Fun segment, Ryadian! It was like a walk down memory lane.
(It also got me thinking about how Erik might react should the graffiti, banners, and confetti of the ditto/original war come to the Emporium. Nothing too drastic...perhaps. Maybe something even a little humorous. ).
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
It made me think: I don't even know where my characters stand on the Ditto/Original issue! It seems to me that probably all of the active story members would be on the Ditto Team. I can see a fun twist to a post that I will be collaborating on shortly...
Well, the way I've always seen it, the Town is officially aligned with the Dittoers--so I don't think the Ditto painting counts as graffiti, stargazer, since the Ditto Team has done that themselves. Kidding aside, that would be kind of fun to see.
Sonny--ooh, looking forward to that! I'd be really interesting to see what the DeHonds think, since they've actually lived in the Dittopian culture. Most of the newcomers (*glances guiltily at Phoenix Archer*) all go "This is so weird; I'll just stay neutral". (<--Blushes because she did it back when she thought it was, dare I say it, original .)
Weee, this is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I originally just decided to make Kirane a Dittoer as a) an homage to older Ditto Stories, and b) because the stories have a lot more cases where the Originalists got to argue their "philosophy", and I wanted the Dittoers to have their chance. (Plus, this is in Kirane's character.) I never thought that it could be so much fun to do that, though!

Okay...I just couldn't resist.

My apologies for my long absence again. I'm aiming to post more before the end of the weekend.
Nice addition, kat. I'm curious to see what this conversation with the King might entail
Ditto to your segment, Aravanna. I like the way you've written Alex's reaction to meeting the gargoyles for the first time. I hope to have a new segment posted sometime in the next week.

Hullo! I'm Elaina (People on chat know me as Ara or Enna) and I just have a few quick questions about the Ditto Town Story.
1: How precisely does one join? (Do I just create a character and start posting or is it more like the other RPs where you have to ask someone if you can join?)
2: Will I need to read up on the entire story or will it be fine to just read up on the last 5-10 pages or so?
3: what sort of character would I need to create? Do I post as myself?
Thank you all for being so wonderfully patient with new-comers like myself!

Hi, Elaina, and welcome to the Library! (I enjoyed writing with you in the Christmas Party).
Thanks for your interest in the Ditto Story. You're very welcome to join.
1. You can join by creating a character and diving right in (I do recommend reading the last few pages to get the 'feel' of the story). Note that the Ditto Story is similar to other role-plays, but tends to have longer posts and generally moves more slowly (both in terms of posting speed and action within the story).
2. The story itself goes back to the early days of NarniaWeb and is very long; only a few devotees have read it in its entirety recently (hi, Ryadian! ). It has a mythology and setting all its own, but skimming through the 8 pages of this current story should give you a good idea of its style and flavor.
3. The current writers have all created characters (rather than posting as themselves). Many come from different worlds; some have special powers while others are very 'ordinary' people. Info can be found by glancing over the Census Bureau (the same as the Post Office for RPs). You're welcome to post your character's info there, revealing as much (or as little) as you like.
You've already met some Ditto Story characters in the Christmas Party at the Mansion: Erik, Abby, and Molly. If you want to come as your character from that Party (Enna), that should be fine - or if you wish to create one or more new characters, that's also acceptable.
New writers often get into the Ditto Story with one or several introductory posts describing their characters and getting them to Ditto Town, where they might meet some of the locals. This often results in some nice interaction between characters and their writers.
Other Ditto Story writers may have additional ideas and tips on getting involved.
If you have questions, feel free to PM me, or to post them here. We look forward to 'meeting' you.

I'm sorry now that I didn't send Varna to the Christmas Party (she is myself in my Elven form ). But she runs a bookshop in rooms hired on the library premises, so your character could meet her there if you like - PM me if that's something you might like to do.
And welcome to the Ditto Story!

Welcome Aravis_Tarkheena011. I might add to what has been said above that this is somewhat different from the RP threads in that it can involve several authors co-authoring a segment, coordinating via PM or posts into here, and then posting it when ready. This chapter of the story has seemed to go a lot slower than some of the earlier ones. I think we all have been busy with various other things. In any event, welcome.
Hail, Cameron Rhodes. May you always have the best mushrooms in the Shire, and keep a sharp watch out in service to King Peter.
Narniaweb Chamber Orchestra
Neutralist Party.
Defender of the Order of the Cricket
Excellent points, Varna and leuth. That collaboration can be a lot of fun.
Enna, earlier I mentioned skimming over the 8 pages of the current story. I was looking it over yesterday, and while I wouldn't retract that suggestion (if you have the time and inclination), don't feel that you must do it before joining us. If there are characters you'd like to meet, or a story arc you'd like to join, please note it here or PM the writer(s) involved.
Again, welcome!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Sorry for the absence; ahhh, how I "love" real life. (Fair warning: I didn't really know what to consider a spoiler by this point, so I didn't mark any of them.
Hi, Elaina! I think stargazer, Varna, and leuth basically covered the basics, but given that I run it, I just have to plug one more thing. If you'd like some of the background information about the stories, I have a blog about the Ditto Story called dittostoryindex.blogspot.com. (It's also the link in my signature.) It's not entirely complete, but I'm hoping there'll be some information there that will be useful. (The two pages I recommend are "Tips for New Writers" and the "Ditto Story Premise".)
Ara and stargazer: It's been fun reading Erica and Alex chat with/meet Abby! (I loved Erica's comment about "You ask her the baby's name so I don't look stupid"!) And stargazer... seriously, you've got to stop making Molly so cute. I want to be able to see her myself now!
Kat: ...DARTH!! I was slightly excited about her return. (Especially since I was in the middle of reading Ditto Stories 1 and 2 with my younger brother at the time....) And now I really want to see what happens next.... That'll certainly be an interesting conversation.
Sorry I've been so absent lately. The only segment I've really been working on is one I don't want to post yet, because it just opens up new plot threads that I'm not ready/willing to deal with right now. Although, unfortunately, it means that Kirane and Phoenix Archer don't have much to do right now.

So, I've typed up my character description and posted in in the Census Bureau viewtopic.php?f=13&t=151&p=206536#p206536
If anyone would like to work with me on how I should join in on the story I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank's for all of the tips and information on the story and I'm super excited to be part of it
EDIT:
If you all think this is a good idea: Ditto town is a little bit confusing to me (the place not the forum) I think it would be convenient and neat for all of us to collaborate and if you wanted to tell me where everything is I would be more than happy to draw an artsy map for the Ditto stories

Your character sounds really interesting, Elaina! About the town... to be honest, I don't think anyone really knows where everything is! For the most part, there are just a lot of well-known buildings, and we use our imagination to decide where they all are.
There's the Cup & Platter (a pub), the Inn Between (the inn), the Ditto Mansion (long story; think of it as a really nice apartment complex), and the Sheriff's office/jail, which are all fairly near each other and around the Town Square. The Fountain is in the middle of the Town Square. The Apothecary and the Library/Bookstore aren't very far away from those, I don't think. From there... all the buildings that come to mind are closer to the edges of town. There's the Emporium and Welcome Center (ask stargazer about that one), the Rescue Center (leuthilalda), the abandoned Vampire Fancier's compound... and I'm sure there are more, they're just slipping my mind.... Well, and there's my character's cottage, which is just before the woods start, but that hardly counts.
(Don't even get started on the geography of the area. Given how may posts refer to woods, I think we've got woods surrounding the town.... XD)
Wow, sorry, that was much more of a ramble than I intended it to be. Hopefully, that'll give you some idea of what the town "looks" like. (Also, anyone else, be sure to let me know if I missed something. I was kind of working off the top of my head!)

Interesting character, Elaina! I'd be glad to talk to you about getting in to the story; feel free to send me a PM or ask questions here.
A map would be fun to see. Like Ryadian said, I think there are woods around nearly all the buildings except those in the Square. (There are woods behind the Emporium - they've been mentioned several times in the stories and also in my NaNo tales featuring those characters).
Thanks for your comments about Molly, Rya! I've had a great time writing her, both her and in the NaNo stories, where she's a little older.
