I've never had a cavity before actually, and I had braces for five years too!
So, what did you sew?
Blessed. And wow, 5 years is a long time.
I've had quite a few cavities, even though I brush my teeth twice as much as any of my siblings, who have had basically zilch cavities.
Ruby: Our trip went very well, thank you!! Had a very, very enjoyable time there... There was an "English Country Dance", talent night (most things were hilarious)
, ice-cream "social", we toured Chicago, sang in a choir, etc.
Anything new with you?
was it sort of like the dances they had in Jane Austen film adaptations?
Yeah, I'd say it was somewhat similar. They had the Virginia Reel--a pretty popular one that you might be familiar with. *shrug*
-How fun! Hope you enjoy the time with your uncle.
we don't exactly have a set date for me graduating
Same here... My brother "technically" "graduated" (finished his books) in December.
-Nothing much new here I suppose--my brother's graduation party is on June 5 at our house, I've been sewing a bit lately... (Got fabric enough for two different new skirts yesterday when we went to Hancock Fabrics. ) And... yeah.
But tell me, what is it that distinguishes this type of dancing?
Hm, well, it's somewhat like the style in P&P... And some of the dances are like square dances possibly? I'm unsure. The Virginia Reel was one we did...
nasssty needle(s) they have to put in to freeze at the the beginning.
Ugh, tell me about it.
They only stabbed me about 5 times. And it only hurt dreadfully once. I guess then I was somewhat numb so the next stabs didn't hurt as much.
You just kind of try and shrink when they stick it in. Ow.
But other then that it was fine. Thought I'd get both filled, but ended up only one. Maybe a good thing, then half my mouth was able to talk.
Hello.
*awkward pause......* Sooo, what do we do now?

Mortereve all!
Guess what! I'm done with school for the year! Hooray!
I'm doing the same thing with LOTR
. I was reading it consistently but I want to read other things too
.
Haha that's funny
. Hmm, lucky. But are you ahead?
![]()
So, how far LotR are you? Or, have you read it before? I really should get back to reading it, but there's so many things to read it's hard to decide what to do first.
I guess, it's because we don't take breaks any other times, like Spring break, or whatever most kids have. I get all my break time during Christmas. Yes, I'm a year ahead most people my age, and in math I'm two years ahead.
@ NN. Thanks! I hope so too.
Yes, I'm hoping to start our local Community College early next year.
Pretty much anything by Horner is better than Titanic.
Well, besides Avatar.
![]()
Gotcha, sounds like a great plan!
But, alas, Titanic is the most well-known. Oh, James Horner did Avatar, too?
Have a great mortereve, all!

Once a SquareOnion, always a SquareOnion.
Today has been a good day, if I do say so myself!
Despite my wretched road bike, I still managed to have a nice ride and went halfway around our entire neighborhood. I would have made it all the way around, if the heat didn't make my head ache and my stomach sick. But I feel much better now. I think the ride got my energy pumping.
After biking, I came in, read a little, and then wrote a nice long letter to some dear friends who I have neglected writing to for far too long. I am currently reading so many good books right now. Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper and then I just finished When Dreams Come True by Eric and Leslie Ludy. Also, I've picked up Jane Austen's Mansfield Park again, which I never managed to finish last summer.
Ah...methinks I should stop rambling and finish the bit of catch up I have!
*waves back to Aiden* How have you been lately? Enjoying the spring weather?
Ali, I'm sorry about the play. But I hope that you get into the musical next time!! Scrooge is such a fun musical. My family and I went to Branson one Christmas and saw Scrooge at Silver Dollar City. It was very amusing. I love musicals.
And I'd love to have a discussion with you! What would you like to talk about? Pretty much every controversial topic has been on my mind recently. Though, I should probably say here and now that I'm not the most politically inclined people (as in, I don't understand politics that much ).
Fanny! American history and literature are very appealing subjects, though I can't say that I like the curriculum I'm working through. It's a very easy but very boring curriculum. But my parents are trying to make my other schooling easy (and not so much of it) so that I have more time this fall to work on chiefly music.
This month of June is looking very not-busy at the moment. I'm hoping to take this opportunity to read and write a lot and especially learn more about my Savior, Jesus Christ and get to know Him better. July, on the other hand, is looking absolutely packed with activities! I'll be helping out with mission work with our church the first two weeks and then the next week I'm going to a Christian camp and then the following week, I'm going on vacation with my family.
I'm really excited, but I'm not sure if I'm prepared for such a crammed schedule. In the end, I know that it's all going to turn out well. I just need to get over my worrying habit.
my sister's (nickname) is Poops or Poopsey. I began that when she was five and I was fifteen. (It actually began as Poopsey-Pie.) Now, at 42, she adamantly refuses ('though all in fun) that we call her by her real name, and conversely, asks that no one outside my family calls her Poopsey.
*chuckles* I can understand why your sister refuses to be called that any longer! My littlest sister used to be called "pookums" but my quickly stopped that once she reached the age of six.
"Moonie" is short for "JealousOfTheMoon". That's not her real name, but ever since she chose that for her user name, I've always thought of her as "Moon". And every time I look at the moon, I think about her.
Prince Cor, you're welcome! I hope the whole job works out and isn't too stressful or strenuous!
Queen Susan, glad to hear that your trip went well! Nothing much new has happened. School has ended (yipee!) and I'm looking forward to a pleasant summer. Hopefully sometime in the month of June, I'll be able to go visit my sister Moon. Other than that, my schedule doesn't get busy until July.
Well, that's all for now! I'll be hanging around here for a while.
God bless!

Oooh, NN, I enjoyed The Speckled Band: creeepy and very exciting! Of course, I don't think there is a Sherlock Holmes story I don't like!
Ah yes, I seem to recall Bart's numerous quotes and short answers now. Whereas Orious[b would just write and write and write. Both styles fun to read ...
Actually, no, GtG, I don't ride. Well, I've ridden a few horses in my day, but I don't have a real interest now.
Mom likes them as movies, but despises them as adaptations (which I agree with).
Likewise, except there are parts of PJ's films I think he got bang-on ... such as the Shire. ♥ The Grey Havens scene ain't bad either. But there are other parts where I feel like tearing out my hair, thinking "how could they have changed such a noble character?!" Grrrr! Mind you, I guess it could have been even worse ...
I've been reading over the past comments on Labyrinth for a particular reason: I found it at a store today for quite inexpensive, so picked it up. A coincidence, too, that the cashier specifically mentioned Dark Crystal when she saw I had Labyrinth in my hands.
Vern, Vern! Did you not see the gift I left for you yesterday? You usually mention it, so I didn't want you to miss this special treat ... so juicy sweeeeet!
Cool about the English Country dancing, Queen Susan. Sounds fun!
Maybe a good thing, then half my mouth was able to talk
Ouch! Yes, I try and pinch myself somewhere—hard!—when they give me that needle in the mouth. I find feeling the pain elsewhere helps somehow. Don't know why, though: it's pain in both cases. Maybe because I have control of the one.
*celebrates Aiden's last day of school for this year* (But not with chocolate ) How about with ... a bouquet of fruit?
Ruby, sounds like a profitable and good day! *appreciates anything John Piper writes* He's so solid!
Wup, just wanted to clarify something for Ruby ...
my sister's (nickname) is Poops or Poopsey. I began that when she was five and I was fifteen. (It actually began as Poopsey-Pie.) Now, at 42, she adamantly refuses ('though all in fun) that we call her by her real name,
*chuckles* I can understand why your sister refuses to be called that any longer!
Actually, I worded that in a confusing way: it should have read "Now, at 42, she adamantly refuses ('though all in fun) that we call her anything but her nickname". She loves us calling her "Poops" or "Poopsey" still. She's a very young (and wonderfully spirited) 42.
Cool about "Moonie".
Well, today (and yesterday) are scorchers ... very unusual for the end of May in our parts. I'll live ... barely. I told someone earlier today that this is what I look like ... or what I'd like to lie in.
EDIT: Has anyone seen Invictus? I watched it on the weekend after numerous recommendations and, sure enough, it lived up to the honours. 'Tis a true story of Nelson Mandela when he was President in the '90s and how he motivated the South African rugby team to help unite the country. Powerful performances by Morgan Freeman (Mandela) and Matt Damon (the captain of the team, François Pienaar). Recommended!

Good mortereve everyone!!
Hmm, let's see if I can get caught up in here...
*waves to Djaq*!
*waves back* Congratulations on being done with school for the summer!
I'm not sure how it starts either, but that sounds right. "Oh, I was going to call you, actually." I really have no clue if that's right.
We missed a little part...She says "Oh, Abigail, please.", and then he says "Abigail. Thank you for agreeing to meet with me.", then the line you said...I'll go ahead and do the next part since what I just said is irrelevant.
"Is there any news?" I think.
"No! *chuckes* Absolutely not!" Riley, at the beginning of NT1. (lol, I also often leave off a word to make it sound better

Good line! "Where have you been for the last few hundred years?" PC. (yeah, modified quotes work great.
)
Yeah, that makes sense. Otherwise, it's a pain to use.
Mmhmm, I prefer to just type it myself.
Ah, I'm glad somebody noticed.
How long have you had it up? And what made you think of it?

That made me laugh!
Djaq and flam, I think it's great you're both learning CPR! Let us know how it goes.

We took the class on Thursday the 13th, I think (it was only about 3 hours long). It went really well and we both passed. So we are certified now.

Yay! We're so glad to have you join!

Hey! Thanks! It's great to be back (for the part that I am back
). I'm doing very well thanks! And you?
I'm glad to hear that you're doing well! Are you really busy? We've missed you around here.
I'm doing really good, thanks! I'll be pretty busy in the next couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to it.
I must say your Avatar is very enchanting! It looks very good
![]()
Thank you very much! I like it, but I'm thinking about changing it.
I've made a couple more that I like.
*waves to Ali*
Congratulations!
I'm glad the class went well!
Heh, yes, sometimes it gets very very warm up here as well, although probably not as warm as down there. (The highest we get is generally in the 32-35 celsius range) Riding bikes is fun, although I must admit I haven't ridden mine in quite some time...
![]()
Thank you!
I hadn't ridden my bike in a while either, but I've gotten more used to it now that I've done it a few times.
The weather has actually been really nice down here lately! It was kind of rainy last week, but it's pretty nice this week. I hope that the weather is nice for the second week in June because that is when our church is having VBS and it would not be very good if it rained...It's a tiny church, so we have the kids eat and play the games outside.

Wowww! Yes, please spare me the details!
Greetings! Yes, the FE Student going back that quickly was rather unexpected.
As I didn't get to know him I wasn't too disappointed... I guess I don't like big changes like that very much, so I suppose I'm happy that it's just "our family" again...
I guess I was never gun-ho (is that how you spell/say it?
) for the idea anyways. I suppose I figured once he came I would get used to it and like it--but he never stayed, so I never had to. I liked him, just not really the fact that he was disrupting my nice comfort zone.
Yeah...
Oh, and this Tuesday I'm getting 2 cavities filled... Hooray.

ATTENTION SQUARE ONIONS! If you are quoted in this post, you are referred to alliteratively, and most of the adjectives are complimentary though some do not quite express what I wanted to say. It is a hazard of the English language, which does not have synonyms that start with every letter for every word. Anyway. Just thought I'd warn y'all.
*waves to Mel* How are you doing of late?
Quite well, thank you! Yourself?
I'm always more than happy to share my opinion on a movie or score (if you haven't noticed yet
).
Well, yes, I had noticed. But it's always a pleasure to listen to your informed opinions, so it seems to be an all around win-win situation.
*wants to see the new Robin Hood movie*
From what I've seen, (which is very little, only pictures and the odd news story here and there), it looks rather gorey and over-realistic... (In other words, if you do see it and review it somewhere, please let me know so I can read it and go, "Ah." )
you will very much like my brutal/snarky Drinkwater review - once I finish it, of course
I'm sure I will. It will be Very Enjoyable, I'm sure. Also, I had also assumed that the production would be the musical until I was informed otherwise, so I was particularly careful to make sure I stated the difference.
*Apologizes for the random post and departs*
Wait! Don't you want to hear our answers? I'm doing quite well, myself. And how are you? Busy, I assume?
at least I can participate in the music camp.
Oh, I'm so glad!
Mel! I haven't seen you in a looong time on the Square. How have you been?
I haven't seen you in awhile either. It's nice to have you back. I've been busy-ish. We did photos for a dance studio awhile back and I'm about ready to be done with their orders.
I'll be spending next week with my grandmother and helping her do stuff around her house. How about you?
A coincidence, too, that the cashier specifically mentioned Dark Crystal when she saw I had Labyrinth in my hands.
Weeeellll.... they are both Jim Hensen productions, so maybe it's not that coincidental. At least, I hope that's the biggest point of similarity.
your poems clearly show it. (show that you ARE, not that you aren't.
)
If you say so.
That's kind of odd. Marvin would always show up in doctors offices with about half a gazillion extra pages advertising a magazine or buy a book and get some free or something like that... It's so much nicer to read a regular copy.

Hello hello,
I previously lost a post which was quite a bother, so I decided to do it later. And, hey! It's later!
My word, the weather's been Amazing with a capital "A". So warm. So toasty. Mmm.
Well, I'll catchup:
Hey ho, CSLN. I am embarrassed to say I have yet to see Ratatoullie. I gather you highly recommend it?
Hello there, Jo! Ah, Ratatoullie, it was a good movie. Funny, touching, and makes one very hungry. Yes, I do recommend it Especially if you like cute rodents, cooking, and fun music. Do tell me how you liked it if you see it.
No, I don't think so. How are you?
I am well thank-you. You can call me CSLN, CS, Ella, or anything you'd like to call me.
@ Ella. I've also heard/seen those films plus he did the music for Star Trek (2009). Yes, I've seen the end credits to Ratatoulle, though it's been awhile.
Ah, I see. Hehe, I love the credits. If you don't mind my asking, what is Star Trek? My Sunday School teacher was telling me that I might like it, but I haven't the idea what it's about.
*waves back* How are you? And how was your retreat?
I am good thanks! Oh, the retreat was alot of fun. We were looking after a few kiddos, so we went outside to play during the day. It was very lovely! Alot of picturesque scenery. How've you been?
Is that so?
It sounds like it was fun!
Mmhmm, I thought the fabric that they used was really cute! (and the pattern itself )
What has been going on with you lately?
It was an adorable pattern and fabric. I adore little things with berries and such. Eh, nothing much's been going on. School ends in a week or two...or three.
But, summer's definitely something to look forward to. Activites, reading, warm weather, reading, messing around with cooking, reading, and enjoying the joy of it all...did I mention reading?
What about you?
*waves to CS* How are you?
I'm doing well, how about you?
*waves to Ella* Hey! How you been doing?
Hey there Benjamin. I've been good, and you?
*waves to Mel*

*Cor and Vern enter the Square for a second time today for yet another catch-up post*
Mortereve all! Guess what? I ordered 3 soundtracks with my Amazon.com gift card this evening!!!! Yes, I'm a bit excited...
The CD's are:
The Mission (1986) Composer: Ennio Morricone
Predator 2 (1990) Composer: Alan Silvestri
and Jurassic Park (1993) Composer: John Williams
-----------------------------------
I'm quite excited to finally be getting these three albums.
*Cor and Vern take their seats at the fountain*
Alright, time for a catch-up post..... again.
-------------------------------
@ QueenSusan. Life. Actually, just a lot of different things that I won't bore you with at present.
Currently, I'm quite tired from a day full of housework.
@ NN. Thanks! I thought it was and everyone that I've talked agrees that it's a good plan. So, I guess it is.
Yes and it's the only score that earned him an Oscar.
Yes and it's only slightly better than Titanic. Basically Avatar is "Horner's Greatest Hits" with pretty much everything he's ever done thrown into one score.
I did a review of it on my Blog if you are interested.
@ Ruby. Thanks! I hope so too. Hopefully I can find a job that I will like.
@ Jo. Production wise and of course score wise the films are AMAZING adaptations of Tolkien's work. It's just the characters and various plot points that they ruined. And yes, it could have been way worse.....
Beware the musical numbers with David Bowie!!! Besides that, you might like it.
*Oh yes! Cor just mentioned that to me. I'm afraid I completely forgot about it... Vern goes to retrieve his snack. Fishssss!!!!
Thank you, miss Jo!

Sorry, it just happens. (All of the above!
)
I'm sorry, then, for your sake, Vern, but he seems a hopeless case...
I don't think we've seen The Quiet Man or Help!, but I remember you mentioning The Quiet Man in the chat room once.
*Ah yes, I've come to that conclusion on my own months ago....
*
They are both really good movies. Help! stars the Beatles, but even besides that it's still a fun comedy on it's own right. The Quite Man is more drama with comedy thrown in. You can ask Destined's opinion on it if you want, she's seen it as well.
*sits back and watches as Cor and Vern quote back and forth* "You 'bout done?" (Sweet Home Alabama)

Well... er, kind of, sort of, not really. On Occasions.
Wowww! Yes, please spare me the details!
I shall.
@ Mel. Hmm, so I'm "courteous", eh? Never knew that...
Why, thank you! That was very kind of you. I'm glad my opinions don't bore you to death.
@ Ella. Hmm, how to sum up Star Trek... It's like an old sea fairing novel but in space. At least that's how one of the film directors summed it up.
It's the story of the crew of the Enterprise and all their various adventures as they travel through space. Usually landing on a planet and having to deal with aliens and their problems (which in old 60's TV show were pretty goofy looking. The aliens that is ).
I hope that answered your question.

Alright, time to head back to the castle. Goodnight all!

oh I just saw one of the most wonderful movies EVER!!! It was called The Star of Bethlehem and was about the star patterns at Christ's birth and His death. It was absolutely and awesomely mind-blowing! I was crying b/c I was so amazed. One of the best movies I've ever seen! It's just sooo sooo sooo...idk. I'm speechless. It's now my third favorite movie, the first being The Passion of Christ and second End of the Spear. So now LWW is bumped down to 4th . Anyway, here is the website for the movie. I really hope you guys check it out b/c it can really just change your faith and perception of God. It's just amazing.
Blessed.
And wow, 5 years is a long time.

I've had quite a few cavities, even though I brush my teeth twice as much as any of my siblings, who have had basically zilch cavities.
haha yeah I brush my teeth at least four times a day . But today I had a very painful visit at the dentist. I got some bonding done and I guess that process involves freezing your teeth off
. Very painful.
@ Ali. I stand corrected..... That's bad.
I hope that scenario doesn't happen to you...

me too. It happened to one of my friends- he was two credits short and he had to do a whole other year of school! I felt so bad for him .

Um, well this is my first time. I just started The Two Towers. I do find it very interesting but it's a book that I like to read slowly. Haha me too .
Hmm, lucky . I need to concentrate more on my school work, b/c I would really like to graduate early, not b/c I don't like school, but just b/c I would like to ahve time to do other things.
Ali, I'm sorry about the play. But I hope that you get into the musical next time!! Scrooge is such a fun musical. My family and I went to Branson one Christmas and saw Scrooge at Silver Dollar City. It was very amusing. I love musicals.

Thank you . Yes it is a very good musical, I've seen it twice

Well, politics wasn't what I had in mind (I'm don't understand them very well either), but what do you think about dating vs courtship? Micah wasn't interested in talking about this .
Actually, no, GtG, I don't ride. Well, I've ridden a few horses in my day, but I don't have a real interest now.
haha ditto . So, how are you?

Gooooooood mort'reve, everyone! Hope you all had a lovely Thursday!
I went in for a follow-up interview with Chick-fil-a yesterday morning and walked out with a job!!!!!
The process has taken so long because they were considering whether to hire someone who will likely not be there long-term. And even though I couldn't definitively tell them if I'd be there next fall, they've decided to give me a chance anyway.
I'm so very grateful and insanely excited!
Ketchup ahead! (How did I get 7 pages behind? Aack...)
Good! Ah, you're graduating this year? That's awesome! School will be out for me in about 3 weeks, but I'm finishing some classes sooner.
I am indeed! I'm very excited; it's going to be sooo nice to have everything finished. Since you wrote this about two weeks ago, I'm guessing you're nearly done, then? That's great!
And I love when classes finish early and you get to start shedding them.
EDIT: I see you posted you're done! Hurrah!
Haha, I was just wondering how long it would be before football came up again! Unfortunately, no, I didn't get to watch any (I would've liked to, though), and despite having kept up with football news for the most part, throughout the offseason, the only draft news I know is that Tim Tebow went to the Broncos, which I'm sure you're very excited about!
Oh dear, are we that predictable? Maybe it's time to move on to...cricket?
Ah, I see. The Patriots had a good first few rounds; they got quite a lot of defensive help, which was definitely their greatest need. I'm looking forward to seeing how that works out next season!
And I'm very excited! All the moreso because I was completely shocked that they picked him.
It'll be interesting to see how he does, though; the Broncos offense is quite different from what he was running at Florida.
Ah, cool! Have you seen all three seasons? I've only seen Season 1, but plan to watch 2 when I get the chance. And, definitely not Season 3, as I'm sure you will attest is a good idea.
Well, Allen's my favorite character. And, I really liked Roy, for the three episodes he lasted. And, Guy's a pretty interesting character to watch, and see his inner struggles, and such.
I've seen both 1 and 2, but I've only seen about half of Season 3, plus the finale. I couldn't force myself to watch anymore.
So yes, skipping it is an excellent idea. I hope you can watch season 2 soon!
Allan's great, isn't he? He's so funny, especially when he's "not being funny". How much do you know about season 2? I'm wondering what I can safely say about Guy.
*sends a wave and a hug to NG*
Hey, that's cool about your interview with Chick-fil-A! I have a friend who works there and really enjoys it.
Thank you! I'm sure I'll really have fun working there!
My family's almost as excited as I am. I think they're expecting free milkshakes.
By the way, aren't you a fan of Shannon Hale's books?
Oooh, cool! I shall definitely be praying! And I hope you get the job! The Food Industry is fun one in which to be employed! *polishes shiny "Official Member of the Food Industry" badge* Ahem. Let us know how it goes!
Thank you so much for your prayers! *points to top of post for results on the job*
And it most certainly seems like fun! I'm looking forward to it! May I ask what restaurant you work in?
And ooh, we get badges? That's a definite plus...
I have been pretty good, thanks! & Thank you! Yes, I really do like that version of Mansfield Park, I think it was the best one out of the two I've seen, even if the rest of my Austen loving members of my family think it was dry and boring. >_>
Ah, good! I'm glad to hear it! Which version have you also seen? And I would agree it's the best, because strangely enough, it actually follows the story.
That alone is enough to cover a lot of flaws, especially compared to the 2007 adaption. (I'm not even going to mention the 1999 version.
)
What did you think of the way the various characters were played?
I've been mostly babysitting for other families, but last Saturday, I helped out with my nephews and nieces.
Yes! I am still doing a couple subjects in school, but I'm mostly finished!
I hope that you get the job at Chick-fil-a! It seems like a really good place to work! That sounds like such fun!
They must be getting so big!
And yay for being done (or almost there!)!Do you know what you're planning to do this summer yet?
Thank you!I did get the job (which is such a blessing) and I'm excited to start!

lol!!!! Have you seen "Oceans"?? Because that's exactly what they said! Only in different words. Haha.
Really?
No, I haven't seen it; I was more paraphrasing some...lovely old textbooks of mine (from public-school days).
So is "Oceans" worth watching, despite the cows and hippos?
Well... no, it's not really much better yet. We saw a hand specialist last Thursday, and apparently I partially tore a ligament. So I have to wear a splint for three/four weeks... which basically erases all hope of being able to perform the concerto. We'll see, though.
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that!
And how discouraging to not be able to play the concerto; could you perform it later? I hope the hand gets to healing and feeling better soon!
I'm good. And you? Well, actually, I ran out of time and we only have 28 pages....
I'm glad to hear you're doing well!
I'm good, thank you! And hey, you still did it! The point is to have that learning experience.
And fun.
What was the basic plot of your script?
I'm suffering from my outdoor allergies now
Aww, I'm sorry.
I know how icky those are; my mom and sister are both allergic, and they have a terrible time in the spring/early summer. I hope you start getting some relief soon!
![]()
Oh good I love his music! I am known for having a huge load of favorite songs, so prepare yourself
Hehe, I guessed!
And ohhh my, what a list.
I love your enthusiasm! And thank you--now I have plenty of titles to try out!
![]()
So if you had to pick three favorites of his, what would you choose?

Graduation sounds exciting!! Is this high school or college graduation? I assumed high-school. I'm finishing up school as well, only I won't be graduating for two more years. I've been a little stressed with trying to figure out schedules and school plan for this summer and next school year. But overall, it's been going really well.
I hope your graduation goes well! Are you looking forward to it?This is high school!
And thank you! I'm very much looking forward to it; it's on Saturday, so I'm nearly done! Only one...more...day!
![]()
So you'll be a junior next year? You're halfway done!Do you know what you'd like to pursue yet? And it can be very stressful trying to balance activities and such with school! I'll be praying everything works out well for next year!

*waves at Ella*!!!
Well, I have the pleasure of saying that I have read a little bit of CoK. Just a smidge though, as we were reading it at a bookstore. *sigh* Much patience is needed when it's being ordered at places.
I think I saw in the Books thread that you and Bella have both read it now? What did you think?
![]()
*waves to Ben*!! Hi there!
So, is this house painting you've been doing?
*also waves to Lady L* Hurrah for your last final!
Do you have summer plans yet?
*laughs at Glenstorm and Ben's
takeoverconversation*MissA, hello!!
It's good to see you back in here!
How are things going?
I don't think we even have a Square initiation.... Nasty things they are. Makes one late for dinner.
So no pool dunkings, then?
And yes, they do have that unfortunate effect, along with being generally nerve-wracking and uncomfortable. Thus the wisdom of not having one!
*gags* Yuck! That would be most disgusting and disturbing! Oh yes, cooked separately and at different times.
Phew! Good to know.
And oh my, disgusting doesn't begin to cover it. Although, might Vern perhaps enjoy something like that? It can't be any
worseless delicious than giant toasted ants, can it?![]()
More of a passive Merlin fan, but still a fan I suppose. I've only seen part of season 1 on youtube. I like what I've seen, though!
Ah, I see.
Do you have a favorite character from what you've seen?
I can't believe how quickly both Robin Hood and Merlin are spreading on NWeb.
There seem to be fans popping up everywhere!
*wishes she could watch BBC Robin Hood, but doesn't know where to see the previous episodes without having to buy them.* Any legal way? I thought someone mentioned that once...
You can watch them on MerlinJunkie's Youtube channel (I think he/she has both season 1 and 2). They're uploaded as "Leather Wonderpants".

I'd post a link, but I can't access YT on this computer.
And if someone already answered your question, feel free to ignore this.![]()
Friday we're heading out of town to a retreat. I'm really excited for that.
Was this a youth group retreat? How did it go?
![]()
I saw a picture of what the author thinks it looks like recently. It was very impressive, and if I remember correctly it was from the interior of the Library of Congress.
There's a picture??
Do you happen to have a link?
And the Library of Congress? Hmm, it's not what I think I pictured while reading the books, but I could see that.Mmm, malkah, how idyllic. May I join you? Looking east we have a lot of light pollution because that is where the biggest Ontario city lies—ugh. But in the west and north it isn't bad, and the south is really good because that's over the lake.
Of course! Grab your flip-flops!
It sounds like you have some good skies for stargazing.
And stars over a lake--how lovely!
I think we need a telescope smiley.*waves to Sweeet*
My next CD to buy is Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot.
Do it.
I'm not normally a Switchfoot fan at all, but that CD converted me.
And I've heard over and over again that it's one of their best!
*skimming...*
I have a piano recital tomorrow evening, which I am really nervous about...
How did it go? I'm sure you did wonderfully!
What piece/pieces were you playing?
Oh, and a random fact for anyone who is interested in: If you live to be 80 years, you will have slept 15 years of your life.
I didn't know that--how interesting! And yet we're still so sleep-deprived.
Did you also know that right-handed people live longer than left-handed?
[/equally random and unrelated fact]I'm tired. Maybe I should go to bed. No, I think I'll post.
Good for you!
I think neglecting sleep (in moderation) to post is in the SquareOnion job description somewhere...
Another thing I REALLY like is cilantro! Mmmmm. I've met (outside my family) one or two people who love it as well. Now that is sad.
I LOVE cilantro! Especially in burritos and salsa, yum.
And only one or two? That's terrible!
Surely there's more who only don't like it because they don't know what it is and that they've eaten and liked it, so they would like it if they knew that.
...I don't think that sentence made any sense.*laughs at the Ruby-Winter hour of chemical insanity*
I'm out of school!! and.... finished with highschool..... FOR GOOD!!!
Hurrah!!
That's fantastic! Congrats!
I can't remember if you've told me before; do you know what you're planning to do next fall?
*waves to lysander*
Does anyone besides myself have a love-hate relationship with the topic review box?
Back when I was still getting the hang of it, I'd constantly forget that you have to scroll up instead of down and thus write my posts backwards.

We had "English Country Dancing" on one of the nights, and various other activities throughout the three days there.
How fun!
I'm guessing this is Jane Austen-style dancing? Or reels and minuets and such?
*would be rather disappointed that she isn't mentioned in Mel's alliterative post, except that the majority of adjectives starting with M or Mal are rather unpleasant*

G'mortereve to all you SquareOnions!
It went really well and we both passed.
Excellent! Particularly because it would have been quite sad if one of you had passed ... and the other hadn't.
*begins singing again "Kleenex knows noses like no one knows noses; Kleenex knows noses ... best".
Just thinking how this would look if the homonyms were mixed up such as "Kleenex nose knowses like know one nose knowses; Kleenex nose knowses ... best". Speaking of which (and I think we did this on the old forum's Square), try reading this:
Arocdnicg to rsceearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer are in the rghit pcale. Interesting, hmm?
*laughingly loves marvelously magnetic Mel's amazing and awesome alliterations arranged in such an audibly artistic array*
Weeeellll.... they are both Jim Hensen productions, so maybe it's not that coincidental. At least, I hope that's the biggest point of similarity.
Oh! Didn't know that. *nods* Guess it's not so much of a 'co-inkeedink' after all. That word, by the way, comes from an old Psalty tape, lol.
So, both you and PrinceCor 'warned' me of the David Bowie songs. Well, this should be interesting, then.
Awww, CSLN, sorry to hear of your lost post. That's a d.r.a.g! (If you use Firefox, get "Lazarus".)
Especially if you like cute rodents, cooking, and fun music.
I do; I do! Thanks. We'll hopefully rent it sometime over the next couple of months.
I shall be around finishing my chocolates. *ahem* Did I say chocolates, I meant chocolate..
Aha! Freudian slip. The truth will out!
*is excited for PrinceCor's excitement for his new soundtracks to arrive* That must have been a lovely, substantial gift card!
Production wise and of course score wise the films are AMAZING adaptations of Tolkien's work. It's just the characters and various plot points that they ruined.
Yep. *sniff and weep* Not all the characters, but unfortunately some of the main ones. *coughAragornGandalfFaramirThéodencough* *weeps silently, then bursts into sad sobs* Having said that, I still enjoy watching those films (fast-forwarding certain non-canon parts), but love The FotR the best, as it is the most faithful to Tolkien ... especially The Shire. ♥
Vern goes to retrieve his snack. Fishssss!!!!
You sound a bit too Gollum-ish there, dear Vern.
*enjoys the banter and creative names between Djaq and PC*
GtG, I have heard of The Star of Bethlehem and hope to see it someday. stargazer has shared some really interesting and knowledgeable thoughts on this at times.
malkah, loverly to see you again! Fantastic about your new job at Chick-fil-a! Congratulations! *gawks at malkah's ketchup post*
My family's almost as excited as I am. I think they're expecting free milkshakes.
I love milkshakes ... vanilla only, though.
Of course! Grab your flip-flops! It sounds like you have some good skies for stargazing. And stars over a lake--how lovely!
I think we need a telescope smiley.
*grabs her flip-flops and joins malkah in the most glorious activity of star-gazing* Well, I wish we were right by the lake—we're a few blocks away—but the sky is nicely and noticeably darker that direction ... so lovely! I agree about the telescope smiley. ;))
except that the majority of adjectives starting with M or Mal are...rather unpleasant*
Except ...
marvelous,
magnificent,
magniloquent,
matchless,
meaningful,
meek,
memorable,
merry,
meticulous
(avoids the 'mis-' part of the dictionary under "M" ),
modest,
moral,
motivating,
and munificent.
From only knowing you online through your always-interesting posts here in the Square, I'd say many, if not all, of those adjectives apply to you.
We may be going to see Oceans on Sunday. It's heading out of theatres here, but I would love for my parents to see it (as well as me ): I'm a big lover of the sea and its creatures.
malkah, pardons if I have asked this already, but are you in high school or post-secondary?
Also, you mentioned Robin Hood and Merlin. The latter has a Special Feature just begun in the Spare Oom; the former is to have an SF opened on the subject in a few days.
Did you also know that right-handed people live longer than left-handed?
I did not know this. I am right-handed, as are most in my family, but my mom and our youngest son is *gasp* left-handed. Well, mom is 82 this year, so ... prove the stats wrong, mom!
Surely there's more who only don't like it because they don't know what it is and that they've eaten and liked it, so they would like it if they knew that.
That sounds somewhat akin to Bilbo's famous birthday party line ...
Well, good Friday to all, and have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend to all our US of A friends!

Mortereve!
Aww, I'm sorry.
I know how icky those are; my mom and sister are both allergic, and they have a terrible time in the spring/early summer. I hope you start getting some relief soon!
![]()
I have thank you . My mom bought me some homeopathic allergy medication and it's been helping. Last year I took Benadryl but it just completely wipes me out and I'm way too tired to do anything. Plus it's not natural. But now I'm good
.
Hehe, I guessed!
And ohhh my, what a list.
I love your enthusiasm! And thank you--now I have plenty of titles to try out!

Haha and it would be longer now- I have two more CDs! Ooh yes listen to them! He's really really great

THREE?!?! Ok I'll try...

oh that was soooo hard! But I think those would probably be my top 3

haha when we're both on, we're pretty good at taking over the town square
Good for you!
I think neglecting sleep (in moderation) to post is in the SquareOnion job description somewhere...
Hehe most definitely . It can be very time consuming to post in this thread
.
*would be rather disappointed that she isn't mentioned in Mel's alliterative post, except that the majority of adjectives starting with M or Mal are...rather unpleasant*
ditto, minus the "m" adjectives, seeing as mine would start with "a" or "g"
GtG, I have heard of The Star of Bethlehem and hope to see it someday. stargazer has shared some really interesting and knowledgeable thoughts on this at times.
You should try to watch it sometimes- it's really amazing . Really? Does stargazer ever post in here?

Good mortereve, GtG!
stargazer comes in here periodically, and it's always good to see him. I enjoy listening to and learning from his wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly in matters of the sky!
A clarification: Btw, the "at times" referred to his periodic mentioning of this subject, not that he was only interesting 'at times'. Quite the opposite!
*pokes 'gazer to come on over to the Square before she takes a dive into the Ditto Pool, nabbing a chocolate from the chocolate tree mid-dive* Ahh, delicious and refreshing!

*waves to Mel*
*returns the wave(s) with interest* It sounds like you have some exciting plans for the summer, with plenty of my favourite activity: reading.
Hmm, so I'm "courteous", eh? Never knew that...
Well, that was one where I had been feeling rather pleased at the aptness of the description. But then, people describe me as sweet and I'm not sure where they get that either.
*waves to Djaq and Mel* How are you two?
![]()
Quite well, thank you! I, too, am reading The Two Towers (which is my favourite volume of the three)... but I've been reading it since April, which is a stark contrast to Fellowship of the Ring which I finished in two days this last read through. I'm blaming it on the fact that I can't decide whether or not I like having the MindsEye actors voices for Frodo and Sam stuck in my head while reading. (Which, I'm sure I've mentioned before, but it is a great almost-word perfect adaption once one gets done laughing at the cheesy 70's magic sound effects. Oh, Aragorn! Oh, Éomer! Oh, Théoden who is so confused he doesn't know how Éomer and Éowyn are related to him...
) Anyway.
*is slightly disappointed that jo rose to the challenge of finding pleasant 'M' adjectives, because now she won't have to think of one* But I will anyway, I think... just to be different. (for the record, the one I would have picked before reading the list is 'meticulous' )
There's a picture??
Do you happen to have a link?
![]()
Why, yes I do. Here 'tis. You'll have to scroll down a bit, but also included is a view of a Mycenaen cistern and Sounisian t-shirts
Congratulations on getting the job! That's awesome.
That word, by the way, comes from an old Psalty tape, lol.
Psalty the singing songbook? I had an LP of Psalty... and back when there was kids stuff on Saturday mornings, I'd hear the first half on the story where his pages get wet and he can't sing...

Jo: nice, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on it .

Quite the opposite!
I understood what you meant
.
Mel: wow you read TFotR in two days?!?!?
*giggles at the last part of Mel's post*
