrighty, your turn! ;) I chose 'a'.

Why, yes I do. Here 'tis. You'll have to scroll down a bit, but also included is a view of a Mycenaen cistern and Sounisian t-shirts.

Thank you muchly! :D And what a gorgeous picture! As I said, I wasn't picturing that when I first read it, but it's perfect! I'm re-imagining all sorts of Costis/Gen/Attolia scenes now...

I wonder what her ideas of Eddis and Sounis are?

I do so like Phillips, Craig and Dean.

Ditto. Their version of "In Christ Alone" is pure gloriousness. :D

What ho! How wonderful! When do you start? What will you be doing? Do tell us all!

Well, for the past week, I've been mostly working the dining room (keeping everything clean and well-stocked, taking trays) and being trained at the front registers. No cooking of the food, thank goodness. ;)) And then yesterday, I worked at a register solo for the first time! :D Which was so fun, but rather nerve-wracking (I messed up a lot of poor people's orders at first). And I think I need to grow a few more arms in order to handle the lunch rush. :p

I work in a family run restaurant, so, erm, I guess it's kind of independent? It's not like a Tim Hortons, or a Wendy's, or a Chick-fil-a. Yes ma'am, we each get unique and customisable badges.

Ah, I see! :) I think those private, family-owned restaurants tend, overall, to have better standards and quality than fast-food (with a few exceptions). So it's really neat that you work in one! :D Do you serve a certain style of food, or a little bit of everything?

The other one I saw was the 2007 one. Which is alright, but not the best. I'd dearly, and honestly, love to make a four part mini-series of Mansfield Park, do it rightly. Just think- if I did it with a team of devoted Christian filmmakers, we could really get Austen's themes, especially the Christian ones, right! That would be really cool. Alas, I'm not planning on being a filmmaker

Oh, oh! Would you please do it? (and would you let me be a fellow producer? ;) ) MP is so desperately in need of an excellent adaptation. The other versions always make me feel like the producers were rather afraid of MP (which then brings up the question, why make it at all?) And just imagine if it could be made by people who for once, don't think that Austen needs to be "modernized"! :D

I recall liking the main ones, although I must admit it's been a while so I can't really give a detailed review of my thoughts on them. I didn't quite like the Crawfords though. More so the actors they chose than how their characters were written. What about you?

I don't remember really liking anyone, but with the exception of Fanny and Mr. Crawford, I do think it was the actors' portrayal rather than the actual script. However, I didn't care for either the writing or acting of Fanny and Crawford, and it's hard to have a successful Mansfield Park without those two. ;)

*waves to the dashing Libby :-h

*waves back* HEY! Yep that is what I have been doing What have you been doing of late?

That's great! :) So is this a family business or are you doing it on your own? And I'm curious; what's the paint color you use the most? ;))
Well, I've been concentrating on getting into the swing of things at work. And I'm trying to start my summer reading! :)

Yes, I am a fan of Shannon Hale's books! I love her Books of Bayern series.
Oh, the piano recital went great, thanks for asking! I played "Return of the Lion" from Prince Caspian.
Wow, really? I didn't know that right-handed people live longer than left-handed! I guess I should consider myself lucky that I'm right-handed. What are you?

I thought so! :) I just finished reading Princess Academy and The Goose Girl and loved them both, but Goose Girl especially. That book is amazing! :D
Ah, good, I'm glad to hear that! :) That's such a beautiful piece; your recital must have been lovely! Are you working on anything now?
I'm left-handed. :-s Oh dear...

Could you lot pray that 1) I feel better and 2) I will start being more productive and on a better sleep schedule?

Praying! I hope that sleep pattern straightens out for you--and already has started to do so.

I suppose out of all those I could give Sealey Head a break and concentrate on reading all the others, but I like variety.

*gasp* Take a break from Sealey Head?? You better not. [-x ;))

How's that coming? Where are you in the book?

Great! Do you have any plans after graduation?
Yup, I finished just last Thursday. Mmmhmm, I started the year with 6 classes, but the last few weeks of school, I only have a couple. The joys of homeschooling.

Well, I'd like to study nursing, and then eventually get my master's degree as a nurse practitioner. And I'm hoping to go to a Christian university in the Midwest, but I'm waiting for some last-minute funding to come in. If it doesn't, I'll work and take some classes here and go next year! :)
Hurrah! :) What are your plans for the summer?
And ah yes, the joys of finishing while the rest of the world is doing finals. You know, we really need such encouragement, since we have no friends and never get out of the house. /:) ;))

Do you see Tim Tebow becoming the "franchise quarterback" that you didn't feel Kyle Orton could be?

That is an excellent question! Hmm, he'll have to prove he can play in the NFL first. There's too many questions surrounding his ability right now. As far as being someone who can inspire people's confidence and affection, I think he could be. So much of that "franchise quarterback" quality is in the hearts of the fans. (The fans in this region still haven't gotten over Elway.)
So, are you willing to hazard a guess as to how well the Pats will do this year? ;)

I see. I'm surprised you even started watching Season 3, but maybe you knew nothing about it when you started.
Oh yeah, that's why Allan's my favorite character.
I know a lot about Season 2 (I read all the spoilers), and even if you say something I don't know, I won't care.

Well, despite

Spoiler
Marian getting killed off
, I thought perhaps the people who made such an awesome two seasons could still be somewhat trusted. Needless to say, I was wrong. :|
I was just going to comment that
Spoiler
Guy's inner struggles intensify quite a bit. There's actually glimmers of redemption in him. Another reason the ending makes no sense--season 1 Guy might have killed Marian, but season 2 would never have.

*waves at LL and her rainbow post*

How did the graduation go? And how's your summer going thus far? Do you have any plans for the future?

It went wonderfully! :D Although it was such a surreal experience--you're walking in your cap and gown, and you can't believe any of it's happening. But it was a very personal, intimate ceremony (there were only about 25 other grads), so the families were really able to bless their students and celebrate their accomplishment.
I'd like to study nursing and eventually become a nurse practitioner. Right now I'm waiting on some scholarships that will decide whether I go to the school I've picked this year or next year. :)
My summer's going great so far, thank you! How about yours? :)

I'm not quite sure yet. In general, I'd like to pursue music, but I'm not sure yet if I've got the talent and the experience to get into any college worth going to.

That sounds really neat! Are you thinking music in general, or a specific instrument?
And don't get discouraged! I have a violinist cousin who didn't start seriously pursuing music until into his teens, but he still was able to get into a top music school. Today he's a fantastic violinist. :D I'm becoming more and more convinced that "talent" is really hard work, dedication, and a love for whatever it is one's pursuing. All of which I'm very sure you have! :)

Right now I'm reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. It's the first Austen I've ever read, though I've seen a lot of the adaptions on film. I'm really loving it and hope to read more of her work this summer.

Mansfield Park is my favorite Austen. :D I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Where are you in the story? And what's your opinion of Fanny?

May I wish a most wonderful birthday to Malkah! Hope you have a fantastic day!

Aww, thank you, Ben! I had an amazing birthday! :)

Yes, I will actually be performing the concerto in the fall. I'll be taking lessons during the summer and will hopefully be able to relearn it! And thank you! My hand has now officially healed, and the splint was removed a week or so ago.

Yay! I'm glad to hear that! :D (About both the healed hand, and the fall performance).
When you record the concerto, would you mind PMing it to me too? I'd like to hear it, if that's alright! :)

*waves to Aslans Country* Hi there! :) How's everything going?

*waves at StudyMate* I've seen you around quite a bit, but I don't believe we've met...so hello! :-h I'm malkah or Mal, whichever you prefer. :)

Hello, hello, Mal!! *throws confetti all over Mal in congratulations and hurrayitons (?) for getting a job at Chick-fil-a.* That's so neat! How are you liking it?

*twirls happily in the confetti* (Hurrayitons, hmm? I like it! ;)) ) Thank you very much! I'm loving it so far! :D Although I've already had some interesting customer encounters. Yesterday, we had someone sit in the drive-thru and say "this is to go"--FOUR times. /:)

*skims*

No, no pool dunkings or fountain dunkings. Granted, we could start one if you wanted..... Kidding!

I pass. ;)) Forced dunkings can be rather traumatic. :-ss Besides, who knows if it might spread through the Square, thus making it impossible to ever relax in the pool again? These things are contagious. :-$

Vern, I'm extremely glad to hear that spam s'mores are not to your taste either! #:-s Although, you scared me for a moment there...

In order, probably:
1. Merlin
2. The old wizard (can't think of his name)
3. Morgana (that's the name of the princess, right?)
I don't really care for Arthur or Gwenevier (SP?) all that much. The dragon is an interesting (if underused) character.

Same here! :) Merlin's such a lovable, heroic goofball.
If you've only seen a few episodes, I can definitely understand you not liking Arthur. He is, to quote Merlin, "a royal prat" for much of season 1.
How would you like to see more of the dragon? I'd like to see an expanded role for him as well, but since he's attached to a chain underground, his usage is a bit limited. :p

Thanks! I think I told you a while back, but anyway... I'm planning on attending the local community college in the Fall. Get my basics out of the way.

Y'know, I think you did. Sorry about that! Anyway, that's great! I know so many people who are taking the community college route--it's such a good way to work towards where you want to go (and save money!). And you get to live at home. :D
So do you have any idea what you'd like to do eventually?

I have fantastic news. *trumpet blast* I'm really, actually, and FINALLY going to a Joshua Bell concert!!! July 13th is the day, and it will be held in Chicago. Major, major outbursts of excitement and insanity are in store.

Oh. My. Goodness. He is brilliant. :D That is unbelievably awesome that you get to go! I'd love to hear all about it when you do! (It'll ease the jealousy. ;)) )

*waves to Sonny and ceppault*

For months now I've tried to find a photo of actual square onions, but can't. The only thing that pops up is square watermelons.

Aaaand...square peas. :D B-)

*waves to Jojo*! 'Ello! It's good to see you around again! :) Re Michael Buble: I'm a growing fan. ;) It took me quite a while to warm to him, since I'm not a Frank Sinatra fan at all. But Michael's music, despite being the same style, is just such catchy, hum-over-and-over fun. "I just haven't met you-uu yet!"

Ah yes, now that NaNo is over, all the fun chats in the chat room are over too... Until November. I suppose they don't have to be over--but you can't go on expecting other people there most times.

I think what I loved most was being able to get on at almost any time and chat. I could go in there after midnight, and there'd still be people up writing. ;)) I miss that!

I thought the cinematography was utterly astounding! I'd say it'd be worth the watch--in theaters you get the huge big screen with HD, etc... but I don't know if you'd want to spend that much money on it either. So-worth watching, yes. That much money? Maybe not. But then you don't get the big screen...

Hmm, maybe I'll see if it's still in one of the dollar theaters here. That sounds like a good compromise. ;)
By the way, did you ever see Earth when it was in theaters?

Re: Robin Hood: I think the...unusual name for the uploads is so no one else tries to take them down. ;)) I can't answer for their taste in names, though. ;)) Anyways, hope you enjoy whenever you're able to watch them!
And happy many-days-late-five-year-anniversary! :D ;))

Running out of time, so I'll have to skip the last two pages, but some quick thoughts on the trailer: I thought it might be much worse. ;) The look of the movie is absolutely gorgeous, and there's some bits that make my little VDT-book-loving heart dance (the painting! the Dufflepuds! :D ) As for the not-so-Dark Island and Earendil--excuse me, Lilliandil--I'm going to try and squelch my panic until December. :-ss Surely it looks much worse than it is. Still, I'm more excited than I was after seeing the PC trailer!

*sends a wave to everyone* Have a good mortereve and a wonderful weekend!

*reluctantly pulls her toes out of the pool and heads out*
