*comes in humming "Healing Begins" by Tenth Avenue North*
Just finishing Persuasion. I like this movie but I think I could make a better adaption myself, but doesn't everyone after watching a book adaption?
FF: we actually ended up not doing it . We'll probably get around to it tomorrow.
There is alot of work to do. There have to be about 50-75 good sized branches all over the yard. So it should take us at least a half hour.

*Cor and Vern enter the Square discussing their most recent movie viewing..... Krull. Prepare for mini review by the Prince*
Well, this time I won't give a review here. But, I did just post a review in the Past Movie thread in SO if anyone is interested.... (hint, hint)
*Cor and Vern take their usual seats at the fountain*
Wow, a lot of people have been posting since I was here yesterday! Well time to catch-up:
-------------------------------
@ Ali. I wasn't able to see much of the BBC version (just the second segment), but from what I saw I like it. It was a tad confusing for me since I had not seen the first segment nor read the book at that time....
@ NN. Right and in that way I don't blame them. Still, it's annoying when they never release the pieces you really wanted....
For me it all depends on how it looks. There are some digital movies that still look fine, while others have a "fake" look to them. It's hard to explain. I think it will merely be that the DVD will look like what the film looked like in the theater, just with better picture quality.
Whenever they release a movie I'm really interested in in 3D, I'll have to give it a try. *would boycott 3D TV's..... *
@ Fanny. Well, you haven't missed much. Just imagine the theatrical cuts with even more cuts. It's not a pretty sight... Exactly! About a week ago I watched Predator on TV. Now this is a film that normally I would never watch, especially on DVD (ton of F-words, some really grisly deaths and gore). But, thanks to the TV edit, it was actually a fun movie to watch and I enjoyed it. Not a film that I would recommend to everyone even in edited form, but still WAY better than the theatrical cut.
Basically saying all that to say "Ditto".
The only changes for the Olympics that we made was being sure to have the evenings open for when the figure skating was on.
@ Winter. That would be strange indeed. I wonder how that would affect the medal count for the countries......
@ Lark. Yes, yes, I'm a judging before trying. Alright, I'll withhold the rest of my opinion on it until I've tried it. Is that better?
Thanks! It's nice being able to call it "mine" without having Mom or Dad correct me.
@ Jo. *Haha! No, no need to take up money for dragon clothes. As you guessed, my scales are technically my "clothes" and they work very well for all types of weather. *
They taste like sheep or at least that's what Vern keeps saying.
Aaahhh!!! Figure skating bores you?!?? First you like AVP and now this? Tisk, tisk, miss Jo, tisk, tisk......
It depends, sometimes he brings a few back but most of the time he simply eats on the spot. I don't blame him really, the fish are starting to get wise when they see what looks like a funny cloud come over the water thus making it harder to catch them.
Quite welcome, Jo. *bows* Just don't expect me to do it all the time.
doesn't understand the fun in this.....
@ Flam. I for one am looking forward to your catch-up post! And congrats on 1000 posts!!!
@ Ruby. Dragons have very large appetites. I guess it goes with the whole size thing....

Well, that does it for me tonight! Hope everyone has a pleasant night and a good Thursday!

^ Short tribute to James Horner (1953-2015)
@Ali: Let me know when you and your family watch it. It's so good! And it's not just for kids,it's for adults too.(please don't misinterperate that. There is absolutely zero mature content in that film.
)
Yes he does. I listen to some break up songs just as long as they're not too far-fetched. Like "Best Days of You Life" by Kellie Pickler(w/ Taylor Swift). I don't recomened that song to you though because I seem to recall that you don't like country music at all. But crazy me listens to almost every genre on the planet.
Well,I've always assumed that playing by ear come naturally. I mean,I'm not tone-deaf
but I can't just sit down at a piano and start playing something I've only heard once or twice near perfectly.
Two of my great-grandfathers played guitar by ear. They couldn't read music. But I know they're some people that play by ear and read music. Dos this make any sense?
Wow,that's immpressive.
The closest my teacher ever gets to being proud of me is when I can play a hymn out of the hymnbook that I've never tried to play before. Not so immpressive.
EDIT: btw,I saw in the musicians thread that you wanted to release an EP someday, and I just wanted to say...if you ever needed someone to do BGV's...please let me know?
*looks at Ali's location* Wait you're in the Apollo cabin?!?
I actually created a half-blood who's a daughter of Apollo, and I found this discarded charrie on a PJO role-play site, who is a son of Morpheus(who is probably my favorite greek god now.Never mind that

I probably haveOcean Eyes memorized with the exception of "Umbrella Beach". And a few of my favorite songs from Maybe I'm Dreaming and Of June.
Yeah,I saw in the favorite music thread that you didn't like the last 4 or 5 songs. I really like "Pull Myself Together(Don't hate Me)", "I need a Break...But I'd rather have a Breakthrough.", "Japanese Exchange Student"(but I'm a little biased with this one since I'm 1/8 Japanese

Really,FF? Wow, that's weird. Deja vu. I'm glad you and your siblings liked it.
Me and my sisters joke that the grumpy old man is going to be our dad one day.
Minus the part where his wife's dead though.
Ouchie,Pebbles. You know,I don't think I mentioned you in my last catch-up post,so I will now: How ya doing today Pebbles?
@PrinceCor: Yes it is much better. But I don't blame you. The first time I heard of it I thought it was disgusting too.
But Mama always makes me try her "experiment" recipies.
Oh,and I read your review. "Evil aliens (aren't they always evil?)" made me laugh so hard. Have you ever thought of getting a job writing movie and soundtrack reviews?(if there's anywhere in Archenland you can do that...)
Well, since you're staying out of the Owl City discussion I would like to inform you that a couple weeks ago while I was watching the NASCAR pre-race show(it's a tradition in my family during the race season. Go to church on Sunday morning,go each luch at granny's after, and then pile up in the family room to watch a bunch of guys with no sense of direction drive around in a circle.
)anyway,Styx was there and they sang "Renegade". I don't know if they sang anything else. It was pretty cool to watch them do it live though. And plus I found out that Dennis DeYoung was no longer lead singer for the band anymore
which I probably should've known already.
I had no clue that he went solo.
BTW, the other day I saw a DVD in Wal-Mart that had Taylor Swift and Def Leppard singing together. I almost bought it.
Shhh.... don't tell my granny I'm here. But she's probably fast asleep being as it's almost 1am where I am.
Do I spy Earel around hereabouts? *squeals* I've missed you, dear! Glad you could drop in! Come again soon, ya hear?
Who are Demi, Dasy, and Josy?
I know you weren't talking to me, but it's bugged me that when skimming through the last few pages, I saw no response to this inquiry. (or maybe someone did answer, but I missed it. in any case...)
They are the children of John Brooke and Meg.
Demi and Daisy (the twins, who's real names are John and Margaret, after their parents. In Little Men, Tommy Bangs, when introducing them to a new kid at Jo's school (Nat Blake), says that they call her Daisy, because having two Meg's would be confusing. and call him Demi, as in Demi-John, that "It's a joke, you see?") even make an appearance toward the end of Little Women. (though they feature much more prominently in Little Men)
Josy was either a baby in Little Men (so wasn't really around), or not mentioned until Jo's Boys (which is the book I started, but put down only a few chapters in, because it upset me for various reasons that I don't recall. maybe I should go back and finish it one of these days, but alas, I don't have a copy)
Oh, and I don't know why you're asking (at least in the case of the twins), because you saw them be born in the 1994 film version. (aka the one with Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Bale) Granted, I don't recall if they mentioned their names or not, but STILL.
Guess you're sorry you asked, huh?
(Little Women and Little Men are my fave books next to all seven Narnia books, and the Bible. So. yeah. Dangerous subject to bring up around me, cause I could go on for DAYS) Might be better if you just read the books, then you won't be lost or whatever.
Oh, and I've seen at least three film versions of Little Women. (I own the 1933, 1949, and 1994 version) I love each of them, for different reasons. And I'd rather not give a disertation on them right now. (besides, I have a sneaking suspicion I've mentioned what I thought elsewhere on the forum, long ago)
Sorry if this post made no sense, it's really late. And I haven't been feeling quite myself lately. I'll try to drop in again sometime soon. Later, people!
*drags self outta Square towards home and bed*
*enters the square listening to "High of 75"* This song always makes me want to dance and laugh and sing!!! Most Relient K songs do that though...
How is everyone doing on this beautiful sunny day?? Let me tell you that I am HAPPY today!! I actually got some sleep last night and feel really energetic despite the fact that I got to sleep at midnight and woke up at seven AM. But I'm just glad that I got some sleep.
It looks like the square is moving a bit more quickly! Which means that it's time for a little more catch up....
@Dani: Sure you can PM me.
Aahhh! You've got a quote from "Vanilla Twilight" in your sig.

Sorry for my over-enthusiasm.
I love Owl City. My favorites are "Cave In", "The Technicolor Phase", "The Saltwater Room", "Dental Care", "Meteor Shower", "Fireflies"(I know it's the uber-popular one,but I still like it), "On The Wing", and "Captians and Cruise Ships." I actually love pretty much all of the,but I didn't want to bore you with my long list.
I've only really listened to Owl City's album Ocean Eyes, but I want to get some of his other ones. If you asked me which ones were my favorite, I'd probably list every single one on Ocean Eyes.
I just love all the songs so much!!!
How's school going for you?
New room? Did you trade with someone,or did you move into a new house?
School's going pretty good. I have some catching up to do thanks to my cold, but it's not so bad and I'm surprisingly getting everything done quickly. I moved into the room where my sister JMoon used to sleep, with my other sister whom Moon calls Nerdlet. I'm trying to get my sister, Nerdlet, on NarniaWeb. But she's not sure if she'd really like the forums...
Earel Alquawen, you play the violin too? I just picked up the instrument after leaving it off for about five years, so I'm really rusty at it but I enjoy playing it a lot (as much as my family hates listening to me).
*waves back to Ruby* would you prefer I call you Dani?
I'm doing good, how bout you?
Whatever you like calling me works!! I really like both my nicknames, so I don't care. I'm doing a lot better now that I'm finally getting over this cold. How's school and everything been going for you?
Ah, okay! Do not worry about the vague description at all, I've encountered books just like that, well, in the hard to describe part. And what's hard is that some of them have been books that I've enjoyed, so I naturally want to tell someone else about them, but they would just have to be complex, so I have no clue where exactly begin in describing it, and as an added bonus they've been like Heart of Darkness, very hard to properly share about without giving away the entire thing... *shakes head* Yeah.
Yeah, most books I try and recommend to my friends I can just describe as "really good" or "extremely well written" but beyond that I don't get much. It's kind of sad, because it makes good books sound really pathetic.
Oh, you too? Hurray!
It is truly always nice to meet another person who also feels that way- it's hard for others who don't think that way to understand it, I think, and so when I tell others that I liked a certain bad guy (for instance, I liked Guy of Gisborne from the BBC Robin Hood, bad-ness and all, not because I was a fan gurl, but because of his internal emotional struggle between doing right and wrong) or was sad when he/she died, they've probably thought I was slightly, different, or something. And maybe I am.
I think if I could, and if it wouldn't get too already been done-ish and overused, I'd have all the bad guys chose the good side right at the end of the story, change before it's too late, so that they can realize they were wrong but also mend their ways.
Or something like that.
I liked Guy of Gisborne too until he turned good. I'm glad that they put a bad guy in BBC Robin Hood that actually had character. Like the Sheriff was just typically evil and greedy. He was hilarious, but very straightforwardly evil. Guy was a bit complicated, interestingly complicated. I felt kind of sad for him, especially
Dragons have very large appetites. I guess it goes with the whole size thing....
I guess that makes sense. But if Vern's so big, how do you fit him in the house, let alone the kitchen?

Do you not like Owl City? I understand if you don't like him. My brothers don't like Owl City...in fact, most guys I know don't like him.

I'm doing great! Thanks! And How about you? You having a good day?
@Ben: I'm doing pretty good. A little bummed at the moment since I won't be able to go to my grandmother's tonight though.
But other than that I'm doing great.
And yourself?
Sorry that you will not be able to go to your Grandmother's
I'm doing Great! Thanks

Oh, it's still winter. In fact, it's snowing again!
;)) Well that day they were, we have been slacking with school lately because our lives are really busy! Because we are about to move out of this house. But on other days we do: Spelling, Math, Essays, Geography, and maybe some Trivial tests.
Wow snowing! Well I guess that's not too crazy for some parts of the country...
Ben: Summer is my favorite season, but I still love Spring just b/c it means Winter is finally over

Yeah Summer can be some all depending on where you live.

Ooh, good idea!

A lot, I imagine. I wonder if they would come up with more kinds of medals? Like a brass medal, or a "platinum" medal (sorry, I couldn't resist poking fun of the men's figure skating silver medalist, whose name I can't pronounce let alone spell)
Wow, the square is moving really slowly.

Is yours a regular check-up or are you having something specific done?
Yeah, Leafs lost, Fanny. I with the coach of the Olympic Canadian team was coach of the Leafs. So, I'm curious: what is the team you'll be rooting for if the Leafs don't make it to the playoffs?
Whoa, GtG, I missed Lark's comment that the author of TLT wrote the film's script!
That's quite sad.

Congrats on having 10000 posts!!!
Uh, methinks you have an extra "0" there, Ruby-dear.
@ Lark: "Ike the Eyeball"! I do like that. My gracious, Lark, I thought you were older than 15. (That's a compliment, btw.) You handle yourself with much aplomb and maturity.
Besides, don't you think with four sisters my mental durability has been tested enough?
Ssshhh Don't let Valia hear you say that.
Of course, that could be a good thing, as it brings much stimulation to the ol' brain ... doesn't it?
Earel, good to see you in the Square!
Ruby, so glad you're feeling quite a bit better, and that you slept well last night. It comes across in your post, to be sure, as in ... lively!
Lark, I know what you mean. I've only seen UP once, but that first half hour, to me, was the highlight ... so emotional, all with very little said. Their expressions and love were so sweet!
Fanny, I enjoy melancholy sad stories as well. They go right to one's heart.
Pebbles!!! Grand of you to pop in. Sorry about your dryer-door-thumped red knee, though.
Aaahhh!!! Figure skating bores you?!??
First you like AVP and now this? Tisk, tisk, miss Jo, tisk, tisk......
Yeah, well, what can I say? Now, I wouldn't classify AVP in my top ten film, or anything, but I did think it was a fascinating story, albeit waaaay too gros at times.
Hey, Vern, get a load of this for your treat today! Whoooaa!
Haha, glad the fish are wisening up when they sense that 'cloud'. Their lives will be longer (and better) because of it.
Ben! That was sooooome post! And glad you're parents arrived home from Florida safely.

Yeah it does

¡Aquí no tememos no nieve! No pienso que vamos a tener más. Pero me gusta más que te gusta...
*Snorts* Right... Besides, don't you think with four sisters my mental durability has been tested enough?
Perhaps, but not by my unique methods.
Hey, I think this is a really good topic! It's one that I've definitely been thinking about recently. It would be really awesome if researchers could come up with a better alternative to oil usage, but there really isn't an alternative and the so called "alternatives" that they've come up with, such as solar and wind, don't provide the amount of energy necessary.
Environmentalists say that we're using up the world's oil supply. Do you think that they're exaggerating a little? I haven't done any extensive research on the subject, but to me it seems that they're exaggerating on how critical the amount of oil we have left is. What do you think?
Definitely! My grandpa and my dad are big into politics, and my grandpa especially likes debunking global warming.
There is a good alternative! Nuclear power is great! But for some reason nobody wants it.
Yes, they're extremely exaggerating. Besides, and this is what bugs me, in Alaska we have more than enough oil to last us longer than we need it. But they won't take advantage of it because of all the wildlife there. That's where environmentalists go way to far. And, think about it, don't you think God gave us enough natural resources to last until He returns? When we run out of oil, which I doubt we ever will, then we can find an alternative.
Any other illness, such as the flu, and I fall asleep just fine! But with the cold, I'm so congested I can't stop sneezing or coughing. I'm sooo tired today though, I'm sure I'm going to fall right to sleep tonight.

Yeah, I can understand that! Though there's not much difference between a flu and a cold, is there?
*waves to Pebbles!*

Yeah, I'll bet it is really annoying, but they have a reason.
Ah, I see. I can understand that. So we'll just have to wait and see how it comes out. So, would the DVD would be better picture quality if the movie was filmed with digital?
Let's see, the most recent one I saw was the new A Christmas Carol. Not the greatest, but the 3D certainly drew you right into it, and the animation was very well done!
Lol, I don't blame you.
Thank you for answering my question, Anna. You're right, no one had answered my question, though I assumed that's who they were.

Mortereve everyone!
Cor: you should finish watching it. It's quite good. There is a bit of "modern" added to it but I loved the cast and the costumes and just practically everything about it
.
Lark: I will. Hopefully it will be within the next month or so .
Actually I don't mind country. I listen to Taylor Swift every once in a great while. Most of her music is quite beautiful actually, I just can't stand most of the lyrics . Boy songs get a little old after a while
. I listen to most genres too, though the one I listen to the most would probably alt rock
Yeah that makes sense. I can't get a song down perfectly as soon as I sit at the piano, but within 10 minutes I should have the tune down, though chords and left hand accompaniment is a different thing
Sure, I'll call you up when I have some songs written . I actually already have a local recording studio I could do it at. Songwriting and time are the problem at the moment
. Btw, playing a hymn out of a hymnbook is impressive. I have more trouble reading sheet music than just playing by ear
. That's why I use chords most of the time. My church is short on piano players so everyone keeps pressuring me to join the worship team but you have to play the music write out of the hymnbook and um I can't do that
. At least not without a few days practice, per song
Yeah I love Apollo . That PJ randomness be cool
. A role-play? I've never done one before. It sounds neat. Too bad about it messing up the laptop. I'd like to make a story like that too. I've told my sisters countless times I wished I had come up with the idea of the PJ series
. It's very original. I just wouldn't go around telling people that the gods really were real
.
All of it?! I have hardly any memorized, but then again, I don't think I have even half of my RK stuff memorized (but I have allllllll their songs...except some old EPs) . I used to memorize stuff fairly quickly but I don't anymore. I think it's b/c I used to sit down and listen to the music and now I am on the computer or talking or reading or cleaning or doing something while listening to the music so I'm not paying attention to the lyrics
.
I said I didn't like them? I thought I said I hadn't listened to them . Well I like "Roses", "You Gotta Believe", "I Want Something to Live For", "Walls", "Pull Myself Together (Don't Hate Me)", "Of Men and Angels", "I Need a Break...But I'd Rather Have a Breakthrough", "Nothing Matters", "Japanese Exchange Student" (makes me want to hug him
), "Hey!", "This Is A Refuge", and "Light". So yeah, pretty much the whole CD
.
Ruby: School's been going pretty good. Besides having alot of it, it's pretty easy. I'm about halfway done with my Algebra 2 book, and I finished my Geometry honors a few weeks ago. I should closer to being done with my A2 book by now b/c I started in July, but I got a little "cocky" I guess and took too much time off, so now I'm behind
. What about you?
Ben: Yeah I imagine Summer in say Texas or Florida wouldn't be as nice as it is here, in NH. Once we went to MI during the Summer and it was still cold out. I remember going around (outside!) with a sweatshirt and jeans on
.
johobbit: yes it's really sad. It makes me dissapointed in him b/c the books were so good and the movie so bad. I hope he doesn't ruin any of his future books, trying to make them like the movie. That would be horrible.
NN95: Si a mi no me gusta la nieve del todo. Me gustaría que todos se fueran.
Wow I think that's the longest post I've done, without quotes

Yeah it gets pretty hot in Florida! Oh sometime I would like to make a trip to the Northeast States! We have traveled all over the US except the Northeast.
One of my brothers live in Colorado and where he lives (At 9097 ft) it is cold in the Summer too! But if I lived there then Summer would be my favorite season because in the Spring there's still snow!

*notices that Jo brought up the lemonade dream, which is still funny* And then there's the one I had in which Jo and I went somewhere with wisewoman, who was inexplicably named Karen. Ever had a dream where your brain is screaming, "But... but... but... that can't be right!"? Yeah. That was one of them.
Lady A, I think you need to sit down with your narrator and talk about bribes and why they are a bad idea. Or you need to have a very long talk with Vern. (Really, Vern, why do you pick on her?)

*skips in to the square and with a rather marvelous leap (marvelously clumsy) lands in the fountain*
*SPLOOSH!!*
That was exhilarating!
*shakes wet droplets of water from her hair and takes a seat beside the fountain*
Well, today has been absolutely beautiful!!! The sun is out and smiling, the sky is clear blue, and I've been loving every moment of it!! I hope you all are having just as an enjoyable or even more enjoyable day as I!!
And now, for some catch up!!
I'm getting better, along with some of my siblings.
I'm most glad that your day brightened up!
And I'm glad to hear that you're getting better!! Colds are no fun. Say hi to your siblings for me!
You're welcome! Yeah, you really need to finish that revision.
Ooh, good idea!
*smiles innocently* Yeah, well, it's good to take a little time when revising. The first part of the most recent revision I sent you was obviously written fast. Hence, I used the word "said" half a billion times. But near to the end, you could tell that I was starting to feel a little bit more creative. Not to mention, I wrote the end like a week after I wrote the first part.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing you soon (lol, I always see you )...and *gulp* our upcoming exam.
Uh, methinks you have an extra "0" there, Ruby-dear.
Methinks you're right... Let's just say that it was an early congrats...a very early one...
Ruby, so glad you're feeling quite a bit better, and that you slept well last night. It comes across in your post, to be sure, as in ... lively!
Thanks jo!! It's kind of funny that I'm so hyper today...I'm like seriously dead tired. I was having trouble staying awake in class.
I think I was just excited to be out in the warm sunshine for a change, to be able to put on spring clothes, and not be blowing my nose every five seconds.
Definitely! My grandpa and my dad are big into politics, and my grandpa especially likes debunking global warming.
There is a good alternative! Nuclear power is great! But for some reason nobody wants it.Yes, they're extremely exaggerating.
I think it's a little strange that there's a good alternative, but no one wants to use it. All the solutions today suggest that humans simply back off of the world, stop doing what they're doing, and everything will go back to normal again. It's really ridiculous. Global warming is obviously not happening. It was never proven true, but now it's been proven false. So they're calling it "climate change" instead.
Now that you mention it, I remember hearing a lot of controversy over the oil in Alaska. It was during the most recent presidential campaign, if I remember right. I'm sure that if they put their heads together, they could think of a constructive way to pump oil out of the ground and at the same time make sure none of the wild life was harmed.
The main problem is, most environmentalists are atheists and think that the world's going to end when we make it end. But in reality, it isn't going to end until Christ returns, which could be very soon or many years away. But either way, I believe that God's going to preserve His Word and His Church until that final day. I've heard a lot of scientists say that Christians just use this as an excuse to ignore the environment's problems. What about you?
Ruby: School's been going pretty good. Besides having alot of it, it's pretty easy. I'm about halfway done with my Algebra 2 book, and I finished my Geometry honors a few weeks ago. I should closer to being done with my A2 book by now b/c I started in July, but I got a little "cocky" I guess and took too much time off, so now I'm behind

. What about you?
Sounds to me like you're doing a lot of math!! I'm working through Geometry right now and I'm supposed to be working through Algebra 2 as well, but I don't think I'm going to complete Algebra until the summer. My schoolwork has been pretty easy too, but like you, I just have a whole tone of it. Sometimes I think that I would do so much better on my subjects if I didn't have to split my time between all of them. Other than Geometry and Algebra, I'm working through Biology, HS Latin 2, Classical Rhetoric 2, American History, and American Literature. All subjects are going pretty well, though I'm a little behind on Rhetoric now due to my cold. [/ramble]
*waves to Meltintalle* I have a question. Who's the lady in your avatar? I hope you're having a lovely day!!
*looks around the square and wonders where Libby has gone*
Well...I must be off now!!
God bless, all!
