Micah had been told he was getting a new lawyer and saw what seemed to be him come through the door. It didn't matter anyway, because the other guy seemed kind of odd. When the new lawyer (Jackson) got to him, he said, "So, you're my new lawyer?"

"Yep I am," Jackson replied. "And you must be Micah." He thought Micah looked like a decent kid, not a brat, certainly not the tough guy type...

Having finally being released from the hospital, Kahlynn sat down next to Miley in the classroom, with her leg in a splint. "I'm still worried about the boys," She said

David sat in his car, his fingers darting over the key pad of his smart-phone, rapidly punching keywords into an internet browser on his screen. The benefits of modern technology.... he thought, his lips curling into an malicious grin. There wasn't much he couldn't find out with a little digging, and his long line of contacts funneled him any facts he couldn't find locally. He had found everything he needed, and was now doing final checks. "Greenway Boulavard. Second house on the left. White four, corner, farm style home." he looked up, his foot pressing quickly into the gas petal. "I think I just might pay Nate a little visit.....and his parents too" a laughed escaped his mouth, and his smartphone slipped from his hand into the passenger seat, black gloved hands slipping over the steering wheel, directing it down Ditto Town streets.

Ian grunted in disgust when Alex attempted to flick him. "Exactly what are you trying to say?" he asked, his tone like that of a snapping dog.
Susan looked at him, her blue eyes piercing even through the tears. She didn't feel weak physically.....not yet....she knew she would eventually. She'd lose all her strength and die a slow death, but now she didn't feel pitiful, she felt afraid and angry. Something inside of her was trembling with fear. She was afraid of death. She was frightened of the cancer inside of her, slowly eating her away, killing her. But not just afraid of the disease....but would would happen after she died. She was also afraid to die alone, which she was almost convinced she would. Her family all hated her, or so she thought, and she shared those feelings. She wasn't sure if Johnny was really here out of brotherly concern or of duty, or guilt. Her mouthed moved, but no words came out. She wasn't sure WHAT to say to him. "Johnny...." she gasped, but that's really as far as she could go.

Maralyn laid a hand on her husband's arm, feeling his cold skin. "Justin....no matter how you look, we'll always love you. And your daughter will love you"

Justin felt relief in his heart that his wife and daughter would always love him. His body quivered "I feel so weak."

Miley got our her binder to take notes. "Me too. My brother looks awful and he's really not taking this well. Especially the being scalped part. I freaked out when the doctor showed me the ponytail that no longer belonged to Justin. Why would someone do that to him? And they stabbed his chest. He's lost so much blood!:

Micah nodded. "Yes, sir."

Stacey walked over to Logan's desk just right before class started. "How are you? I heard the news about Peter's cousin."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peter had tried ignoring the stares in the hallway and pitying looks. He took a deep breath and took a seat next to Jen in his math class.
Jen asked, "Were a lot of people staring at you?"
Peter nodded. "Too many."
Jen said, "Justin is a great guy. Why a group of thugs would want to hurt him..."
Peter mumbled, "I wish they gone after me instead."
Jen put a comforting hand on his arm. "Please don't say that."
Logan grinned as Stacey approached his desk, thinking for a moment how lucky he was to have a girl like her. "I'm great!" He said with a wink, but became more serious when she mentioned Peter's cousin. "Yeah, that's too bad, huh?"
Emmy made her way to her first class of the day, and took her usual seat. She hadn't seen Brian yet today, and wasn't sure what she would say when she did, but she was dying to speak with him about what happened the other day. She only hoped Logan would leave them alone once she got the chance.
Brian was late for school that day, and arrived in class with only a few minutes to spare. He found his desk, falling down into it with a relieved sigh. 3 minutes.... he thought, sucking in a breath in attempt to quiet his heart. He righted himself in his seat, ignoring the disgusted glances which fell in his direction. So what? Late for one day! At least he arrived before class began. He slipped his text books out of his bag, and set them up in a neat fashion on his desk. After he was sure he had everything, and was settled enough, that's when he cast his brown eyes around the room to see his fellow classmates. He saw a few familiar faces,, but his gaze stopped on Emmy.
A smile broke out across his features and he moved his fingers in a waving motion in her direction. At least me and Emmy are in one class without Logan...
Rosamunde looked at the clock and yawned. She had stayed up late the night before and now she was paying for it. Tapping the desk with a freshly painted fingernail, she turned her attention on the teacher.
Today is going to be a long day... Rosamunde thought, her mind already straying from the teacher.
Nate had woken up early and done his school in an hour, yes. He had decided to switch to homeschooling after he had to disappear, it made the school less of a target to any potential attacks by David... Which would end in a mess.
He nearly jumped out of his skin... His phone's ring tone sounded like a machine gun... "What the heck?" he asked the air, and then he remembered. That was Kevin's tone; he scrambled for the phone and picked it up"
"Hello?" he asked "Nate, I'm coming home"
If you ain't first, you're last.
David parked his car in an empty parking lot. Ditto Town seemed a quiet place, though he knew in the business districts, stores were in full swing and schools were crowded with children. He faintly wondered if Nate would be at home, considering, after checking, he had found the boy to only be 16. He was clearly young enough to still be in High School, but if he wasn't there, stopping in to see his parents might be profitable as well. They might know something about his work... he though, glancing down at the computer in the dash of his vehicle. It was showing a still photo of his set destination. "Nice house..." he commented, punching a button on it, commanding it to show him the map of the city and his directions.
'Next turn, 0.5 miles' it said in it's female voice as he pulled smoothly out of the lot and back onto the street.
Jack Alton heard the lazy droning of his alarm clock, it's sound penetrating his wall of sleep like a knife. He groaned, lifting his red head off the pillow, and glancing forlornly out his open window. The sound of horses neighing greeted his ears and he sighed, hauling, with much effort his legs out of bed. It was 6' clock, rising time for all his horses, and himself. His green eyes trailed around the room, searching for the pair of clothes he had laid out the night before. Finding them thrown over his desk chair, he snatched them, pulling on his Greet T-shirt and western jeans.
Jack wasn't any normal farm boy, raised on a backwater farm in the country of DT. He was the son of a horse wrangler and a painter....a strange match and a most artistic one at that. His Mother had been a talented artist and spent many hours working on pieces to decorate their large two story old-west home. His Father once bred and raised fine Palomino, Arabian, and Appaloosa horses. When his parents had grown older, they moved to the big city, and Jack had staid to paint and wrangle horses just like he had grown up seeing his elders do. He was an eccentric young man, often taken as extremely odd by others.
His whole house was decorate with owl pictures and figurines, along with paintings painted by himself. He wore only the color green, many shades of it, but only green, and he found great enjoyment and inspiration riding his animals. His barn was decorated on the inside with murals, and his farm truck had a wrap around scene of cowboys rounding up black horses painting on it. He ate only certain things which he usually prepared, and he played guitar to pass the time. He graduated from the Ditto Town High School with flags flown high, but didn't go to college but staid home, to work on his family farm.
And this is wear he is found each day....caring for his animals and wearing green shirts.
Micah said to Jackson, "What question you want to ask first, Sir?"
Even though he lived a life of crime until he got ot Ditto Town, he had no clue what to expect because he'd never been arrested.
Stacey answered, "Yeha, it's terrible."
She sat in a seat. "Peter and his cousin were really close. Can't believe those thugs disfigured him like that and that he could die. Really puts things into perspective."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peter tried paying attention, but his thoughts shifted back to his cousin. Often he would pray for his cousin to survive. He also prayed for his cousin to have hair again where it was scalped off, but knew the hair part was less important than his cousin's life. It had ben hard seeing Miley all upset this morning and not wanting to go to school. Still, he she went at his aunt's persistance.

Miley had to excuse herself form class. the worries of her brother were getting too much.
She called Maralyn. "Maralyn? How is he?"

Rosamunde's pocket buzzed and she jumped. With a glance at the teacher, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and read the newly arrived text from her mother, "Daddy and I are going out to the lake. Join us later! Love you, baby girl!" Rosamunde could hear her mother's thick Southern accent through the text.
Rosamunde smiled as she shoved the phone back into her jean shorts' pocket. The lake was a favorite place for her parents. They would pack a lunch and just head out of town, past the horse farm and they would spend the entire day there. In the Summer, Rosamunde usually went with them, but she was glad that her parents could get some romantic alone time while she was in school.
It had been a while since she went to the lake and today was a perfect day. She wouldn't miss the golden opportunity to hang out with her amazing parents today.

Logan nodded. "Yeah, I guess it does. Hope he gets better, and everything." The room of students quieted down a bit as their teacher cleared her throat and began class.

Emmy grinned at Brian, and returned his wave. His desk was positioned kitty-cornered to her own, one row back and to the right. She swiveled to face him as he sat down, taking advantage of the few moments before class began. "I'm sorry about what happened the other day, Brian." She said, an apologetic look overtaking her face.

Brian looked up when Emmy turned to him. He sighed, a smile tugging at his lips, and said, "It's alright, Emmy. It's hardly your fault..." he placed his pencil at the top of his desk and turned full attention to her. "I don't plan on letting your brother stop me from seeing you." his eyes softened after he said this.

Justin was finally home and making his way to his bed, with Maralyn's help. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. his shoulder lenght dark hair was gone and replaced by scars. There was only a little bit of hair left on top and it only went above the ear if it even went there. He looked hideous! "No." He cringed when he touched where there used to be hair. "It needs to grow back. I can't go anywhere with these scars showing!"

Emmy's smile grew after Brian said that - it was exactly what she wanted to hear. "Good. Just... don't let him get to you. He's not worth the trouble." Her mind's eye recalled how close Logan and Brian had come to exchanging blows, and she silently hoped it would never go further than that.
