Why, thank you Dear! You're right as always. The time change isn't until next week.
Guess what Vern? We get to stay up an hour longer for our snack! How does that middle part go in the song about Mr. Kite that you were teaching me....

I'm glad I like them too

?
lol
Besides LOTR lol
Wings of Dawn
Crown of Eden
The Ranger's Apprentice Series
Wanderer of the Wasteland
A lot of Louis L'amour's writings
Believe it or not, The Anne of Green Gables books. That series is very well written!
The Shack
There is probably a lot more but I just can't think of them right now
*Waves a friendly wave to Queen Susan* Hey Queen Susan! How are you doing?
*Waves to King Lune* What did you have in mind when you wrote the word "Don't"?
Goodbye all for now..........

Cor, I believe there were also a bunch of Henson muppet creations involved in the movie as well (which would make a lot of sense if he was the director), but I didn't know Lucas was involved. I suppose 3 out of 4 isn't bad... it's above average.
Vern, most people don't like getting wet on a regular basis, which is, I believe, what I was referring to. Once in a while is usually okay. But I suppose dragons have slightly different customs when it comes to showing affection?
Wings of Dawn
Is that the Sigmund Brower series about the boy in the middle ages?

Yeah it is! Have you read that book?
What's your favorite book Mel?
And then what are many books that you like?

*enters square listening to the song "Sing It Out" by Switchfoot*
One of my favorite parts of this song, a thought that I definitely need to remember better than I do:
I'm holding on
I'm holding on to You
My world is wrong
My world is a lie that's come true
And I fall in love
With the ones that run me through
When all along all I need is You -Switchfoot
Well, today has been a very peaceful day. One that includes a lot of sleep (beautiful, in other words).
And so now, some catch up...
Actually, I've never seen it.
You should get Valia to tell you the story of my first Labyrinth avatar.
From what I've heard about it, it sounds like the sort of movie I'd like in theory since it's fantasy and involves a quest and mythical creatures and annoying siblings. Of course, the other memorable thing people mention when they talk about Labyrinth is David Bowie in tights. So.
![]()
I don't know why, but I started laughing really hard when I read this!! I guess I'll have to ask Valia to get the story!! Haha!! Anyway, it's a lovely avatar!
*gives Dani a
* I'd say something comforting, but I can't think of a few sustaining words. Hmmm. I think that sounds like something Rabbit or maybe Piglet would say, or want to have said. I hope tomorrow is better!
Aw, thanks Mel. It actually does remind me of something Rabbit or Piglet would say, which is sweet, because I still love reading the old classic Whinnie-The-Pooh stories.
*hugs back*
Oh I see, that makes a lot of since! Thanks
![]()
I think you mean "sense", right? Or is this a new word I have not heard of?
Dani: Yeah I'll probably be doing more literature too. It's the stuff like that that I'm behind in, even though I enjoy it the most, although The Iliad is kind of boring me right now
.
I enjoy the more literature oriented school as well. I'm not enjoying Rhetoric though, but that's more paper/essay/speech writing than literature reading. The Iliad? That book sounds familiar, but I don't think I've ever read it. I just finished reading Heart of Darkness for Rhetoric class and it was pretty boring too...well, not so much as boring as just packed with so many words that it felt like you were swimming through thick chocolate pudding just to get done. Lol
Aw, I'm really sorry you had a bad day, Ruby.
![]()
Thanks, Susan! I'm feeling much better today, due to sleep and the relaxing quiet...
@ Ruby. Ahh, that's where castles come in so handy. Lots of big rooms and hallways plus a massive kitchen with full staff plus Lady A.
![]()
Unfortunately I live in a hobbit hole (a very big one, for hobbits that is, but I doubt it would fit dragons), so Vern would have to sleep outside if you ever came over for a visit. Lady A seems to have the reputation of a very good cook!
Perhaps she could give us a sample of her cooking some time.
@Ruby: I'm sorry you've had a bad day today. I have those sometimes, myself. Today was very busy and I didn't get to do some of the things I really wanted to do, but, after all, tomorrow is another day! *theme song from Gone With The Wind plays softly - and briefly - in the background*
Yes, I believe that there comes a time when that's true for everyone. Yesterday was like that, I didn't get half as much done as I wanted to. But I always end days like that with the resolve to get twice as much done the next day! I hope this next week isn't such a busy scramble to get home work done.
And...I shall be off now!! Time to go eat dinner and then off to complete some Latin translation, then a book and bed...
God bless!

So... I've been doing some interesting things the past few days.
I've ventured out to make a blanket for myself (crochet)! I'm feeling really happy seeing it build up and stuff. *sigh* The joys of crocheting. Ah, and tomorrow is a huge, exciting day for me! I'm going to be an assistant director for a Spring show, so tomorrow's the first day *squee*. It's really exciting

Every time I think of a quote or witty comment to put here, the quote is not so spectacular and the comment is not so witty.
So me my older sister (Hannah) and my little sister and two little brothers went over to my grandparents and had a little fire in the yard and cooked some hot dogs and we had some potato salad and played a few games and had a good time.... So that's what I did this afternoon
Hey, Ben! I'm doing well, thanks! And you?
*must be off and go shower before bed* *yawn*
I'm doing good
I need a shower also because I was around a fire today.
*looks around* Ella! It's nice to see you around!
That's cool that you are doing a blanket!I have done quite a bit of crocheting but I think that I like knitting better. What do you prefer? Or do you just do crocheting?
Oh cool! (about being assistant director)

Mortereve all!
Here comes another flaw in our family (or at least some people think that it is a flaw
) We don't do certain grades, we just do what we don't know
lol.
Oh cool! We do a little history too but not too much. But some of my siblings just study it because they like it a whole bunch! But me I never liked it in times past so I never learned it much. But now that I'm a little older I'm starting to enjoy history a little more so I might start more studying on that topic.
I think that English and Literature is one thing that we have lacked that we needed to study a little more.
As far as the Bible, every once and a while my Dad tells us to do a report on a certain part of scripture but other than those rare times we don't count Studying the Bible a school class, but everyone morning (or the mornings that we don't have friends here or are going to church or getting ready for something) we have what we call "Family time" where my Dad or Mom teaches out of the Bible and sometimes they have us tell what we think about that part of scripture. But pretty much all of my siblings and I just read out of the Bible regularly for Spiritual encouragement or just strengthening ourselves in the word of God.
Wow, that's very interesting! Do you use any particular curriculum?
I'm not too fond of history, but there are certain classes that I have to take, I can't just say I don't like history and then not take it any more.
I love doing English. I'm a bit of a grammar geek, too, so I enjoy that. As far as literature... I like the reading part of it, but not analyzing the stories...
We wouldn't count Bible study as school either, except that the curriculum we use offers a really good Bible class, so we do it as a part of school.
I like snow too, but there is times of course when I wish it was not around lol but otherwise it is just so beautiful!

Hello! I'm going great, thanks! How are you? Have we even ever really officially met?
Oh, that's been in my sig for ages. It means Poor People Who Don't Know What They're Missing referring to those who haven't read the Chronicles. I don't even remember where the term originated.
True. Um, what do you do when someone has very little mental durability? You could do them serious damage! they might need years of therapy! You should be careful who chose to mess with test.
Well you see, if I find that a person has little mental durability then I ease off to cause no damage.
There's still nothing wrong with trying to make a better environment with cleaner air and water for people. But if you're trying to make the environment better simply for the purpose of preserving trees and bunny rabbits, then I think your perspective has been skewed a little. Environmentalists go overboard by striving to make the earth perfect again. I actually think it's interesting, because both Christians and atheistic scientists are striving for the same goal--perfection. But they're going about it in two different ways. Christians believe that the earth is corrupt, that man is corrupt, but that Jesus will come and make all things perfect again. They are striving towards perfection by trusting in Jesus, spreading his gospel, and awaiting his return. Environmentalists are driven by fear towards "perfection", but their struggles are completely without hope.
Only from a Christian world view can you keep a balanced perspective on the environment. Since Christians believe that God gave man the dominion mandate, they do take care of the Earth. But they do not go so far as to regard the Earth more than they do God or themselves, because they believe that the Earth was intended for man and man for God. But in the end, no man's struggles to improve the environment to the point of perfection will succeed. Because the environment was destroyed the day of the fall and will never be completely renewed until (as we've been saying) Christ returns!
I say, stop worrying about the trees, the bees, and the moose and start watching and waiting for the day Christ returns. If you really want a perfect environment, that's what you'll do.
![]()
That's a very good point! No environmentalist will tell you he's striving for perfection, though. But, they do think it's their job to keep the world together or it will fall apart. And, if there were no God, they would be absolutely right and I'd be eco-friendly too. But there is a God, and He's keeping the world together, and also controlling nature meaning that if it's beneficial for an animal to become extinct it will and if not it won't.
*chuckles at her monstrous sized thoughts on the topic* I really am having too much fun with this...
Hehe, it is a lot of fun. Maybe more interesting if we had disagreed...
@ NN. I'm not sure.... I don't think the picture quality of the DVD would be affected by digital film, though I'm not 100% sure about that.
I wanted to see Avatar when it came out (in either 3D or normal), but I've decided to simply wait for the DVD. May not be as impressive on a computer screen, but it will cheaper.
Plus it will be the ultimate test for the film: does it still look good off of the big screen?
Ok, I didn't think so either.
I've never really wanted to see Avatar... doesn't seem like something I'd like. I agree it's a good test to see if a movie still looks good off a theater screen.
You said you weren't following the VDT news too well, but would you have been worried had you read this article? I mean, it wouldn't be awful because you could still see it regularly, you'd just hope they wouldn't add any gimmicky shots for the 3D effect.
This is really random, but you mentioned Ennio Morricone in your entrance... have you ever heard Yo-Yo Ma's version of his song Ecstasy of Gold?

First, congratulations on your 1-year anniversary! *passes a plate of cookies to celebrate*
I checked Amazon.com, and I read Wings of Dawn back when it was split up into several much smaller books. I know I read Wings of an Angel and Forsaken Crusade (1 & 4) and I would have read more if the library had had more. (As a side note, I ran across the Robot Wars in the bookstore and was excited because I liked the Mars Diaries. So I started flipping through it and went... but... I've read this before? It's just the Mars Diaries repackaged! Not cool. Anyway...
)
I like lots of books. Fortunately, I made a list of ten I like recently.
1. The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
2. The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (which is the first book in a series without a name...)
3. Fallon by Louis L'Amour
4. The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley
5. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
6. Rewards and Fairies by Rudyard Kipling
7. The Lantern Bearers by Rosemary Sutcliff
8. Mountain Pony by Henry V. Larom
9. Tales of the Kingdom by David and Karen Maines
10. Bleak House by Charles Dickens
Anyway, it's a lovely avatar!
