Oh, you can hear me as soon as I relearn the concerto and record it... several months, perhaps? (And yes, it was just the violin.) I'd be happy to, but I might prefer to do it in PM form... that way it's not shown for public view. Would that work for you?

OH!! And... I have fantastic news. *trumpet blast* I'm really, actually, and FINALLY going to a Joshua Bell concert!!! July 13th is the day, and it will be held in Chicago. Major, major outbursts of excitement and insanity are in store. :D

Oh sweet! As long as I get to hear it some time :) And yes if you send it to me by PM it should work just fine :)

Who is Joshua Bell? ;))

I never could quite master those :p . Anyway, I'm very happy b/c I might be going to a really cool festival this fall! My mom said I just have to finish one of my school books soon, which is quite a feat considering I'm not even a third of the way done with it. But I will do it to go to that festival! My favorite band is going to be there (Relient K in case anyone doesn't know by now ;) )! I haaave to go! :D

Glenstorm: Well... ;)) Sure, I guess you put it that way. But... three times in one year? Youch! You must have a pretty tender foot by now.

Well yeah. That toe now is hurt easily and a tad mis-shapen :| :p .

Congrats about that concert! I'm always psyched whenever I get to go to a concert :D .

lol I just had to use that smilie ;))

haha it's one of my faves ;)) :p

Indeed I do! :D

Mortereve, all!

Today was out of the usual. We went for a walk, stopped by the grocery store to nab a couple items for cookies (who smells Chocolate Thumbprints and Snickerdoodles (the fluffy, cinnamon cookies at the top)? :D), and walked back and had an excellent lunch, courtesy of CSLN. Let me describe it to you. ;;) The exterior was toasted white bread, next came on each a generous lather of mayonnaise (which really gave the phenomenal taste.), one one side of bread quartered slices of sliced cucumber, and on the other bread tomatoes with a little bit of salt and (I think) diced cilantro, in the middle went grilled ground beef, the littlest bit of mayo on that and then put the sammich together. It was very good, needless to say.
---

Now for my fun catchup!

So glad you liked P&P, Ben! What were your overall thoughts on it, (Like, favourite character, etc) if I make ask? :)
I've been doing mostly well lately, thanks! School is almost through in two weeks and then summer which carries along with it leisure time for reading, writing, being here more often... So, the prospect of that has kept me happy. How about you?

D'aww, I'm sorry you've been feeling down, Gtg! I hope you feel better soon. :) What are the titles of said fun books? =] Yes, reading always picks up my mood, too. I've been doing good, thank-you; finishing the last slow weeks of school and anticipating summer vacation. Reading several books, too. Do you have anything exciting planned for summer? :)

Aww, thank-you, Mattete! I do remember seeing you often on the old forum with your Belle (from BATB) embracing her books avatar, and once here, so yes, it's nice to finally meet. :) I notice your avatar is from there now, too. Is it your favourite Disney princess movie? :)
Ahaha, thanks, and yes, Winnie the Pooh is the cat's meow. :D I'm assuming you've read the books by A.A. Milne? SO witty!
Anything bad? Far from, far from, m'dear! (not meaning far from being far from... :P )

Good to know I've been noticed, Aslan's Country!... :P (By the way, is there any nickname you go by? :) ) Ditto, only recently I remembered how I enjoyed the Disney versions and then hearing that the originals were ten times better (which is usually the case with most things if not everything. ;)) ) so I read them and love 'em!
LOL! Is that really so? I picked it up from here, so you'll probably see some others use it. I'm embarrassed- hadn't know it was a Northern-Irish greeting. Hee.

Ditto to your response to my question- doing well, things could be better, but well, thanks! :) What's been going on for you lately?

*waves to Cor* How's life of as a Prince who's finished-with-school? =]

Haha, that's quite true, Miss R. With colder temperatures, too, there's not much humidity. I'd say that 70-75 degrees F is pretty comfortable, but when it gets to 85, it can get unpleasant. (unless it's a day when outdoor activity like swimming is taking place, then it's dandy. ;)) )

Sadly, no, school still will be running for two more weeks. (this week for testing and the next for book reports, progress reports, and ... language. *sighs*) Thank-you! Well, yes and no. -- I have a final test having all the Algebra I've learnt, but our curriculum works in the way that in three weeks through the whole year, a test is given on what's learned in the previous three weeks. So, nothing big except for Algebra. (talk about rambling. sorry! ;)) ) Mm, homeschooling does have it's upsides with going at a pace like that. Next year, are you going to continue being in the same school you were this year? :)

A family reunion? How fun! I hope you enjoy that muchly. =] Well, we don't have any travelling plans set out just yet but something new is that we'll be looking after a young gel who'll be coming for some time. It's different, but will be an interesting experience. :) And much reading set out to do, of course. Speaking of reading, what have you been reading of late?
That's so exciting about the concert; do have a great time! I echo Ben's question, though, who's Joshua Bell?

Well, I'll be around and about.
*decides not to make a trip to the chocolate tree because of some major cookie-consumption that will take place...*

I'm already feeling better. I talked to my parents a little and God put some words on my heart, and I was able to start writing a song from them, so I'm much happier now :) .

Well I'm reading P&P, Sealey Head (still, I know), and the 39 Clues series. All great books, IMO :D :p .

*whispers to self*
I'm pretty sure my brother has better things to do than lie on the floor of my bedroom.. :p
Anyway...

Yes it is quite fun indeed! Yeah I always think that it is funny when people say that. With children it is not really true ;))

I would love to have a few more siblings (though undoubtedly I would wish the opposite if that were the case :p ).. they might manage to keep my brother occupied some of the time. ;)

Anyway, this is Vern. My dragon. :)

Vern's a dragon?? :-o *is embarrassed at her slowness in recognizing this after spending a month or two in the Square and runs away to hide in a corner* :p

bwahaha. Well I mean I get pretty, um, introvert-ish (but most of the time I'm already like that) and then I write random, witty (I hope ) stuff and I don't know. From what I've read about him I kinda get like that sometimes . Lol that's not creepy, just fan-ish .

Mmm yeah, I know what you mean. My moods change a lot these days too. *sigh* From what little I've seen of what he's written, I love it. ;))
(it just occurred to me that our attempt at a new topic potentially failed. You want to give it a go? :p )

I think you got that right. I was homeschooled up until this year, and then I tried a "real" school for a change. What about you?

Yeah. ;)) And how is "real" school suiting you? :) My only experience with homeschooling would be during the years I attended a Japanese public school - and that was just an hour a day to keep up my English. Having said that, if the English-speaking school I go to didn't exist, I'd probably be homeschooling right now. :p

And I just had to comment on your remark to Ben about Cheaper by the Dozen. You've read that book? I found it hilarious. ("Mr. Allen, I'm NOT in the mood for an organ recital!")

Actually, I was referring to the movie(s).. I have yet to read the book, although I'm told that the movie was barely based on it. *adds it to her mental things-to-do-in-the-summer list* ;)

I never could quite master those :p

Ooh, me neither! And suffered greatly at the hands of my elementary school teachers in P.E. because of it. ;))
*reads about the festival and wishes she could go*

Good to know I've been noticed, Aslan's Country!... (By the way, is there any nickname you go by? ) Ditto, only recently I remembered how I enjoyed the Disney versions and then hearing that the originals were ten times better (which is usually the case with most things if not everything. ) so I read them and love 'em!

Nicknames.. hmm. You can call me Kathy/Kathryn, whichever you wish, or "AC" (which, the more I see the more I think of air conditioning.. but anyway :p )
I read the books (had them read to me) when I was really young, but recently I picked up the collection that I hadn't touched in maybe 8 years ;)) and there's just so much that you don't get as a child. ;) (the random capitalization cracks me up)

LOL! Is that really so? I picked it up from here, so you'll probably see some others use it. I'm embarrassed- hadn't know it was a Northern-Irish greeting. Hee.

I'm not actually sure if it is. My limited exposure to the English-speaking world in general probably led me to believe that.

Ditto to your response to my question- doing well, things could be better, but well, thanks! What's been going on for you lately?

School ending soon, things slowing down, less homework, an eye infection that is slowly healing.. mostly I'm just looking forward to summer, which I'm sure you've gathered. ;) You finish school soon too, I take it?

I do enjoy being in the Square, even if it is a lot to type up. :)

Mortereve, all! *waves* Stringshop went really well today, and I'm rather excited. It's so inspiring to see my work paying off. ;))

All-righty, Ben, I'll practice it hard then. Oh, and sorry about that... awhile ago I had mentioned how well I enjoyed Joshua Bell's music in the Square. I'm... basically a fanatic... ;) Anyway, he's a professional violinist, and was a huge part of the reason why I decided to continue lessons. (I nearly quit several years ago.... long story.) Sooo.... to me, he's just more special than the rest of 'em, and I've always wanted to attend one of his concerts---but the tickets were mainly around $400/$500-ish.

Heh, Glenstorm, I can't even do a cartwheel. Period. Count yourself privileged to be able to master even a "floppy" one. ;)

And thank-you! Congrats on [hopefully] being able to attend that fall festival! And you'll hear Relient K perform... live? How fun! Will this be the first time?

My, Bella, that sandwich sounds deliiiiicious! Mmmm. You and Ella sound like you love cooking! I do, though I prefer more eating the results... My own "skills" (and I use that word very loosely) are not worth mentioning. ;))

Ahh, yes... swimming is the cure for the dreariness of a hot, humid day. I'd say that ice cream would fit in that category as well. ;)

Oh? Well that's a bit relieving, I suppose. How do you enjoy algebra? I don't mind it, though I find history and English far more exciting. ;)) And yes, I believe I'll be in the same school next year. Not sure yet, but we'll see.

Thank-you very much! It will be fun to see the family again, as most of us haven't been together for five years or so. And that must be exciting, having another "member" of your family for awhile. Will she be staying all summer?

Ah yes, reading. *happy sigh* ;)) I have such a huge "books-to-read" list to catch up on.... Unfortunately, I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to lately. The most recent series I finished was Ted Dekker's Circle Trilogy. I've also started Lord of the Rings, and also hope to begin the Attolian series soon as well. What about you?

And as for Joshua Bell, just take a peek at what I told Benjamin earlier in my post somewhere. :)

Oh, I've loved school, Aslans Country. :) I've made so many new friendships.

And excuse me, then. Yes, the movies were waaaaayyy different from the book... a far cry from the original. But I recommend it to you. It's hilarious!

All right, I guess this post is finished! I hope you have a splendid evening, and I'm off to practice my violin pieces.

Tchau!

Well Hi! How are things in the square today?

Things with me? Oh, well I put in a long day of work today! Got up about 6:30 this morning and then got to the job early and then I did a lot of spraying (painting) and got over spray all in my hair because I was doing eves and the wind was blowing a bit. I got back home at about 6:30 (coincidence).

*scurries into the Square* Okay, I'm about to attempt a very hurried ketchup post. Tomorrow we're leaving to visit my aunt and uncle for a few days. They live on the opposite side of the USA that we do, so we're taking a plane to visit them. :D I'm pretty excited...it'll be my first time riding on an airplane. Anyway, I'll be gone June 9-14, so I'll see you guys when I'm back! :D

Ketchup:

Benjamin, do you have a favorite Ranger's Apprentice character? :D

NN95, I have my braces now, so I don't get the retainer until...I think my orthodontist said it was a year and a half.
That's great! I'm done with school now too. It's such a relief to have it finally out of the way. ;))

*perks up at seeing Miss Rose mention Ted Dekker* Ooh, I am a Ted Dekker fan! I have not yet read the Circle Trilogy, but I have read The Lost Books series, Thr3e, and The Martyr's Song by him. He's very talented, isn't he? :D
Ah, I see! Yeah, I was pretty sure you play the piano, but I wasn't sure...lol.

Johobbit, yes, I do collect stuffed dragons! :D I have five so far. They're really cute...lol, I'll have to post a picture sometime.

AslansCountry, you have 3 more weeks of school? Hope it goes by quickly for you! :D
Lol, there are a lot of homeschoolers on NarniaWeb. ;)) I am one, myself.

Hi StudyMate! Welcome back to the Square! :D I am Narnia Girl, but please call me NG or Lucy. :) How are you?

Lol, yeah she's GodsGirl now. She has changed her name many times. ;)) She's doing great! She got a new American Girl doll back at Christmas, so she was thrilled about that and has been playing with the doll ever since.

Wow, I'm not sure if I had realised how big of an uproar would be caused by my leaving. ;)) Don't I feel loved, now? :p

Hope you all had a good time while I was away, and behaved yourselves!

Ok, what to tell you...

1) I've watched the babies three times now! (wednesday, friday, and saturday) I'm sad, cause I don't see them again til next week, cause of VBS.

Hmm... what to tell you of them? They're really cute, and tend to do their own thing. (though the one year old, Gavin will come up to me every oh... five or ten minutes. he'll stay for a minute or two, and then toddle off again) Tyler, the two year old, doesn't walk yet... he just crawls. I think if I ever have trouble, it'll be with Gavin. (don't worry, I check on them every few minutes during the times we're in separate rooms. other times they are in the same room as me) Let's see, what else? They LOVE goldfish crackers. it's their fave thing to eat! (so when we had them at VBS yesterday, I was all sad "my babies love those... I WANT MY BABIES!" ;)) ) And their favourite movie is Toy Story. They mainly have it on when they are falling asleep, but I had to play it several other times too. haha!

Anyone that wants to see a pic or two of them, I'd be willing to pm you! (but I don't want it on the forum)

2) VBS time is finally here!!!!! :D :D
Today was day 2, and we're having such a blast! I find it hilarious that a lot of the crew leaders and adults are having more fun with it than a lot of the kiddos. ;))

Hmmm... what to tell ya?! I don't know! Feel free to ask questions about it, I'd love to talk about it.

Anyway, that's pretty much it for me. I'll come back again soon!!

edit:
Rosie, dear...
If it makes you feel better... I have read the book "Cheaper by the Dozen", seen the old movies, AND seen the newer (steve martin) ones. Just know you aren't alone! (and yes, the book was HILARIOUS!! I should get that... I haven't read it in ages!)

In order, probably:

1. Merlin
2. The old wizard (can't think of his name)
3. Morgana (that's the name of the princess, right?)

I don't really care for Arthur or Gwenevier (SP?) all that much. The dragon is an interesting (if underused) character.

I know you weren't talking to me, but...

"The old wizard": Do you mean Gaius, the court physician? (who used to be a sorcerer, and happens to be Merlin's uncle ;) ) I like him too!

Yes, the princess (aka Uther's ward, the daughter of his dead best friend) is named Morgana.

(it's spelled: Guinevere. But they call her Gwen. And I've seen several spellings of her name over the years, so don't feel bad on not being able to spell it)

My favourites:
Merlin and Arthur are the funniest. But I like all of the characters... except Uther, and I don't even completely hate him.

Did you know there is a Merlin SF in the Spare Oom right now? (though it might be ending soon, so if you haven't gone in there yet you might want to hurry!)

Mortereve all!

Ahhh, that's interesting. Most people either really like/do well at history & English, or else science and math. That's what I've heard, at least. ;))

Oh? Hah. I was out.... *counts* *tallies* *counts again*.... a total of one day before you were. Not much to brag about. :p But hey, we're both into the summer now. Hurrah!

That would make sense. But I'd say the subjects I do best at are English and math. But I enjoy science more. I guess I'm just weird!

Heh, I don't blame you for having to count twice. It's hard to think once you're out of school, eh? ;))

I sure have! It was very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm gathering you have read it also, as well as seeing the play? Which character was your friend?

Unfortunately, no, I haven't read it. But I knew the premise beforehand. I do plan to read it when I get the time. My friend was Sherlock Holmes!

Glad that your play went well, Aiden! I recall someone asked this, but do you know what your group will be acting in the near or far future? :)
"Eschew sesquipedalianism"... sounds like a medical condition for the teeth that chew. ;)

Thank you! As for what our homeschool group's next plans are... our director is already in the process of picking out a new play and scheduling our practices, but we probably won't have any details until toward the end of this year.
lol, I guess it does! ;))

Haha well I'm one of those people that has to read everything and pay attention. If I don't I feel like I didn't really read the book. So that includes reading all introductions and prologues and epilogues and sometimes even the appendixes and bibliographies ;)) .

I know what you mean, and I'm typically that way, too, so now I'm having second thoughts as to whether or not I did read it!

Pretty much, yes. Haha! Well, back during the 13 year span of 1982-1995 he did a better job of reusing previous work. ;) Alright, let me know what you think. :)

Yeah, I haven't listened to too much Horner, but from what people say, it seems like he's famous for reusing themes. ;)) BTW, I did read the review of the Avatar score. Very interesting.

NN95, I have my braces now, so I don't get the retainer until...I think my orthodontist said it was a year and a half.
That's great! I'm done with school now too. It's such a relief to have it finally out of the way. ;))

Well, enjoy the braces while you've got them! ;)) I'm sure they'll be more comfortable than the retainer.

Hey ho, all ye SquareOnions! :)

Me neither, as by now I've sorta figured a poster wasn't something to freak out about.

Likewise! ;)) What will be, will be, and it's only when we see the full film that we will really know. Having said that, I'm quite excited for the trailer. :D

So ... how did the concert go? (Or have I missed your report somewhere?) And has your infection cleared up? Hope so!

I can never exactly predict where the plot's going; there are so many unexpected twists. It's amazing how he manages to keep readers so enthralled. ;)) And no, I haven't had the chance to read any of his other writings.... yet. Which have you read, and what were your thoughts?

Exactly! And he pumps out a new novel so often. Not sure how he does it, except that he loves writing and just can't stop. ;))

As you may have seen already, I wrote in a PM what books of his I've read, but there are so many more I'd like to delve into. And it's true: once you start one, it's terribly hard to put it down.

Sounds like a fun wedding reception, Ben! Wow, you've only been here one year? It seems like longer ... in a very good way. :)

Bella, I love windows, too. Big, bright, cheery windows. And not just when it's sunny, but also when cloudy days and stormy skies come: in fact, they're quite the most interesting. ;)) So, it sounds like you're looking forward to your summer vacation? :D

In other words, you really have to think while you're reading their books :p

This is very true, and part of the reason I enjoy their writings so much. Good for the ol' brain. ;)

FAVORITE?!?! But it's sooooo long and drawn out and really, dare I say it, pointless if you've read The Hobbit and any good prologue or introduction to the book. It really just recites everything that's been said. Sorry, just my opinion

:)) at your reaction. But not everything in that chapter has been told to us before. There are a number of new revelations. Plus I find it to be an excellent summary of more of the background of not only the Ring, but some other Middle-earth history as well.

ACK! You don't like her?!?! How can you not!?! She's one of the best authors that ever lived and her books are wondorous fabulous beautiful works of romance!!!

Your last sentence just summarized why her works don't appeal to me: I'm not a big fan of romance books, no matter how beautifully and brilliantly they are written. :P

I was dubbed 'Matette' a while ago, but I can't remember by whom; possibly Jo.

Yep, that's right. ;)) And I'm still rather attached to your nickname. GREAT to see you in the Square! :D Don't we miss Aravanna and lysander, though?! lys is around the forum, but Aravanna hardly ever is anymore. :( All the best in your exams, btw!

[quote="AC ... not air conditioning":2f7p5jd4]Excuse me while I imagine Cheaper by the Dozen.

*loves that book by the Galbraiths* It's simply hilarious! I haven't seen either of the movies, because folk say they've changed so much, and they just don't have the endearing quality of the book.

Ben, you do outside work for a job? As in landscaping or something similar? Yep, very dependent on the weather. Are you enjoying it? And good for you for making bread! Nothing quite like a hot, steaming loaf of homemade bread coming out of the oven ... Mmmmm ...

PrinceCor! Thanks for answering my call! :D/ Yes, I agree the part of the Fellowship score, in particular, is beyond wonderful!

*hands Jo a tissue.... then a whole case of tissues along with a towel* Same here, though I thought Gandalf was actually one of the better adaptations character wise. Totally agree with the other characters you mentioned. *always gets annoyed at those three*

I thought Ian McKellen did a superb job portraying Gandalf, but I did not care for his signs of 'weakness', especially in The RotK. For example, Tolkien's Gandalf would never have cringed away from the Lord of the Nazgûl. (See the end of "The Siege of Gondor") *woeful sigh*

*agrees with Matette and GtG that organic is good* It's just verrrry expensive here, sadly. But we try and get it when we can.

Do y'all realize that a certain movie called The Voyage of the Dawn Treader opens in theatres six months ... tomorrow? *does a little Hobbit jig* :D

Oooh, Louise the First, I'd love to hear you play as well. PM is fine. :D *considers this a privilege* And who is Joshua Bell? I presume you answer this later, and will look for said answer. ... Aha, I see a number of other SquareOnions have asked the same question. ;))

*hands GtG some healing athelas for falling on her behind when entering the Square* Ouch! :P I think some water must have sprayed up and over from the Fountain. We must adjust the flow there ...

*agrees with Bella that the original Winnie-the-Pooh books are extremely clever and witty ... and just soooooo cute*

Louise the First, I wonder what you will think of the Attolia books? I am not a fan, but, as you know, many here are. They just didn't grip me, for some reason.

Oooh, Joshua Bell is a professional violinist and I see he's been a great inspiration to you. I'll have to youtube some of this performances. So glad you can go to his concert. Is there any chance you might be able to meet him?

So, Ben, what colour did your hair turn when you (accidentally) spray-painted it? ;))

faves? *rolls eyes at the computer talk* it is spelled favorite. I hope you can graduate...

:)) Actually, in Canada it's spelled 'favourite'. ;)

Narnia Girl, have a great trip! And your first on an airplane too! So cool. Can't wait to see what you think. :) My favourite (note the spelling, everyone, haha) parts are the ascent and descent. It's quite thrilling, especially the former.

Yay, you're another Dekker fan! :D

I'd enjoy seeing a picture of your stuffed dragon collection sometime, oh yes!

So glad you're enjoying both your babysitting job and VBS, PA! :)

Whoa, NN, so cool that you're friend had the honour of playing the famous Detective, himself!

I like many of James Horner's scores, and just realized the other week that he did The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, one of my favourite films.

Well, I sense that Vern needs another treat. It's been awhile. *pulls a good one out of her sleeves* Would this type of soup appeal to you, dear Vern? If so, enjoy! :D

*strolls in to the square humming "Hello McFly"*

that song has been stuck in my head for a good week! Oh well, it's not like it's a bad song ;) .

So I was having an urge to watch the '95 P&P a few days ago and mourning the fact that I didn't have a working copy. But we bought a new VCR so I decided to see if the VHS tapes I had worked with the new VCR...and they did! So now I don't have to buy or rent a copy when I want to watch it :D ! I'm hoping to watch the whole thing this Sunday, since it's my bday, but I think we'll end up going to a friend's house. We'll see :) .

*waves to PA* You're back ! Sounds like you're having alot of fun with the babies! I'd love to see pics :) .

Re Cheaper by the Dozen: I've only seen the older movie. Not the new ones, and suprisingly, I haven't read the book. I mean to sometime in the future though, I liked the movie well enough :) .

I know what you mean, and I'm typically that way, too, so now I'm having second thoughts as to whether or not I did read it!

haha :p ! So I'm hoping to start the second season of Robin Hood tonight...finally! I'll let you know if I do :) .

This is very true, and part of the reason I enjoy their writings so much. Good for the ol' brain. ;)

haha yes ;))

:)) at your reaction. But not everything in that chapter has been told to us before. There are a number of new revelations. Plus I find it to be an excellent summary of more of the background of not only the Ring, but some other Middle-earth history as well.

true true, but they didn't need to repeat everything else!

Your last sentence just summarized why her works don't appeal to me: I'm not a big fan of romance books, no matter how beautifully and brilliantly they are written. :P

I see. I shall never convince you then :( :p . I LOVE a good romance. But not the kind a junk food they write now a days *coughtwilightcough* :p .

*agrees with Matette and GtG that organic is good* It's just verrrry expensive here, sadly. But we try and get it when we can.

it can be expensive, but when your health is at stake, it's worth it! Plus, if you really look hard there are good deals to be had. We pay about $15 for a 50 lbs bag of wheat berries (which we either grind in to flour or use to make raw salads :) ) . We get honey and coconut and rapadura and meat really cheap too. And most of it is local, that's the best and usually the cheapest way :) .

Do y'all realize that a certain movie called The Voyage of the Dawn Treader opens in theatres six months ... tomorrow? *does a little Hobbit jig* :D

EEEEEEEPPPPPP!!!!!!! I am SOOOOO excited for this movie! *jumps up and down several times* :D

*hands GtG some healing athelas for falling on her behind when entering the Square* Ouch! :P I think some water must have sprayed up and over from the Fountain. We must adjust the flow there ...

hehe thank you ;)) . Yes I think that might have contributed to my fall :p .

TTFN :)
