*pokes her head into the empty Square and dusts off a seat beneath the neatly-trimmed chocolate tree* Good mortereve, all. :)

Wow. 101st page and hardly anyone here. I remember years ago when it seemed like every couple of months a new square would open, and I'd have to fight through pages of posts to ketchup! Now.. it's so quiet.

Yeah, the Square has changed a lot since then. Familiar faces still appear, just... not quite as often. It's good to see you again, by the way. :)
*sends hugs* Is there any possibility that your feet will heal enough to be able to dance in your recitals? I certainly hope so! I've been keeping you in my prayers.

Hurrah, it's Lady A! :D It's wonderful to see you - as always.
I wish you the best of luck in finishing up those three semesters in the fall.

I likely wouldn't have the time now to keep up even if the Square did pick up its pace again. I definitely wouldn't during the school year. ;))

*chuckles heartily at Twigs' "Lilliandil" comment*

;)) Someone else actually suggested looking for Lilliandil when a group of us were stargazing and the idea stuck with me. ;))

Only 6 days of school left and if I'm lucky I won't have to sub all of those. This summer I'm going to be teaching enrichment classes, things like Leggos, video game design, and movie making. I'll be starting actually teaching in July.

My mom bought me a book with Surprised by Joy, The Four Loves, Reflections on the Psalms, and The Business of Heaven. It was about 10 dollars at Barns and Noble.

*waves cheerily to all*

Varnafinde, did you hear back about the potential job position?

*chuckles at stargazer's Obi-wan and Luke joke* ;))

So now that I've bored everybody with my life ...

No way; no how. I, for one (and I know there are others) thoroughly enjoy hearing about your gardening and bee experiences, fantasia, as well as about Fiona. ♄ Those photos are too adorable! Has she been able to keep up the momentum at home that she gained in the class? Have you enrolled her in the Advanced class yet?

*snags a S'more* Thanks muchly! :D

The only thing I thought of when I saw that was of Lilo and Stitch, when the Cobra Bubbles guy said to Lilo regarding Stitch, "Next time I see that dog, I expect him to behave like a model citizen!" :))

:))

My little brother actually plays the harp, he just has started learning in the past year or two.

Oooh, I'm looking at picking up the harp, as in taking lessons in the next year or so. Either that or the cello. We'll see. Good for your brother for pursuing this! And I realize you're there now, Benjamin, and so might not see this until after the fact, but have an amazing time in Peru! Is this a missions trip?

For the very very very first time in my life, I saw a shooting star-- it shot very picturesquely a little distance from the moon and was a wonderful bright green. It was beyond wonderful!!

Hurrah, what a thrill that must have been, Bella! :D (*) I would love to stargazer with you and CSLN someday.

Cadbury eggs, you say? Yes, indeed. :D

:D

Congratulations to you, dear Louise the First, for finishing school with flying colours! :D It sounds like a busy, fun June. We'll miss you here, but ENJOY! And stay safe.

Hopefully my business degree will be complete by December 2013.

:D Rooting for you big-time, m'Lady. I hope the castle does not demand too much of your time with this goal on the horizon.

Gen, wow, what a busy time. And, may I ask, how do you dance so much ... with two injured feet? :-o

Nice about the 4-in-1 book, Twigs. When I was at a bookstore today, I found Yours, Jack: Spiritual Direction from C.S. Lewis (editor: Paul Ford) for $6.99—a nice, big hardcover too, filled with his letters—and promptly picked up two: one for my library; one for a gift.

Those enrichment classes sound interesting ... and fun! :) Are you looking forward to them? Are they five days a week? Much prep beforehand?

Well, I've been busy with a lot of gardening lately, and today rain has poured down from the heavens nearly the entire day, soaking our dry, parched ground. How I love the refreshment of a good rainfall.

Is anyone looking to see the transit of Venus across the sun this coming week? Don't expect to see another one in your lifetime, because the next one is in December ... 2117!!! Guess we'll be watching that from heaven. ;)) But, back to this Tuesday, there will be another astronomical event the day before ... a partial eclipse of the full Moon!. I just might have to arise for this, if cloud-cover refrains from spoiling it. :P

But, back to Venus' transit: make sure you have proper viewing material for this, either #14 welder's glass or solar glasses. Nothing less. It is the sun, after all.

Well, wishing a wonderful weekend to all!

*leaves a plate of goodies behind, after taking a short, but hearty, swim in the Ditto pool* :D Yes, of course they have to be chocolate. Many humble pardons, Twigs. ;)) Wait, I just found a bowl of gummies for you. :D

*enters the quiet Square*

I noticed jo's comment about tomorrow's transit of Venus. Hard to believe it's less than 24 hours away now. My friends are probably sick of hearing me talk about it. ;)) But it's about as rare as they come (in terms of predictable astronomical events).

A dip in the ditto pool sounds good; 'tis rather warm in here this evening, and this weekend promises some hot and humid summerlike weather. *sigh* Still more than 3 months to the start of the possible snow season...

*grabs some chocolate and wishes all a good mortereve! *

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

stargazer, I could never tire of your astronomical enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion. :D Wishing clear skies for you!

Are any other SquareOnions looking to see the transit?

We're getting that humid weather this weekend too (with more precipitation) #:-s , so I'm making sure I enjoy the much more pleasant temperatures now. We had an abundance of rain this past weekend, which the gardens have been lapping up, as everything was so very dry prior to the downfalls.

*pokes the quiet Square and strikes up a â™Ș ♫ cheery song ♫ â™Ș, accompanied by ... overflowing chocolate!* ;))

Yes, I am looking forward to them. We are given a curriculum so all I need to do beforehand is look it over and do some of the projects. Today, I went to a basic training for movie making and Legos. I learned the names for different Lego pieces. Most classes are four days a week. I won't be starting teaching until July.

Is anyone looking to see the transit of Venus across the sun this coming week?

That would be cool to see but I don't have any of the necessary equipment.

*reminiscing with Bella and Miss R over the "good ol' days" on the Town Square*

I don't know which is more sad, the fact that the Square is slow or the fact that I have not had an hour's time to spare at all since the start of this semester. Thank goodness summer is here! I hope to be on here more often, especially with this upcoming tournament between Dragons and Lawn Dancers! :D

My summer is looking every bit as busy as the school semester. The only difference is there is no home work or looming deadlines, just work. And some of that work involves teaching and helping at a Celtic Camp for kids and teens this summer. I am so excited! :D

Also, I have taken up teaching dance classes privately this summer because my own dear dance teacher is resting her feet and only teaching half of the amount she normally does. :P

Oh, lookie, I just got enlisted. *grin*

Do I understand that the chocolate tree needs some trimming? Hmm, yes, indeed it does! *glances around to make sure her mother is not in sight* I am supposed to be on a diet this summer of no carbs whatsoever. Shhh! Don't tell my mother!! *nom nom nom*

eustacegirl, good to see you in here! How are summer classes going?

Oh my goodness, Gen (that is what people call you, right GentleWarrior?)!!! I hope your feet heal soon. I will be praying for you, because it sounds like you certainly have your hands full. *huggles*

The worst injury I have ever sustained in dance class are shin splints. But they have gone since summer started and I am not dancing as much. And they never hurt so bad that I cannot dance. However, one of my dance mates sustained four fractures in one of his feet and one in the other this semester. He discovered his feet were fractured at the doctor's the day before a dance performance. It was an important performance, one of the one's we actually get paid to perform so the doctor told him he could dance in that one performance and then it was the boot for the next eight weeks.

He danced really well, despite the fractured feet. But it was sooo painful watching him dance. He was practically eating pain meds in between dances and his face was beet red the entire time. :-o

Why I said a straight answer is because my mom and dad never did keep track of grades and take home-schooling tests and what not, and actually only two of my 11 siblings so far have even gotten their GED/Highschool diploma. My mom and dad did always push the limits and go against the 'norm', in several ways; their walk with God, seeking and trusting him no matter what others thought or said, and also just in the ways of living life. It's kinda odd I know but hey odd is more fun than normal ;) And no not this kind of odd; :-B ... ;)

I definitely agree! I've grown to love seeing the slight shock in peoples' eyes when I tell them I have seven siblings (which to me, isn't that many...I know a lot of families with far more :P). But it's so funny to me how society and Hollywood promote being "unique" and "going against the norm" these days, when in reality, most everybody just does what everyone else is doing. :P

*waves to jo* It is my dream to purchase a harp once I have the money too. Though I don't intend on playing it myself. I want my children to play it, in my Living Room beside the bay window. ;) :P I have a friend who plays the harp and I swear I could listen to that music all day, it is so beautiful and soothing! She played in my senior recital. She, one of my mother's violin students, and my mother played Pachelbel's "Canon in D" on two violins and the harp. I have determined that they will play that at my wedding... *dreamy eyes*

Well, I think my siblings are lobbying for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tonight, so I must scoot! God bless, you all!

P.S. How could I forget?? I am a licensed driver now!!!

Good mortereve(as that is what I've heard people say around here)! Most people around here recognize my long but truthful name if you have been around the past year. :p I have never posted in Ditto Town before because I am not a role player, but I'd at least figure I'd drop by on the occasion to say hello.

Today is actually my one year anniversary of joining the forum. :D I'd just like to say a thank you to everyone for making the NarniaWeb forums a great place to be! I've had a lot of fun and hope to keep visiting.

For those who don't know me as well, I often go as Lou around here(makes it easier to type ;) ). So, yeah, as I said, I'm still relatively new to the forum compared to some people, and also a bit younger actually. It's actually kind of funny to see people's reactions when I reveal my age.

Ah, well, I don't have too much else to say at the moment. I hope to pop back in really soon to chat more! :)

Very nice to meet you, Lou! You know, Ditto Town is probably the place I like to hang out the most on NarniaWeb and I've never participated in any of the roll playing. :P

Congrats on your one year NarniaWeb anniversary!! I hope we see you around here a lot in the years to come. :D

What age are you? That is, if you're all right with sharing it online.

I haven't heard about the job. They said they would inform all applicants, but there's been no news. I've mailed them to ask now, so hopefully they'll answer soon. I won't be getting the job, but they should give information.

A friend of mine has just started to learn playing the harp. He's another internet friend, though (from a Tolkien board), so I can only listen to him if he puts it up on YouTube ...

I didn't watch the Transit-of-Venus - I heard that the last one was only eight years ago, and then the next one is as far off as that!

Well, I think I'm going to take a little diversion away from NarniaWeb. I just didn't want to leave everyone hanging and wondering if I was dead. ;)

So. Yep.

Truly an eloquent message, humdedum! Thanks for being a part of this community, and best wishes in all your future endeavors. Feel free to stop by on occasion!

The Town Square certainly has been quiet of late! Perhaps it's due to people traveling on their summer vacations (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway), attending school or university, or getting involved in this month's NarniaWeb competition (which is a great idea - it's certainly brought a lot of life to the GMD section as of late!).

I hope to be around more this month, after all of June's travels far and wide. Time to write more ditto story and RP posts as well.

Now if we could only get rid of this heat! I like temperatures around 50-60F, not over 100! ;)

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Humdedum, thank you for that very thoughtful post! I hope you can come by again in the not-too-distant future. *joins stargazer in wishing you well*

There are some things I'd like to respond to on the previous page, but the heat index being what it is (around 111F), my mind is too foggy and fuzzy to think straight. #:-s :P

However, isn't it great about the forum competition? It's good to see some more life in various areas again. :D Even though I don't have time to be on a team, I'm sure rooting for y'all. :o)

I've been spending time in my gardens lately, although more in the early morning and evening hours as it's way too hot in the middle of the day. We need rain, and apparently that's coming tomorrow. Yay! Using the hose up until now, and it's been worth it: they're all thriving—veggie and floral. B-) Swimming in the pool each evening to cool down before hitting the sack.

Funny how the wild rabbits of our area love munching on many of the leaves. I find that they are just too cute to chase away. If they were actually destroying the plants, however, I'd scoot 'em off. ;))

What are some of your plans for the summer, all ye SquareOnions?

*leaves a plate of refreshing popsicles in the cooler. Help yourselves! :D

P.S. I quite like how some of those treats match the font colour I use. ;)) 'Twas unintentional, but it's kinda cool.

*has a red one*

Thank you, very nice, even if it isn't as hot in Norway right now and then not as much need for ice.
There's been rain today, but none of the thunder from the weather forecast - sometimes it's good that they get it wrong ...

I wish I had made a note of my post count before the competition started - I think it was six hundred something, and by the end of the month, there's no telling what it will be. (Edit: This post is my post #717 ;) )

The competition is fun!
I have even - for the first time - been on NWeb chat with some people, all of them people I didn't know from before!

And it sure gives activity in the fora.
Not so much in Ditto Town or the Spare Oom, since that gives no points, but even so ...

Humdedum, thank you for sharing such a thoughtful message. All the best to you!

I agree, Louise. It is wonderful to see the forum buzzing again! I considered joining a team but assumed I wouldn't be much help, due to a busy schedule. But it turns out that I've been a lot less busier than expected. Oh well. ;))

Not much is new around here. We arrived home last week - the way back from the west coast included three long days of driving, which made us tired and hyper and sore. But we listened to the entire selection of Focus on the Family's Narnia audiobooks, so it wasn't all bad. :)
Ah, yes! Best news of all: I'm getting a dog. :D We've been looking around at the local pounds, but if nothing promising shows up there we'll check out breeders in the area. I'm very excited about the whole ordeal. It's been a dream of mine to have a dog for years, but my parents weren't too keen on the idea due to the excessive amount of traveling we used to do.
