5) The kidnapper's intentions are not clear. And, um, he's a pretty rotten kidnapper. Not prepared at all - a grown man jumped by some kids? Come on guys, he's got to have at least ONE weapon! ))))

Meghan dialed Jen back, but no one answered. "Jen? Jen?" the phone beeped again.

Jen answered, "Hello?" Just then, a man covered her mouth, causing her to scream. Putting a knife to her throat, he dragged her towards her friends. He demanded, "Okay kids. If Kayla goes free, she dies."

Peter felt his heart pound. When were the cops going to get there? Suddenly, he picked up a gun that had been laying on the ground. "You let both go or I'll shoot."

Panicking, Justin asked, "What are you doing touching that gun! He could be a convicted killer!"

Ian had no idea what he was doing here. His mind was doing circles and flips trying to grasp the truth or some reality. He looked at the group, the boy with the gun and the man with the knife to the girl's neck. The girl he had tried to help was still there. He swallowed and slowly moved into the group of people.

He slid toward the back wall, and felt for the wood, as he steathily moved around to the back of the Man with the knife. A couple other's noticed him and he pressed his finger to his lips, and mouthed. *Shhhh* to them. He tested each old board before he stepped to make sure they wouldn't creak and alert the big man holding the girl. Finally he was in position and he called out. " HEY you!! heads up!!!" He then, from behind grabbed the man's wrist with the knife.

Peter felt relieved Ian was helping him wiht Jen, then place the gun down on the ground.
Justin pulled him to the side and said, "I have to burn it."
He got out his match, about to strike a fire, when Miley breathlessly rushed to his side. She whispered, "The cops are here!"

The kidnapper, ignoring the girl dropped the girl he was holdign to the ground, spun around and grabbed Ian's hair. "You give that back you punk."

Just then, some cops came in and siad, "Halt!"

Ian, gasping as the man tugged on his shoulder length hair, held the knife at arms lenght toward the police. "You let go of ME you goon!" He cried pulling.

One officer pulled a pistol from his holster and pointed it at Ian "Hand me the knife son before some one get's hurt!!" He said taking his other hand and reaching for it. "Let's not get ruff here...and YOU let go of him!" he said pionting the barrle at both Ian and the man.

Ian tried to hand the officer the knife in his hand, but the guy tugged him back him losing his balance.

Justin crept up behind the man, knocking him on the back of the head wiht his flashlight. This caused the goon to drop Ian to the ground, turn around and kick Justin in the stomach. "I will not be defeated by a bunch of kids!"

Peter rushed to Justin's side, helping him up. "Are you okay?" THen, he turned to teh cop and pointed at the kidnapper. "He kidnapped Kayla."

Ian picked himself up off the ground and glared at the kidnapper. The officer pushed him aside and pionted his gun at the bad guy.

"HALT!! Stand down!!" he said firmly

The kidnapper smirked, "Stand down? Wthat that supposed to mean?"

Jen picked herself off the ground, rushing into Peter's protective arms. She felt a little comfort in his warm embrace. Still, she started shaking, at the memory of almost being killed. "Thanks, Pete."

Peter stroked her hair, kissing her foreheadc. "Anytime."

Justin helped the guy with long hair off the ground. "Thanks for helping."

The officer gave the kidnapper a look. "I won't Hesitate to shoot if you threaten these kids!!! STAND DOWN! Just come with me peacfully...now!" he said with an egde to his voice.

Ian stood near the door, staring at the at the group, the bad guy and the officer. Should he help!?? Should he wait?! He didn't know.......but he didn't feel right just standing there. The police officer was making him un-comfortable. Nothing seemed to be getting done. It was a stale mate.

Finally, the bad guy followed the policeman out the door.

Miley turned her head into Justin's chest and strarted to cry. Justin put a comforting arm around her, then made sure Kayla was around. WHen he saw her, turned to Ian. "What is your name?"

Ian's eye brow twitched and he gulped because of the sudden attention and the all the eyes turning to him. "Ian...my name is Ian" he stuck out his hand for Justin to shake.

Justin ran a hand through his short, jaw length dark brown hair, then shook Ian's hand. "I'm Justin." He turned to Peter, this is my cousin, Peter and his grilfiend, Jen." Then, he turned to Miley, "That's my sister, Miley and her boyfriend, Ryan." THen, he introduced Ian to Nicole, Ashley and Lyn. "I guess you already met Kayla."

Ian smiled pleasantly at Kayla. " I hope your alright." he then turned back to Justin. "Thanks for introducing me to your family and friends, I...guess...I'll leave." he said inclineing his head toward the door. "I just saw the kindapping and wanted to help..." he said becoming silent and looking down.

Peter, who was holding Jen's hand said, "I think we all better get out of here." He led the way out the door, but not before turning and asking Ian, "WHere do you live?"

Ian made a face. "An partment house at the far end of town...." he said rather quietly. He didn't want them to really know him. He hadn't had a good life...
