Hey Wild Rose! I've been enjoying winter break, too.
It's been so relaxing. Wow, you saw 'The Hobbit' in Russian? Can you speak Russian?
Winter break has been relaxing (so relaxing that I don't want to go and study tomorrow )
I live in Russia, born and raised though sometimes, when it comes to movies, I wish I lived in an English speaking country
I'm really not a fan of dubbed movies.
Oh, wow! I didn't know you were fluent in Russian. I'm not sure if I would be able to process Richard Armitage talking with a voice other than his own, haha.
And that's really too bad about the singing, since it was one of my favorite parts in the whole movie. I feel like the songs and the singing were a key feature in all of Tolkien's books. He worked so hard to create songs for each and every race and type of people and I feel like his creativity doesn't get enough credit in the Lord of the Rings movies.
I missed Richard Armitage's voice in English sometimes I wish they wouldn't do a dub here and just put subtitles though the guy who dubbed for Thorin had a nice voice, very deep, and they guy who dubbed for Bilbo did a good job too, I didn't care for the rest. The voice for Gollum was awful, no one can do it better than Andy Serkis, that's for sure. I'm waiting for the movie to come out on DVD so I can see it the way it ought to be seen
I also missed the songs in Lord of The Rings, and I'm so glad that they included some of them in The Hobbit
Aah, I love North & South! But I can definitely relate to your brother. It's hard for me to watch that mini series. It's so long and it's so tragic and I tend to spend the entire time apprehensively waiting for the ending to come around and for everything to be happy. Haha. But it really is such a good story.
Have you seen any other of the BBC adaptations of Elizabeth Gaskell's books? Like Wives & Daughters or Cranford? Both are very good and entertaining.
haha, it's hard for me to watch it to, but it really makes you appreciate the ending, so I prefer to watch it from beginning to end. My older sister loves all the suffering Mr. Thornton goes through, the proposal scene (where Margaret turns him down) is her one of her favorite scenes (I always run out of the room at that part ) but she loves the ending too
I've seen Cranford and Wives and Daughters, and though North and south is still my favorite, I loved them too (I have a very big weakness for period drama movies so many people in my family enjoy teasing me about it
)
Winter break if finished and I still have debts with homework....I wonder why I always drag everything till the last minute, excuse me as I run to finish up before tomorrow comes around
always be humble and kind
Well, well, it's wonderful to see an 'ol'-timer', peterpevensie, here again. Welcome back to the Square, my friend! And Lady_Liln too? Good gracious, it's fantastic seeing you again as well (and your prettily coloured posts)!
I can hardly believe you are graduating in May!
Way to persevere! And just how are the Squiggles doing?
And Valia! The return of y'all brings back many reminiscences of the good ol' Square days.
And CSLN has begun her first college year! Where does the time go?! And Valia's doing her Master's!

Winter and Ruby too! It's grand reunion time.
*waves cheerily to wild rose and pogginfan as well*
wild rose, you are blessed to have English so down pat when your first language is Russian. You (and your sisters) do an amazing job!
In reading this over, I see how overloaded it is with "Welcome backs and howdys".
My turn for a poem:
â« Over the river and through the woods
To the Town Square we go,
To friends far and near
We bring good cheer,
Though miles apart we are, oooh!
Into the Squa-are, around the fount,
O'er to yon choc'late tree,
We stuff our bags
Until they sag
*pokes Lady Amaltheeeee*. â«

Hi, guys! Sorry for posting and then promptly falling of the face of the planet! I've been kinda busy, and life has definitely been crazy.
Winter! Look at Sokka! Love that episode.
And, oooh! I've just become a Doctor Who fan (seen up to Ten's regeneration into Eleven).
Daleks are still weird though.

Lady_Liln!How have you been, my friend? Haha! That's how I draw, when I see a majestic landscape I turn it into a five-year old style crayon drawing.
Ooh, good to hear you've been converted! Daleks are kinda weird, you're right. These in particular are weird because they look like crayons!
Winter and Ruby too! It's grand reunion time.

Jo!!! Me thinks Ruby and I should do a Ruby-Winter show. What do you think?
Well, I guess that's all. See y'all!

Greetings all!
I know it has been quite some time since I've been on Narniaweb and even longer since I have posted on a ditto town thread - Actually the last time I was here I got myself in trouble for posting to long of posts x)
I just decided to stop by and see how everyone was - catch up with some of you old timers that I know
Also make myself known to the folks I have yet to meet.
Hope everyone is doing well!
~Bart
Makes a long neglected visit to the Town Square after many months. Hey all, how are things?
Bart, welcome back to NW (didn't know that too long of posts were possible in here
-I always feel mine are too short
)
Life's been a little hectic on my end, but still good Wishing you all the best
Enjoy your Dittotown chatting

Hello all, and a special welcome to those who've stopped by after extended absences!
More snow is falling outside this evening, and even though we still are behind for the season, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas out there.
So...did anyone watch the big game this evening? It was pretty close, especially after the 35-minute delay caused by many of the lights going out in the Superdome. That's unusual!
I watched it with friends, and since none of us had an overwhelming favorite team we wanted to see win, we didn't mind the close game. Mostly we just like to get together, talk and eat, and watch a little football on the side.
...And check out the commercials. A few were mildly amusing, like the Toyota 'wish genie' ("I asked for unlimited wishes!") or the Oreos 'whisper fight' in the library. Silly perhaps, but they made us chuckle.
The Axe Lifeguard spot ("Nothing beats an astronaut") reminded me of the Doctor Who "Impossible Astronaut" episode.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Hello, everyone. Schools were actually canceled here today so I didn't have to work.
We rarely get snow days here we get snow but schools aren't usually off.
@Mel I wondered if the Hobbit Play program was the one you were talking about.
I'm very happy. The 3rd and last season of my favorite TV show finally came out on DVD.

@Twigs: Sadly, I have yet to glue it in, though it is now cut to size. Did you have a nice snow day?
The Lady of Shallot conspiracy was fun. I never did see the film though.
But now I have! The film is on Youtube if anyone else is interested.

But our hearts we lost - how long ago! -- G. K. Chesterton
Yikes. Time to play catch-up, almost three months worth.
Bella, oh, yes, the Lady of Shalott conspiracy was great fun. And hello again!
Oh, Chemistry or Physics? That's great! Both of those are interesting fields. And I think you could get through Calculus fine, though a good teacher always helps.
You have a good memory! Yes, Regina Doman is the author of the Fairy Tale Novel series, and the first book is indeed The Shadow of the Bear.
Well, thankfully, the painting is all finished downstairs and has been for a while! (Well, sort of---we're going to have to do touch up soon since everything else will pretty much be done.
) And I passed on your hello to Winter!
*waves hello to Ruby* How're classes going?
~LL~!!! So glad to see you around here again.
Congratulations in advance for graduating! And I'm sure you'll do well on the NCLEX---it's obviously a huge test, but my sister didn't find it as scary as she thought it'd be when she took it. So...don't panic.
I'm getting my Master's in Mechanical Engineering still, focus on Thermal Systems. And my research is in simulations, specifically coupling a building model with an HVAC equipment model. ...I still haven't figured out how to explain it better than that.
Hello, wild rose! Aww, a marriage proposal?
Glad you were able to turn him down okay.
Hi, pogginfan! How're you doing? And how's your New Year's resolution going?
How's your scrapbook coming, Mel? Caught up yet, or at least past the Hobbit party? (...based upon your post today, no.
)
to Jo! It's lovely to see you here again.
It was absolutely wonderful to have so many people back over winter break, even if it was only for a little while. It'd be lovely to see some more of the Square Onions back.
Hi, Bart! Good to see you again! How're you doing?
Hi, wolf! How're things going for you?
Hello, gazer! I didn't watch the Superbowl and actually haven't really seen any of the ads they aired for it. I'm a bit surprised about the latter, since I think I usually get roped into watching some...
Hiya, Twig's! Did you enjoy your snow day? And have you had a chance to watch your new dvds yet?
Everyone should go watch the video Mel linked to! It's worth a watch-through at least once, if only to say that you finally got to see it.
I'm doing pretty well, though classes and research are keeping me very busy. I've been trying to continue to make a dent on my reading list, though I keep getting waylaid. And then I keep reading things that grab me and don't want me to go off and read something else.
I hope you all are well, dear Square Onions!
To the future, to the past - anywhere provided it's together.

Hello, all! The Square certainly has been quiet of late! Hope you all had a great Easter and a little fun with our April Fools activities.
It snowed here this morning, heavily but briefly; the sun is trying to come out now. But 6-10 inches of snow may be in our future over the next few days. Ah, spring!
I must away for now, but before I depart I'll be sure to leave scattered chocolates and other treats of choice for our SquareOnions.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
*quietly slips into the empty square and looks around*
Wow. It's been very quiet here lately!
It's a shame that I've become a lurker. I do hope to come back here regularly within the next month or so. I miss you all!
Well, I just dropped in to say hello and see how everyone is doing. I hope all is well and that the weather is cooperating for all! So far it's not here. 40F yesterday and 85 today. Ouch.
As for me, I suppose I'm fair enough. Things have been busy here, preparing for recitals, birthdays, graudations, and more! Typical May/June stuff for me. (Well, not graduation.. but the other stuff) I am however trying something new Saturday. I'll be going to the grand opening of a new dance studio in town and taking an open adult ballet class and swing dance there... Honestly, I'm scared to death.
Well, that's all for now! *grabs a piece of chocolate and settles down, hoping to lure others into the square*
Proud ballet dancer!

I haven't been here in a while. Schools are almost here. I'm subbing first grade tomorrow. Hopefully, that will go okay; it is last week of school.
Summer will be crazy too. Hopefully, I'll be working regularly. I'm excited about the second NarniaWeb competition in July. I'm also going to be moving from an apartment to a town home. And I have to look for a job.

I haven't posted here for ages - or for pages ...
I'm excited about the July tournament, too! I hope I'll be able to participate as much as last year, although I can never promise. And I hope lots of people will be in it!
I'll be on holiday, which means either that I'll have lots of time for the tourney, or that I'll have lots of other activities going on and not much time for the tourney
As I don't know yet what team I'll be on, there's no need to think about a tournament sig for a while - so I'll go back to the old one again until then.

*Rya pants heavily as she finds a conveniently placed park bench near the Town Square, close enough to the Fountain that she can almost feel the water. Ditto Town, of course, maintains ideal temperatures for the season, but Minnesota has finally started to act like it's summer.*
Hello all! It has been quite a while since I've dropped by (as in, probably a year or so
), but since I've graduated from college (
YESSSSSS!!!!), I've found the time to make a reappearance.
Twigs, I'm debating joining the competition, though until I get back into the swing of things, I'm worried I'll be more of a hindrance to my team than a help.
(Plus I may be leaving for a week in July and I have no idea what my Internet situation would be then.) Ah well; I have a couple of weeks to think about it (I think... I need to consult a calendar
).
*Rya regrets sitting so close to the fountain when Bob Saget the Platypus decides to come rocketing out of the water, showering her and the nearby benches.*

Hearty congrats, Ryadian, on graduating from college! Best wishes as you begin your career.
Summer in Minnesota, Rya? Those 10 trillion mosquitoes would agree with you. But it's been fun stargazing the past few nights (after all the cloudy ones we've had of late).
It'd be great if you could join the competition, but no pressure.
