Why thank you, Louise the Second. I most dertainly cid.
I know, I can never exactly predict where the plot's going; there are so many unexpected twists. It's amazing how he manages to keep readers so enthralled. And no, I haven't had the chance to read any of his other writings.... yet. Which have you read, and what were your thoughts?
Oh, I definitely will! And have a splendid time with Laura this weekend.
*waves to AslansCountry* Eh, sorry to hear about your eye! Hopefully it will recover soon. What happened?
Oh? Hmm. Well, I'd probably have a difficult time learning it then.

Hi Liberty
I didn't know you visited the Square.
Yeah.. things have been pretty busy lately.. but hopefully they're slowing down now.
I love your signature - that scene in Two Towers is one of my favourites.
And oops.. I just remembered that I should reply to that PM of yours.. I'll go do it now.
EDIT: Miss Rosario, thank you! I think it's an infection of some sort.. it seems to be getting worse, but I'll probably go see the doctor tomorrow.

Hullo All! How are you all doing?
Well I went to one of my friends wedding receptions last night! It was really fun! There were not too many people but still quite a bit, and then we did some dances such as: The Cha Cha Cha, a Line dance and then The Virginia reel. And then we were throwing some footballs and basketballs...
So A bit of catchup now...
All the guys I know (not including NW friends) seem to hate that book.
("It's too long... boring... no one gets killed. Nothing exciting happens!") I just sigh and shake my head.
![]()
That's weird that no one liked it! It may not be a book with killing. But it is a good book! I like all kinds of books.
Hi Ben. So, you're back in Florida now. Is it really hot there? 'Cause it's been hot up here ... 1500 miles north.
![]()
Oh is it ever hot! I was playing basketball with some friends yesterday and I was sweating like crazy! Plus on top of the hot, there is humidity!
I see there is talk of Jane Austen. Even though I highly respect her as a writer, I am not a huge fan of her books.
![]()
What ones have you read?
Things with me? Oh.. ridiculously busy.
But this evening is the last 'day' of business.
How about you?
Well things with me are not too busy, but I will start working again tomorrow... But all together I am doing quite well
Well I'm off to church now. See you all later!

Hi folk-who-post-in-the-town-square
I haven't been in here in a while (hmm, maybe two years) but thought it was time I dropped by. I hope nobody minds; just thought I'd try and get to know some more nwebbers (and to be honest the Spare Oom isn't exactly hopping ). And then I remembered the fun that always goes on in the square, so thought I'd randomly poke my head in.
I don't think I really know anyone here except the lovely Jo ( ) so.....Hi!
Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions
In my heart. Like why are we here?
And where do we go? And how come it's so hard?

Hey StudyMate! I'll just introduce myself if you don't mind As you can see my name is Benjamin, I have been on NW for a little over a year (and let me tell you it has been great to be here!) I am a boy in a large family (12 children) and I love reading!
Well that's just a few little facts about me. It's nice that you decided to drop back in here! Hope you will stay for a while!

Mortereve, all!
How are we doing on this bright, sunny Sunday? A cool breeze, the smiling sun, two minutes of rain, followed by the cool breeze and smiling sun and walking home. That's truly nice weather... not the sun beating down cruelly and cackling, while we're hot and sticky, and getting a tan. ugh. I prefer cold over hot because with cold, you can pile on ten pullovers and be warm but with hot... there's not much you can do but perspire buckets, fan yourself, bat flies, throw water over yourself--- que lastima!
(Not to complain- I don't enjoy freezing temperatures, nor do I enjoy sweltering hot ones.)
Summer vacation's almost here!! We get off in two weeks-- this school hear seems to have passed so quickly yet so slow.
*sighs* I'm going to have to not plow back 20+ pages to find my last post in here, but I will go back 10 pages and I hope that's fine! *blushes and fumbles akwardly*
Starting from page #160: (There are no guarantees I'll be particularly garrulous or that I'll have an outstanding variation of emoticons... I'm in an imperceptible mood right now... )
Hurrah for liking Up, Cor! It's a masterpiece of a movie...
*giggles at all the fun fonts showing up*
Glad that your play went well, Aiden! I recall someone asked this, but do you know what your group will be acting in the near or far future?
"Eschew sesquipedalianism"... sounds like a medical condition for the teeth that chew.
As always, how exciting about your book, Anna!
What a pompous, cute Mother's-Day poem that is, Mel!
*waves to Ruby* What's new for you? Are you on summer vacation?
Hello there, AslansCountry! I'm definitely thinking we've met, but maybe we haven't. You could call me AitB or Bella, whichever you prefer. How's you? =]
*greets NG with a cheery nod...if that's possible to nod cheerily. sort of like when singing "Father Abraham" * If I lived 80 years then I've slept 15 years, hey? My, my...the facts, the facts!
Anywho, how've you been? Keeping an eye on LLE?
(Ah, but isn't it Godsgirl now? Or has been for a long time now?
)
Hiya, Queen S! We haven't talked for such a long while, hmm? What's been going on for ya? ^_^
Ehehe, MissR, I know what you mean by eating especially delicious appetizers before the meal comes. I prefer everything on the table so I don't have an overbalance of one and a meager supply of the other. *murmers something about eating too many chips and humus yesterday and having no room for the rest...* [/ramble] So I learn you're off school? W00t! Any fun summer plans?
How're you doing, Gtg? =]
*waves with great pomp to none but Fanny* How've you been faring? I hope well! Victoria Day does sound interesting! I'm not sure when this was posted, but I had read some of what you and your siblings did last year-- how perfectly delightful! Did you dress up quite Victorian?
Nice to see you back in the square, lys!
*waves to Djaq* I have picked a topic for us since that problem always confronts us. *wears a sign of victory* How do you feel about gardening? ;] [/randomness] How're you doing?
Pebbles!! I'm faring well, thanks. How about you? ^.^
The air feels like you can cut it with a knife!

I commend your nice similie/metaphor. That sums the weather up quite rightly!
Very interesting list you have there, stardf. 1. or 2. sound the nicest, to me.
What a fun fruit bouquet, Jo!
Hello, hello, Mal!! *throws confetti all over Mal in congratulations and hurrayitons (?) for getting a job at Chick-fil-a.* That's so neat! How are you liking it?
Lady L! It's marvelous to have you around more often, on chat and here! How's your summer break that you lucky collegians get so early going?
Hurrah for the familiar, multi-coloured catch-up post!
What a fun experience to babysit, Anna! I'm sure you're enjoying that quite a lot, the pictures I've seen are very cute! I know how you feel- when young 'uns show that they miss me, I just melt and feel all special. :]
*waves to Ben* Glad you're enjoying P&P.
Hiya, StudyMate! I believe we've talked very briefly, but I haven't officially introduced myself, so; you could call me AitB or Bella (not from Twilight). Any particular nicknames you go by? I've heard quite a lot about you from here and from other Narniawebbers, so I'm pleased to finally meet you! *tips fedora*
Well, I think I'm done! Took less than I had anticipated... I should be coming in here more regularly with school less time-consuming.
*yawns* Well, I think I want a pleasant Sunday-afternoon (more like evening now...) rest and then go to editing my book, poetry and all that fun writing stuff. And reading Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson. It's some new said-to-be wonderful translation. I imagine that the descriptions and adjectives have more beauty and meaning in Danish than they do in English. And overdose of the word "loveliest" & "most charming" is stocked in this translation...yeah, it's getting a little annoying.
*is seeing the sun and light inundate the room just prettily with all that innate light* Mmm, I love windows.
I'll be around for a few minutes and then off to my nap I go!

*waves back to Glenstorm* Hi!
How are you? Are you out of school now?
I'm doing ok. I had a long weekend so I'm worn out from that...and some other stuff that's going on. But I'm good. Actually, I do school through the summer, so no I'm not out and I won't be til I graduate . How are you?
*waves to Ali* How are you doing today Ali?
tired. But I'm ok. How are you?
Ha, I don't blame you. The Council of Elrond sure is a thick chapter, huh? Most of it I just glazed over.
I did read The Hobbit, but it was a much lighter book. Not sure if I read the prologue... that's the kinda stuff that doesn't really interest me, like the Council of Elrond. Same here, I'm reading other stuff, too, so LotR is on hold.
Ah, ok, so just a couple more years of school, huh?
At least I have an excuse!
Haha well I'm one of those people that has to read everything and pay attention. If I don't I feel like I didn't really read the book. So that includes reading all introductions and prologues and epilogues and sometimes even the appendixes and bibliographies .
Oh yeah when you posted, Ali, I saw you only wrote to Libby, and I knew you were editing your post because I had just posted, but I forgot to check until now. So that is why I'm responding to your earlier post right now
![]()
I see
Yeah! And I just watched the 2005 Pride & Prejudice. Its amazing how much more you catch when you have read the book!
yes, I really like that movie but I remember when I watched after having read the book I was like "wow they totally rushed that!" and "they did NOT explain that enough" and things like that . But I still think it's a beautiful adaption
.
Do you like P&P the best, or S&S?
P&P but S&S is my second favorite .
It's from the 2005 P&P when Mr. Darcy is listening to his sister play the piano, right before Lizzy and her aunt and uncle walk in.
I did not hear about "the chat thing". Do you have a gmail account? Or does my chat work with yours?
Oh I see...
I do have Gmail. It should work...maybe you just weren't on .
*just notices that Ali said I snubbed her* If you are speaking of my missing your edited post then that is not true and you know it! If it was anyones fault that I missed that post it was yours, because I saw it before you edited it (like I said above).
![]()
![]()
just thought I would trow that out there
no it's YOUR fault for posting before I did!
Wow, that's almost like me. I had them for four/four-and-half-years.... never a cavity.
I've never broken a bone, either (though I came pretty near to that with my hand).
I've never really broken a bone. Well I broke my pinkie toe three times...in one year. And I almost broke my foot when I fell on it with all my weight. But those aren't really, um, bones? I hate telling people if they ask if I broke a bone "oh yeah, I broke my toe! And it wasn't even my big toe! uhuh!"
.
GtG, sounds like you have a great list of books you're reading now! I especially appreciate the writings of Edith and Francis Schaeffer, as well as John Piper.
Yes they are very good, but very very deep. In other words, you really have to think while you're reading their books .
That's one of my favourite chapters in The FotR.
I love the history and discussion amongst the races.
I see there is talk of Jane Austen. Even though I highly respect her as a writer, I am not a huge fan of her books.
![]()
FAVORITE?!?! But it's sooooo long and drawn out and really, dare I say it, pointless if you've read The Hobbit and any good prologue or introduction to the book. It really just recites everything that's been said. Sorry, just my opinion .
ACK! You don't like her?!?! How can you not!?! She's one of the best authors that ever lived and her books are wondorous fabulous beautiful works of romance!!!
Anything, really. I could start with, 'how's life'?
![]()
hmm, everyone keeps asking me that . I don't know, really. I've been going between, um, bouts of depression/loneliness and then I get really...Adam Young-ish?
Good luck with that.
My dad's English, and I've never been able to master it myself.. although that would probably be because he.. doesn't actually speak with one.
yeah my dad's Scottish and he doesn't speak with an accent, but my grandparents do . It takes some practice to understand what they're saying actually
.

Thanks for the welcome; it's nice to meet you! I was going to comment that 12 children is a lot; but you probably hear that all the time so I'll add that I think that is really cool. I'm the eldest of four, and I struggle with cooking dinner for my meagre family of six.
Also, reading is indeed the bees' knees.
Bella-not-from-Twilight: It's nice to officially meet you! I've enjoyed reading your posts in the Spare Oom, but I don't think I knew you when I first joined.
I was dubbed 'Matette' a while ago, but I can't remember by whom; possibly Jo. That's my nickname of sorts, feel free to use it or just type out SM if that's too long. Hmm.. that just sounded kinda creepy. I probably don't even know that much about him to even accurately say that.
yeah my dad's Scottish and he doesn't speak with an accent, but my grandparents do . It takes some practice to understand what they're saying actually .
Yeah.. I hate dealing with strong accents.. but even more when I get singled out because I don't have an accent, in the UK. (eg. "I can't understand a word you're saying!" when they're the ones with the accent. )

Mortereve all! Sorry for being gone so long, Life decided to gang up on us for a bit.... Everything calming down now, so here we are.
*The Prince and Dragon take their seats at the fountain*
Alright, time for a catch-up post. Be forewarned, this one will probably be long.....
-----------------------------
@ Ali. Yikes! Well, fortunately that did not happen to me. That would an awful feeling to realize you still had to do more school....
@ Mal.
So no pool dunkings, then?
And yes, they do have that unfortunate effect, along with being generally nerve-wracking and uncomfortable. Thus the wisdom of not having one!
![]()
No, no pool dunkings or fountain dunkings. Granted, we could start one if you wanted..... Kidding!
Phew! Good to know. And oh my, disgusting doesn't begin to cover it. Although, might Vern perhaps enjoy something like that? It can't be any worse less delicious than giant toasted ants, can it?
*shivers at the thought* I could not even begin to imagine the disgusting-ness of that.... No, I think that would be a line that Vern would never cross.
*Spam with marshmellows? Sounds delicious!! *
I stand corrected.
*Just kidding, Cor and Mal. It sounds as disgusting to me as it does to you two.*
Ah, I see. Do you have a favorite character from what you've seen?
In order, probably:
1. Merlin
2. The old wizard (can't think of his name)
3. Morgana (that's the name of the princess, right?)
I don't really care for Arthur or Gwenevier (SP?) all that much. The dragon is an interesting (if underused) character.
Hurrah!! That's fantastic! Congrats! I can't remember if you've told me before; do you know what you're planning to do next fall?
Thanks! I think I told you a while back, but anyway... I'm planning on attending the local community college in the Fall. Get my basics out of the way.
@ Jo.
Yep. *sniff and weep* Not all the characters, but unfortunately some of the main ones. *coughAragornGandalfFaramirThéodencough* *weeps silently, then bursts into sad sobs* Having said that, I still enjoy watching those films (fast-forwarding certain non-canon parts), but love The FotR the best, as it is the most faithful to Tolkien ... especially The Shire. ♥
*hands Jo a tissue.... then a whole case of tissues along with a towel* Same here, though I thought Gandalf was actually one of the better adaptations character wise. Totally agree with the other characters you mentioned. *always gets annoyed at those three*
FotR is indeed the best adaptation, even with the goofy wizard duel in Orthanc and Aragorn's whole "I don't want to become king" bit. It also has the best last 20 minutes or so of score in the trilogy, from leaving Lothlorian to the end credits. Amazing!
@ Mel. So now I'm "contrary"? First a compliment and now this??
@ NN.
Well, I wish you luck!
Really? That's weird. It's everything he's ever done thrown into one score? Isn't that every score of his? Alright, if I get a chance I'll read your review.
Thanks!
Pretty much, yes. Haha! Well, back during the 13 year span of 1982-1995 he did a better job of reusing previous work. Alright, let me know what you think.
@ LL. *is quite hurt and in other respects disappointed that he was not mentioned in his friends post.... *
Well, maybe by mentioning you in my post, you'll mention me in your next post.... sometime.
@ Ruby. Job hunting is.... not going. I haven't really been looking lately. Life has taken center stage for the past week, so I've been too busy to look.
Thanks! So do I!
@ Rose. Thank you for your vote of confidence. It's very reassuring. Hmm, Vern as m bodyguard... that could work out quite well. As long as he didn't torch anything that is.
*I would try my best not to. Unless they have tapestries that deserve to be torched. *
@ Jo. Sorry for not being around much, Jo. As I mentioned earlier, Life has been quite hectic lately. But, after seeing your post we have answered your call.
@ Studymate. WooHoo!!! You finally made it back to the Square!!!
Hopefully there's no reason to introduce myself again. Speaking of introductions, did you meet Vern before you left on the old forum? I can't remember... Anyway, this is Vern. My dragon.
*Pleasure to meet you, miss Studymate! Cor has told me a lot about you.*

And you're still not out of school? Good luck on your last few weeks! (Have you started finals yet?) And yes, I'm out of school for the summer. I sort of miss homeschooling... I got stuck a grade or two behind my actual academic skill because of one subject, while at home we would just focus on that particular one while moving ahead with the others.
*realizes that was a long, rambling sentence...*
Anyhoo... nope, not much is planned for the summer! Usually we go to the west coast, but not this year. I believe we are having a family reunion in Missouri at the end of July, buuut... as far as I know, that's about it. What about you? Anything new?
