Good evening everyone. It was a gorgeous day today. High in the mid sixties, sunny, slight breeze; it was fantastic.
ForeverFan. I'm sorry you have a cold, I hope that you recover soon. I meant to send you a PM yesterday in thanks for my birthday PM, but it did not go through. I apologize for not being more prompt with my reply, but thanks very much for the PM. It was and remains greatly appreciated.
Stwin and I attempted to build a bit of a fort when we were younger. It was a bit small, but served the purpose we had for it.
*waves back to Aiden* Thanks, it's good to be back, at least for a while.
Stargazer, that is amazing that ya'll have been without snow for a month. I'd send it up there if I could.
Yes, we have a Spring season which is when most people around here hunt them. We also have a Fall season, but local sportsman don't participate in it nearly as much.
I like underdogs, but not when they mess up my bracket. I am hoping for a Kentucky and Syracuse Championship game, or at least a game with Kentucky in it.
Only four days to the youth turkey season...DDDDDDD
They did drugs and they're all dead.
I went hunting and I'm still Ted-Ted Nugent
James 1:19-20"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God
Oh,it feels soooo good to be back again! *sighs contentedly* How have you all been?
Oh,and, btw,I learned a new hymn today! By myself! In under 15 minutes! Hehe,I can't wait to play it at church!
Ali: I'm so sorry you couldn't go!
Why not? Once I get a Cd,I'll just put it on her iPod. It' the easiest way to force feed good music to her.
Besides,I think she said it to annoy me more htan anything.
Read it! It amazing!
S&S is ok so far. But I'm only on chapter 5.
And "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing" and "Come Thou Fount" are good hymns too. I'm actually playing "Come Thou Fount" in a Hymn Contest next month...
Bother Eustace: Criminal Minds is...well,some episodes are better than others. I just like it because it's difficult to figure out sometimes. My mom says it's creepy.
How 'bout The Mentalist? I think he's hilarious!
Djaq:Aw,I bet having nephews are just like having little brothers. I've always wanted a brother. My oldest younger sister was never a good partner-in crime.
Ooh,fun! Do you enjoy cooking? I don't have much experience in the kitchen thanks to my mom and oft-mentioned sister(I really wih she would just join NW,so if nothing else,I could just call her by her username.
) who are both really great cooks. Btw,I have a recipie on my blog if you ever feel like trying something really new.
How's school been for you? It's been so-so for me except for english, which has been incredible. We're supposed to start Julius Ceaser soon!
Thakn you so much! I've been meaning to post another update, but last week seems like such a blur. Hopefully, one will be up by the end of the week.
Dani: You know,I seiously might ask for an electric keyboard...I used to think I wasn't good enough to be a music major, but right now I think I might just be able to do it.
I think dad's going to give me his truck, but I don't like having to make such wide turns with it.
The Potter's School? I've heard about it,but haven't looked it up yet. That's so neat about you and Kat!
So how have things been for you lately?
ForeverFan: Aw,thank you. I really need them right now. (I feel so bad for not posting another update yet.
)
Our snow is gone as well, but the weather is being...to quote an oft-quoted song: "bipolar". Some days,it's beautiful and sunny, others(like today) it's cloudy and rains a bit.
Ok,I think that's it. If I accidentally skipped over you, please tell me.
Hey ho!
Every time someone says "I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you" I'm reminded of a friend of mine who accidentally said it the other way around, with emphasis on the 'at'.
Oh my. "I'm not laughing with you; I'm laugh at you".
How are your chicken-poxy brothers today, Mel? I remember our kids almost living in the bathtub with lots of oatmeal stuff (supposed to—and did—relieve some of that terrible itching).
*waves cheerily to GtG, Fanny, and Aiden* How's that youth group newsletter faring, NN?
A TV weatherman last night noted we're close to a first in the over 130 years of records: a snowless March! Almost inconceivable as it's usually one of our snowiest months.
Wow, 'gazer! 'Tis similar to here, but I haven't heard yet how long it's been since we last had no snow in March. We often get some of our worst snowstorms in this month and yet the weather has been opposite this year: unusually warm and rather May-like. Very odd.
Ahh, thanks for the background of "The Cookies We Do Not Name", Ata. Fun times! And I'm glad you're watching the Bourne films. A few issues with language and brief sensual stuff, but thankfully those are in the minority. The story, itself, is fascinating, and I so enjoy Matt Damon's portrayal of Bourne. Another favourite character is Pamela Landy (played by Joan Allen); also Nicky (Julia Stiles). I hope you get to see the third one sooooon so the plot is fresh in your mind. *reads on a bit* Ah, I see p_o_n said the same thing.
I also want to read the books. My paramedic that I used to work with said they're way better than the films.
I've been quite curious about the books as well: I've heard they cut the sexual stuff way down for the movies—in the books, apparently, it can be quite graphic, as well as more. This is just heresay, mind you, but for that reason I haven't rushed out to borrow them from the library yet. But yes, rumours are that the books are very good, overall. If you read them, Ata or p_o_n, do let me know what you think. And likewise, will I.
I saw your photos on FB of the Trench Rescue course. Interesting!
Mmm, I do like your new avvy and sig. Thanks for all the work people like you and cep and a myriad of others do to "ensure everyone gets home".
Woohoo, what fun to read yours and Kingskid's conversation on the last page. Honestly, just like good ol' times on the old forum. Love it!
*reads through page 137 with especial interest*
Ah yes, Kingskid, turkey season approacheth! I hope you have good success, plus just a lot of fun being out in the lovely spring air. That's cool you're still playing your banjo when you can. Do you have a name for it, as Djaq and flam have for their mandolins?
Lady Amalthea!
A hearty howdy and hello to you, m'dear Royal friend. I do so love your posts.
Poor Vern, he had a cold? How does a dragon blow his nose, I wonder ... has he been nibbling any more of the King's slippers lately? Your poor tapestries, oh my. *watches the Lady leave the Square with rather bulging pocketses*
I always enjoy the clever wordplay and elegance with which you and your royal husband post, and it's a pleasure having all of your royal family here in the Square.
Ditto and double Ditto!
On the subject of pickles, I only like certain types: not dill, but thumbs up for bread & butter, gherkins, and the regular ol' kind (can't even remember what they're called, but they look like this. Oh, there's the name: it's simply "sweet pickle". Cute.)
In my gander for a photo of pickles, I came across some devilled eggs, which I make quite often in the summer. Vern, would you care to try some? Anyone else can help themselves as well, of course. Mine look pretty well identical to that pic. The trick with these little treats is to not use mayonnaise, but rather Coleslaw dressing. Much, much better flavour.
*chuckles at Kingskid's fish descaler story*
Whoa, Ata, that device is just plain ... scary. Kk's right: it looks like an instrument of torture from the Middle Ages.
Oh my, how I'm loving reading their banter and conversation late at night ... reminiscent of older Square times.
Yes, it is!
I told my sister what you call Spring Break up in Canada, and she laughed.
But it does make a little more sense, because it isn't a break at all. They assign a ton of "homework" and my brother is doing more reading than breaking. But I enjoy dinners with him.
Yeah, we laugh about "Reading Week" here too, 'cause to be honest, very little reading gets done. It's more like sleep in, ski, and snowboard week.
Unfortunately this year that same son had pneumonia during Reading Week, so that was kind of a drag. He's a very active person and it was odd to see him tired and napping so much of the time. Thankfully he was so much better ('though still weary) when classes resumed, after a strong course of antibiotics.
Well, do let us know how the Prom goes. April 17th. Not too far away.
I'm on NarniaWeb a fair bit, so maybe we just haven't been on at the same time for awhile. As for FB, I might pop on there a couple of times a week for a few minutes, but NWeb is more of a priority (and love) for me.
Wow! Its a day for the oldies (no disrespect by that term) to come back.
Glad you clarified that.
Hello GeorgieXOXOsmile. What a colourful post. It somewhat reminds me of Lady_Liln's very attractive posts. *spends a quiet moment missing L_L being here regularly*
Enjoy your cool lanterns!
Aw, Fanny, what a drag having a cold on the first day of Spring! and some special tissue for you.
Lark! Good to see you again. I've been wondering how you're all doing. I'm thankful God's watch-care is over you. Remember that no matter hard things are, God is working each situation together for good.
Enjoy this spring-like day (where I am, anyway). There is a nip in the bright, sunny air, which reminds me more of October. Thankfully our temperatures are much more seasonable now. And earlier when I went out for my morning jog before the sun rises, the ground was covered in a crisp frost ... lovely!
EDIT: Uh, pardon the length.

Mortereve all!
I watched episode 9 of Robin Hood last night. I thought it was an especially good episode, probably one of my favorites so far.
Haha yeah when she fell in the mud (or whatever it was
) I LOLed
. I thought there was one more scenario before that. Idk. Btw, do you mind if I call you Micah? That's your name right?
Yeah, that was great. Hmm, I don't think there was one before that, but I might be wrong...
No, I don't mind at all!
ok well you're a guy. But I am sappy, cheesy, and emotional so, I felt bad for him. I'm one of those ppl that sometimes likes the bad guys better than the good guys
. But at least you felt bad for Allan. I felt sorry for Djaq too
.
Yeah, I understand. Sometimes I like the bad guys better than the good guys, but this show has a way of making the bad guys absolutely awful! As of the last episode I saw, "Tattoo? What Tattoo?" I don't even like Guy anymore.
Anyway, yeah, I did feel bad for Allan and Djaq.
*waves back to Aiden* Thanks, it's good to be back, at least for a while.
Yeah, I hope you can stick around.
How's that youth group newsletter faring, NN?
*waves back* It's faring quite splendidly, thanks for asking. Last month we released a double issue which was twice the size, so I had to design the whole thing from scratch.

B/c his voice is so high! If she thinks Bryce sings high, wait til she hears Wes...hmm probably...I share an iPod with my sisters so my stuff is on their but they choose to relisten to their five CDs over and over then listen to mine
Haha ok. Maybe within the next year or so . S&S is more of a slow read. I think it took me a month or so. And it's a little confusing at first. But I like it- my third fave Austen
Oh yeah I like those hymns too. And I like "Be Thou My Vision" and "It is Well". Cool, I hope you win
Yeah, that was great.

Yeah me too
Ok, the next time I am going to the library...I'm definitely going to get it!

I haven't seen her yet, but we're heading out the door to do that. My Mom is staying out with them right now. I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I can!
I hope that everyone is having a marvelous day!

Yeah, I know. I used to like Guy a little, but really not much anymore. I mean, I do like him much better than the Sheriff... I don't know, he's not too bad...
So, what did you think of "A Thing or Two About Loyalty"? That's the one I just saw. I liked it a lot. But I felt bad for Much when Eve left.

Mortereve all!! Well, two exciting things to report on: 1. I got a hair cut yesterday! It's still long, but no where near as long as it was before. (will post a "before and after" pic if anyone is interested....) and 2. There is the possibility that I'll be ordering the "Legends of the Fall" CD later this week.
*There is no exciting news to report on from my position. Well, except for the fact that I stumbled upon a new lake yesterday. Can't wait to see how the fishing is there....*
Now that it's getting warmer I'll have to tag along with you on your fishing trips. If you don't mind, of course.
*I don;t mind at all. Just don't slip on any stones this time....

You're never going to let me live that down, are you?
*The Prince and Dragon take their usual seats at the fountain*
Alright, time for catching-up:
---------------------------------
@ Princess. Ah, my sister has decided to return to the Square! So nice to see back around, sis!
Well, they definitely succeeded in making the Bennett family look poorer than they were. I really don't see why they thought that was needed. It just detracted from the rest of the film. *mutters something filmmakers who really don't understand their source material...*
Yes, yes, I'm using quote boxes. Mostly to keep track of what my discussions with Djaq are since we usually post a week or more after each other. It was quite easy finding out how to format them.
A prom, eh? Never been to one of those and never been interested in them either.
@NN. I take it you listened to the piece titled "Once Upon a Time in the West"? That's technically Jill's theme, but it also could be called the "main" theme since it appears the most. Be sure to checkout "Man with the Harmonica". The coolest sounding theme I've heard outside of the Batman music by Hans Zimmer.
@ Gazer. I'd recommend giving The Village a chance. Even though I knew the big twist ending, it still surprised me in many spots. Just don't go in expecting the movie to fit nicely into one genre, because it doesn't.
@ Djaq.
Wow! Good for you!
![]()

I thought you would be proud. BTW, how do you add "So-and-so said" to your quote?
Surely you've rubbed off on him a little too, eh, Vern?

*stifles laughter as Vern carries out her wish* Ahem!
*softens a (very) little upon seeing the soaking (and angry) Cor* Vern, you didn't have to push him into the fountain! *hands Cor a towel and promises to...make him cookies or something to make up for it* Is that better?
*I thought you wanted me to push him into the fountain. Oh well, a little dip never hurt anyone. Right Cor?*
*the Prince, nicely dry know thanks to the fire, returns to sit on a bench near the fountain in a slightly better mood* Cookies would be much appreciated, Djaq. Though, you don't have to. Sorry for losing my cool, BTW, I just wasn't expecting Vern push me into the fountain....
Yes, and I think that the new version is really pretty, but I've always preferred the '95. Do you like the '07 S&S? I just watched it again yesterday, actually. (My Dad and brother watched it with me. )
Ditto, also I liked some of the camera movements in the '05 version, but that doesn't make up for the film as a whole. Yes, very much. It's one of my favorite Austen adaptations, actually.
*is looking forward to StudyMate making her way back here*
@ Jo. Yes, most of the time it's only a mild case, though sometimes it can get..... messy.
I figured it probably did. It just sounded too right somehow.
@ Mel. Just a quick left-field comment: It took me a good 10 minutes to figure out what your avvie was the first time I saw it. I finally recognized it from the "Alice in Wonderland" trailers....
@ Ali. Oh well, that's something I noticed first thing. *shrug* I don't think I ever had a rally good fixed image of what the characters should look like. I just know what they "shouldn't" look like. I hope you enjoy the 1995 P&P!
@ Ata. Ah, alright. I've never read nor heard of that book series....
*chuckles over Ata and KK taking up an entire page by themselves*
@ Fanny. Aye, they always are. Plus add in a little annoyance when you're trying to get them set-up. Life is still going quite well for me. I'm glad the weather is finally starting to turn spring-like down here.
@ Dajq again. Congrats yet again on your sister having the baby!!!
@ Rob. Hmm, you look familiar....
Anyway, welcome back to the Square!

Well, it looks like Spring has finally kicked Winter out the window. The sunny skies and warmed temperatures are going to hold through out my week, or so the weatherman says. So now you know why I'm smiling.
Just a bit of catch up to do...
That's a tough choice, I like them all, but I think Allan-A-Dale is my favorite. Not sure why, he just seems kinda cool. I love his accent. Who's yours?
Interesting choice...Allan is just an interesting character. Hmm...hard question, because mine keeps changing after I watch different episodes. At the moment I think I like Will; he's so quiet, yet he brings a certain strength to the gang. I also like Guy because he is a dynamic character and it cool to get inside he head, hard as that may be with all the screen writers disagreeing about his character.
Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun! Hope it goes well for you.
Thank you, I'm sure it will. While were on the subject, Sweet is also thinking about working with the same film group as I. She lives close to me, though we've never met, and it should be very interesting, if she does get to work on the project, meeting her in real life.

*Gasps* You wish to touch the hand of a Royal!? Glad to finally met you officially. Is Glen an acceptable nickname?
Another favourite character is Pamela Landy (played by Joan Allen); also Nicky (Julia Stiles).
I agree, those two characters are very refreshing, and I love Nicky. Did you catch the hint in the 3rd movie that Nicky was

Hmm, I had not heard that review of the books, but I will be sure to heed your warning as I read them. I got the first two (they are rather thick books) from the library yesterday and just began reading the first. So far it has the same language issues as the movies, but as for the rest I have not gotten into it far enough.
Yeah, we laugh about "Reading Week" here too, 'cause to be honest, very little reading gets done. It's more like sleep in, ski, and snowboard week. Guess that just kinda went along with making Lizzie have a crush on Darcy, making Bingley a dork, and totally ruining the costumes. Kinda fits, don't it?
A prom, eh? Never been to one of those and never been interested in them either.
Oh, come on! You get to dance with cute girls, talk with buddies, and eat all the food you want. What's not to like?
Got to watch The Blindside with my fam yesterday (we waited for the DVD because it cost a small fortune for all of us to make it into the theater). Great movie! I loved it, 1) because of all the football+family scenes, like the Thanksgiving one. Totally football day at our house. And 2) because of the Southern setting. Great accents!
Well, this is the second time I wrote this post...the first time my internest crash (Grr!). So I'd better run!

Good mortereve everyone. I hope that ya'll are doing well this fine evening, and that ya'll are asleep right now and not up watching a classic horror film as I am. We are currently viewing the Blog, and it is actually pretty good. Steve McQueen is always an actor worth watching, and to see the girl who played Helen on the Andy Griffith Show is pretty cool.
Thanks Jo. I hope that we have success as well, especially this weekend as we will be taking out a young hunter on his first turkey hunt. It is a blessing just to be out in the woods this time of year as the trees are beginning to bloom and the birds(turkeys included)are beginning to really sing. It is fantastic.
I do love playing the banjo, and am much better at it than I am at playing the Mandolin.
Flam and djaq have Mandolins?! Awesome! No ma'am, I do not name my instruments. Though if I did name my banjo, I would probably name it Salty Dog.😛
Don't get to sentimental Jo, I'm feeling old enough as it is.🙂

Yes... well, it was called "C'Era Una Volta Il West", but, yeah, that's the one I heard. Ah, ok, will do.
Hey, did you notice the latest news article? VDT will be in 3D. The last line of the article is reassuring... there won't be any corny 3D shots with things flying at the camera. That's good! From there, I think being 3D can only be good for the film, since that will make more money.
Yeah, he is.
Mmhm, it is a hard question. You know, I've never really liked Will all that much, I mean, I don't dislike him, he's just not that interesting to me. Guy is a fascinating character to watch. I wouldn't call him my favorite character, but definitely my favorite to watch.
Thank you, I'm sure it will.

Oh, that would be really cool! Have you ever met a NarniaWebber?
I like that one. It's the one with the big, long fight between Robin and Guy, where they're both so exhausted at the end that when one takes a swing at the other they both fall down. (found that somewhat humorous
) That episode is one of many where Robin Hood loses his mind.

Lovely Thursday, isn't it? (yes, that is a rhetorical question, no answer needed )
P_o_n, I hope that the Prom goes well.
Thank you, I hope you're turkey hunting goes well.
You know, I've never really liked Will all that much, I mean, I don't dislike him, he's just not that interesting to me.
His character gets a little more interesting as the show continues, but yeah, he normally isn't in much of the plots.
Guy is a fascinating character to watch. I wouldn't call him my favorite character, but definitely my favorite to watch.
Exactly. I probably wouldn't want to meet a guy like that in real life, but he sure is interesting on screen.
Oh, that would be really cool! Have you ever met a NarniaWebber?
No, I haven't...unless you count my sister. What about you?
Actually that's episode 8. I didn't personally like that episode too much. And it made me dislike Guy a lot more.
Man, I hate when I do that. I think I know exactly which show a person is talking about, then it turns out to be a different one.
Guess not much to catch up on today. Well, I'll be off. See all of you SquareOnions later!
Btw, anyone remember how we got the nickname SquareOnions? *remembers is had something to do with Cor and the SquareGirls *
