You think that's a lot?! There once was a time when 50 pages would go by... in two days! Thank goodness those days are over, or I would never come in here!

Yes, I have read about that era in brief, over in the blaghafer (?) thread.. from the sounds of it, I'm glad I got here when I did. :)

No! Using quotes is the best way to keep up with a conversation! Not to mention the "long posts" are the best kind... they are the ones with substance! GO SUBSTANCE!

Well, if you insist ;) But you see.. when I see the short-quote-short-reply pattern repeated over and over again, I start to think that my posts are in fact lacking substance. :p Just kidding..

*read about the VBS* glad to hear you had a good time. :)

me too . But I watched The Karate Kid last night (the original) and it was pretty good. Have you seen it?

*recalls that name vaguely from somewhere out of her distant memory*
Sorry, no.. you should probably head over to Princess Anna's ecstatic reply on the next page, which you probably already did, and.. I'm too lazy to check, so I'll leave it at that. ;)

*reminds Ali to minus the "ing" when -ing. :p *

I am so hyper-ly excited!!! I wil DIE when I see the trailer!

No!!! Then you won't be able to watch the movie. :(( :(( Prolong your death until that moment at least, please. :p

*waves to Kathy* I don't know that we've ever officially met, but I've seen you around. :) *shakes hand*

*returns hand-shake*

The same to you. :) It's always easy to spot the colourful posts. ;)

*sees this above Lady Liln's greeting and panics*

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask you what you think of the news about Del Toro dropping out of The Hobbit. Have they gotten a replacement?

:-o :-o He dropped out?! I haven't been keeping up with the progress of The Hobbit at all, but.. it does seem like, will the movie ever get made? :p

Kathy, from what I remember the book Cheaper by the Dozen was a fun read. The most recent movie adaptation had 12 kids—and that's about as close as it got.

So I've heard. :p I think the people that made it admitted that themselves. *reminds self for the billionth time to get hands on the book*

So, who all is going to be online Thursday around noon for the Voyage trailer?

Well.. considering that it'll be 1 o'clock in the morning.. I think most likely not. :p :(( I will watch in numerous times before heading out to school, though.

@ AC. Yep, Vern's a dragon. *tells AC there is no reason to hide in a corner, Vern is a non-human eating dragon*

*returns from the corner at long last* Why didn't you let me know sooner? ;)

Well, the weekend is almost over here. Two weeks of the term to go!

*leaves*

EDIT
*returns hastily 2 minutes later*
Today is GTG's birthday?! Happy Birthday Ali!

*leaves again* :p

Good Morning Mortereve all! How are you all doing this fine Sunday?

I thought I would pop in here before I went to church so here I am :)

I am so hyper-ly excited!!! I wil DIE when I see the trailer :D :D :D :p !

If you are speaking of the VOTD trailer. I'm pretty excited about it myself! m/

well it is the family iPod but I call it mine b/c I use it the most and most of the music on it is mine :p . I just have a classic, but I might buy my own Nano soon...Do you have one?

Oh I see ;))
I have a classic also; black , 80 GB

yeah I've written a few songs :) . I play piano, and I used to play violin. I'm also teaching myself guitar, and taking some voice lessons :) . Do you play any instruments?

That is really cool!
Well I like playing the piano, and I can play a few chords on the guitar... So yeah :)

*likes to see a very colorful post back in the square!*

Ben, that's fine that you only read one book at a time; most of my family's like that. My point was that reading more then one at the same time doesn't indicate that one prefers either book over the other. :)

Ohhhh okay :)

Ben, glad you enjoyed P&P!

Thanks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Ali! Hope you are having a great day!

See you all later!

Mortereve, all!

All-right, Louise, I shall. In fact, I'll even drop by the library this week TOMORROW and see if it's in. *makes a mental note* Thr3e, then the Attolian series, then LotR...

And yes, Joshua Bell does appear fairly young-ish for his age. ;) I think that recording was from a little while ago, but... he still looks younger than forty-something. As for meeting him at the concert, well... that would be a dream come true! I don't know what the likelihood of that actually happening is, though.

I like how he plays with such emotion.

Mhmm, he plays with so much expression (which is another reason I love his music). He also has a four million dollar violin, which helps a lot. ;))

And thank-you! No, I don't think there is a certain age limit on the music camp. A lot of my friends didn't come back this year, and the ones who did probably won't be there next year. So... I just decided this would be my last time going.

Happy birthday, Glenstorm!

Good mortereve, SquareOnions!

First of all, a very happy birthday to Glenstorm! Hope you have a wonderful day. :)

I like your avatar, Benjamin - Uncle Iroh is one of my favorite characters from that series...I should really dig out some of my graphics from that show to use here on the forum, though I've become rather attached to my avvy of a young CS Lewis. ;))

Are you a fan of The Last Airbender as well? Are you looking forward to the movie coming out next month?

I have some writing to do (the Ditto Story among other things), so I'll pass on doing an extensive ketchup post for now - but I've enjoyed reading the latest posts. *waves to all*

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

This place goes so fast! I wonder how you get involved in the scheme of things... ;)) .

Well, since I don't have anything to catch up on I'll suppose I'll just say, Hi. Todays been a pretty good Sunday. ;) We got home from church around noon, and it was extremely muggy and sticky outside. We've been having a really warm spring here in Illinois. But now it's storming! Haha! What a change. It's cooler now though and much more bearable.

I'm rather excited for at least three reasons! :D

1.) The VOTD trailer is coming on Thursday!! Gosh, it can't come fast enough. Finally a glimpse of my most anticipated movie! I freaked yesterday when the announcement came and kinda hurt my neck. :p But it's going to be great. Screencaps for graphics.....and some footage to make me even more excited for December!

2.) The newest episode of Merlin is coming on, on Friday! Me and my brother are just beginning to get into the series....but we love it already. :) The last episode was really funny, and we saw the small sneak peek for Friday's. It looks action packed. I know there is a few other Merlin fans here on NW too. ;) I can't wait for the episode, and my brother is itching for it too

3.) I just got accepted into the RP Unilluminated!! :D I'm really excited to finally get to write with all the other members, and enjoy the story with me own characters and their interactions with others. I'm happy to be in it!

Hmmmm.....I'm not sure if I have much to say to any one accept, have a good mortereve. (Morning, Afternoon, or night) Oh and Happy Birthday Glenstorm the Great! I hope your having a good day!

See you later!

‘Ello everyone :) (sorry, I’m in a bit of a Mary-Poppins-is-coming-to-theatres-soon-mood)

I saw you did a whole post with just bolding names in the quotes and thought you might not know since it change when we switched to this forum. [/rambling]

Oh thanks for rambling! The quote thing was frustrating me because I thought I was using the right code and it just wasn’t working on my browser or something. I was omitting the quotation marks, oops. You’ve saved me a lot of time, haha thanks! P.s. I have seen you around as well, nice to officially meet though (and be given my own colour)! :D

My cousin just headed out on a two/three-week trip there. I'm so jealous!

How exciting; do you know whereabouts they’re headed? :)

And I might have thought being Australian was possibly relatively cool; until that soccer match between Australia and Germany last night. Shocking! ;))

Interesting video, Matette. Thanks for the link. 'Twas good to hear Canada said "NO" to this.

No worries. :) I was really shocked when I first watched it. I think we only said ‘no’ to that hormone in 06. But most European countries never allowed it at all. And I can’t remember now who mentioned it (edit: Glenstorm :D ), but the thing with cow’s milk is not just the manufacturing process; it’s the steroids and hormones and antibiotics they give cows that gets passed into their milk, and consequently into our bodies that is linked with all kinds of sickness and disease. :-o

(And thanks for letting me know about the chocolate tree; here’s hoping it’s of the Swiss variety ;)) ). As for Cor eating it all; I s'pose I can live with that, exam time means not much eating or sleeping for me (I've already lost 3kgs and gained under eye circles). :-s ;))

As for exams, I only have two more to go; but a 3.5 hour exam is pretty intense. :P

@Cor: thanks for letting me know that Vern is ‘earth coloured’. Here I was thinking he was bright pink with green spots. ;))

*waves back to stargazer* :-h

Happy and Most Joyous Day of Birth, Glenstorm! Hope you have a swell day. :D

And I hope everyone is having a nice evening, morning, or night :)

Good Mortereve, everyone :) (do people even say the 'good' part? :p )

I think the rainy season has started for real in Japan now, so.. goodbye sunny days and dry weather for about a month and a half. :(( I finally get out of school and all it'll be doing will be raining. :( :p

So, yesterday, I suddenly decided I wanted to learn how to play my mum's violin :p and had a little lesson. ;)) It was actually fun, although I doubt I'll have any patience at all to keep it up. Not to mention that my mum's violin is so old and unused that it goes out of tune every 5 mins. 8-| ;)

Anyway..

*waves to: Ben, Miss R, stargazer, lover of narnia, Libby and Mattete*

I don't think I've ever talked to you before, lover of narnia. So hi. :) I've had the pleasure of using your graphics a couple of times though - you make awesome ones, if I may say so. ;)

I can't wait for the trailer either B-) (I don't really get the point of this smiley so I just use it at random times), even though I have a feeling it won't actually show that much. Still, any footage at all is awesome. 4 days! :D

As for exams, I only have two more to go; but a 3.5 hour exam is pretty intense.

Wow.. :-o Hope it goes well.

The thing about living in Japan is, there's hardly ever anyone online at the same time as you. I'm practically always the only registered user on the main page.
Ah well. :p

Have a good day, everyone. (*)

Hey, everybody! The last time I posted here was—a long time ago. Before Easter. But now that school is out, I mean to post more regularly!

So greetings, all my old friends, and those who may some day be new friends! What's up? How have you been? What are you reading? (That's my favorite question, in case you hadn't noticed yet...) I: finished school; am doing tolerably well for the (maybe) 90th day since I saw sunlight (I love rain, but I think I have had Too Much); and am reading Start Here, the sequel to Do Hard Things.

In other news, I sent my NaNoWriMo story, with a perfectly beautiful cover that Djaq made, to the publisher, and my proof copy should be arriving soon! (I can't wait.)

I'm glad to be back! I'll talk to y'all soon! *waves to one and all*

Mortereve all!

meep so I didn't get to watch it last night b/c my sisters didn't do their school and they wouldnt' let me watch it without them :| :(( . Oh well, hopefully tonight I'll get to watch some...

Aw, that stinks. Well, let me know when you get to watch it.

I know a few of the things I left-off with....Aiden, how'd your play go?? Was it a whopping success?? I was going to be soooooooo excited 'cause we almost had the opportunity to be in a play this summer, but after going to a few of the practices, we decided that the other people we'd be working with were not the kind of folks we wanted to be around, and the directer was very strange and not authoritative enough. I dunno, anyway, we decided against it. The search for a good playhouse still goes on!!

Jojo!!! Yes, the play was absolutely a whopping success. ;)) It's a shame you came so close to being in a play, but, like you said, it was best you decided against it.

*waves to Sonny*! :)

Yep, we're still on DSL. :) We've had FiOS in the area for awhile. At the moment we can't quite afford to upgrade to it, but I know it's been considered. :) Let me know if it's as good as it claims to be if/when you get it.

Ok, same here. We've been looking forward to FiOS, and, like I said, as the deals get better and better, we're probably getting it soon. Interestingly, our church had it put in a couple weeks ago!
Alright, will do.

;)) Sorry, I don't have time to break out a thesaurus for a reply. :p And, uh, just to be clear, your sig says "eschew" which means to avoid or shun, but the above seems to indicate a preference for sesquipedalianism (use of large words). Am I confused on the meaning of one of the words? I used m-w.com to be sure. . . :p

No, no, you're right. My sig does say to avoid sesquipedalianism, but obviously it's quite ironic because it is sesquipedalian itself. So, despite advising people to eschew it, I obviously do have a preference for it. (And, I'm using Dictionary.com, FYI. :) )

Heh, you can say that again. It's always mortifying coming back to school in the fall and having forgotten everything... ;))

Ditto that!

@ NN. Yes, that he is. Still, there are several of his scores that are really good and a select few that are great. :) Ah good, glad you found it.... helpful? :-

Evidently so, since some of his are in your top 5 or 10 favorites. Yes, it was helpful, although it only expounded on what you'd already told me. ;))

*waves to Betsie* Good to see you back!

Well, we're leaving for vacation on Thursday, so depending on what has to be done between now and then, I may not be back before we leave. I believe we'll be gone for a couple weeks. Until then, mortereve all!

*agrees with Ruby that visiting Grandmothers makes them happy* And it's fun! I learned more about our family history than I'd ever learned before... though I think I was paying more attention this time.

Tehe, that was a very cute and creative post!

Yay! I can write cute! [/random] Also, you get to see Joshua Bell? Lucky! *can't remember if it was Joshua Bell or Yo-Yo Ma who performed in Grand Central Station anonymously* Okay, that was still random. ;))

jo, I don't think I've heard Go West, Young Man... *needs to remedy that, and possibly find a copy of I 2 Eye that I can listen to since the record player doesn't work at the moment*

Add Mel to this, as well. I believe she's away for a bit, but ... we miss you, Mel-y-poo!

*needs to find a similar adjective that goes with jo* I thought of one once but then I forgotted it. :(

What a pompous, cute Mother's-Day poem that is, Mel! :D

Dear me, you have picked the perfect adjective for that poem. Hehe. Very astute of you. :D

Hey, Cor, you know how you so enjoy visiting the Bulgy Bear's Cracker Barrel? Well, on the way home last night my dad and I stopped at a semi-local Cracker Barrel and the food was de-licious and the tipping point in its favour was that fact that you spoke so eloquently of your own version... ;))

*notices that GtG has had a birthday* Many happy returns of the day!

I sent my NaNoWriMo story, with a perfectly beautiful cover that Djaq made, to the publisher, and my proof copy should be arriving soon!

*is excited* I'd love to see pictures! (I was going to work on getting mine ready to send in... but then I started catching up on laundry and NWeb instead. Errr... priorities... ) How is your summer? Done any sewing? Seen any sights?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Ali! Hope you are having a great day!

Happy birthday, Glenstorm!

First of all, a very happy birthday to Glenstorm! Hope you have a wonderful day. :)

Oh and Happy Birthday Glenstorm the Great! I hope your having a good day!

Ali: happy birthday! yay!

Happy and Most Joyous Day of Birth, Glenstorm! Hope you have a swell day. :D

*notices that GtG has had a birthday* Many happy returns of the day!

Thank you all so much ! I had a great day yesterday- had a cookout with some friends and decorated to a cake. It was fun to make but not so much fun to eat (we made it with fondant which I hate, but the cake inside was good ;)) ).

Ok, I know I said I'd lurk... but once I saw that movie mentioned, I had to jump in!

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!! :D (well, duh! I grew up with it! ;)) )
The sequels too, but the first one is the best.

I'm not sure what I think of them remaking it, though. One the one hand, it looks pretty good and has Jackie Chan as the teacher. But on the other hand the warning bells go off in my head "Red alert, Red alert! Why bother messing with a classic? Isn't it best to leave well enough alone?" =))

hehe. Well the reason I saw it was b/c of the new one. I plan on watching it, hopefully in theatres. I love Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith so I know it will be awesome :D .

color=#CC66CC]Good! You definitely should read more McKillip! :p Ly can give you suggestions as to what next of hers to read. But, The Bell is easily one of her best. :D

I do plan on reading another McKillip soon! I love her writing style and Sealey Head is very interesting so I'm sure that her other books are as well :) . I will be asking Lys for some recs soon :D .

*gives a cheery hobbit wave and curtsies to GtG and Bella* (Ain't she cute? ;)))

*returns the wave* why yes she is ;)) !

So, who all is going to be online Thursday around noon for the Voyage trailer? :D/

I am! If I'm not at the movie theater :p .

*makes a note of this for when she reads her first McKillip*

oh yes read it soon! It's lovely :) .

haha yes I did :)) . So what do you want to talk about now :p ?

;))

No!!! Then you won't be able to watch the movie. :(( :(( Prolong your death until that moment at least, please. :p

oh yes I didn't think of that. I'll wait til the movie then :p .

If you are speaking of the VOTD trailer. I'm pretty excited about it myself! m/

yes that is what we are talking of. I can hardly contain myself :D :D :D ! 3 days til trailer, 178 til movie! :D

Oh I see ;))
I have a classic also; black , 80 GB

haha same! :p

That is really cool!
Well I like playing the piano, and I can play a few chords on the guitar... So yeah :)

fun! I'm really happy b/c my mom said maybe I can take a few guitar lessons from my piano teacher :D . She doesn't know very much, but she knows more than me! :p

So I watched "Tuck Everlasting" just a little while ago. Thought that is was a good movie but kind of sad! I'm not sure if I like it because of the ending ;)) .

watched that for the second time a few weeks ago. Have you read the book? The movie is better but the book is still good :) . Yes it is extremely sad. But I LOVE it (besides the ending ;) ). Everything til the end is perfectly lovely and romantic :p . I watch it every once in a great while b/c if I watch it too often I get depressed. I'm always really sad a good 2-5 after reading/watching it. Just mentioning "Tuck" or "Jesse" or "Winnie" or quoting any part of it ("I'll love you til the day I die Winnie Foster!" :(( ) makes me curl in to a ball and sob :( . But I still like it :p .

*waves to Cor* how are you? :)

Aw, that stinks. Well, let me know when you get to watch it.

Mortereve, all! Well, I'm feeling a bit sick today---which is why I'm posting. ;)) I woke up feeling weird, and by mid-morning had thrown up four times. Woo-hoo...

Anyhoo. I hope the rest of you are doing well!

I heartily agree on your excitement for the VotD trailer, Becca! It'll be so nice to finally see some clips.

And conga-rats on joining Unilluminated! I've never been part of a roleplay, though they look fun and are interesting to read.

Matette: Nah, I'm actually not sure where he's headed. Somewhere in Australia is all I know. ;))

So, yesterday, I suddenly decided I wanted to learn how to play my mum's violin and had a little lesson. It was actually fun, although I doubt I'll have any patience at all to keep it up. Not to mention that my mum's violin is so old and unused that it goes out of tune every 5 mins.

Neat! Violins are amazing instruments (of course I have a biased opinion, but whatever). ;)) And -- I totally understand about the out of tune part. Mine does that sometimes, especially after it hasn't been played for several days. :|

*waves to Betsie* Greetings and salutations to you as well! (And hurray for perhaps being able to post more regularly!) Oh, I've heard about the book Do Hard Things... never actually read it, though. Currently I've been reading several of Ted Dekker's books as well as Into Thin Air (by Jon Krakauer). I visited the library yesterday, but didn't find anything I was looking for (which was unfortunate, as I've been stuck in bed all day today with nothing better to do).

And conga-rats about sending off your NaNoWriMo story! You must feel proud.

Mel: Yup, it was Joshua Bell who performed anonymously in the Grand Central Station. That was pretty sad... only one woman recognized him. ;))

All right, that's it for now, and I'm off to bed. I hope you all have splendid mortereve. :)

Tchau!
