Hey Everyone! How is it with you all?
Well just finished Pride and Prejudice last night! It was a really good book! I would definitely recommend it!

Yep! There seemed to be a bit of a mixup. The Servant thought that he was only supposed to do five people so he has only been leading them so all the others were a bit neglected... But its all worked out now.

Hmmm...this song is beautiful.
Apologies, apologies for not replying to all you lovely NarniaWebbers sooner! And I thought this month was going to be relaxed. How wrong I was about that. As some of you may have heard, the roof in the shower in one of our bathrooms (the main one) decided to cave in a few months ago. We discovered that our wall was mold-infested and thus began a demolition/remodeling of our bathroom. We're in the plumbing stages and are trying to get new showers and tubs in. It's so, so hectic. The only working shower in our house right now happens to be the one in mine and my sister's bedroom. And it's the shower that doesn't have any hot water! I hate our shower. The water pressure is all messed up.
We just got our shower installed today and the plumber only has to finish up a little work tomorrow and my brothers have to lay down cement and then we should be able to use a hot shower! It'll be weird, taking a shower in a demolished bathroom, but I am getting so sick of freezing cold showers.
Cold showers, I can handle, if they're ever so slightly warm. But when it's so freezing that you feel like you're going to die from hypothermia, there is something seriously wrong!
Enough of my ranting about bathrooms and showers. That isn't the only thing going on right now, though it is a big part of all the hecticness. I'm still teaching dance class and am really impressed with my students' work! Sometimes I feel so incapable of teaching such young children, but yesterday I figured out that one of my students could dance all the steps up to speed! I was amazed.
It was just so encouraging. I've been trying to incorporate Winty into my dance classes, but unfortunately due to mis-communication on my part, she hasn't been able to dance for the past two weeks with me.
And then, to add to all the crazy schedules we've had this week, part of my family including meself, is going up to visit my sister, JMoon. I'm really excited! We're supposed to be leaving tomorrow sometime and I still have to pack...
*just realized that she's been catching up on a post that she's already caught up on*
Oh my, my....
Anyway, to catch up with all you amazing NarniaWebbers! I have been putting this off far too long.
*appreciates anything John Piper writes* He's so solid!
I've appreciated him for the same reason! There's just so much in the Bible that I don't understand or am really unsure about. I'm hoping to read his book Desiring God when I'm done with this one.
Hehe, apparently I wasn't paying attention to your post earlier...thanks for clarifying about your sister. It's a cute nickname and I'm surprised she still keeps it. My oldest sister tried leaving her pet nick name at home when she went to college, but somehow it leaked...
*enormous wave to Djaq who she has not seen in a million ages!*
Okay, not quite a million, but it has been a long time. What have you been up to these days? Enjoying summer? You and Flam are still playing mandolin, right?
I haven't seen you in awhile either. It's nice to have you back.
I've been busy-ish. We did photos for a dance studio awhile back and I'm about ready to be done with their orders.
I'll be spending next week with my grandmother and helping her do stuff around her house. How about you?
*snork* The nickname "rambling Ruby" really does fit me! I must commend you with much praise for your creativity, Mel!
Taking photos for dance is fun. For some reason we always take our photos right after the dress rehearsal of our big spring performance. I don't know why, because we're always tired and hot and look disgusting and it's late at night...but I like taking dance photos when it's not the night before our performance.
Hey, I'm just about to leave tomorrow to go visit my grandmother and my sister! Grandmother's are the best. And I'm sure you had a good time with yours. I know I'm looking forward to seeing my own. My sister tells me she's perked up a lot since she arrived there to stay with her, which is good.
Cor, how goes the job hunting? My sisters always tell me that that's the most difficult thing about college/life after high school. Finding a job. My time is coming soon, I suppose.
I hope everything works out!
Well, politics wasn't what I had in mind (I'm don't understand them very well either), but what do you think about dating vs courtship? Micah wasn't interested in talking about this
.
*snigger* I can see why Aiden didn't want to talk about this one.
But seriously. Coincidentally enough, I've been thinking on this subject a bit lately. Just because it's a subject I've never really delved into. I picked up a really good book by Eric and Leslie Ludy called When Dreams Come True. And I thought it was just a really good insight to the whole dating vs. courting theme.
Now I have to say I've never ever gotten into any sort of relationship with a guy and probably won't for a long time, but from what I've learned from my parents, church, and the Bible, I would have to say that from a Christian perspective, a relationship between a guy and a girl has to be Christ centered. Before getting into any such relationship, I would take a step back and see if I'm just out to satisfy myself or if I'm really trying to glorify God in my actions.
My dad told me that before I could serve my future spouse, I would have to learn to serve God. Because it's only until you understand who God is and what He's done for us that you can learn to serve others in the same way. Likewise, you need to find a spouse who is willing to serve God with you. Because, if the relationship is simply self-centered, then it's a completely hollow relationship and needs to be re-focused. God intended Christians to reflect His character in all they do, including marriage.
That's just my personal view on relationships in the context of Christianity. I don't believe in dating for the mere purpose of dating. I don't think people should start relationships unless they have marriage in mind.
What do you think?
Hmm, oh dear, sorry if I rambled!! I hope that was helpful in some.
This is high school!
And thank you! I'm very much looking forward to it; it's on Saturday, so I'm nearly done! Only one...more...day!

How did the graduation go? And how's your summer going thus far? Do you have any plans for the future?
So you'll be a junior next year? You're halfway done!
Do you know what you'd like to pursue yet? And it can be very stressful trying to balance activities and such with school! I'll be praying everything works out well for next year!
I'm not quite sure yet. In general, I'd like to pursue music, but I'm not sure yet if I've got the talent and the experience to get into any college worth going to. Thanks for your prayers, malkah! Things actually have been sort of coming along smoothly. Next year looks a lot brighter, in terms of musical pursuit.
Do you have any books in particular that you're hoping to read? Mission work with your church sounds fun- if I may, do you know what you'll be doing? And have fun at camp and on vacation!
![]()
Right now I'm reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. It's the first Austen I've ever read, though I've seen a lot of the adaptions on film. I'm really loving it and hope to read more of her work this summer. Also, I'm hoping to read a book called A Severe Mercy soon. I can't remember the author's name, but I know that he was a friend of C.S. Lewis' and some of Lewis' letters are in the book. And I've heard really good recommendations for the book, so I'm looking forward to it.
For mission work, I'm going to be helping with a couple of childrens' Vacation Bible Schools and then our youth group usually goes door-to-door and talks to people/asks them questions about faith and life and what they believe about God and we hand them pamphlets and stuff about our church. I really love working with younger kids, so I'm looking forward to it.
Thank you so much for your prayers! Do you have any plans for the summer?
*waves to Liberty* Hey girl! It has been a while since you were on the Square and even longer since we chit-chatted.
I never heard the end of your Vertigo diagnosis! Are you completely recovered from that yet?

Well I have been traveling cross country (look at my last post for for details). Other then the fact that I am just getting over a cold, I'm doing good.

I played "Return of the Lion" from the Prince Caspian soundtrack.
Yay! I'm so glad to hear it! And I would have loved to hear you play that piece. All the tracks on Prince Caspian soundtrack are pretty.
I've been great, thanks! I would be enjoying the spring weather if we were having spring weather... Unfortunately, we've been having unbearably hot summer-type weather. How's the weather where you live?
Good to hear it! Unfortunately, the spring weather here is no longer spring weather either. It's summer now, which means the weeds grow like wild fire and the sun is unbearably hot. But the days are long and peaceful which I like. And sometimes they're eventful.
Do you have any plans for this summer?

lol
Oh I haven't read that specific book, but I have read a few by the Ludys. I actually met Leslie at a conference last month when she and Eric were giving some lectures. They are very good and I agree with everything they said.
Yes exactly a relationship should be completely centered around Christ. If it isn't, it's not going to work. And the reason why alot of marriages fail is b/c people are always saying "they're not fulfilling my needs" instead of "how can I serve them and meet they're needs?" In order to have a beautiful, God-glorifying relationship, you have to be a servant.
I hate how people have made dating a recreational activity. It's just something to do on Friday. Relationships are supposed to be taken seriously. You don't go out with someone just to have fun. You should only pursue a relationship if you feel God is calling you to do so and if you're ready to be married. So I totally agree with you .
I have slightly different views from my parents b/c they don't think that a couple should go out on their own on a date or whatever. They think there should always be a chaperone. I think you need to see both people in their family enviroments, b/c that's their true self. But I also think it's fine to go out by yourself sometimes b/c it's hard to have a really good conversation if siblings are running around and asking too many questions .
but anyway, I'm glad we agree .

well I just hope he'll grow it out that long again! It's never been that long before . Yes his voice is much better than his hair, but his hair completed his awesomeness
.

Guys?
I feel really bad. I had really, honestly meant to reply to all of you. And part of me still wants to. But things have been nuts around here. (on Nweb, and in RL) And I just... I can't do it anymore.
I'm not entirely quitting Nweb, that would never happen. I love it too much, love all of YOU too much. But for the last several years, for whatever reason...
it hasn't been the same. Something has changed. I don't know if it's the site, the people, or if... if it's just me. I find myself growing increasingly more emotional and/or cynical in response to things on the forums. I don't want to ruin this place for myself, or anyone else. Therefore, I'm giving myself a vacation from this place.

I stopped in The Fellowship for a while b/c that one chapter was so boring. You know, The Council of Elrond. If you read the prologue and The Hobbit, you really don't need to read that chapter. But I'm kinda on hold with TTT right now b/c I'm reading alot of other stuff.
I don't mind

Ha, I don't blame you. The Council of Elrond sure is a thick chapter, huh? Most of it I just glazed over. I did read The Hobbit, but it was a much lighter book. Not sure if I read the prologue... that's the kinda stuff that doesn't really interest me, like the Council of Elrond. Same here, I'm reading other stuff, too, so LotR is on hold.
Ah, ok, so just a couple more years of school, huh?
At least I have an excuse!

It's summer now, which means the weeds grow like wild fire and the sun is unbearably hot. But the days are long and peaceful which I like. And sometimes they're eventful.

Eh, we don't care about weeds. Our whole yard is a mess... grass won't grow; but we've got this really nice-looking stuff that we suspect is a weed, but it's much greener than grass and spreads nicely, so we deal with it. [/sidetrack] Anyway! Yes, I love the long nights where the light lasts till 8:00 at night! And the AC makes the weather bearable.
Nope, we don't have anything specific planned, except for our annual trip down south to see my grandmother. How about you?

Good mortereve, SquareOnions! Happy Friday to one and all!
It's summer now, which means the weeds grow like wild fire and the sun is unbearably hot.
That sounds unpleasant! But then I've always been partial to cooler weather. That may come from growing up here in a cooler climate - though it does get hot and humid in the summer here, I'm glad the kind of weather you're describing usually doesn't hit here until July. I'd rather have snow than 90F!
These discussions of LOTR remind me that it's about time for me to reread those books. It's been a while. But with summer coming, there's a lot of other things that offer distractions - at least until the heat and mosquitoes come and tempt me to stay indoors.
Sorry to see you go, Princess Anna, though I wish you all the best during your break. Be sure to keep in touch, and to check in from time to time for VDT news.
...yeah, I have read Erak's Ransom....
I confess I haven't heard of this. When I first read this page I saw it as Erik's Ransom. (Erik is a main character in a long-term series of short stories I've written over the years, including last year's NaNoWriMo attempt).
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Mort'reve, all! I'm going to assume that the majority of you are out of school by now, and into your summer! (And for those of you who are not, well... you have my pity.)
I'm also going to assume that you all are doing fairly well. I definitely am! I finished Ted Dekker's Circle Trilogy yesterday. (Actually, not really... I never read Black... only Red and White.) Anyway, the ending was.... amazing. Mind-blowing. And very unexpected. Any of you read the series? His books are so... gripping. I can never put them down!
So, now that those have been read, I'll be continuing down my list of books to read. What else is summer for? heh
Wow, only four pages have passed. That's somewhat relieving, after being gone over a week. Anyway, catching up from.... *counts*.... page 165:
You had to have some cavities filled, Queen Susan? Ohh, how did that go? I've never had one before.
Well, well... it's Mr. stardf! Good to see you again, along with your familiar posts. And, I have to admit... I can think of at least one book or movie that fits each description you listed. Heh. Your Guide to Classic (and Not-So-Classic) Romances was most interesting to read.
I've never had a cavity before actually, and I had braces for five years too!
Wow, that's almost like me. I had them for four/four-and-half-years.... never a cavity. I've never broken a bone, either (though I came pretty near to that with my hand).
Oh yes, I'm finished with my finals by now, Ruby. They went well, thank-you! There was one that.... *cough*.... had serious trouble. But the rest made up for it.
Haha, well to each his own. Last time I said math was my worst subject, but I had forgotten about history. That's by far my worst/least favorite subject. I do love English, though!
Aw, no fair. I don't finish until Thursday.
Ahhh, that's interesting. Most people either really like/do well at history & English, or else science and math. That's what I've heard, at least.
Oh? Hah. I was out.... *counts* *tallies* *counts again*.... a total of one day before you were. Not much to brag about. But hey, we're both into the summer now. Hurrah!
Fanny: Thank you, I did pretty well on my finals overall. And ohhhhh yes. I'm SO happy to have that splint off!! I wanted to have a huge ceremony and bury it outside in the backyard, but I figured that wasn't really wise... in case I needed it again.
So I have some exercises to do for my thumb, and it's already feeling much better.
I have that string workshop coming up next week from Sunday through Thursday, so I'm excited!
Mel: "Rosy Miss Rosa"? Tehe, that was a very cute and creative post!
Malkah! Yay for the new Chick-fil-A job! And yes, I will actually be performing the concerto in the fall. I'll be taking lessons during the summer and will hopefully be able to relearn it! And thank you! My hand has now officially healed, and the splint was removed a week or so ago.
I LOVE cilantro! Especially in burritos and salsa, yum. And only one or two? That's terrible! Surely there's more who only don't like it because they don't know what it is and that they've eaten and liked it, so they would like it if they knew that.
...I don't think that sentence made any sense.
Really? Hurrah for us! It adds SO much more flavor... people have no clue what they're missing!
So I have been reading Pride and Prejudice, and I'm enjoying it.
All the guys I know (not including NW friends) seem to hate that book.
("It's too long... boring... no one gets killed. Nothing exciting happens!") I just sigh and shake my head.
Haha, nope Narnia Girl... you're not totally making that up. I do play the piano, though I've quit lessons. I'm so glad your recital went well!
Oh, and I know she feels the same, Louise. We'd both love to meet you so much! (Though I'm sure you know that quite well through our PMs...
).
And thank you! I'm so excited about the music work shop next week, I can barely sit still.
I'm sure you'll do fine in a "public" school, Cor. You might need a bodyguard, though, methinks? I'm sure Vern could safely qualify for the job...

Hi Ben. So, you're back in Florida now. Is it really hot there? 'Cause it's been hot up here ... 1500 miles north.
Narnia Girl, glad you had a lovely vacation. You collect stuffed dragons? Or stuffed animals, in general? And how cool you played a Narnia song for your recital.
GtG, sounds like you have a great list of books you're reading now! I especially appreciate the writings of Edith and Francis Schaeffer, as well as John Piper.
It was The Hound of the Baskervilles, a great Sherlock Holmes novel. Have you read that one?
I sure have! It was very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm gathering you have read it also, as well as seeing the play? Which character was your friend?
*spies a beautifully-coloured post and is overjoyed to see L_L is back to her usual posting style, which is always very enjoyable and warm*
As for books, I always have a few on the go. And which I pick up when depends on my mood and the busyness (or not) of the day. One is by my bed; one by my reading chair in the living room; one in the car; usually one on the kitchen table.
I stopped in The Fellowship for a while b/c that one chapter was so boring. You know, The Council of Elrond.
That's one of my favourite chapters in The FotR. I love the history and discussion amongst the races.
I see there is talk of Jane Austen. Even though I highly respect her as a writer, I am not a huge fan of her books.
Ruby, you have much wisdom in your outlook on relationships. And blessed with parents who have taught you in Godly ways.
PA, all the best in your break away from the forum. Come back when the time is right.
I have read some of Dekker's books, Louise the First, and always enjoy them. They're very, very hard to put down. And I love his twists! To my chagrin, I haven't not yet read the Circle Trilogy. But I need to! I'm really glad you like his writing, Louise.
Have you read any other of his books?
Again, I'm so thankful that your hand is all healed, dear middle-namesake. Oooh, have a great and learning and growing time at the music workshop! Please tell us a bit about it when you return.
I haven't seen PrinceCor and Vern around here lately. Miss you guys, PC ... and your dragon too! Add Mel to this, as well. I believe she's away for a bit, but ... we miss you, Mel-y-poo!
Well, I'm heading to Valiant_Lucy's tomorrow and Sunday for a visit. Looking forward to a mini-holiday there.
Until next time, all you dear SquareOnions! Sozy clippers and may the stars of the heavens grace your dreams.

It's been way too long.. This last week or two has been hectic.. but it's finally coming to an end, and then, summer!
My eye is really swollen and painful at the moment. And it's the school concert tonight, so I hope I can actually enjoy it.
Time to catchup..
*waves back to Aslans Country* I don't think I have had the privilege to meet you either! Hello How are things with you the past days/weeks?
Things with me? Oh.. ridiculously busy. But this evening is the last 'day' of business.
How about you?
me too
. What do you want to talk about?
![]()
Anything, really. I could start with, 'how's life'?
yeah...hopefully I get a part this time
. I think I need to work on my English accent
.
Good luck with that. My dad's English, and I've never been able to master it myself.. although that would probably be because he.. doesn't actually speak with one.
Wow. Is Japanese a really difficult language, Aslans Country? It seems so confusing, with all the symbols and all
.
I wouldn't know, because I've been speaking it since I was around four years old.. but I've been told it's fairly difficult for English-speakers to learn, because they're such different languages. Whereas I have Korean friends that speak fluently after living here for two years.
As for the symbols, you can essentially read and write after learning one basic script with 50+ letters in it, but then you've got an infinite number of characters (somewhere between 2000-3000 used in everyday language) to learn before you can actually read everything. I've only mastered around 1000, and I get by.
*hopes that rambling wasn't too long*
*waves to AC* I've decided I like the nickname AC! It suits you very well! And I definitely know what it's like to get weird nicknames. A friend of mine nicknamed me "Emerald" the other day. It was strange, because I've always thought of myself as Ruby as have all my other friends. Apparently, he had never heard of my nickname Ruby and I have yet to tell him about it.
It suits me? The first time someone abbreviated it to AC on Nweb, I didn't catch that they were referring to me, and thought they were talking about air conditioning.
And as you can see, I've made my decision as well. lol.. Emerald?
I am likewise doing well, thanks! Are you almost done with school for the summer?
Not as soon as I'd like, but yeah, 3 more weeks. And the next 3 weeks won't be very work-centric.
Yeah. I know what you mean. But I'm not panicking ... yet. Just really curious at this point. Actually, I'm thinking this will hopefully be a more faithful adaptation than was the infamous PC.
Me neither, as by now I've sorta figured a poster wasn't something to freak out about.
I hope your orchestra can continue. Our daughter (Nellie of Narnia on here) played the French Horn for years. It is one of my 'favouritest' instruments, with it's rich, almost haunting at times, beautiful, and mellow, but powerful sound. When CSL talks about longing for something 'other', the French Horn's sound coincides with that to a "T". It's really hard to describe ... so pardons if that sounds rather odd: at least I know what I mean. Btw, on NWeb, there are two others I know for sure who play the French Horn: DiGoRyKiRkE and Aravanna.
Me too.. our end of year concert's tonight, and at the rehearsals yesterday it was so nice to see all of us lined up on stage. Our school's concerts usually mean a bunch of somewhat adequate rock bands coming up on stage and deafening us. Not that I hate rock music or anything, but I don't enjoy our school's performances.
Oh yes, I really know what you mean. Although I play the piano a lot more, I like the Horn better.
Ooh, really? Fellow French Horn players are so hard to meet.
I am well thank-you. You can call me CSLN, CS, Ella, or anything you'd like to call me.
Anything? Now that has a few possibilities, but no, I won't start.
AslansCountry, thanks, I had an awesome vacation.
So are you out of school yet?
Well that's good.
Oh.. I wish. 3 more weeks!
*waves to far too many people to mention*
That's it for now.. wish me luck at that concert! (Although no doubt it will be over before anyone has had a chance to post. )
