Lark: really? But I thought

. It was an okay movie but it made me depressed watching it b/c they ruined such a good book... :(

There are four as far as I know. I've seen three of them, which have you seen? :)

Hey ho!

Well not completely for sure... But we are going to be moving out of this house and then we will get into the motorhome and go down to Florida and work then we will see if that's what God wants us to do... But yes I do REALLY hope that we move down there! We used to live there for 6 years and then we moved up here to Oregon... But we have not been able to find work up here so we might move back down to FLorida.

Ah. Well, prayers are said for you all! You're home-schooled, yes? Which is very handy at major moving times like this, I'm sure!

Maybe it's actually a good thing we all won't be in one room watching the Gold Medal Game, after all, we may be rather outnumbered and all

We might be outnumbered, but you and I would out-yell them :)) ... especially on that Sudden Death goal Sunday afternoon! :D

Aww, Ruby, you sound icky sicky. (Glad it isn't strep, though.) These should help you (and your nose) feel better, though! And this should feel yummy in your throat (and tummy). :D

Okay, I have a plan since Winter says she doesn't get hardly any PMs: Inundate her with Personal Messages! ;))

Queen Susan, I like the name of that Chinese restaurant: The Panda Express. ;))

Hopefully we can finish strong with a win against Canada tomorrow afternoon.*apologies to the Canadian hockey fans residing in the square*

*ahem* *ahem* ;)) No apologies necessary since the, um, result was rather different than, uh, what you said. ;) Really, that was a wonderful game and congratulations to both hockey teams for some solid and excellent playing. Both goalies, especially, were phenomenal!

Whoa, Glenstorm, that's some storm! I'm glad you're okay, but it sounds like there's a good bit of tidying up to do on the town's part. Stay safe!

I saw The Lightning Thief on Saturday, and it was okay, but not great. There were some really silly parts and some sensualness in it that was unnecessary, I thought. But you're right: the guy who played Percy Jackson was very good. Now, I haven't read the book, so I don't know how it compares, but I trust what both GtG and Lark said on this aspect: poor adaptation. Pity, because I love the Greek myths ...

I get to disect a fetile pig today!! :D I'm so excited!! :D :D Yes,I do enjoy cutting open dead things. :P It's quite fun!

I loved dissecting in school as well. We did a lot of it in grade 13 Biology and I was fascinated by it. Enjoy!

Cool about you enjoying etymology, Lark! Words certainly are fascinating! Do you think you might become a philologist, like Tolkien? That's more linguistics, though, isn't it? He was fascinated by words too, though. And those two streams of study are very intertwined.

I hope you can pursue your French study again some day. It's a fun and interesting language. In Canada we all have to take it from grade school on, and we have many French Immersion schools where English kids go and are taught ... in French, immersing them quite fluently in the language. They graduate from high school completely bilingual.

A hearty Congratulations! on your excellent grades. I have little doubt that you will average all A marks at the end of the year. :D

Very unfortunate that both the women's and men's hockey teams lost to Canada, but at least they each got a silver.

Huh? Very unfortunate? I beg to differ. ;)) (Guess it really does depend on which side of the border one is on. ;) ) How cool about your city having a silver medal residing in it! :D

But I used to use a translator back then. Now, I can write [in Spanish] on my own!

That's great!

NN, the cross-out trick is [ s ]text[ /s ], but without the spaces, of course. So ... we don't name the Cookies We Do Not Name. ;) I think it might have been Lady_Liln who pointed that out to me.

Heehee, I like your term "consolation flurries". ;))

Aww, you have a cold too, Ben? :( I think Ruby may share with you a bowl of her soup ... and some Narnian tissues as well.

*enjoys the environment discussion*

*waves to everyone else, and hopes that PrinceCor and Vern will come on by, if the King and Lady can manage without them for a bit* In fact, come on down, too, KingLune and LadyA. :D

*Cor and Vern enter the Square, the Prince wearing a warm leather jacket and Vern.... well, wearing nothing.*

*I beg your pardon! I'm wearing scales! *

*Oh yes! *mumbles* Thousand pardons my good dragon, thousand pardons.....*

*I think you need to talk to our narrator, Cor. He seems to be.... how to put it... "out of the loop". [-( *

Eh, I'll look into it.

Mortereve all! Well, it's rainy and cold here in Archenland/AL. :| The tmp is steadily dropping and there's the possibility of snow flurries this evening. *sigh*

Let's see.... any news.... oh yes! Lady A now has her own computer!! :D KingLune, Fine Father/Husband That He Is, bought her a used E-mac for around $100.00. This means that I can finally have the laptop all to myself!!! B-)

Ahem, yes, well.... now for catching-up:

------------------------------------

@ Jo. Quite welcome, Jo! Speaking of the Olympics, did you watch any of the figure skating? :)

True, though sometimes mom's do seem to rank a little higher than dad's.... ;) He did for most of the afternoon until supper. Vern had spotted a nice fishing hole on our way into town, so he went fishing while we went home and fixed supper. :)

Thanks! I was wanting to make a passing grade (of course), but also get a score out of the teens. So, I was able to get both! :D Ooh! A stratecaster (SP?) cake! Thanks Jo!! :D

*Ahh, dipping sauces! They look and smell delectable! Thank you, miss Jo! Vern begins trying all the sauces*

@ Ruby. Oh no, they were made for the entire family to enjoy. I mainly made so many for one particular family member..... *gestures over to a certain dragon*

@ Winter. The medal round is the free skate. :) That messed me up the first time for couples though, I thought "Sooo, do they get two medals or what?" ;))

@ Ali. I saw the second segment of the latest BBC miniseries on PBS. So far, that's the only version I've seen. I'm interested in the version with Kate Beckinsale.... :)

@ Lark. I actually use a pizza mix as my starting point, but I add a few extra ingredients to make it better. ;) *tries hard to imagine an artichoke pizza tasting good.....* Sorry, can't really picture that. :p

Yay! Let me know what you think of it when you finally read it. :)

I never knew I had one until people started asking if I was from England or someplace like that. ;))

@ NN. Right, though more and more the specialty labels are being able to release everything, which is really nice. Yes, from a business standpoint you don't want to release a complete score that only maybe a quarter of your costumers will purchase, if even that much.

*reads article* Hmm, well, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I guess I'll have to see what the finished product looks like first. *crosses fingers and hopes the film does not look like the Star Wars prequel trilogy*

There have been a few times that I have thought about going to a 3D movie, just to see what it looks like. Unfortunately, there has not been any movies recently that I really wanted to go see, in either 3D or regular 2D. :p

-------------------------------

*has answered Jo's wish and will be posting right below her.... ;) *

Speaking of KingLune and Lady A, I really need to get them to stop by again..... I could probably get Lady A to stop by if I mentioned the chocolate tree......

Well, I better get back to the castle and finish school. Bye all! Hope everyone has a pleasant Tuesday!!

johobbit: I agree about the silly parts and sensuality. Alot of what they added was completely unneeded. Just letting you know the books have none of that, they are very innocent. It was a horrible adaption. I seriously hope they don't make sequels...

There are four as far as I know. I've seen three of them, which have you seen? :)

I saw the one with Gwyneth Paltrow acting as Emma, I'm not sure what company produced that one. And then the one by BBC, that one is really good! once you get past her first smile :P ;)) This one.

I assume you take our side? :)

@ NN. Right, though more and more the specialty labels are being able to release everything, which is really nice. Yes, from a business standpoint you don't want to release a complete score that only maybe a quarter of your costumers will purchase, if even that much.

That's good to hear. Sure, they're not going to do something that initially loses them money, or at least doesn't gain them a large profit.

Well, from what I've heard, hardcore movie fans would not be happy with this. The average person, on the other hand, likely won't care a bit or even notice a difference. Still, we can only wait and see what the finished product looks like. Correct me if I'm wrong... the DVD won't look any different, right? I mean, that's just the film converted to digital anyway, right?

I haven't seen too many 3D movies, and all of them have been in IMAX. Honestly, it's ok. Not great, but it ads a neat element to the movie. However, I do not think I'd want a 3D TV, which apparently is the up and coming new technology.

Have a good evening, all.

*Lady Amalthea enters the Square and... and... (whispers to the Lady, "What's my next line?" "...heads to the chocolate tree." "Thanks." "No problem.") Ahem. Lady Amalthea enters the Square and heads to the chocolate tree.* ("How's that?" "Pretty good. You'll get the hang of it soon." "Thanks." "No problem.")

Mortereverafter y'all! I had a call from one of our more Southern relatives the other day and just had a fine ole time talking and laughing and cuttin' up! Oops! Sorry about that. My accent tends to change according to whom I'm speaking. :-

Prince Cor, Fine Lad That He Is, mentioned that the chocolate tree needed to be tended. The branches do look a bit heavy laden, and I do dislike seeing anyone or anything so burdened, so I brought along some trusted centaurs to help.

I said.... I brought some trusted centaurs to help....
*nudges narrator*

(Huh? Oops, sorry! I was looking for a GooGoo cluster on the tree... and... Narrator! That's me!!)

*Two trusted centaurs enter the Square carrying large willow baskets that they wove themselves. Lady Amalthea begins picking chocolates and putting them in the baskets*

Hello Johobbit! Greetings Stargazer! Hello Pels, Bella, Ella, LL, Lys, NN, Djag, Flam, Ruby, Winter, Valia, Dome of Naria, and Jojo! My apologies for the disruption, but I had to get a new narrator. It seems that the reason I kept falling into the fountain on previous visits was because my narrator was actually being subsidized by Vern. :-??

I hope everyone is doing well. All is well here in Archenland, so far as I know.... #:-s I have some writing to do back at the castle, so I'm here just long enough to harvest some brain food from the chocolate tree. The centaurs have assured me of its medicinal and healthy qualities - and who am I to argue with a centaur?

@Johobbit: Since I'm not a hockey fan, I didn't watch the Olympic hockey games. I was very impressed with the Canadian figure skater, Johnnie (sp?). We mostly watched the figure skating as that was our main interest, but there were some great moments in a lot of the events. Wonderful games this year!

Looks like we've gotten all of the excess chocolate from the tree, so I better get back to Anvard. Oh, and don't worry! There is still plenty of chocolate left for everyone.

*Lady Amalthea heads back to the castle, soaking wet, and followed by the heavily burdened centaurs*

SOAKING WET?!!!?

*It was in the script that a large, shadowy figure just handed me. I didn't know it was in there! Honest!!*

Good Mortereve all!

I hope everyone has been having a good week- I have for the most part. :) In a way I'm glad the Olympics are over so I can get back into my regular routines and whatnot, but I'm also somewhat sad that it's all over now. :( But I did so enjoy that hockey game on Sunday night!) And that's all I'll say on the matter as I wouldn't want to rub it in.

*Waves to ForeverFan*

*waves back* How are you Ben?

*waves to Glenstorm* I heard (or rather, to be correct, read) that you were out of power for some time, I'm glad that you all survived- is everything back to normal now? On the news the other day I heard about some storms/high winds down your way and I thought of you, I hope everything will get back to normal soon if it hasn't already!

*waves to FF* Glad you're enjoying the Olympics! We haven't watched any yet, actually... :p

*waves back* How are you Queen Susan? :) Did you get to watch any of the Olympics?

Yes, I'm feeling completely well now. :) The twins are well now, too!
I'm glad to hear that you are doing well!

Hurray, a post from Djaq! :D I am quite glad to hear everyone is better now. :)

Okay, good! ;)) I just wasn't sure because I know that my sisters had people asking them what they wanted to do and it did get old after a while. ;))

;)) I can understand that, and it would get a bit tiring after a while especially when one doesn't know what to do, and they really haven't got any ideas, and to have to tell people that time and time again would be really irritating, I think, even if the questions are well meant. To be reminded that you're approaching the age where a decision must be made and you don't know which path to chose, yes indeed. :) But for now the question isn't old, and I'll give everyone here a special NWebber bonus: Y'all get to ask that question for free. ;)

Aha, I see. :) From what I know of you, I really do think that you would be good in those areas! :)

Thank you friend! Your words are very encouraging to me!

I'm really not sure what I'd like to do. Something that I would like to be involved in again is the horse ranch where I've volunteered before. I enjoyed working with disabled kids and although I don't think that's something I'd do for an occupation, I think that it's a good experience.

I'll definitely be praying for you as you think about your future & etc! :) It sounds like it was a really fun and fulfilling experience to work with disabled kids and be able to help them out, do you think you will be able to do it again this year?

Yes, I think I've seen that one before. :D I don't own it, but that's neat that they feature those songs. :)

I'll have to listen to it sometime...I checked out a couple other Nickle Creek songs a while back, I liked what I heard but I didn't know the best song to "start" with...do you have any suggestions or particular favourite songs of theirs that you'd suggest to begin listening to them with?

*sends a hello over to Aiden* How are things with you?

How far are you through Get Smart, now?

We are actually pretty much where we were last time we talked (or, about two weeks ago) and that means the last episode we watched was Episode 11 (The Farcas Frackas). Because the Olympics were on we sort of all agreed to take a break, but I hope we can resume watching Season 4 this coming Sunday. (Sunday evenings are our Get Smart evenings...)

It's going rather slowly. I'm still on like the sixth chapter. I just (sadly) haven't had that much time for reading. And I have to finish reading this one book called Heart of Darkness for Rhetoric Class. *sigh*

Ahh, I see. :) Have you been able to get some more time for reading? *hopes so* Is Heart of Darkness a book you enjoyed, or no? What type of book was it? :)

Hmm..I don't believe that I've ever heard of that Dickens book before. I'm sure my sisters have. :P Oooh! Complex characters are always fun, especially when they're evil. There's something very interesting about evil complex characters (not typically complex though, I hate typically complex evil characters, if you know what I mean :P ).

I think I know what you mean. ;)) For the most part I too enjoy the "bad guys" that are not only complex but also show glimmers of possible goodness in them, the ones that want something better and purer but struggle with the choices that they've made in the past that put them in the bad spot, hence they are the bad guys, or antagonists. Even if in the end they remain trapped in their ways, or choose the bad path and are not redeemed in the end, I still like them for the most part. Although, there are some villains who are truly really bad, I can't like those, struggles or no. I guess it all depends on what the characters do in their badness. Or something like that. ;)) I guess I'm just the type of person who does really feel sorry when the bad person dies without changing for good because it's just...sad. Anyways. ;))

FF, yes, spending time with friends is so fun! :D It also worked out as a perfect time for us to catch up on what's going on, since my family had been sick and we hadn't seen each other in a while. :)
Not much going on for me either. I've watched some of the Olympics, and besides schoolwork, I've spent lots of time working on a story I'm writing. Other than that, not much. :)

Hurray! :D That's great! :) How is your story going? I hope it's going well! :) I like your new avatar, by the way! :)

Mortereve all! Guess what? I got my ACT scores today!!!! :D :D Aaannnddd, I made.... *Vern taps his claws on the cobblestones in a mock drum-roll*..... 21!! :D It's not exceptionally high, but I'm quite pleased with it. I can graduate now!!!

Congratulations! :D That is great news- I'm glad that it's a good score and once you're pleased with. :)

@ Fanny. Very true! It's like watching LotR on TV and all the little cuts and tucks they always make. :( Granted, sometimes TV edited versions can be better (some movies that have a LOT of cursing in theatrical format have hardly any in TV form).

Mmm, yes! I've never seen LotR the TV version, but even just comparing the theatrical versions with the extended editions, (although in the EEs, all the additional scenes were left out on purpose and not just cut out for running length, so it's a little different) gives me enough idea of what it would be like. But that is quite true about the language and even some other scenes sometimes that are removed for TV. There was one film that we saw on TV- a historical, WWI film that I enjoyed, and aside from some swearing and violence, (due to the War and etc), I thought it was good. But a friend saw it on DVD and said there was some really bad swearing in it, which made me glad I didn't buy the DVD when I had the chance. Sadly though I recommended the film to a friend, thinking it was pretty good, and only afterward found out about all that was cut out. :|

Life's been good as of late. :D Everything going along as usual, but it's been nice just having everything "normal". :)

Yes indeed! I'm so glad we're settling back into some of our routines and normal life now that the Olympics are over. It is not that we scheduled our entire days around what was going on on TV, but we did make some changes since it *is* only on once every four years. So while it's sad that it's all over, it's nice to resume daily life...

It is going quite splendidly! We (Djaq and myself) are quite possibly going over to a friends house tonight and watch some Robin Hood episodes. Fun stuff!
How about you?

Fun! :D Were you able to go over and watch the episodes? For the most part I do enjoy that show, although I've only seen Series 1 and over half of Series 2. Series 1 was definitely my favourite. :) Life is good for me, thank you! :) Spring is coming and for that I am quite happy. :D How is life for you now?

F2,
Ummm, well, I didn't mean to cause a debate. ;)) But I am particularly more fond of being more serious, but I do have many moments when I do burst out into random energy where I cannot be serious. ;) I could never be fully serious. And hmmm, I can enjoy movies where it's unrealistic (how could I not enjoy Narnia where animals speak? ;)) ). But it seems to be harder for my mom when it comes to modern day unrealistic movies.

;)) Of course. :) Ah yes...I sometimes have those moments too, and I do like making people laugh, which is, um, okay I guess. But I really only act goofy or silly around my family, or with really good friends. :) That is a good point about Narnia vs. modern day set movies- perhaps it's because Narnia is supposed to be fantasy and have "magical" things in it, but in the movies that are set in the real world, it's attempting to portray a story that could- ideally- logically have taken place, and the events must be constrained to believable ones that could physically happen in the world, and therefore, we have higher standards for a modern day set movie, because it has to be realistic. Or something of that sort?

Ditto! ^^ I don't know the complete list of characteristics of an introvert, but I like being one either way. ;))

Ditto! :D Well, for the most part. There are some things that aren't universal of all introverts but are still connected to introvertism that this introvert could do without. But God knows best. :)

Yes, it's really fun to look at! :) I had noticed that it also showed that the Native Americans had migrated quite a long while ago, and I was really amazed by that. :) Wow, I hadn't known that! It is nice to know such as that. (And this is definitely one of the reasons why a big dream of mine is to be either a Bible, Egyptian, or Native American archeologist. :P)

Oh wow! That is cool too! :) I love history! (By the way, when I said just before your reply that Buddha and Confucious were before Christ, I meant to say that they were before Christ was born and lived on earth. Of course Jesus was in actual existence way before the other two. But I thought I should just clarify that statement) Being an archeologist does sound like something very special and fantastic, I hope that you're able to realize that dream some how! :)

Well....I guess this is it. :) I hope everyone has a good evening & rest of the week! :)

Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,

Hello all! *Waves*

Wow! That doesn't sound very good. :( Sad. I haven't seen the Olympics since Monday I don't think... so yeah. But it doesn't seem too fair the way you put it. :(

Yeah, but I bet if you asked someone from another country what they thought they'd have a totally diff. view point. (I still think mine's right, though.) :) So, how's life?

*waves to Winter* Sorry I missed you today... :( But I didn't want to scare you with the hideous sight and sound of me.

That's ok. Oh, did you hear what you missed in creative writing? I think you should do the assignment, it's turning out to be totally fun! :)

Good job on your grades, Lark! :D

No, actually I was having epilepsy, because you were messing with my mind. :P

I was messing with your mind?! Try the other way around, buddy.

Okay, I have a plan since Winter says she doesn't get hardly any PMs: Inundate her with Personal Messages! ;))

Good idea! ;) Now, let's see if it works...Or, maybe I should just work up the courage to PM someone and see what happens. :p

@ Winter. The medal round is the free skate. :) That messed me up the first time for couples though, I thought "Sooo, do they get two medals or what?" ;))

lol, wouldn't that be strange if they had six medaling pairs, instead of three? ;))

See y'all!

Best. Musical. Ever. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a musical genius and Gerard Butler has an amazing voice.
There's actually going to a sequel to it later this year in NYC. :) (Not the movie, unfortunately, the live show.) It's called "Love Never Dies" I'm very curious how it will turn out...

edit: I'm glad I started this last night 'cause I don't have time for a catch-up this morning. I've gotta go start a thread in "Prayer Requests" Have a good day everyone! I hope to be back soon.

@Ali:

Spoiler
No,it didn't,although i can see why you would think that.
You know,Rick Riordan himself wrote the script. When I found that out I was like "Dude! You're ruining you're books! Have you no pride?!?" ;))
You take piano, too? :D Yay! How was your lesson? :)

@Ben: I'm doing pretty good. A little bummed at the moment since I won't be able to go to my grandmother's tonight though. :( But other than that I'm doing great. :) And yourself?

@jo: I think I actually had too much fun with my pig. ;)) I removed his brain and one of his eyes, which wasn't part of the assignment... /:) Now I can't wait to do the fish and the frog, and the starfish and everything else!

I hope so as well. :) French is such a beautiful language! There's actually many, many languages I'd love to learn. ;))

Thank you for the balloons!(and the ancouragement. It really mean a lot to me. :) ) I love balloons! *dances around the fountain with her balloons*

It's actually because of Tolkien that I become so interested in etymology. I would read the tranlations at the end of The Sil trying to make up my names. I've actually considered making a career out of philology, and I think I'd love it,but I'm just not sure. I'm very indecisive when it come to the subects of college and careers. ;))

@PrinceCor: Sacrelige! :P It's delicious! A cresent roll crust and you mix up the artickokes with some kind of cheese and ranch dressing, and other ingredients that have slipped my mind at the moment. :P Anyway, don't hate it 'til you've tried it.
Congrats about the laptop! I still need to get mine fixed. 8-|
